โ Flywing had already been awake since sunrise. He hadn't
โ fell back asleep after the light started to shine through
โ the minor cracks in the warrior's den. He waited for
โ another cat to leave before he did though, not wanting to
โ be the reason some other cat woke up. He waited for a
โ few moments before hearing another warrior exit the
โ den. He peered open his eyes just as Alterstrike was
โ leaving the den. Flywing quickly got to his paws and
โ gave his coat a few licks before quickly but carefully
โ exiting the den after the tom. "Good morning,
โ Alterstrike!" He called, as he neared the fresh kill pile
โ where the younger cat had began eating a mouse.
โ "Looks like Pineflower needs to send out a patrol." He
โ commented, pawing at the leftover prey before picking
โ up a scrawny looking finch. He sat down next to the tom
โ and began eating. After his first mouthful, he looked
โ around the camp. Where is Pineflower? He wondered.
โ He thought she would have been excited to begin her
โ role as deputy and would be up bright and early, but
โ that was seemingly not the case. He knew that had he
โ been chosen for deputy, he would have been the first
โ cat in camp to wake. He shrugged and took another
โ bite of the cold bird laying in his paws.

Autumnpaw shuffled in her nest, not yet ready to face the day.
She could hear the other apprentices waking around her,
carefully picking their way out of the den, but no matter
how quiet they tried to be, it seemed as though Autumnpaw
could hear every lick, breath and sneeze. Is Burnpaw
really still sick? Can he go sleep in Azurestream's den?
She rolled her eyes behind her closed lids. She'd never
suggest such a thing to his face, as much as she wished he
would. She laid motionless for a few more heartbeats before
groaning and flipping over, gently opening her eyes to the sun
shining through the entrance, invading her vision. She glanced
at Burnpaw, who was seemingly still asleep and huffed. She
got to her paws, and arched her back to stretch. She glanced
around again, spotting Sealpaw. They weren't the best of
friends, but she'd rather talk to her over grumpy Burnpaw!
She wondered where Sandpaw was for a moment before
turning to face Sealpaw. "Good morning, Sealpaw." She
chirped, watching the she-cat pick moss out of her pelt.
"Would you like some help?" She
purred with amusement. Thankfully, Autumnpaw was blessed
with a short, manageable coat that only required a few licks
to make presentable, so she had much more time to sort
herself out.
