The intelligent and stealthy girl hummed and nodded as Karter spoke. "They really go all out to make sure pirates don't escape, huh? Don't these guards like need to eat, or take bathroom breaks?" she asked. She didn't think she'd seen the guards here switch out with anyone else.

Meanwhile, the cat looked up at Luka, and mewed.

The sweet but stubborn woman nodded as she looked at the other woman. "Sorry if that hurt a lot...I tried to be as gentle as possible. I WAS digging a bullet out of you, though." She shook her head a couple times, then kissed the other woman on the cheek.

The sweet and gentle but stubborn and fiery child giggled a bit as she looked at him. "I love dogs!" she said, then made a small sound. "I...don't think I ever asked what animals are your favorites, so...What animals do you really like?" she asked.

The boy smiled at the dog then at the older boy, and nodded. He said "Yeah; well...at least with those two," he said. He didn't really know anyone else here that well. "I've spoken to Helmeppo and Anya a bit, but...don't know them that well; Helmeppo is the blonde with the visor."

The gray eyed black haired male hummed a bit, then looked to their food. He'd eaten half of his, but then got distracted. He took a couple more bites, then nodded to his fiancé. "Okay," he said to the rosette, and took a couple more bites then stopped.

"I mean, yeah. I just kinda...assume they switch out the guard every now and then. We haven’t been here long, just one night and this mornin', so maybe it just hasn’t been time for the switch-out yet." Karter shrugged. Either way, it didn’t matter to him. He wasn’t holding out on a hope to get out QUITE so soon. An escape from a place like this required patience, and lots of it at that. He had practice with that. Patience was one of the things he’d unfortunately- or fortunately in this case- had to have built up overtime.

"Hey." Kass shrugged with the hint of a smile. She wouldn’t deny it had hurt, a LOT, but she’d known pain in her life before, and the pain from the aftereffects of the shot itself had been a bit worse too. She hadn’t been expecting the pain from the shot. She HAD been expecting pain from the bullet removal, so it wasn't as terrible as she would’ve imagined just in the anticipation phase of things. "It’s better than what the effects could’ve caused. I’d rather deal with a little pain than die altogether," she pointed out.

Nico's gaze skimmed over the room until he found the man in question. "I would assume the young lady with him is this Anya you mentioned?" He tried. The more names he memorized, the better for when he got the chance to meet people for himself. From the sounds of it, the division had casual relations, it wasn’t strictly operating on formal terms. He could appreciate that. It put less stress and tension on him to follow customs he could never understand or respect.

"You done?" Coby guessed when Lucian stopped again. He pulled his own tray towards himself, managed another couple bites before deciding that was it and standing up to take his tray to the return. He ran over and over in his mind the kinds of things that would ideally be discussed. What kinds of things would be good to have sorted out as far as where they planned to go in the future, what they envisioned things looking like. Before they’d gotten engaged in the first place...Coby had done nothing to determine if their visions for the future were REMOTELY close.

"Work is work. I don’t know if there’s necessarily any good jobs, but hey." Helmeppo shrugged and shook his head. "We all knew what we could be getting ourselves into when we enlisted. We literally signed up for this." Well in his case, he hadn’t had much choice in whether or not he joined the Marines, but in the end, even once he’d matured and was in the right mindset to make decisions for himself sanely, he’d still chosen to stay.

Kass hesitated briefly at the question. She had little in the way of an appetite at the moment, but...water would be a good idea. "I...I don’t think that I could eat much right now, but...some water would be lovely. I think I NEED that in order to remake the blood I lost." There was no way there should’ve been THAT much blood, but not all operations went perfectly smoothly, especially when it was a rush job.

Nico returned his gaze to Linkk, raising an eyebrow sceptically.

Coby set his tray in the return and headed towards the common room, pausing briefly at the door and glanced back at Lucian, waiting to see if he would follow. His anxiety gradually grew and grew, but it wasn’t a topic they could dance around forever. More than anything, they needed to have this conversation, and Coby personally needed to get away from the bustling atmosphere before they sat down to have a serious conversation.

