CHESSCLAN - APRIL 2021 - 012

Postby chaotic creativity » Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:02 am

      CHESSCLAN !!
    ROOKSTAR - Tom - 54 Moons - Roi - Tagged: Minkstar (PineClan)
Rookstar could feel the gentle breeze whisking through his fur playfully, almost dragging him along as his paws pounded across the ground. The pull towards the Gathering was almost unbearable, and he turned his head to watch his clanmates as he ran faster and faster towards the familiar sight. He burst into the clearing with a large leap, soaring down the edge of a hill before skidding to a halt. His chest heaved as he fought to catch his breath, and his eyes were wide with a wild excitement. This was the kind of feeling only a truly wild and free cat could feel, one that a kittypet could never even begin to imagine existed. He threw his head around to look for his Clan, and he watched them stream over the hill in a more civilized manner. "Darling, please don't embarrass us," he heard Chasmstar hiss in a mocking manner, and he turned his nose up. He had no problem denouncing their mateship now, and he was not afraid of the consequences of their breaking their vow to ÉtoileClan. Pure and utter hatred filled his body, and he turned to spot a familiar pelt in the crowd. "Minkstar! So good to see you again," he called as he padded up to her, raising his tail in a friendly, yet respectful, greeting.

    CHASMSTAR - Molly - 45 Moons - Dame - Tagged: Wolfsnarl (Pinewatch)
Chasmstar nodded in agreement, ears flicking back and forth. The night was beginning to come to a close, and Chasmstar knew that she would have to rally her Clan around her soon enough. "So many cats to round up," she sighed, tossing her head back as she watched the moon sink lower and lower. "I only brought apprentices outside of my high ranks, and they sure can be paw-ful. It's so hard to keep an eye on those little 'paws who only want to cause trouble," Chasmstar chuckled, eyes scanning the ground as she spotted Godivapaw and Tournesolpaw. They both seemed to be interacting with newly found half-siblings, and she was glad they were reaching out to find their extended family. Hérissonnespine and Tectonicmarch had raised wonderfully strong toms, and she was glad to have brought them to the Gathering. She didn't fully want to leave just yet, but she knew she would have to sooner rather than later.

    RICHTERSCREECH - Tom - 64 Moons - Tour - Tagged: Lycan (HazeClan)
Richterscreech nodded with a purr as Lycan began to let her words indicate that they were to part soon. He turned to see Chasmstar watching him expectantly, and he knew his duties as Tour were calling him. "It was so wonderful to meet you, Lycan. I promise to keep an eye out for you, and I will ask about you and your mother every time I spot a HazeClan cat. Here's to hoping that we'll see each other soon," he sighed. He reached forward to press his nose gently to her ear before turning away, scanning the clearing for Tournesolpaw and Godivapaw. He quickly spotted the young toms, and he trotted towards Tournesolpaw. The tom didn't even notice him until Richterscreech tapped on his back, and he turned to Godivapaw. The other young tom was chattering away, and he didn't even stop as he followed after Richterscreech towards Chasmstar. The cats filed into the group with a sigh, all seemingly disappointed at how short the Gathering seemed. Richterscreech rolled his eyes as the Apprenti meowed of their newest found siblings, and he turned towards Chasmstar to wait until she signaled that they were leaving.

WOLFWHISKERS - Tom - 64 Moons - Fou - Tagged: Smokefur (The Fallen)
Wolfwhiskers nodded, knowing the family structure was one of the most appealing aspects of Clan life. His pelt was beginning to keep him warmer and warmer, and he could tell that the night was coming to an end. He sighed, lowering his head as he thought about Faonpaw. "I can't wait to get back to my camp. I just want to congratulate her," he meowed, thrashing his tail back and forth a couple of times. He wanted to see how Lindtpaw had fared underneath Loonfrost. His want to return to camp was growing stronger, and he could tell that his time at the Gathering was coming closer and closer to an end.

    GODIVAPAW - Tom - 11 Moons - Apprenti - Tagged: Cocoapaw (HazeClan)
Godivapaw snorted as Cocoapaw mentioned meeting up to ensure that they were all real. "There's a high probability that my own littermates won't believe me when I tell them about you and Cardinalpaw. They'll say I was lying," he scoffed, turning his nose into the air. "It was wonderful meeting you, Cocoapaw, and who knows. I may have my Cavalier name by the next time we meet again," he chuckled. Richterscreech tapped on his rear, and he turned towards his Tour. "Oh, Richterscreech! Meet Cocoapaw, she and I share the same father. It was so great finally meeting the half-siblings that mother always talked about," Godivapaw paused to take a deep breath as he began to follow after Richterscreech. They neared Chasmstar, and he broke away to walk beside Tournesolpaw. He shared his entire conversation with Cocoapaw from beginning to end, despite seeing that Tournesolpaw was itching to share who he had met. He would have plenty of time, and Godivapaw smiled as he watched Chasmstar call for the few straggling clanmates.

    TOURNESOLPAW - Tom - 7 Moons - Apprenti - Tagged: Geyserbloom (Highgarden) & Turtle's Shell (Golden Kingdom)
Tournesolpaw couldn't help but begin to smile at Geyserbloom's infectious personality. The molly began to ramble about her littermates, and Tournesolpaw nodded eagerly when she asked for him to visit if he ever was nearby. "Ancoliepaw and Asterpaw are just two peas in a pod; they never leave each other. I can't wait to tell them about you!" Tournesolpaw chirped again. As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt a tap on his shoulder. Richterscreech stood over him, and he turned and nodded. "Well, the night's almost over and my Clan is getting ready to head back to camp. I'm so glad I got to meet the both of you," he meowed. He didn't fully believe that he'd met two half-siblings and learned of two more all in the span of a single Gathering. Richterscreech had padded off to fetch Godivapaw, but Tournesolpaw could see Chasmstar impatiently tapping her paw at the edge of the Gathering. "Goodbye!" Tournesolpaw called as he trotted off, his tail curled in the air as he purred. This Gathering, despite being his first, would always be the best one in his opinion. Now he only hoped to meet both Sleetfreckle and Drizzlestone. As he reached Chasmstar, he turned to Godivapaw. The other tom was rambling about his own found half-siblings, so Tournesolpaw stayed quiet. He knew he'd get his turn eventually, especially considering how long of a walk they had.

