      hello!
My border collie pup Beau is doing really well. He’s 4 months old now and he is an absolute gem. He’s very calm around the cat and overall has a really nice nature.

The one problem that we’re having is bedtime; he does not want to get in his crate for bed. I don’t know if it’s the crate itself he doesn’t like (he happily goes in and out during the day and sleeps perfectly through the night) or if he’s actually just so tired and doesn’t want to be moved, but right before I try putting him inside he lies down in the corner of the room or under the sofa and will not budge. Every night is such an effort to get him inside so I’m starting to wonder if now is an okay time to let him sleep outside the crate through the night? With my last dog she pulled her bed out of the crate and under the table to tell us she was ready and im thinking that’s what beau is doing here.

Is it okay to let him sleep out of the crate so young? If it is, is there any particular way I should be going about this? I would be worried about him chewing the walls but I have baby gates I could use to block the corners. He’s never had any accidents during the night so I’m not really concerned about that

      Thank you!

@lisica, you can always test it for a night and see how he acts! if there's unwanted behaviour, go back to the crate for a while. sounds like he's a very good boy at nighttime, so i definitely wouldn't worry too much about being strict on the crate training :)

^Aww! max is so cute!

So I came here to see if anyone has good birthday treat ideas for their pups? My Australian shepherd, Mazie is turning 2 years old tomorrow (the 8th)!!! So I'm going to make her some kind of treat, so let me know if your pups like any certain recipe or if you have a good dog treat site! Thank you!

      happy birthday Mazie!!! <3
on my Skye's 12th birthday in june I made her something similar to these pancakes (without the cute designs lol) on the dogs trust site and she loved them. usually i would buy her a pupcake from a shop not far from me but it had closed during pandemic so this was our alternative. i can't find the exact recipe but this one looks quick and easy if that's what you're going for!

hope you and mazie are having a wonderful day <3

I'm proud of my boy lol, I gave him the entire box of his treats for after dinner(basically it's full of rabbit ears...), to see what he would do because he knows he always gets to have one after his dinner. He sniffed the box and picked one out and took it away to eat! (Instead of what I thought he'd do which would have been to grab as many as he could and run away with them all)

I'm just really happy that he's well behaved/trained enough to know how many treats he's allowed to have!

(and of course the puppy tax of Ayrton, 7 month old Cockapoo boy who looks like a piece of fried chicken)

Thank you for the suggestion! I ended up making a peanut butter oatmeal (and other ingredient) batter and baked them in a muffin sheet. Then I stacked 2 and put Greek yogurt on it with a number 2 candle (not lit) for some pictures 😂 she loved it and I made one for our golden, Oakley, too! I’ll have to try that treat someday though!! Our dogs eat literally everything haha!

Mazie went for a long walk, ate treats and got new toys and lots of extra snuggles for her Birthday. Definitely a fun day for us both :)

Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe
