She watched the exchange with a sharp, aching pain in her chest. "I'm so sorry, Tanglefur," she said. "Ashlight got him while he was protecting the kits that had wandered out." She looked at the deputy, only able to meet her eyes for a second. "You have to say goodbye."

"Take care of the kits Tanglefur" I said as my spirit ascended from my body and my starry spirit stood over my lifeless body. I whispered to my mate "If you just call, I will always be there" I then continued my journey to Starclan

Tanglefur's heart broke. She curled up next to her mate. She intertwined her tail with his and groomed his fur just like the first night they were officially mates. She could feel that he was getting weaker. "I love you," she whispered.

"Ivorykit! Badgerkit! Cloverkit! Come say goodbye to your father!" She called, her voice cracking with sadness.

And just like that, Bramblewind was gone. She clamped her mouth shut as tears dripped onto the ground. She closed her eyes and lifted her muzzle towards the sky. "May StarClan guide your way," she whispered.

A sudden feeling of panic surged through Badgerkit's body and negitive thoughts filled him. This is my fault! I had convinced my sisters to go through with the adventure. I should have listened when Cloverkit told me about it being a bad idea to talk to Ashlight. It is my fault that my father is dying. If I had not done any of that, my father would be fine and healthy right now.