KATTER AV DEN FROSNE ØYA !!
    MOOSESTAR - Molly - 64 Moons - Dronning - Tagged: Ploverstripe (GustClan)
Moosestar swallowed back a few tears, and she nodded slowly. Her muzzle and cheeks were wet, and she tried to help them dry with a few swipes of her paw. She leaned closer to Ploverstripe, sniffling gently. "It's so hard to know she's there even if I can't see her," she murmured gently. As she raised her eyes to the sky, she noted that the moon was beginning to fall. She would need to round up the few clanmates she had brought soon, but she didn't know if she had the energy. She decided to put her trust in Skuasoar and let her gather up Frosne.

SKUASOAR - Molly - 69 Moons - Hertuginne - Tagged: Berry Scorched by Flames (Court of the Butterflies)
Skuasoar blinked appreciatively as Berry Scorched by Flames spoke of good times for their Clan. As they asked about Frosne, Skuasoar just nodded. "Prey is plentiful. You've never had fun until you've dove into snowbanks after voles and mice," she chuckled. That trick was the one all of the Lærling loved learning, leaping nose-first into the piles of snow to scoop paws through tunnels made by the small rodents that burrowed through the flakes. She shook her head and sighed, remembering how excited Tanzanitegaze, Aventurineeyes, and Carneliansight were to learn it from their mother. They had spent from sunrise to sundown chasing after the rodents, and she had had to carry them back to camp when they exhausted themselves.

    MAPLESONG - Molly - 69 Moons - Helbreder - Tagged: Solsticestand (Highgarden)
Maplesong couldn't hide the red that rushed through her face and ears, so she quickly ducked her face away. "I'm so excited for this litter, but it'll be several moons until I can return again. I hope it will be worth the wait, and I just know you're going to grow so much stronger as a healer. If you ever need anything, just ask for Frosne. Moosestar's a lot gentler than she seems," Maplesong chuckled as she began to back away. Her tail was held out neatly, and she turned towards Moosestar. Moosestar was curled on the ground, still crying. Now, there was a tom beside her. Choosing to allow them a few more moments of privacy, Maplesong padded towards Skuasoar. The molly had gathered nearly every single other clanmate that had attended the Gathering, and she smiled as Grizzlypaw came bounding up to her. She ran her tongue across her son's, who was now as nearly as big as her, head, listening to him ramble about another kit of Brownie's he had met. This Gathering had proved to be one of the best, and she could only smile as she held him close. She'd tell him and his littermates when they made it back to camp, that way she surprised the five most important cats in her life all at the same time.

    TOMBECHO - Non-binary - 57 Moons - Helbreder - Tagged: Petrelhop (WheatClan) & Cream of Wheat (CocoaClan)
Tombecho nodded at Petrelhop's statement, sighing and thinking about the horrid stuff clinging to their limbs and belly. As Cream of Wheat rambled about living in an abandoned twolegplace, their eyes widened. "Living where twolegs once lived? That truly would be horrendous. We have barely any sights of twolegs in Frosne. It's rather nice being able to stay away from the creatures that once enclosed and trapped me inside their nest. I prefer my freedom," they meowed, wrinkling their nose at the thought of their former home. When they'd been trapped on that boat that stank of fish, they had only dreamed of fresh air. Now that they had it, they would never give it up again.

    GRIZZLYPAW - Tom - 12 Moons - Lærling - Tagged: Neptunepaw (ShoreClan)
Grizzlypaw's eyes widened as the tom confirmed his suspicions. Grizzlypaw let out a vibrant purr as he nodded enthusiastically, his tail twitching with delight as his worries over Sablefrost were quickly forgotten. "Oh, I'm so glad to meet you! Brownie is my father, but only biologically. He's actually just the tom my mother used as a surrogate so that she and my other mom could have kits together. I'm so glad to find out there's more half-siblings out there. My three littermates would love you," he chuckled excitedly, nodding enthusiastically. Grizzlypaw could scarcely believe he actually had half-siblings out there, even if he had spotted the tom he knew to be Brownie hanging around the edge of the Gathering. Maplesong and Glacierboom were wonderful mothers, but Grizzlypaw couldn't smother his eagerness to know more about his biological father and said tom's other kits.

      THE ORDER OF THE HYENA
    HYENA'S BREATH - Molly - 30 Moons - Matriarch - Tagged: Fluffy (Nox Invictus)
Hyena's Breath narrowed her eyes as Fluffy asked what predators she fought. "Well, vultures are clearly our biggest threat. We try to avoid lions and cheetahs, but I am not afraid of Hyenas. We respect them, as we believe our ancestors visit us in their form, but we will pick fights with them if they try to take our fresh-kill," she growled gently. She was more than excited, talking about fights, and it was evident in the sparkle of her eyes that she was imagining predators.

Nox Invictus April 07

Postby Kazin » Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:09 am

    Nox Invictus

    Fluffy -- leader -- she-cat (she/her) -- 28 moons old -- Hyena’s Breath (Order of the Hyena)
Fluffy felt her eyes widen at the thought of vultures. "We don't have many birds that big around us," the she-cat admitted, shaking her head slightly. "Sounds... terrifying, if I were to be honest. I've only seen one from very far away, and I think that was enough for me." For moment, Fluffy was too much in awe to speak. She thought cheetahs and lions were only tales that mothers told their kits, truthfully - not that she was going to admit that to Hyena's Breath. The thought that there was a cat that lived in the same area as them said more about Hyena's Breath's strength than anything else. "I must admit I haven't really heard of what a 'hyena' is," Fluffy meowed after a short pause.