"That’s true. I do love being in the action, but that won’t be happening for a while, not until this stupid chest wound heals. Helmeppo shrugged as if this didn’t bother him, but more than anything else, the young man was a free spirit. He hated being tied down and restricted.

Nyx had fallen off to sleep quite quickly again but it must have only been for a moment because she was shortly awoken by Ace who had brought her breakfast. The smell made her stomach growl anxiously. Nyx sat up slowly, wincing slightly when her neck strained under the pressure. "Thank you Ace" she murmured, holding out hands to cautiously take her plate full of warm breakfast. This was going to hurt to eat, she just knew it. "No, I didn't. I think he must have been busy, but I don't mind".

"If you want, I can take a look around for him again, but it might be best that you have the chance to eat some breakfast and wake up properly before that happens," Ace pointed out. No sense in trying to hold a conversation while one was not at their best. He’d had that experience before. Sometimes it just led to anxious or nonsensical rambling. "You feeling any better this morning?" He asked softly. He’d seen the kind of damage a Rokushiki strike could do in the right hands, and the boy who had fought Nyx seemed to have known very well what he was doing when he had attacked. An open handed strike shouldn’t have logically done that much damage, but higher ranking Marines like that boy- young as he was- were quite well versed in combat and had numerous tricks up their sleeves. It was almost a requirement! Annoying, but impressive.

Kass took the offered glass of water with a small smile painted on her lips, though that smile was weak, perhaps even a little forced. Normally a smile was easy to muster, but the lingering ache was annoying and distracting. She’d felt worse. "Thank you," she murmured, lifting the cup to her lips and drinking, not stopping until she had completely drained the cup of cold, welcome liquid.

"I mean, I figure that, but don’t a LOT of Marines have partners and children that live the lives of citizens? People they met on their breaks, or knew before they went on to become Marines in the first place?" It had been a very long time since Nico himself had been a legal citizen, but he still remembered the people he had met, some of them truly wonderful people, one whom he had started to fall for once, but had to have left in the end, much to his dismay. Dating within the ranks of the Marines...he wasn't even sure how that was supposed to WORK! From the looks of it though, some couples had already managed to pull it off, so it certainly proved not to be IMPOSSIBLE.

Coby slipped into the empty common-room and settled on the couch comfortably, gently tugging Lucian down to sit on his lap, more than anything craving that closeness. "Since...Since we're going to be getting married and really committing in the long-term...it only makes sense we take a look to see how close we are to looking at the same kind of future. You know, living arrangements if we get the chance to live off-grounds at some point, family, work, all that. When you imagine what your future personally with a partner looks like, what is it you see? You must’ve thought about it a bit before, even if it was just daydreaming. Don’t be shy, I’m not going to judge for ANYTHING," Coby promised, offering the start of a smile despite his lingering nervousness and curiosity.

Helmeppo smirked from the corner of his lip. "You like the idea of bossing the newbies around, huh?" He teased, lightly nudging Anya. Of course...if he was being completely honest, that was one of his favourite parts of work too. Getting the chance to be the one in control again. He’d lost that a long time ago, even though it had been what had given him a real sense of security and reassurance back then. "I don’t really remember how much a Lieutenant partakes in the training and the bossing-around part of that training, but hey," he glanced over at her, reaching over to kiss her cheek. "If that’s on the schedule, I could DEFINITELY use a hand to help out with that," he added.

I instantly regretted even putting that foolish statement out of my mouth. I wouldn’t see why Coby wouldn’t get it. He’s obviously a capable man and quite the famous Marine around here. Besides, if it’s just a rumor, we shouldn’t go running or mouths over it. If someone close to Admiral here’s us, we might not even be in consideration ourselves. Do I think we could be in consideration, possibly. Were capable Commanders who deserve to be recognized for it, but do I think there are others better than us, yes I do think that.”
