"My name's Viktor. Viktor Crow. Uhm- have you ever read Edgar Allen Poe? It- It's something like that." Ven flapped their wings, and started to groom their feathers.

Viktor gave a small smirk. "Yeah. Let's go." He headed toward the cabin, while the bird flew in.

    ──── Aiden Seaver
】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | ➡ The Stables | Tags: Skylar, Mirabelle, Ash, Stable Gang
𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜
Listening to Skylar go on about her own little pranks and problem causings got more than a few chuckles out of Aiden. How had the two of them never chatted like this before? We have so much in common. Skylar had some of the best humor out of the head counselors, yet he never knew. Then again, Skylar was pretty reserved at the counselor meetings; he only ever saw her with her other half-siblings outside of that. "Man, you're so lucky to get to screw with people's heads like that." He groaned with an exaggerated eye roll. "Using the Mist is cheap but only because it's so real. So convincing. If I want to convince someone that Chiron and Peter Tork were actually the same people and he had to make a tragic choice between his passion for music and his responsibility to train demigods, I have to work for it and make it sound realistic." a pause. "He's not, by the way. I checked." His voice dropped to a whisper. "But you didn't hear that from me." Aiden punctuated it by clearing his throat. "Anyway, I've still got a couple of things to do before everyone gets together. See you later." He gave her a friendly fist to the shoulder before his departure, invading the conversing group on the other side of the stable. "Ay, Mirabelle." Aiden chirped, pausing at the entrance. "Oh," he bit his tongue. "Am I… sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you guys." He said sheepishly, feeling the wet breaths of Wayfinder on his shoulder. She and Ash were having a conversation—clearly a private one. "Sorry." He said again.

    ──── Nicholas Storm
    】| Horseman of the Apocalypse | 56 | Male | ➡ New York hotel | Tags: Malcolm
𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚑𝚘 𝚜𝚊𝚝 𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚗𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝙳𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚑
"A palace, actually." Death corrected, leaning against the wall with his arms folded. "But it's been a while, I'll admit." The amulet around his neck glittered, starkly contrasting the rest of his monotonous outfit. He tilted his head curiously, studying the man as he spoke. Nicholas was slowly growing more and more conscious about his divine aura, when it was active and when it wasn't. Currently, he had it on the down-low. The last thing the poor souls here in the hotel needed was a growing sense of dread added to their plate. He could say the same for his ghost parade; they were present as always, but not as a visible distraction. "You can dress however you like," Death informed him. "My queen of diamonds will judge you by character, not clothing. I doubt she'd care." He gestured to his own smart casual outfit. The horseman sensed a stirring; Eris was with them, lurking, from what he could gather.

At the mention of Hicks, he glanced around. He didn't spot the man, but his senses told him another story. "A hop skip and a jump." Death nodded in Hicks' general direction, what Malcolm could assume as a frighteningly good guess. "I can bring him along if you'd prefer. He's loyal; I'll trust your word on that. This is a fine opportunity to try its weight and see if he flounders, but I've got a feeling he'll do well enough." If not, Nicholas would burn that bridge when he came to it. That was the colloquialism, right? "Whether he comes or stays, I'll be your ferryman. No sense in burning daylight; leave that to the souls and Tartarus." His hands found their way into his pockets as he idled, briefly musing about the coming summit. Khione, of course, would be their host. The vessel, if he shows, would be the guest of honor. Himself, Xaliphax, Malcolm, and Eris would be in attendance, as well as the fiend behind the growing mass killings he'd sensed across the horizon. He made a note to ask Kingston about it, but first: "Also, about the cheese bags…"

[] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|Woods|tags:Orin

Auggie didn’t want to admit how scared she was by what Orin had told her. Not to him or to herself or to anyone. But she was, and she wasn’t sure how to deal with that. Nobody had ever trusted her with something like this. Truthfully, most people just didn’t trust her. She tried for that anyways, never got close enough to open up to anyone or to have them open up to her. Except for her uncle, but he’d been an adult and she’d been a child and of course he’d kept things from her. He’d lied and deceived and omitted things all under the pretence of keeping her safe—a lot of good that had done.

But this was different. This wasn’t something she necessarily needed to be told, not her specifically at least. Yet here they were.

When he stiffened at the hug she immediately felt a pang of regret, thinking that she’d done something wrong. But then he hugged her back and the panic lessened, not dissipating entirely. She shook her head. “You have nothing to be sorry for.” She could tell he was trying to lighten the mood with the story about his uncle, but couldn’t bring herself to smile. It didn’t matter anyways, he couldn’t see her face.

