| Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Armoury| tags: Celeste, Aydan |

Ophelia grinned to herself at Celeste's excitement. It wasn't the loud kind with jumping and shouting, but the quiet kind that got to work. She was watching her study the cartridges...or were they magazines? Ophelia had never found much use for learning about firearms, beyond the few times she gotten invited to a kids birthday party with the nerf versions (an overall horrifying experience, with a few bruises involved).

Her thoughts were interrupted, and she turned to Aydan. Blue steel? Oddly specific, but okay. "If they don't, I'm sure you can make some." She said gently, stepping forward to scan the collected pieces for her friend. It was a downright menagerie of anything the mind could think of, crowding eachother so that some weapons were obscured. A particular shield caughy her eye, and she approached it, running her fingers into a place where she could gingerly lift the specimen from between its neighbors. Hmmm, it's no blue steel, but... She held up the thing, which would be a round shield, but for the armour glove within it and all manor of spikes that extended from it. She tilted it, letting the light cascade over it from a few angles. Interesting, she mused, noting that it seemed to be in reasonable repair.

She stuffed a hand into the glove, wincing a little as it pinched at her hand, and tested the weight on her arm. Not quite balanced, but it should be an easy enough fix... I'd need some help with the additions though...

| Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Stables| tags: Mira, Dahlia, Jamie, Aiden, Skylar

Hmmm, odd name that, Aggy mused, inching her hand slowly up the equine's face as she got braver. The creature leaned into it somewhat, but Aggy found that she didn't mind, even if she couldn't quite predict Spicy's movements. She had big brown eyes framed by thick lashes, and strangely enough, hollows above her eyes. The dips made her skull stick out more, and Aggy absently wondered if she should be concerned about that. No one else seemed to be. She's kind of like a weapon, but I can't hear her thoughts, Aggy mused, letting out a breath and relaxing, her hand never leaving the roan mare.

"No," She admitted to Jamie, her eyes not leaving Spicy. She had never ridden before, but if this was some kind of test, she was going to pass it. She carefully leaned in, sliding her hand down to Spicy's soft neck. She still didn't trust the large head, but her fingers itched to touch more of the soft creature. The mare leaned her head into Aggy for a sniff, and Aggy let her, trying not to stiffen in response. Her attempt was mildly successful, and the nose soon moved on from her.

Mirabelle had pulled out a pegasi, and Aggy turned to watch, keeping a steady hand on her own friend, though she moved it back to Spicy's muzzle. She listened to the blonde's orders, a little sad to release the mare that something in her mind had decided was "hers". It made no sense, but she already felt quite attached to the mare. She let her hand slide away, and took a few steps toward Mira and the pegasi, maintaining a good distance from the creature.

She watched how Mira worked with the equine, talking to it with a soft voice, and offering reassuring pats. It was clear that this was her element, as much as it was not Aggy's.

| Reese Dawson | 17 | Hades/Cabin 13 | Location: Dining pavilion/kitchens---> | tags: Emmie,

He considered Emmie's question a moment. He could not say that either cabin had much advantage over thr other, but he did know he would be answering to Auggie the next time she found him. Yep, that will be no fun for ice cream. "Yours is better. It's no fun eating in the old mortuary." He said with a smile, happy to haul their earnings off to the brighter of the two cabins. They were both overly lavish to be feasting on ice cream straight from the carton in, but whoever designed them clearly did not have teenagers in mind.

| Henry "Hank" Walker | 17 | He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: --> Cabin 7 | tags: Mattie (Apollo NPC), open!

Hank shifted the weight of the small girl as to open the door of cabin 7. He sat Mattie down on a recently vacated cot, then made his way to the supply shelf for a bottle of water. He pulled out one for himself too, then made his way over to his own space for a few pens and a pad of paper, the loose leaves he used to send long updates home.

Satisfied, he took his supplies back to the dishelved girl. Mattie looked up from her hands at his approached, confusion clearly written across her face. He sat down next to her, tearing off a few sheets for himself and handing the rest to her with the water bottle. He settled his papers across a knee, instantly regretting not getting himself something hard to write on.

He cleared his throat, awkwardly trying to use his leg as a table. Mattie had taken the water gratefully, but she was eyeing him oddly. Did I forget something? He wondered, before realizing that he had yet to explain. "So, uh, the plan is to write letters to them. I know they won't be gettin' em," oh no, wrong thing to say, shoot! He squirmed helplessly as the tears welled back up in her eyes. "But you just tell them what you wanted to say, or you can ramble some," He finished, trying to keep the wincing internal. These are for the living more than the dead.

"i don't think i could forget this place anytime soon," leo said smoothly. "maybe i'll write books about all of you. pass them off as fiction. that'd be funny, wouldn't it?"

the steady stare that met his own was almost enough to confirm that some jackpot had been hit. he wasn't sure what the essence of that was, what it meant - the repercussions that it would fuel, but he knew that there was something. he didn't prod, didn't feel the need to. just let it tumble in the air, his cards held, understood. "well. i haven't started writing yet. you might be my first plot. i might have to lurk around, figure out your character."

once freed from the handshake, leo flexed his fingers, not quite a fan of the pleasantries. when he posed his question, he did it with a little, curious smile that did not quite reach his eyes, looking up at caleb with the challenge of being truly 'seen' palpable in the air. "it's just interesting, isn't it?" he said dully. "so you do? actually believe it? good on you." though it didn't sound entirely genuine, it wasn't false either. it was just something to add to the little rolodex of knowledge in his head.