    Watcher -- deputy -- nonbinary (they/them) -- 34 moons old -- Marchsnow (DuckClan)
”it can be quite nice to have nothing going on,” Watcher reflected, almost wishful that they could have peace in their clan for just a couple moons. “It always feels like there’s way too much my leader has me do, while she herself goes off on her own... sometimes I wish I knew what she was doing” Watcher allowed themself a sigh, getting sidetracked. “Anyhow, maybe it would be cool to visit DuckClan one day. It sounds quite nice.”

    Honeycrisp -- healer -- she-cat (she/her) -- 27 moons old -- Lilybloom (MoonClan)
"It must be lovely to be from a clan with such extensive history! I truly hope it can be that way for my clan, one day." Honeycrisp gave her own slight chuckle at the thought of barn life. "I admit caves sound thrilling compared to weaving through the legs of large animals the Twolegs keep in their farm," Honeycrisp mewed, scrunching up her nose in distaste at the thought of the large, bumbling animals like cows and horses on the farm. "The horses and cows don't exactly have respect for my plants and end up squishing a fair bit of my herbs if I put them in the wrong spot - or they even eat them sometimes, if there's a patch within their reach. Caves would certainly be nicer on storing and collecting herbs," Honeycrisp laughed.

    Thunder -- warrior -- tom (he/him) -- 22 moons old -- Leafgale (VagaryClan)
Feeling the now familiar heat of what would be a blush warming his furless pelt, Thunder bowed his head at the compliments from Leafgale. He kept his eyes averted as Leafgale finished his appraisal, too bashful to look back at the tom for a few moments. "I... I'm not sure I deserve that praise," he admitted, his meow almost coming out squeakily much to the tom's embarrassment. "But... truly, t-thank you Leafgale." It was probably the nicest compliment Thunder had ever heard about himself, and he was glad for it. "I... I hope we can see each other after this and stay friends," he admitted after clearing his throat, finally looking back up at the other warrior as his anxieties ebbed. "It's been very nice to talk with you... and, I would say that your leader was very right about naming you Leafgale - you are adaptable and calm as the breeze is." Thunder offered one more genuine smile, the feature slightly unfamiliar to the tom, who's expression usually stayed worried.

VagaryClan and Kyanite Keep | April 9 | 7

Postby [kat] » Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:20 am

ᴠᴀɢᴀʀʏᴄʟᴀɴ

☆ Rookspots
tom ; deputy ; tags: pizzastar and co.
Rookspots tilted his head thoughtfully. With Coalstream's recent news of expecting Rustfoot's kits, he hadn't even though about the idea of her becoming the next deputy. But when Moonpie brought up the idea, suddenly it made complete sense. "You know... that's a really good idea. I might bring that up to Riverstar." He gave them a friendly wink. "Who knows? You might even get the credit for picking the next deputy." He tapped the ground with a paw. "Seriously, though, Coalstream would make a great deputy. She's brave and dedicated. Maybe Riverstar and I could time it so that when her kits are apprenticed, I'll retire and she can take my spot."

☼ Fadedsun
tom ; medicine cat ; tags: otterfur
Fadedsun blinked slowly at his mate, ears twitching thoughtfully as he recalled that sacred moment. "Like it was yesterday, my love. I don't know what in the stars brought you over to talk to little old me, but..." He shook his head with a laugh. "I'm glad they did. And... I know that really, we're never too far away, but sometimes it feels like it's an infinite amount of space between us. Although, now..." He shot a warm glance at Jasminepaw. "Now it's like we each have little pieces of each other." He bent down to give his daughter, who had been watching carefully, an affectionate nuzzle. "I suppose your sons will do until we can reunite again." He teased.

♔ Fogpaw
molly ; apprentice ; tags: pizzastar and co.
Fogpaw's eyes went wide. "Talking to StarClan?" She whispered, like they were sharing a secret. "What's that like?" She took a few moments to process what Pepperpaw was talking about with this "reading," and when the other apprentice made scraggles in the dirt, she squinted hard at it. "So... it's kind of like, a message? Does StarClan send you words to read, then?"

✤ Stormpaw
molly ; apprentice ; tags: pizzastar and co.
Stormpaw almost fell over taking in how cool CocoaClan sounded. She let out an excited squeak, ignoring Cinnamonpaw's yawn. "That's so cool! Does that mean you don't have to hunt or anything? Since it's a place for food?" She scrunched up her nose thinking about the scent of Twolegs around her all the time, but didn't comment. "Well, VagaryClan is great! The forest is super big and super pretty. There's lots of flowers and stuff- oh, and the Starspring, which I haven't seen yet but I've heard is all magical and stuff. Do you guys believe in magic?"

❀ Hopfrog
molly ; warrior ; tags: goldenheart
At first, Hopfrog couldn't stop herself from tensing with nerves when Goldenheart pressed himself against her, but the touch was so reassuring that she found herself melting gratefully into his side. "I've missed you too," she replied, inwardly scolding herself for the very clear note of longing her voice. She cleared her throat. "I- I've been good. Great, actually. I think I might be getting an apprentice soon! There have been so many new kits and a lot of my siblings have become mentors so far." She shuffled her paws, this time with excitement rather than apprehension.

⚜ Briarthorn
molly ; warrior ; tags: berryblossom, springblossom, peachblossom, siskinskip, wisteriavine
Briarthorn gave Berryblossom a warm smile, appreciating the friendly gesture. Then she turned her attention the rest of the group, and let out a bark of laughter. "Just because we're mousebrained, doesn't mean that they aren't more mousebrained! Although, sometimes I would definitely be inclined to compare the intelligence of my Clanmates to a kit's." She scoffed, but it was lighthearted. Her gaze flicked over to Wisteriavine. "You're both lovely to talk to. And it sounds like you should have a word with this Crowbound if you like him so much. But if he hurts you-" she gently bumped Wisteriavine's paw with her own, "-you send him to answer to me!"

