All that I felt was heart break.
We were young, true, but then again,
time or age does not rid oneself of memories.
Now does it?
I suppose it makes little difference though.
She's left, and I'll never see her again.
Well, at least that was my belief at that point,
maybe though, just maybe, time can prove me wrong.
Maybe all that matters is that I'm me,
I still live, and that maybe someday, I will get over her.

Kerica [♀] and Lumei [♂]

He clutched his bleeding side, breathing heavily. After being caught stealing food from the travelers, they had been sure to make him pay. But perhaps this was better than dying a slow death from hunger? He staggered to the door of a crumbling castle, hoping to find someone to help him, or at least a quiet place to die. The doorknocker made a terrific noise as he frantically banged it against its door.

I heard an odd sound--the sound of my doorknocker against my door. It was odd as most people knew of me and tended to stay away. Me, the monster.

I swung open the door with some effort, and, to my horror, found a bleeding man on my step. Oh, no. It had been some time since I had seen a person; I had been surviving off the blood of animals, which couldn't keep me going forever, unfortunately. And now there was a person lying straight outside my front door, bleeding to boot.

He was obviously going to die without help, and I had once been a nurse. After a second of deliberation, I helped him up and pulled him in, trying not to smell the blood. Trying to keep control.

Oh, the woman's arms were so cold. He could tell she wasn't an angel, as he had been imagining. So cold, so cold...he was slipping into unconsciousness...everything was so cold, even him, so cold...

I took off his shirt, looking for the source of the blood. There it was, a large, knife-made gash, too large to be survived at this point. He was going to die.

But...I could save his life. Turn him into a vampire, like me...but was a life as a monster better than death? No, it certainly wasn't. I'd much rather be dead and in Heaven than how I was now.

An idea popped into my mind: if he was going to die anyway, what was the harm in taking it quickly instead of leaving him to bleed his life out slowly onto my floor? Yes, that way I could avoid killing or turning someone else into a vampire, and nothing would happen to the young man than would've happened anyway. So, I did.

But I couldn't. I was so afraid to kill people; it wasn't fair that of all people, me, a nurse, should have become a vampire. I had to, though, now. I couldn't just leave him as he was, for he wouldn't die unless he lost every bit of blood. As he was now, he would become a monster, like me. I couldn't let that happen.

Then he moved his head. Just tilted it to the side. And I knew I couldn't do it.

The man opened his eyes, and saw the woman a few feet away.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." she said, crying. Sorry for what, the man wondered. Then he saw something: her canine teeth--were they not a little long, a little like fangs?

"I'm sorry..." She wiped her hand against her watery eyes, succeeding in wiping blood on her face. Oh. Oh. She was a vampire.

Shoot.

...

Eee, kinda freaked myself out writing this. xD
