"Those are bold words coming from someone who's sending society spinning." Death allowed himself a smile. Malcolm had a touch of devious charm, he'd give him that much. The defense minister's companion reacted about as well as Nick could expect, though it occurred to him too late that the Mist failed to veil his wings. "Normally I'm better about that." a quick apology. Internally, he wondered if Malcolm planned to give the poor man an explanation. If not, Nicholas did enjoy giving introductions. Was that narcissistic? Probably, but that he knew spawned from his horseman spirit rather than his own. It is my own. He reminded himself. "Just give it a few minutes, it'll click somewhere down the line." Death assured, eyes wandering around the room. It was too bright with the lights on for him to carry such a large group with his limited umbrakinesis, so in a swift motion of showmanship, a wing extended to cut the lights.

He whiffed.

"Are you kidding me?" he tried once more before realizing the switch was just beyond his reach. Death marched over to the door and slapped the switch, clearly irritated. "Ten-foot wingspan and I can't even reach a damn light switch." he grumbled, returning to the group with firm hands on each of their shoulders. The death diety's eyes seemed eerier than before, bearing their own weak eyeshine uncanny for a human. "If either of you is prone to motion sickness... sorry." It didn't sound genuine. A step forward robbed them of stable ground, yet the sensation of sudden falling lasted only a few seconds before they were spilled into a vast, icy chamber. The air inside was likely below freezing and the walls glittered with frost. Xaliphax grunted a greeting, flicking his tail to keep nonexistent flies at bay. "No need to be rude," the horseman parted from the mortal pair, producing a cube of ambrosia from his pocket. "I didn't forget, you're just an impatient little bugger." The ivory stallion plucked the divine food from the god's hand, enjoying the treat as its lacking eyes settled on the newcomers. "Khione will be around when she decides you're fit to meet her, but I haven't had a full introduction until you've met Xaliphax. He doesn't bite, so don't be shy." Death's words shifted to his steed. "Be nice, Xali."

"have you tried it?" orin asked, raising his eyebrows. "no. no you haven't. so you can't discount it. it's heaven on the tongue. gives you the firepower to defeat entire nations if you want to." he was being overzealous, but that felt right. a lick of the normal in the face of what had been so abnormal - especially after such a torrid conversation. it made things feel lighter, stomachable, and the looming dread took a few steps back. it would have to wait for its moment to shine again, for there were bigger things to converse about. namely, the legacy of the old renegade monk. "it's a godsend. if he can hear this right now, he's grinning from ear to damn ear." the shock at 'multiple' redbulls made him laugh further. "yeah, they got a watermelon, and a pineapple, it makes it all quite tropical. i know russia's not the most tropical place, but you have to do what you have to do."

"we have. we've done it. everyone else can go home. we've cracked the code. when this is over, i want it to be off with a bang. drum and bass, edm. i want the stars to align properly. spectacular." it was wishful thinking to believe that it would be over anytime soon, but he supposed that that was all that they had. "are you joking? he used to be the man about town. it's just when he's surrounded by kids that he can't fill with grog that he gets grumpy. i think he'd appreciate the rasputini." other gods coming to their proposed party - it was funny. "yeah. zeus can do the lights." as though he was talking directly to his father, he slapped the exposed rock to the right of him. "and i want 'em good. no faffing about."

orin considered auggie against her father, and slowly began to nod. "i think you could strike the fear of god into the god of the dead. i don't think that's ridiculous at all. he's got nothing on you. what's an army of the dead against your left hook? zilch. zip." he rolled his head back, up at the overcast sky. "do you wanna meet him?" it was a more serious question, one that he had pondered himself about his own father many a time. "do you think he lives up to the hype? any hype?"