☾ Leafgale
tom ; warrior ; tags: thunder
Leafgale nodded happily, a small blush creeping onto his face at Thunder's compliment. "I agree! If we ever should end up at another Gathering, we should absolutely talk again." And he meant it. He had never been much of a talker but somehow this foreign tom had gotten several words out of him tonight. "You've been great company." He mewed.

ᴋʏᴀɴɪᴛᴇ ᴋᴇᴇᴘ

♛ Night of the Stars
molly ; queen ; tags: blooming edelweiss
Night of the Stars trotted into the Gathering with her chin and tail high. While she really may not be all that confident, at least she could look like she was and fool the others into believing it. She remembered how at her last Gathering she had met the regal but kind Crown of Embers, and wondered if she might see him again, or someone entirely new.

♘ Stallion's Canter
tom ; knight ; tags: veerypath
Stallion chuckled, glad that the moment had smoothed over. "Bite-able! We'll see about that. Kits were never my strong suit but I've been told I give good badger rides." While it certainly wasn't what he had expected, Stallion was glad that he had been able to make a friend tonight. Night of the Stars had been so adamant about allies and protection, but he wondered if she had ever really interacted much with other cats. She seemed too nervous, too untrusting to have known cats like Veerypath. "You seem content as well, so for that I'm happy for you too. Just out of curiosity, what's your leader like? I ask because Kyanite Keep hasn't been to many Gatherings and our leader seemed a bit apprehensive for it."

Re: CascadeClan — Fifth Gathering — April [11]

Postby /nyx. » Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:26 am

CASCADECLAN has arrived!
Attending: Silverstar, Shoreabranch, Aldernight, Langsat, Halepen, Basmatiswerve, Rhizomecinder, Orchidpaw, Aulandrapaw

Silverstar | Eye of the Cascade | female | 41 moons | Tags: Halfmoon, Quailjaw [MoonClan; LooneyLani]; Shoreabranch [CascadeClan; bmkmb]
The silver-furred leader released a breath she hadn't noticed to be holding when Halfmoon finally spoke. She'd caught Shoreabranch's exasperated looks; the (insolent) warrior hadn't hidden them as well as the skullhunter'd presumed she had. Or perhaps she hadn't been trying to hide them at all; that sounded like something Shoreabranch would do. Frank, sly yet straightforward. Troublesome... if not for the expertise and the kinship they felt for each other, Silverstar would've fired the feline long ago. She contemplated that for a moment, then backtracked. No, firing Shoreabranch would cause unrest within the clan. Aldernight absolutely adored the molly, and by that, Silverstar meant that Aldernight rarely turned his murderous glares at Shoreabranch. The two weren't romantically fond of each other, certainly not, though the Tempest actively recognized the Champion's competence and made it known that she held more power than the average hunter. Silverstar's lips curled upwards in a very slight smile. Politics were strange like that—thank the Storm those two knew the ins and outs of it better than she ever would. Then, Halfmoon spoke, and Silverstar found herself dipping her head slightly in thanks. They were similar, the two leaders, and that made things easier for them both, in Silverstar's humble opinion. "Truly, I don't mind," the molly assured. "You needn't worry; I don't doubt that my warriors will accept Quailjaw with grins on their maws." Well... perhaps not literally, but she trusted that Halfmoon understood what she was trying to get across. A smile graced her lips. "I hope we come to an agreement also," she admitted.

Shoreabranch | Skullhunter | female | 43 moons | Tags: Halfmoon, Quailjaw [MoonClan; LooneyLani]; Silverstar [CascadeClan; bmkmb]
The skullhunter wanted to rake her claws across the earth in pure exasperation; however, neither leader would take well to that course of action, she didn't doubt. Instead, Shoreabranch turned her gaze to Quailjaw. "Is it that obvious?" she muttered wryly, a teasing glint in her eyes. Whatever turmoil she felt, the molly dismissed it with the flick of a tail. Nonchalantly, she spoke, "I'm used to more turbulent negotiations. Silver-tongue speaking, watching for hidden meanings beneath every word—that sort of thing. Our leaders, I'm afraid, are so straightforward that it's almost boring." Refreshing, really, but also troublesome. Either every word they said was genuine, or they were hiding secrets unnervingly well. Shoreabranch huffed. "Thankfully, you're here to act as my entertainment." With an overdramatic motion, the skullhunter commanded, "Oh, great furred-and-not-feathered Quail, do put on a show for your Queen lest she fade from ennui." Now, Shoreabranch wasn't really expecting for Qualjaw to start dancing all of a sudden. Even the densest cat would be able to tell her jest, or so she hoped.

Aldernight | Storm's Tempest | male | 44 moons | Tags: Badgermask [the fallen; salvation.]
Aldernight paused at the question about skyhunters. He huffed as he admitted, "I'm not quite sure myself. The Cascade is not as new to the world as it seems to be—the clan itself is ancient, born from legends that fell hundreds of seasons ago." The black cat curled in his tail, contemplative. "According to myths no longer told, the skyhunters were fierce hunters. They raced through trees towering high as mountains, with pelts of pure white, like clouds rarely seen from the jungle floor. They battled eagles for training and patroled for days at a time, never returning without slain beasts in their maws, large enough to provide feasts." Aldernight dismissed, "The skyhunters are nothing but legends. Not a single cat in the Cascade boasts full white fur—it would be the death of them. We live shrouded in shadows, slipping past predators daily. Bright pelts make for living targets, white being the worst... yet not a fortmoon ago, six cats showed up at our borders, all white but one. They climb better than anycat I've met, laughing and rebelling against our traditions one moment, then upholding them the next. Thus, the whispers claiming that the skyhunters have returned." The Tempest tilted his head at Badgermask. "I'm curious—is it an omen, do you think?"

