Strike wandered the vast wasteland, his burly head swinging as he searched for a resting place. Among the dry plants, he smelled an acrid, tangy scent. His brother, Howl, paused and followed the scent, Strike following after. "What is it, Howl?" Howl bcked away, a little frightened. "Fire, must have been from the sun. Thank Free Sky that its coming to fall..." Strike nodded, and pushed onward. Some time passed before he had spotted water, and a sheltered overhang near. "Brother! Will we rest here until after winter?" Hound nodded, busy with drinking. Strike smiled, and barked into the night. "THIS IS OUR TERRITORY NOW!" He barked again, and heard no response. Now it seemed, they had work to do...

STORY
"There. Let's get inside before it gets any colder." The wind at our haunches bit and whistled at us as we ducked inside of one of the old bunkers. Few were still standing, the freezing and thawing of ice led the dirt to be unstable, but this one seemed the most safe. We needed it, the coming autumn was deadlier than many dogs thought. While my brother and I were used to such conditions, they still sapped your life until you couldn't get up from a rest.
"I can't smell any food in here."
"The humans probably cleared it out. They eat more than us, and their packs are much larger," I pulled burlap sacks into a loose pile and blankets for us. "It's not perfect, but it's enough to keep warm. Come're." Meltdown's tail wagged as he trotted up to me, pressing his muzzle to my chest affectionately. I licked his ear before ducking into the miniature cave of sacks.

"Fallout..?"
"Yes?"
"Did our humans abandon us?" I could hear the hollow sadness in his voice. Looking to him, he looked like all of winter was bound into his stomach and making him ache.
"No... no," I sighed. "No our humans wanted us. They had to go, Meltdown. They had to. You know how they're not supposed to cry? I heard them both, I heard them crying the night before they left us." It was... a convenient lie. Now was not the time tell him the truth of the battle that day. Maybe I could never bring myself to tell him.

An Artists Torment

All Vincent could do was run. Guns went off in the distance, and...it was something he couldn't bear. His owners were gone. The guns had stopped now. He slowed down, his fur clinging to him in the rain. Thunder rolled- it was much softer than the guns. He laid beneath a tree, to sleep and hope to find a place to sleep. When he woke up, the rain stopped, but his paws were sore. How far had he ran? He didn't know. He shook his fur- leaves and damp grass flung off his fur. He walked for what seemed like hours and...he found a cave. 'Yes,' He thought. 'This could work.' He fell asleep soon, sung to sleep by...a voice? His dreams were a mess- dogs that seemed to be made of random things- water, fire- and stars. The stars were so pretty. 'Don't worry, young Vincent. This has happened for a reason.' The large dog bent down, her starry nose touching his. He then awoke, daylight pouring in. It was time to start an adventure.

Found Hound Fallout

It is now WINTER. The trees are bare, and the air is chilling to the bone. In some areas, the landscape is now
covered in a layer of powdery, white snow. The territories feel barren ─ beside the kennel, rarely is a stray
bird or wandering creature spotted. It's eerily silent, beside the howling of the breeze through empty forests.
The kennels should expect less prey, higher chance fatalities, more chances of sickness, less dogs discovered
on patrols, less herbs, more difficult birthing, more stillborns, more predators, and more weather events...

01 | SOVEREIGN OF APOLLO


⟶ The Sovereign of Apollo does not starve.

Patrols

• Natia, Aristaeus, Lili, and Caroline begin their patrol on a relatively low-note - they're not very hopeful, to say the least. Winter has fallen upon their lands and there isn't much to enjoy about it. The air is cold, wearing on a dog's bones. Finding even any trace of a potential meal seems nearly impossible. Despite the conditions, the hunting patrol somehow manages to snatch themselves x1 small bird.

• Arwywn, Daila, Roger, and Charlie trek across the barren landscape. It's quiet, though the dogs are still on their highest alert. They begin their patrol toward the east, following their borders around to the south, then the west... Until suddenly, they're attacked by an aggressive rogue.
↪ Charlie fights with as much as his strength as he can, but the rogue easily injures him, being that he's such a young apprenti. He loses his tail all the way down to a little stub in the battle. He will need x1 cobwebs and x1 raspberry leaves, as well as 2 moons of rest to heal his wounds. After he is healed, he may continue his training.
• Aniko, Minerva, Amadeus, and Alclippe begin their patrol with higher hopes than the one before them, mainly because they had been... somewhat successful, considering the conditions. Unfortunately, they weren't as lucky. They return to camp with nothing in paw.