"like i said. the best lines are genuine. or - genuineness makes the best lines. i'm not sure what comes first," malcolm said, countering the smile. he had, in his speech, peppered truth amongst the well-crafted lies. in fact, it would have been difficult to deny the objectivity of any of what he had said. he had provided the facts in a way that made them sound a tad more negative than they would have been if parrotted by one of the demigods he had smitten down. it made it all so much more entertaining.

whether hicks had decided that he had simply gone mad or if he was resigned to accepting the strange things that he had seen and heard over the course of the days he had been assigned to kingston was uncertain, but he seemed alright with it. as alright as one could be when confronted with new facts about their existence.
"daniel, this is nicholas storm. horseman of the apocalypse. death, really. but - you know, he's not here to claim you, so there's no worry, is there?"
an open-mouthed stare, another glance between the wings and the man, and once again, hicks' shoulders sagged a little. "no, sir. no worry. it's nice to... meet you, sir," he seemed unsure as to how to address storm, but that seemed like something to address later. the soldier flinched at the sudden movement of one of the wings, taking a sudden step back from the 'blast zone', but returned once the extension was no longer posable as an immediate threat.

the apology didn't serve as much of a warning for what was to happen. shadow travel - falling, almost infinitely, and then landing in freezing conditions. malcolm shook his head, cracking a suddenly stiff neck, with a grimace that would have felled an empire. "you need to check your suspension," he said through a lump in hs throat, checking briefly to see whether his guard was alright. he was, it appeared - far more concerned with the drop in temperature than his unsettled stomach. a reminder that the man had jumped out of helicopters in his past, malcolm thought. perhaps this was no different.

"it's got no eyes," hicks murmured as he pulled his coat on desperately, staring at the horse that they had received an introduction to. as well as he was taking things, the soldier didn't half have a knack for pointing out the obvious.
"he probably doesn't think you look particularly normal either, with that awful goatee," malcolm chided, reaching a hand out to death's noble steed with what could have been caution, but was more akin to respect. "xaliphax. excellent name. very esteemed." he was, almost subconsciously, stalling his rushing mind for the ice goddess' appearance to be made, but there was no harm in a bit of diplomacy before the crux of the matter came to hand.

Auggie shook her head at him again, trying and failing to suppress her smile in the attempt at a half-hearted, disapproving glare. “I don’t want to. I don’t care. I already have that power and I don’t need your crappy drink to do it.” She was being cocky in a ridiculous way, bragging over something that didn’t even make sense, but acting like she was above everything was still better than the uncontrollable sense of vulnerability she’d felt earlier on. It was easier to fake an ego than to be honest.

She rolled her eyes at the insistence that Rasputin would enjoy the drink being named after him. At the thought of mixing tropical redbull’s with...everything else, she made a face again, scrunching up her nose. “That still sounds disgusting.”

She smiled at the vision he painted, at the idea of actually doing something like that. The strangest part of the idea was the concept of any of this being over any time soon. She didn’t even want to ask what he meant by ‘this’. The snow? The quest? It was never really over for them, there was always a next crisis. There was never too long of a moment of rest. They didn’t get to have a victory party or retire from the fights with monsters and deities. She pushed the thought away. If the best they could get was a brief period of calm—pretending that nothing was wrong—then she wasn’t about to shatter the illusion. Not yet.

She considered the argument about Mr. D. He had a point, but she still wasn’t the biggest fan of the wine god—which was fine because she was fairly certain he didn’t like her either. “I mean, listen, if I had to deal with all these losers I’d be like that too but...” She trailed off, frowning as she realized she actually was ‘like that’ most of the time when dealing with the other kids at camp. “He still doesn’t have to be such a jerk all the time.” She raised her eyebrows when he slapped the rock, an amused expression as he spoke like he was ordering around the king of gods.

Auggie laughed at the response to her wanting to beat up her father. “I mean the guy lives in the underworld so he’s probably got like a vitamin D deficiency or something, right? He’s already weak, it’d be easy.” Her smile faded at the following question, brow furrowing in thought. “I don’t…” It was something she’d thought about before, many times, but not something she’d ever really found an answer to. As a kid she’d wished she could meet him, that he’d come and apologize for never visiting her before and that he’d be some golden figure for her to look up to. But she’d long since abandoned that fantasy, the hope being replaced with bitterness and resentment that often came with time and experience.

“I don’t think I do. If he doesn’t want to meet me why should I want to meet him?” That wasn’t exactly an answer. “Well he doesn’t really have the hype of your old man, does he? Most of the other gods don’t even like Hades.” She almost felt sympathy for him on that point—being stuck in his own dismal domain, being a god but being the god of something most mortals can't stand to think about. Almost, but not quite. She shook her head finally. “I don’t think he does. And I don’t care.” She looked over at Orin. “What about you?”

"well, you'd need the energy to do it. rasputin had never drank from the rasputini, but his powers would've been massively bolstered if he had. it's just like... a performance enhancer. like steroids. no. no it's not like steroids. forget i said it was like steroids." he backtracked very quickly at the thought, realising that there was something rather wrong with what he was proposing. "though a lance armstrong inspired cocktail does sound like it would pack a punch."

the conversation about dionysus made him nod. in all honesty, orin had some respect for the god. he had been sent down to look after children who were much less than what he was used to. the god had, in essence, been put on probation. it wasn't something he imagined was enjoyable. a rave may do enough to lift his spirits - get him back into the chaotic, delusion-loving deity that he had been in the myths of his origination. "i think he's cool. he hates me, don't get me wrong. when people thought i was his kid he nearly had a breakdown. ever since, he looks me up and down every time we cross paths, as if to be like 'how did anyone think that i had ever spawned something like you?'" he laughed at the thought. "he's probably immensely bored. i think this'd be good for him."

"oh, yeah, he's definitely anemic. i don't know why i feel that in my bones the way i do, but if he stood up too fast, that'd be game over for him," he said. the nature of the conversation did change a little when he asked the question, but it felt like something that was waiting to be brought up. no matter what, everyone at camp had thought about it - dreamt up scenarios in which they either got to punch their godly parent in the jaw, or embrace them closer than they could ever imagine. he didn't see auggie as the type that would look for a blissful union with her father.

it did turn out that he was right in his assumption as her answer came, though the mention of zeus' 'hype' made him pull a bit of a face. most of the general consensus he had heard about his father had not leaned on the side of respect, but rather distaste for his methods. tyranny, borderline dictatorship, a sense of entitlement that spread to laying waste on anyone who dared go against his ruling. it wasn't something that he was particularly proud to have descended from, and there was nothing to counter it in his mind. he had no argument, no personal experience with the god. "i think they respect him. i respect hades," he said, stalling for an answer. he should have anticipated it being bounced back at him. "i used to.like i said, i used to hope for him to swoop down and fix everything. i don't even know if he knows i exist, with all of his... conquests." a widening of the eyes to display his distaste. "and even if he did, i don't think he'd bother. i've never saved the world. i've not proved myself as his child, so maybe he's just pretending i'm not. he claimed me and moved on." there was another story under those words, one that he wasn't directly saying - the belief that his father wasn't bothering because he was under the assumption that there was no need to, that orin wasn't worth the time given his promised lack of it. "and if i did meet him, i'd just get mad. there are so many things that he hasn't fixed that i know he can, and if i have a chance to find out why, then..." he'd take it. and it'd probably rip him to shreds. "he's just made being normal very difficult."

Auggie made a face when he started going on about steroids, raising her eyebrows, but he seemed to realize what he was saying and quickly took it back. “You’re really not making this sound better.” She rolled her eyes at the proposal of a Lance Armstrong cocktail, not even wanting to imagine what he’d come up with for that.

She snorted a laugh at the mention of Mr. D’s indignity at people thinking he could be Orin’s father. “Maybe if you make him a Rasputini he’ll think better of you,” she teased, barely able to contain the laughter in her voice as she said it. “Guess we’ll find out,” she said in response to the conceptual rave, still talking as though it was something they were really going to do.

She cracked a smile at the image of the god of the underworld passing out from standing up too fast, but it quickly faded as the conversation turned in a different direction. “I don’t,” she muttered quietly about respect, saying the words quickly as if she just had to get them in, had to throw them out into the world just to clarify how she felt, in case Hades was somehow listening and could therefore know exactly how she felt about him. She looked back at Orin, waiting for the answer he seemed reluctant to give.

Out of all the possible godly parents, it felt like they had it worst, being kids of the Big Three. Zeus was the most powerful, but he didn’t exactly have the best reputation, she could understand how that would be conflicting, irritating even. Hoping for your parent to swoop down and fix everything didn’t seem like such an absurd idea—not when your parent was literally a god, but that never seemed to be how it worked out. She smiled slightly at the word ‘conquests’, at the evident displeasure, though it quickly melted into a frown as he continued.

“I don’t think that’s fair…” she said, looking down at her shoes. “I mean, that we’re expected to be able to save the world or do some big...hero-y thing...None of us asked to be born. None of us asked to have stupid powers or anything.” There was a hint of bitterness in her voice, partially directed at the gods for the inadvertent pressure placed on their children, partially at herself for not living up to it. She could act like the tough, mean delinquent all she wanted, but that didn’t change the fact that—as much as she despised her father—she’d never felt worthy of her heritage. It almost seemed strange, the fact that Orin thought he wasn’t worth his father’s attention when he was doing things like running into collapsing buildings, jumping out of windows and nearly getting killed just to save people, but she still wasn’t that surprised. Everyone at camp had more to live up to than anyone could possibly expect from a bunch of teenagers full of childhood trauma and parental issues.

Auggie nodded as he continued, understanding the feelings of resentment and confusion. “Being normal,” she huffed. “I don’t think that’s ever been an option for any of us.” She looked over at him, offering a half-hearted smile as she bumped his shoulder with hers. “At least we can be massive disappointments together.” She paused, looking up at the trees as she thought. “And if we ever meet those jerks...we can crack some godly skulls.”

The stallion's eyes darted to something behind Ash and he turned to take a look. "Oh hey, I was going to find you in a bit Belle, that'd be great! We've got Baby, I'm sure he'll keep us from trouble. Other than a side quest of finding a costume shop." He said to the girl with a playful wink. He stroked the black stallion mindlessly as Mirabelle started speaking of giving him the front seat. "No,no,no. You take the front seat, the Dramamine will work just fine. If it wears off fast I'll sprinkle some of my sand on myself." He said with a smirk, tapping his pouch.

He opened his mouth about to reassure her further but a new voice entered the conversation. What's up with these people and interrupting important conversations? He turned to the new person, he looked familiar. What was his name again? Adam? No. Aaron? Definitely not. Alex? Absolutely no. He'll just have to wait for Mirabelle to say it." No problem man, go ahead." he said giving the boy who gave off an aura of knowledge a small smile. He continued petting the winged horse since he had no clue how to do anything else. Should he bother someone who wasn't so popular to help him? Other than Mirabelle, he only really knew Teilo and Dahlia.

He followed Celeste suit out the door with a small thank you. It was definitely starting to get bitter out, to the point where even he could feel little splinters of cold bite at his skin. He was about to take the lead but realized he didn't have the slightest clue where he was going. "I have a weapon idea but it can't be done at the armory." he said turning to the girls, feeling the need to explain himself. He picked up some snow, making it into a ball and tossed it back and forth. "On another note, I will have to iris message my grandma later...." he didn't really know where he was going with this announcement or why he even said it in the first place but it was pressing to him, he felt it was something he needed to do fast and he didn't understand why he was feeling that way. He turned back to look at all the snow and threw his snowball at the nearest tree and watched as it crumbled to the ground back with the rest of the sparkling white cushioning.

Aggy smiled at the blonde, but it came off a little predatory as she watched Mira's movements with a lazer focus. She had no intentions of being taught twice. Hold up bridle, then just kinda poke Spicy with the bit... noted.

Aggy's eyes lit up at the compliment on her handiwork, and she practically glowed. "Thanks!" She offered, her voiced softened by the praise, but Mira was already flitting out the door. She rolled her eyes at the quickly retreating figure. So much for that. and turned to the mare, who was looking at her expectantly. The big eyes seemed to be asking for something, but Aggy could only wonder what. She scowled, clutching onto the reins as she'd seen Mira lead a pegasi by a rope earlier. "What d'you want?" She hissed, but the equine wasn't kind enough to provide her with an answer. Wonderful, the thousand pound monstrosities don't come with instruction manuels. She huffed, turning away from the judgemental creature and toward the door, an idea perculating in her mind
Mira did say we'd learn to ride...

Just like that, she'd made a decision. She took a step forward, grinning proudly when Spicy meekly followed, and swung the door open once more, happily leading her mount into the snow. Mirabelle said she'd be giving us crash course lessons, so I can't imagine it's too difficult...besides, no one can call me a coward if I'm the first up! She reasoned with herself, determination in her steps as she mused about the admiration such a move might win her. She peered at the white landscape. How does one... get on? She wondered, searching for a solution the snow. The mare nuzzled into her arm, effectively leaving a spot of hay mixed saliva. "Ewww, no! Bad horse!" Aggy squeaked, wrinkling her nose. She wiped the sleeve across her mount's neck, the red pegasi blinking at her with an air of innocence. Gah, why must it be so gross? She wondered. For that reason, and that reason only, she held off on trying to put herself in the saddle. For now. At least until someone else could come, and keep the rest of her safe from the slobber end while she was mounting.

Reese squirmed in his seat as he tugged the carton open. As ironic as it was for a child of death himself, he really didn't like horror. But it would be rude to say so, especially with Emmie looking so excited over it... He mused, finally managing to pop the lid off, he plunged his spoon into the mint chip, then brought it to his face, closing his eyes to savor the delicacy. Sharp mint burst on his tongue, along with the crunch of frozen chocolate. Mmmmph, just as good as I remembered. He mused, before opening his eyes and realizing that he still had matters to attend to.

He held the carton out to Emmie, but made no moves to fully relinquish it. "I have not seen enough TV to be partial to a genre." He said, dipping his spoon in for another go while Law and Order blared in the background. "So how about hit me with your best shot? Go for something that will knock my socks off," He said, wriggling his eyebrows for effect before returning his spoon to his mouth. Inwardly, he was actually quite excited at the notion, especially if her distraction would allow him to nab more icecream.

Mirabelle smiled, nodding in acknowledgement. "Sure thing. Just give me a minute." She slung her backpack off of her shoulders and placed in gently on the ground. She had barely even noticed that she was still wearing the bag, if she was being honest. Bending down, she fished around for the Dramamine. Her hand returned from its depths triumphant, clasping the small package. One of the benefits of having a well-organised backpack was that she could find anything within a matter of seconds. "Here you are." She ripped off a few tabs from the sheet and passed them to Ash before slipping the rest of the medication into her bag once more. "It's best if you take your first dose thirty to sixty minutes before travelling." Goodness, I sound like an infomercial. "Just - let me know if you need anything else."
When Ash insisted she have the front seat, Mirabelle wasn't about to lie down and roll over. She opened her mouth to protest, but Aiden's arrival cut her off. "I - thank you," she managed instead before turning to the son of Athena. With a dainty hand, she casually waved off his apology. "It's alright." Her soft statement was quickly followed by a friendly smile. A small attempt at assurance. She couldn't hide the discomfort in her gaze, however. How much did he overhear? Too many people already knew about her mal des transports. While it wasn't exactly a damaging secret, it certainly undermined the perfect image she tried to put forth. After the small incident on the train a few years back... yeah. She was not keen on having any more fun nicknames thrown her way. "Did you need something?" A phrase that might sound annoyed on the lips of someone else, but her tone was gentle and kind. It was clear that she genuinely wanted to know if there was anything she could do for Aiden.

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 3|Tags: Sa'd, Zahra --> Hu, Caspia|

Juliet nodded slowly while she listened to Sa'd and Set speak. She crossed her arms tighter over her chest as she regarded this newcomer - another adult, she noticed. And a rather alluring one at that. Sporting a tight burgundy t-shirt and a pair of black jeans, with a really awesome black leather jacket around her shoulders. Fingers covered in golden rings, a lion's head pendant dangling around their neck. Her golden eyes framed with black eyeliner. And were those combat boots? Man, Juliet wished she looked that cool. She felt dull by comparison, with her beat-up jeans and holey purple sweater. Her aviator jacket was pretty sweet, she reckoned. That ought to earn her some 'cool' points at least.
"Trading instead of taking... yeah, I can swing that." Juliet shifted on her feet. "Colourful rocks you say..." A sinister look crossed her face. A plan was starting to formulate in her brain of how to trick the gryphon, though she'd have to run it by Hu first. Oh, and Caspia, if she was the pranking type. "Yeah, sure. I'll tell ya how it goes." She waved offhandedly, though she would probably forget her agreement the moment Sa'd left.
"Anyways, good to meetcha, sad dude. And chaos guy or whatever. See you around. Or maybe not." She shrugged, her typical air of nonchalance doing its work. "And you too, I guess." The latter was directed at the adult and the weird girl following her around, though Juliet hadn't caught either's name. All in all not a big deal. She probably would've just forgotten their names anyways.

"Like, thanks, man!" Chuck bleated, breaking into a grin. "You have like, no idea how relieving it is to hear that, you know?" He watched as Yuno jotted something down, absently chewing on his sleeve. Always organised, that one. They reminded him of Mira in that sense - though Mira tended to have a mental checklist rather than a physical one. He absently wondered if Mira's mental checklist was colour-coded and had little sticky notes all over it.
"Uh, so like, where do we even start?" Chuck shuffled his hooves in the snow. "We can totally like, get the other satyrs to help and stuff, most of them are like, trying to anyways, I think." He'd seen a few fellow satyrs out in the woods, mostly consoling dryads and attempting to offer help, though they had seemed a bit confused as to how exactly to do so.

||Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Outside Cabin 3 --> Behind Cabins|Tags: Jay, Sa'd/Set|

Zahra was a bit miffed at being called a 'girl' by the chaos god - she was two hundred and seventeen years old, for crying out loud. That, and they weren't fully a woman to begin with. Sure, she had been using 'she/her' pronouns more in her head that day, but that tended to fluctuate depending on how they felt. Nonetheless, the Eye of Sekhmet led the Host of Set and their accompanying god behind a row of buildings, which Chiron had called 'cabins' earlier. Zahra thought that was rather funny - the only building that looked cabin-like in any regard to her was the one the aforementioned gryphon was seated outside. They checked back to make sure that Jay was following; she and Anubis should hear this information as well.
When they were far enough out of earshot of any demigods, Zahra stopped walking and turned to face the three. "Jay and Anubis, I believe, have already made my acquaintance, but allow me to introduce myself. I am Zahra Abubakar Nashwa Al-Amin, Magician of the Ninth Nome and current Eye of Sekhmet. I wish there were time for more formalities, but I must 'get to the point', as they say." Her tone was clear and sharp, but not unkind. Their mixed Arabic-London accent had thickened in her haste, and they hoped the three could comprehend what she was saying. "Set, Anubis - we need your help. The Duat is in chaos - almost literally, I'm afraid. You two recall the Ogdoad, though I am uncertain if your Hosts have recollection. Hosts, do either of you know of the Ogdoad? I can explain briefly if I must."
-
At Jay's admission, Zahra's face grew almost disappointed. "I see. They must not be teaching the Ogdoad cosmology in your Nome. Shame on them." She hadn't necessarily meant it in a mean nor chastising way, but it certainly came out that way. "The Ogdoad are eight gods; the first gods. They were born of the Sea of Chaos and are thought to be extensions of Isfet itself." She paused to let that sink in. "The eight are as follows. Nun and Naunet; the gods of chaos and water, Heh and Hauhet; gods of boundlessness, Kuk and Kauket; gods of darkness, and Amun and Amaunet; gods of invisibility, of air, and void. They are frog and snake gods respectively. " She watched the two teenagers' faces as she continued. "Something has greatly angered them, and caused them to awaken from their slumber. They are wreaking havoc in the Duat; tearing it completely asunder. The Sea of Chaos - it is expanding. You can see why I have been sent. We need your help. The gods need your help."

||Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Mount Marcy Training Hall|Tags: Nicholas, Malcolm|