Langsat | Aura of Ripples | female | 57 moons | Tags: Blizzardchirp [PuddleClan; Bugbelly]
The tabby leveled her gaze when Blizzardchirp admitted to purposely seeking out a medicine cat. Her first thought was that something went wrong in the molly's clan; however, the truth turned out somewhat different. Moons ago, she would've replied with something along the lines of I see, then she would've interrogated the otherclanner before deciding whether or not she might fit the role. Now, Langsat was more reserved, more closed in on herself. She had no business meddling in the troubles of other felines, though she wasn't against lending simple advice. "If you enjoy fighting, be a warrior. If you prefer healing, learn the way of herbs. If you like both, then do both. It's not written in the stars that healers can't fight, that warriors can't heal. As long as you can keep up with the pressure of holding both roles. Being a medicine cat is quite boring when no one's hurt; you'll have more than enough time to patrol with your warrior friends if you wish." The Ripple flicked an ear. "Is that what troubles you? Or was it something else?"

Halepen | Aura of Ripples | male | 18 moons | Tags: Autumnflower [QuickClan; eagle,]
What's to be sorry for? Halepen was about to ask; luckily Autumnflower explained without prompting. Pushed aside, dismissed... not quite. He was being difficult, he knew, but the Cascade was a difficult clan. Living in a rainforest of all places did that to cats, especially when so many preferred seeking refuge with twolegs these days. "My mentor knows that I surpass her in certain areas. I taught her the ways of the Cascade—she cannot not know. Thus, she works me harder—irritating, though the alternative is dying from boredom, so I accept the challenge. These days, she cannot command me—not when our rank is the same. As for my leader, she listens to me, yet she has no power over my mentor. Or—no, it's more of she doesn't know what to do. Despite being leader, she's not all-powerful. She doesn't want to overstep, that's what it is. My best bet for help would be to approach the deputy, but we're on a no-speak basis because I didn't punish an apprentice properly after a rather nasty yet genuinely well-meaning and amusing prank." Besides, adults in the Cascade were like adults out of a kitten's tale—completely and utterly useless, leaving the apprentices to do the work. Though, the majority of "apprentices" his age were now warriors. However, they were new to their ranks and held little influence; to make matters worse, they couldn't be spotted acting insolently without facing full repercussions for their behavior. Eh, Halepen'd survived. He did understand why medicine cats were stereotypically always either weak, disabled, overly religious, or simply grumpy, now.

Basmatiswerve | Gladehunter | male | 44 moons | Tags: Sanderlingfrost [TidalClan; DaniCalifornia]
"Oh?" the gladehunter mused. "I doubt you have, though I see no harm in sharing." He thought for a moment, then recalled, "The last time I visited the cove—a few moons ago—I encountered a deer the size of a mouse, something resembling a small, fuzzy, twoleg; and a large fish with a hole atop its head that splurts out water." Genuinely curious about the other feline's reaction, Basmatiswerve motioned for Sanderlingfrost to speak.

    Rhizomecinder | Cyclone Champion | male | 57 moons | Tags: Cloudynight [HazeClan; NightWolf950]
A simple answer. Rhizomecinder accepted the offered seat, then mused, "My sister and I learned to heal out of necessity. Later, her apprentice came to her to fulfill a prophecy." Really, the Cascade rarely did things normally. "I no longer serve as a healer; instead, I defend camp as the Cyclone Champion—the leader of that certain rank." His whiskers twitched. "Do you train a healer's apprentice?"

Orchidpaw | Torrent | female | 13 moons | Tags: Catopsispaw [ParagonClan; Chamrosh]
"Oripendularstar," Orchidpaw echoed. Now if any name needed repeating, it was that one. It was nearly as worse as Rhododendronthunder. With a grin, the torrent confirmed, "Yeah! Well—actually, no. I mean, there is a waterfall, but it's deep in the rainforest and they don't let anyone without proper training visit." A glint appeared in Orchidpaw's eyes. "But our leader, Silverstar, goes every other moon, and she let me come with her once! It's actually, like, multiple waterfalls. Surrounded by flowers and there's this mossy log to walk across—it's beautiful!" At Catopsispaw's second question, Orchidpaw shook her head in amusement. "Champion Gladehunter is his rank. That means he's the leader of the gladehunters—they're called that because they hunt specifically in the glade. There are all these special skills they need to learn! Like—flocking and herping. I'm training to be a gladehunter." The torrent added, "His name's Basmatiswerve, after a plant, and swerve because he'd really good at turning quickly—good reflexes are essential for catching slippery snakes, so I guess that's sort of a skill suffix." Orchidpaw paused for a moment, then realized, "Wait—does the leader assign apprentices in your clan? Did Oripendularstar choose you? In mine, the mentors are allowed to pick whoever they want to be their apprentice! All warriors are supposed to watch the kits for potential—they almost always end up play-fighting when two warriors want the same future apprentice."

Aulandrapaw | Torrent | female | 10 moons | Tags: Snowballpaw [SnowClan; beebun]
...oh. That wasn't good. Definitely wasn't good because now Aulandrapaw felt this absurd need to cheer up her best friend. "Well," she said, and she wasn't sure whether it would work or maje things worse but it was worth a try. "All the apprentices in my clan are trying this thing—we're gonna pick a special day to bring presents to our mentors and surprise them all because they think we don't appreciate them but we really do. Um..." And she knew that Snowballpaw might be mentorless at this moment; maybe not, but not with her real mentor... "Maybe you could try organizing something like that in your clan? It might make you popular and increase everyone's morale. Or you could do it for siblings, or parents, or... or give the high ranks a day off? They're probably really stressed out, considering—"

Gathering - April 2021 - 5

Postby Chamrosh » Sat Apr 10, 2021 12:23 pm

xxxGustclan
xxxxxxxxBringing: Leadership: Heronstar (F) Chubtail (M) Teasel-leaf (M) Ploverstripe (M)
xxxxxxxxxxxxxWarriors&Apps: Noctulepath Zirconstorm Merlindash
Fioled Squirrelclaw