• Nimbus manages to gather x1 wild garlic, despite most of the vegetation dying back in the cold and losing its leaves.


Training

• Charlie and Dahila successfully learn a new skill during their training.


Other

• Jamyang and Ophelia take well from their rest and the medical attention they receive from the Oracle, healing completely from their wounds. They may now return to patrols.

• Mey gives birth to three healthy pups. Unfortunately, the cold weather wasn't kind on her birthing. During labor, she loses one of the pups.

02 | THE FAMILIARS


⟶ The Familiars do not starve. [ 2/3 fasting posts ]
↪ Upon request, a Rough Collie healer has arrived.

Patrols

• Oliver, Odette, Zakhar, Griffin, Eloise, and Borya begin their hunt, noticing the shift in the temperatures. Their winter coats have begun to grow thick. They go about, scavenging for their rations as usual. One would think there would continue to be an abundance of food to scrap from humans, seeming that they never cease to trash their extras. But, somehow, its decreased during the cooler months. They manage to scavenge x1 human food scraps and x1 bone.

• Odette, Habaki, Zahkar, Griffin, Eloise, and Borya go about their patrol. They keep their eyes and ears alert, never missing a movement nor a sound. Along their patrol, Griffin starts to drag behind - their paws shuffle across the ground, their head hung low. They begin to feel... off. By the time the patrol finishes and returns to camp, Griffin collapses to the ground in exhaustion. He has fallen gravely ill.
↪ Griffin has contracted a sickness, what exactly it is remains unknown. He will need 2 moons to rest and x1 feverfew to quell the symptoms. Hopefully he will recover soon.


Training

• Pavel successfully passes his final assessment! He may now continue on to his chosen career.



03 | FOUND HOUND FALLOUT


⟶ The Found Hound Fallout does not starve. [ 1/3 fasting posts ]

Patrols

• Fallout and Meltdown begin their patrol, still buzzing with the excitement of starting the Found Hounds. They begin along, and it seems they were somehow able to scavenge x1 honeycomb, somehow leftover from the warmer months, its hive empty and easily raided for the sweet honey within.

↪ Along the way, the pair catch the scent of a trespasser on the wind. Send a patrol next moon specifically to track the loner's scent to dispel of the threat, if there is any.

• Fallout and Meltdown go about their borders, making sure they're holding strong to keep the unwanted intruders out. Along the way, they come across a Belgian Shepherd. They seem interested in the pair, and even spark a conversation with them. Upon given the offer, they are more than interested in joining the Found Hounds.



04 | AN ARTISTS TORMENT

Wild Hounds - The brave and bold.

Wild Hounds is a pack of dogs who live in the forest. They shelter under large trees and make dens in caves or fox dens. They hunt woodland animals very close to the outskirts of their territory.

When it's time to speak to their Wolf Ancestors, they travel far to the Bright Star (North Star) and the leader will sit in vigil, talking in their mind with their old leaders. They believe in their wolf ancestors have the ability to deliver prophecies of good things and sometimes bad.

They believe that their Wolf Ancestors like being called Pack of the Dead or Pack of the Stars. It depends on each wolf in the sky. The first wolf to join the Bright Star was a wolf named Zekos. Zekos was a bold leader.

The ranks include: Alphas, the leaders of the group. Usually 1-2 but can range from 3-5; Beta, the second in command. They lead patrols, and will become Alpha after the Alpha(s) die(s); Shaman, the healer of the pack; Hunters, they hunt for the pack and usually go on patrols; Guards, they guard the territory. They will often swap each other out from time to time, sometimes even swapping with Hunters; Tenderpaws, training to become a Hunter, Guard, or Shaman; Omega, poorly treated wolves that are exiled from the pack and their territory; Nurse, pregnant dogs or dogs guarding puppies; Pups, babies.

I’d like to join!

The whistle pack lives in the abandoned city of Schreave. Canines of all shapes and sizes roam the overgrown streets, trying to survive.

The pack sleeps in an abandoned house. Using whatever blankets and soft things they can find. They hunt in three main places, the city; the meadow, and the forest.

The pack mostly consists of medium to large dogs, but they do have some smaller dogs.

The go to an overgrown park, where the tallest tree with beautiful pink flowers grows. This is the site where they speak to their ancestors. A chosen dog, usually the alpha, will climb inside the deep hole at the base of the tree. No more than three dogs can fit.