Once Vivienne had finished donning her armour, she quickly realised she was missing something. Frostbite. Her battleaxe, given to her by her mother when she'd turned her back on Camp Half-Blood. She hadn't brought it with her the previous night, but there was no need for a close-combat weapon at that time. Though she planned on remaining mostly unseen if she could, it wouldn't hurt to bring the axe, just in case. Where did I leave it.... The training hall. The answer crystalised in her mind, clear as day. It was imbedded in a dummy wearing a shredded Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, if she recalled correctly. She also remembered that Xaliphax was currently stabled there. Surely the spectral equine wouldn't mind her presence. He had even seemed to enjoy it the last time she had visited him. Steeling herself, the bitter young woman marched out of her quarters and through the twisted passageways of her home.
As Vivienne neared the training hall, she slowed her pace. Voices. There were voices emanating from the room - a conversation, she realised. Nicholas's distinct voice rang out in the chilly air, but the other two she did not recognise. Curiosity sparked inside of her, only to be quashed under her own heavy boot. Leave it be. It is none of your business.
Wordlessly, she entered the cavern. Her movements were stiff and brisk; mind trained on the simple task at hand. Retrieve the axe. Subsequently exit. She didn't know if she had time for small talk. Besides that, she didn't care for small talk. Still, it was in her best interest to be moderately polite. Vivienne greeted the three men with a sharp nod to each as she passed by in a gust of cold wind. Her icy eyes locked on the axe, stuck deeply into the chest of a tattered training dummy. Target acquired.
She did her best to ignore the snippets of conversation as she wrapped her fingers around the handle and tugged. No such luck. Removing the weapon wasn't going to be as easy as she'd hoped. With a small grunt in effort, she pressed the dummy against the wall using her boot. A mighty heave, and the axe came loose with a dull thwack.
Vivienne stumbled backwards ungracefully. Luckily, she managed to keep her balance, avoiding further embarrassment. Retrieve the axe. Success. Now all that was left was the subsequent exit. She hefted the weapon in her hands, propping it against her shoulder. A curt nod was given to the three men as she made a beeline for the way out, hoping to escape without need for conversation.

x──────i ii zeus. iii eighteen. iiii tags: auggie. ivi zeus' fist.

"look, it sounded better in my head. i never claimed to be a public speaker. i'm the man who invented the drink. that doesn't mean i'm the one who's supposed to sell it. i think other people could do that a little better - once they've tried it, at least. they'll be ranting and raving. no ad campaign necessary. just word of mouth, like the olden days," he said, saving himself from the backtrack a sufficient amount. it wasn't a good idea, in his head, to be caught out as getting something so wrong. he had saved it. orin was certain he had saved it. he hoped he had saved it.

he tapped his nose, pointed at her when she suggested that dionysus would look more favourably upon him if he gave him a sample of the drink. "genius. i knew i kept you around for some reason. he'd love it. he'd love me, by accessory, and then he'd allow me to do anything. it's the perfect plan."

it wasn't a shock when auggie said that she didn't respect her father, but it did come as some surprise. there was a sense of reverence throughout the camp for the big three especially. finding someone who didn't respect them, even in a begrudging facility, was rare. but he understood it. it was something to be earned, and clearly hades had not earned it in her eyes. it was easier to dislike them than wonder why they didn't appear to care about their children.

"and yet we end up here, and we just have to do it anyway," orin nodded. they had all drawn the short straw when it came to life. "i used to wonder who my dad was, when i was a kid. my ma never talked about him. it's obvious why, now. but sometimes i wish i still didn't know. it's easier to paint a better picture of him. compared to me, i mean. i can act as though all of this..." he waved in his own direction. "came from somewhere. but it didn't. not that i know of, anyway. i wouldn't have to compare myself anymore. but - at the same time, i wouldn't be able to spark fuses when i get annoyed, and that's quite a power move." it was strange to tell the truth. the beginning of the conversation had opened the door to it - there was no point hiding any thoughts now. he figured that if she was going to run, then she would have by now.

"we have to invent a normal. imagine that," he shook his head bitterly, but perked up a little at the shoulder bump. "you make it sound so inviting." a content sigh, glancing up at the clouds. "i don't think there's anyone i'd rather be more of a disappointment with. though i don't know if you'd say the same about me. you don't have to." orin's eyes shut for a moment. the rest of the camp had fallen away for a while. that was nice. "i plan on it. if either of us meets the other's dad, we have to do it for them, right? like, if you for whatever reason come into contact with zeus, you give him a pummeling. i'll do the same. make it a pact."