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ Heronstar 99 Seal point long-furred molly with blue eyes @Ivystar
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Heronstar was pleased to see the younger leader wanting to spend time with her. She mightn't be the most militarily strategic leader to speak to, but it was nice to see that her age was not such a barrier to new friends. Really, she quite liked to know she was still capable of meeting new cats who wanted her company (even if she were the one to initiate it). Her pleasure probably showed on her face, in the little twitches in her whiskers, and perhaps in the very gentle purr-like tone in her next few sentences.
xxx"Well met; and a pleasure to meet you too. I am Heronstar, founder of my clan." Heronstar gestured beside herself, and where she was sitting, inviting the younger leader to join her. No use in needless formality between leaders, was there? Not that she came off as informal, but that was really just her manner. Everyone in her clan knew she didn't expect anyone to copy her speech patterns back to her.
xxx"I have been leading my clan since before I was your age. In some sense, I have been leading since before I was appointed such by Starclan. I am quite happy to give whatever advice you feel you need. I would not like to see my experience disappear to the ether once I am gone." It wasn't a very transparent invitation; but an invitation it was, none the less. One to ask for whatever advice on running a clan she might want from her. Of course, Heronstar wasn't going to hold Ivystar to anything. What worked in Gustclan might fail catastrophically in another clan, and she would try to temper her advice through that, but she also trusted that any strong leader would be able to judge that for themselves and what applied to their own clan.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxChubtail 95 Brown (Black mackerel) tabby tom with white patches and yellow eyes @Open
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTeasel-leaf 26 Grey (black mackerel) tabby tom with brown eyes and white undersides @Owlglare and Shadowgaze!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Teasel-leaf snickered slightly at the idea of them not being instantly seen as mates. It was Noctulepath that explained his actual thoughts, though;
xxx"I have seen cats who were actual mates looking less likely to be mates." She looked across at Teasel-leaf, sideways. "Not that it needs public commentary, perhaps, but I can certainly see it."
xxxTeasel-leaf nodded, pleased that she had so readily agreed with his own conclusion.
xxx"There's a natural sort of chemistry between the two of you. In the subtle things too; how you agree to disagree on the obvious, for instance." Noctulepath nodded alongside Teasel-leaf's comment.
xxxNoctulepath's ears flicked, trying to hear more clearly.
xxx"I'm Noctulepath, and this fluff-head-" "Hey! -"Is Teasel-leaf, our head medicine cat." She leaned back slightly, in a confident and happy posture. "Good to meet you both."
xxx"I'm not a fluff-head." Teasel-leaf muttered, beneath his breath. "Anyway... You guys are clearly future mates in the making. And clearly, other cats have pointed out before, as you just said, and great minds do think alike-"
xxx"And fools seldom differ." Noctulepath muttered, with a strongly affectionte tone despite the words themselves. "If other cats have noticed, and we noticed so quickly, there has to be some evidence for it, right?"

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxPloverstripe 40 Mediumhaired black mackie tabby tom with white spotting and hazel eyes @Moosestar
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ploverstripe didn't really get to actually offering a paw to help, and instead leaned forward awkwardly, half-offering; not wanting to seem presumptuous about the physical contact, but also wanting to show he was willing to help if the help was wanted at all.
xxxListening to her words, and following the train of her focus, Ploverstripe put the dots together fairly quickly.
xxx"It's, um. It is hard, sometimes, yes. But whoever it is, she's in Starclan now, and she's bound to be looking over you. You know, sometimes Starclan's cats will visit other cats in dreams, even when they're not medicine cats or leaders yet. Maybe... Maybe she'll do that for you." His voice was soft, and quiet, and slow. It might seem like he was trying to be gentle, but it was really just because he wanted to make sure his wordings didn't sound stupid to him.
xxxPloverstripe shuffled a little closer again, not leaning against her himself, but offering it if that would be helpful to her at all.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxNoctulepath 82 Shorthair black mackerel tabby molly with low white and hazel eyes @Shadowgaze, Owlglare
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
[ see Teasel-leaf ]

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxZirconstorm 16.-75 Shorthair ginger ticked tabby tom with lime green eyes @Peachtea of Hazelclan
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Zirconstorm's maths had obviously been taking hold in Gustclan. He'd stopped being teased for being 16 and negative three quarters' moons old (except from by Umbrastep, who didn't like him for some unfathomable reason). Teasel-leaf had adopted his heximal system of counting in litters instead of just saying "many" when a number got higher than 6. Heronstar had acknowledged that he was younger than Xerxes but older than her grandkits. Life was going well, both for him and for maths, for when life was going well for maths, it would go well for him, and how could his life go well without maths?
xxxHe'd asked Chubtail many times to discuss his maths more seriously and impliment the heximal system properly, and apparently that had worked, because after asking at least 3 times a day for at least half a litter of moons, Chubtail had said he could pass it on to other clans by coming to the gathering, as long as he stopped asking.
xxxThis seemed fair to Zirconstorm.
xxxChubtail hadn't said anything to him about not starting asking again afterwards, but Zirconstorm would avoid that if this trip was successful.
xxxTime to find someone who looked like they could do with learning about the wonders of maths, and had something useful to apply the maths to!
xxxThe ginger tom trotted happily in among the cats, looking for anyone who had the right vibes for what he was looking for. He was sure he'd know them when he spotted them.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxMerlindash 44 Longhaired black classic tabby tom with lime green eyes and low white @Open
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxGors Lle Fioled Yn Tyfu 14 Mediumhair grey mackerel tabby tom with mid-white and piercing blue eyes; apprentice. @Lynxcry
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Fioled nodded, pleased that his name had been pronounced at least close enough for his liking. He'd not had many issues with cats struggling with his name, but that was more due to lack of exposure to cats
who were otherwise unfamiliar with him.
xxx"What... sort of things do you mean by it being easier?" Fioled didn't particularly care if he revealed himself as an apprentice, although he'd prefer not to. He tried to use a tone that implied he'd been a loner rather than currently was an apprentice.
xxxFioled tilted his head a little, hesitating in how to phrase his curiosity. "How come you hadn't met her before? I assume she's from a different clan, but how come she did not visit you before that?"