“I…” she trailed off, unsure how to respond to the thanks. She wanted to say that she’d always be willing to listen, that she could be there for him and that he could trust her, but the words wouldn’t come out. She couldn’t admit to something like that. So she didn’t say anything, hoping her presence said enough.

Finally, she pulled back just enough to look at him, eyes narrowed slightly in confusion. “Why did you tell me? I mean...why me?” She was used to things being kept from her. She was used to being avoided or just seen as someone who wanted to pick a fight, not as the kind of person you could confide your life story in. Sure, they’d had their moments with everything that had happened in the past couple days, but she still couldn’t quite understand the idea.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

she couldn't see it, not with his face buried in her shoulder the way it was, but when she said that he had nothing to be sorry for, orin's face screwed up. he did. she didn't understand yet, but he thought that he did. and he couldn't explain it - but everyone who knew had gone through stress that he had seen, that he had understood as being his fault for not being wired up quite right, and now he had put it on her. and one day, probably soon, with the way that things were going - a dire thought - he was going to kick it. his death wouldn't happen to him, not really. he'd feel it and then he'd be gone, but auggie was going to have to live. and she was going to have to sit and think about it. and it would tear her apart. so he was sorry. none of those words came out. they didn't fit in his mouth quite right, and they were scary to think about.

she pulled away and he instantly used his sleeve to wipe any stray tears that had fallen. did that make three times that he had cried in front of her? gods, he wasn't on form. her question made him almost laugh. it was so quintessentially her. looking, but not seeing. "because when you threw me my lighter, with your face on, i realised that i was more scared of you hating me than i was of telling you," he answered. "and that makes me selfish, i think. in a weird way. but it is what it is." a brief, somewhat forced smile. "felix used to tell me that i had to tell someone. chiron doesn't know. mr. d doesn't know. maybe my dad doesn't even know. that'd be funny. because i just couldn't. and i'd hold it over his head, tell him that if he told anyone, it would stress me out. i'd... i'd threaten him, basically." that sounded very bad. somehow, he didn't mind saying it. he didn't think that she'd discount him for it. "i don't like people seeing me. not properly. but it's different with you. i think all you've bloody done recently is see me. and that's - that's terrifying, and a bit of me wants to run and hide and never talk to you again because i'm terrified that when i jabber on that you're actually listening instead of nodding politely, but another bit of me really -" he silenced himself.

"it hasn't been a problem in a while," he said, backtracking a bit. "i don't know if you know leo. he's a - an ares kid. but he ragged on me a bit a couple years ago. i must've done something. i can't remember what. but it was a bit touch and go for a while. that's what lucy heard. felix talking to me, off my nut, telling me off. but she had no context. she had nothing to base it off of. just assumed it was big." his eyes shut for a moment, running over the confrontation with lucy. "and i won't lie to you, looking back on it i sound such a pillock. i sound so awful. but i had to be, because otherwise i think i would've just dropped there. and i don't wanna do that to her. i've heard it's quite scary."

"that would make even more sense. entitlement from the upper class - i can hardly believe it," a glimmer of a smile. that was him, he realised. entirely him. not the goddess wearing his skin and donning his voice. maybe that meant she trusted him. maybe she was just bored. either way, it worked out rather well. "i'm not going to meet the goddess behind all of this magic in civvies. your 'queen of diamonds' might not judge me by my clothing, but it'd be a nice way to make a good first example, wouldn't it?" he slapped his knees, standing up.

malcolm pondered the concept of bringing hicks. it would be nice to introduce the little mortal man to the truth behind all of the matters. if he went mad, then it would simply be a sign that it wasn't meant to be. that was fine by him. he had a 'soft' spot for the former soldier, it had to be said, but not one that served as enough of an attachment to make getting rid of him anything more than a disappointing but necessary evil. "excellent. i can see what he's truly made of," after mentally running over the 'ferryman' comment, his head turned, volume raising to a shout for just a moment. "daniel, coat on!"

how very domestic of him. still, there was no time to run over the details. "i was meaning to ask. i thought i might coin it. use it for a tagline when i run for prime minister. i don't think the opposition would survive being labelled as 'cheese bags'. it floored me, and that's an accomplishment," in a sense, he was testing the horseman's humour. in another, he was saving his graces a bit. "off we pop, then. no time to waste. i'd hate to keep the queen of diamonds waiting."
