whirlaway took the title of the fifth triple crown winner. one of his nicknames was "mr. longtail" as his thick tail flowed far behind him as he ran around the track. he was said to be quirky and a fan of habits.

whirlaway was actually chestnut with a narrow blaze, front coronet, and rear socks but today's cat is a vibrant blood chestnut paint.