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSquirrelclaw 26 Longhaired ginger ticked tabby molly with amber eyes @Open
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x

🐍xxxParagonclan
xxxxxxxxBringing: Leadership: Oripendularstar )(Ori) (F) Crackerheart (NB) Toucanfur (F)
xxxxxxxxxxxxxWarriors&Apps: Sabrestorm Porcelainfur Catopsispaw

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx★★★★★★★★★ Oripendularstar (Ori) 41 Solid black molly with dull copper eyes @Crown of Embers
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Oripendularstar was a little... confused by the gesture given back to her, at why she had merited him crouching like that at her. In return, she tilted her head, and then bowed her head slightly, somewhat imitating, but still coming across as gently confused.
xxx"That's good. They've been bountiful for us too. And apparently our apprentices are running well, too." There was just the tiniest hint of amusement in her tone (perhaps a surprise that Ori was capable of positive emotion?) as her eyes moved pointedly over to the clan's singular apprentice, Catopsispaw, giving some poor hapless stranger a surprise hug. And apparently not being fought off for it, either, which was bizarre within the context of Paragonclan, at least.
xxx"And what of your other news? Any new queens? New warriors?" She would insist on using those titles, of course, and given her chosen nickname for Crown of Embers, she was bound to deliberately butcher any warrior's name to fit her preconceived notion of a warrior's name, and then, if any offense were taken, just lean into her foreign-ness, her sing-song accent, as her excuse, if she could even be bothered to give an explanation for why her ideas were correct.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxCrackerheart (Polillapuksi'ik'al) 55 Enormous steel-grey and black mackerel tabby cat with long fur and dull green eyes @Hawkstorm
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Crackerheart listened carefully, taking several moments to decode what was said to their satisfaction, and then nodded every time they'd worked something out.
xxx"Paragonclan is South of here, in big forest, also, but the trees are less big here. Have been to gathering a few times before, is nice to meet new cat." Crackerheart looked over to where he was pointing at the other clan's leader, trying to work out who was there in particular and who was being pointed out in particular. "King? What is king? We have leader. Is different?"

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxToucanfar (Panch'eelyoot'el) 34 Large solid tortoiseshell molly, bar from one tiny dot of white on her tail tip. She has toxic green eyes @Open
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSabrestorm 26 Large short hair bicolour grey tom, with dull yellow eyes @Open
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxPorcelainfur 37 Large mediumhair red silver classic tabby tom, with low white spotting and heterochromia @Open
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
x

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxCatopsispaw 9 Small short-hair calico molly with dull yellow eyes App to Oripendularstar @Orchidpaw
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Catopsispaw's ears visibly perked, and she made another happy bounce. Her jaw dropped at the description, clearly thinking about how pretty that had to be; maybe even wondering if she could visit to see it in person. "Paragonclan's in a rainforest too! Maybe we're actually close together! We should work out how close together our clans are and then maybe we can visit each other between gatherings too! Oripendularstar says being friends with cats in other clans is good, as long as your loyalty is still in your own clan, so I think she'd like that if we can visit each other!" Catopsispaw barely breathed as she let out her enthusiasm for her idea.
xxxCatopsispaw frowned a tiny bit in confusion at the role of the gladehunters. Paragonclan didn't have any equivalent to that at all. She wasn't even entirely sure what herding even was. "So you have different types of hunters for different parts of the territory?" She sounded confused but also mildly impressed by that description.
xxxCatopsispaw nodded proudly. "Ori picked me to be her apprentice! Although, um, that might not be quite so special, because only she and Polillapu'uksi'ikal were part of the clan first. But it's still special! We haven't had any apprentices or kits yet, so I don't know how Oripendularstar will handle it, but that sounds clever, to watch the kits. I think I'll say that's how your clan does it, because it's really smart!" unsaid, in this, was the fact that Catopsispaw had no friends of her own age within her clan, and that this was the reason for the level of enthusiasm with her initial surprise hug, and that she really liked the idea of seeing how close their clans were so they could play together more often; and meet up as warriors, too!

Re: CascadeClan — Fifth Gathering — April [12]

Postby /nyx. » Sat Apr 10, 2021 4:41 pm

"Wait, really?" Orchidpaw realized, her eyes widening at the possibility. Even in the old legends, the Cascade had stood isolated and alone. If there were actually cats, another clan, secretly living somewhere near them... "Yes, we should," the torrent agreed. But first—there were four different types of rainforests as far as she could tell. "Leopards, jaguars, koalas, or seals?" Orchidpaw asked. "They don't live anywhere near each other. My clan tells myths about clouded leopards, so if you've heard of the other three, then our clans are probably far away."

At the next question, the feline nodded. "Yeah! Because the territory is so varied and it's better if someone's really good at even only one thing instead of terrible at everything! We have skullhunters who hunt in the rainforest—it's really dangerous there; hawk-eagles and bay cats and all. And then gladehunters hunt in the swamp, and hayhunters get super close to the twolegs and hunt at their farms! Every hunter knows a specific set of skills—like hayhunters need to know how to trick twolegs and skullhunters need to fight off crested serpent eagles!"

A newer clan, huh. Orchidpaw knew that the Cascade was somehow old and young at the same time—something about legends and rebirth or something like that. As for Polilapu-something... yeah, Orchidpaw had given up trying to remember those names awhile back. And she'd thought the Cascade was bad, naming half there members after insults and poisons on accident. Somehow. On accident.

"I wish I could see how your clan grows!" Orchidpaw gushed. "It must be super cool to be one of the original members! And Oripendularstar did choose you, and that's special—it doesn't matter that you're the only one," the torrent reassured, "she could've assigned you to the deputy or waited until there were more cats before teaching you anything!"

They're probably really stressed out, considering—"

the fallen

one|leader|tom|open

one stepped into the clearing, smokefur was walking alongside him. smokefur had been sticking to his side a lot recently, and one suspected it was due to his dislike for badgermask. he glanced over his shoulder at the she-cat who was walking alongside her daughter hornetpaw. he watched as she sent the apprentice off to go chat while she went to find someone to talk to herself. one stayed beside smokefur expecting the medicine cat to stay near him the whole night.

badgermask|deputy|molly|open

badgermask was not walking among the higher ranks as she had hoped. but hornetpaw insisted on badgermask walking with her into her first gathering, and she just couldn't say no. she looked down at the smaller cat, a tinge of pride filling her as she saw her daughter's yellow eyes wide with curiosity about the gathering. the group came to a halt. "why don't you go find some other apprentices to chat with? i'll be talking with other cats if you need me." hornetpaw excitedly nodded her head and headed off, badgermask watched her disappear into the crowd.

smokefur|med cat|tom|open

smokefur was keeping a close eye on one. he didn't expect badgermask to do anything to him at the gathering, but he didn't like her talking to him. she was beating him in their little game they were playing, and was succeeding at getting one to trust her. he thought that if he can keep one as far away from her it would remove some of her influence. he sat next to one, not engaging in any conversation but keeping a close eye on badgermask.

hornetpaw|apprentice|molly|open

hornetpaw was happily walked alongside her mother, badgermask, she was excited to come to the gathering and made it a point to brag to her siblings. she was mostly excited to meet new cats, she always asked badgermask to tell her stories of the gathering every time she went to one and wanted to befriend cats from all these new clans. her excitement grew when badgermask told her to head off and find some other apprentices to chat with. she bounded off into the sea of cats looking for conversation.

Cocoaclan

Ice Cream - He / Him - 45 moons - OPEN: Deputies, Leaders, Warriors
The deputy strolled casually into the gathering. It had been awhile since he'd come, and he was enjoying the break from his own clan's chaos and Pizzastar's ever increasing list of potential names for all the apprentices and kits. Right now, she was likely in the queen's den, helping the queens there plan out some names for their kids.
Ice Cream sniffed the air curiously, then started to stroll towards the deputy and leader area. Maybe today he'd meet someone new, or an old friend would find him.

Sodapop - He / Him - 16 moons - TAGS: Darry, Ponyboy
The young warrior bounded into the gathering excitedly, leaving the other Cocoaclan cats behind as he peered through the cats for his brothers. They would be so excited to hear he'd found his own clan after they'd gone their own ways looking for homes! He'd missed his bros so much!
His excitement faded a bit as he realized they were early, he knew he was part of the reason as he'd pushed everyone with his own joy, but that didn't quench his spirit in the slightest. Instead, he found a small vantage point and started to spin slowly, ready to greet his bros as soon as they entered the gathering!

Croissant - She/Her - 49 moons - OPEN: Warriors
Peeking back at her apprentice, Croissant smiled. She'd requested this trip to give him a fun adventure out of the clan, though Snoball had decided to stay home this time. Croissant didn't mind much, rather looking forward to how happy she'd be to see her wife when she got back home. Not paying much attention, she wandered off to relax in a nice sunny patch of grass, where she could watch her apprentice with one eye as she chatted with those who also came to laze in the sun, which was warm and gentle on her skin.

Lambpaw - He / Him - 9 moons - OPEN: Apprentices
Lambpaw saw his mentor wander off, and sighed internally. He'd asked to come here, excited to see all the other cats, but so early in the gathering, it just appeared to be a lot of boring adults. As if to prove how boring adults were, Croissant was currently getting comfy in the sunlight. Something that Lamb would never admit was really nice when no one was looking, the warm sun on his similarly naked skin. Only because it seemed super duper uncool to like something an adult, especially your mentor, liked.
He gazed around, desperate to find another apprentice to talk to him. Before he felt the pressure (and NO temptation here thank you) to join his mentor in the warm, warm, not at all tempting sunlight.
Look at this man.

He doesn't have a problem, but if he did, he'd probably ask you to donate to his hoard. Luckily, he doesn't have a problem.

Re: CascadeClan — Sixth Gathering — May [1]

CASCADECLAN has arrived!
Attending: Silverstar, Aldernight, Shoreabranch, Halepen, Orchidpaw, Jadepaw, Errantpaw, Kalsedonpaw, Embikpaw

Silverstar | Eye of the Cascade | female | 44 moons | Tags: closed? [clan; username]
Silverstar waits patiently for someone to approach her.

Aldernight | Storm's Tempest | male | 47 moons | open to all! [clan; username]
Aldernight glowers at no one in particular.

Shoreabranch | Skullhunter | female | 46 moons | Tags: closed? [clan; username]
Shoreabranch wonders if she has a reason for being here.

Halepen | Aura of Ripples | male | 18 moons | Tags: open to healers! [clan; username]
Halepan glances around the clearing, making sure that all the apprentices are in sight. He's supposed to be supervising them although they're all responsible enough to watch themselves.

Orchidpaw | Torrent | female | 16 moons | Tags: open to all! [clan; username]
Orchidpaw smiles cheekily at Halepan, laughing quietly at his exasperated huff. She nods at Jadepaw, grinning as the younger apprentices wander off.

Jadepaw | Honorary Seeker / Torrent | female | 12 moons | Tags: open to healer apprentices! [clan; username]
Jadepaw meets Halepan's gaze for a moment, then stalks off to find someone else to speak with.

Errantpaw | Torrent | male | 12 moons | Tags: open to all! [clan; username]
Errantpaw sprints around the outer clearing, wondering if anyone will join him and run.

Kalsedonpaw | Torrent | female | 12 moons | Tags: open to all! [clan; username]
Kalsedonpaw watches her siblings from a distance, then searches for someone to converse with.

Embikpaw | Torrent | male | 12 moons | Tags: Lambpaw [CocoaClan; DadjokeNess]
Embikpaw glanced around, frowning as his siblings strolled over to opposite sides of the clearing. They were asked to stay together by Silverstar herself, but it seemed that no one actually listened to her little spiel. The torrent huffed a laugh, then wandered over to another apprentice. "Hey, there," he greeted amiably. "I'm Embikpaw of CascadeClan. Mind if I hang out for awhile?"