"is it sad?" he asked. "i just think that people like you fit into two categories. the ones that believe their..." delusions. "words, and the ones that are saying them so that they can begin to believe them. i just wanted to know which one you were. have i touched a nerve? sorry. i tend to do that." he pulled a face, stretched his neck to either side. craning his chin up to look at caleb was not the ideal way to stave off neck pain, it turned out. "i'm just doing... what's it called? a character study." he paused. "before you could get yours in, i mean."

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Stables|Tags: Dahlia, Aggy, Jamie, Aiden, Skylar|

Mirabelle disappeared into Firefly's stall only to reappear moments later with the mare's tack. "Now I'm not sure if you all have the same tack; Firefly uses a bitless bridle," she began to explain. "First things first, you're going to want to remove the cross-under straps, like so..."
As Mirabelle explained how to properly tack up an equine, it became readily apparent that she was truly in her element. Her effortless, graceful movements lacked even a fragment of stiffness or rigidity, and her hands didn't tremble whatsoever. Even Firefly seemed to sense her calm energy and relaxed slightly, though the pegasus kept a wary eye on the other demigods.
"Now, when you put the saddle on, you have to be extra careful around the wings. These saddles are specifically designed for pegasi, allowing them to fly without chafing. Even so, their wings are fairly sensitive - be careful not to clip the feathers."
Spending time with Firefly provided a sense of stability and comfort, even in front of other people. She could feel the stress and worry just melting off of her shoulders. The familiar, methodical task of tacking was exactly what she needed to take her mind off of her many concerns.
When everything was in order, Mirabelle stepped back to check her work. Firefly stood almost proudly in her tack, despite her initial trepidation when getting it put on. The dapple grey still watched the other demigods from the corner of her big brown eyes, huffing slightly as if flustered by being looked at. She pawed at the earth and flicked her tail.
"And that's how you tack up a pegasus." For the first time that day, true calm had settled in Mirabelle's gaze. Her had eyes returned to their usual grey-blue colour; having been much more grey than blue for most of the morning. "Now, why don't you give it a try? I'll be here to make adjustments and answer any questions you might have."

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 3|Tags: Hu, Caspia, Sa'd|

"Uraeus? Now that's more of a Greek-sounding name." Juliet snorted, shifting on her feet. Her eyes lit up at the mention of Egyptian gryphon feathers, however. "Oh, totally! If you wanna give some to us, I'm sure we can get them to the Apollo kids to make into arrows, no problem." Well, that and take a bunch for themselves, of course. And perhaps sell them to the Apollo kids instead of just giving them. Or trade them, for that matter - if anyone had anything interesting to offer.

||Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Outside Dining Pavilion|Tags: Yuno|

"Like, thanks, man!" Chuck bleated, breaking into a grin. "You have like, no idea how relieving it is to hear that, you know?" He watched as Yuno jotted something down, absently chewing on his sleeve. Always organised, that one. They reminded him of Mira in that sense - though Mira tended to have a mental checklist rather than a physical one. He absently wondered if Mira's mental checklist was colour-coded and had little sticky notes all over it.
"Uh, so like, where do we even start?" Chuck shuffled his hooves in the snow. "We can totally like, get the other satyrs to help and stuff, most of them are like, trying to anyways, I think." He'd seen a few fellow satyrs out in the woods, mostly consoling dryads and attempting to offer help, though they had seemed a bit confused as to how exactly to do so.

||Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Dining Pavilion --> Outside Cabin 3|Tags: Jay, Sa'd, Set, Juliet, Hu, Caspia|

Jay was pointing back the way they had come, Zahra realised. She released a little huff in frustration, but turned back nonetheless. Shielding her eyes against the glare of the snow, she could make out a few figures standing at the entrance of a low building that seemed to be constructed of limestone or something similar. She spotted Set's trademark fedora. How odd that he is outside of the Host, she mentally remarked. Still, she had no right to judge the relations between god and host, no matter how strange it may seem to her.
Zahra started to walk in their direction, briefly checking back over her shoulder to see if Jay was following her. As she approached, she could easily see that the person Jay had pointed out as the Host of Set was engaged in conversation. Set seemed rather involved as well. The person they were talking to was a short girl with an impish smirk, no doubt one of Chiron's demigods. The girl was perched in the doorway of the limestone building, casually leaning up against the door. Her hazel eyes glittered with mischief, blonde ponytail bobbing as she spoke. The girl reminded Zahra a bit of her younger self if she was being honest.
The last thing Zahra wanted to do was rudely interrupt whatever they were talking about - something concerning feathers, she thought she heard? - but the matter really was pressing.
"I am sorry to interrupt, but may I speak with Set and his Host for a moment? I assure you, it is of the utmost urgency." Now that Zahra was close enough, she could see a few other girls inside the building. She offered them a nod in acknowledgement, but quickly turned back to Set and his host. The blonde girl in the doorway shrugged, seeming rather unperturbed by the whole situation. That seemed like an 'okay' to Zahra.
"Set, if you and your Host would follow me, that would be ideal." No need to cause the demigods any added panic. It seemed their problems were worrying enough without the knowledge that the eight post powerful gods in Egyptian theology had awoken to attack the rest of the pantheon.

||Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Mount Marcy Caverns|Tags: Nicholas|

Amidst the whirlwind of memory, Vivienne had completely missed Nicholas's toast. She silently reprimanded herself for allowing herself to become so distracted. "I apologise for... that." The words felt awkward on her tongue, like she was speaking a different language altogether. "I am certain it was scintillating." Her voice was flat and emotionless, betraying no hint of humour. And yet her speech could have easily been taken as sarcasm to those who did not know her well. This time, she was sure to devote her full attention to Nicholas's words.
Creedence Clearwater Revival. A band, she recalled - one of her foster-fathers had been quite invested in Creedence. The music wasn't exactly to her tastes, as she remembered, but it was of no matter. She would put up with it for the sake of decimating Camp Half-Blood.
Vivienne's brain absorbed the remainder of the information like a sponge; quickly committing the pertinent facts to memory. Twenty-five hours, or until destroyed. That sounded all fine and dandy to her. She didn't necessarily think she'd be needing them for that long, anyhow - her mother's venti would quickly overwhelm the camp once the Golden Fleece was removed. Vivienne had no doubt that getting past the dragon guarding it would be a problem, however. She could always try to charmspeak the beast, but monsters that powerful had a tendency to resist stronger than your average ventus.
Nicholas's next utterances especially piqued her interest. Her eyes narrowed, sharpening her focus as he spoke. The Campfire. Of course. It made perfect sense, really. In her time at Camp Half-Blood, she had learned that the colour of the flames reflected the general mood of the campers. The fire was a symbol of unity and hope. To destroy it... well, hopefully, it would destroy their spirits. But one question remained. "What is to stop them from constructing a new campfire?" She wasn't certain it would have the same connection or fluctuate with the demigods' emotions, but still - it was a valid question. "What if they can simply create a new flame with the same function and abilities?" It would be utterly pointless to demolish something if the campers could simply build it back up again in a matter of minutes or hours. Now, the Big House, that was an accomplishment. Even with the children of Hephaestus working to rebuild the structure, it would take a long time to restore it to its original glory. And she had heard reports that the collapse had killed a decent number of demigods...
Despite herself, the thought made her feel mildly ill. Statistically speaking, some of those who had perished had most likely been present for the incident involving Audra. But statistically speaking, some of those who had perished had most likely been newer to the camp. Innocent. The thought quickly soured in her mind. 'No one is innocent, Vivienne.' Her mother's voice in her head again. A potent reminder of what she already knew. Everyone had skeletons in their closet.
Vivienne's expression hardened, and with it, her resolve. I shall avenge you, Audra. I must. Her hand tightened around the block of ice that was once the coffee Nicholas had brought her.

[]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|Cabins area|Tags:Leonidas

Caleb cracked a smile at the idea of their lives passing for fiction. That seemed more believable than trying to convince someone this was a reality. “Might have a bit of a legal issue there. If any of these kids have lawyer parents you’re done for.” The statement seemed a bit ironic considering everyone here had a godly parent who could easily smite any of them down for pissing off their kid, but as far as he’d seen most of the gods didn’t intervene in the lives of their half-mortal spawn.

“You know, most people don’t outright tell me that they want to follow me around all day and study my every move. That’s quite bold, I like it.” He gave a sly smile and a wink, the temptation of the comment overpowering any concern that the son of Ares could probably easily knock him out if he said the wrong thing.

Caleb narrowed his eyes slightly, still not entirely sure what to think of Leo or his probing questions and calculating stare. His face broke into a smile at the question of touching a nerve. “Oh don’t worry, I don’t have any of those. Been told I just like the sound of my own voice.” He made a face at his own words as though he hadn’t really considered the thought before.

“Right, nearly forgot I’m speaking to a budding author here.” He raised his eyebrows. “Oh you mean you’re here trying to figure me out so I don’t have a chance to psychoanalyze you back? So I don’t have a chance to ask why you’re standing around in the snow all tensed muscles and hardened stare, trying to interpret the behaviour of the first person who bumps into you, seemingly for your own amusement?” A pause, holding the others gaze in challenge. “Maybe you should scrap writing and become a therapist. How are you at deftly bringing up people’s childhood trauma so they don’t suspect what you’re doing?”

"I'm fine." Niji commented.

He tried to get up only to grimace at the pain shooting down their leg and falling back onto the bed.

"See totally fine!" Niji said. "Besides I need to see if the Harpies need anything to keep warm. Are you hungry? Are the other Dyrads and Harpies hungry?" Niji asked their eyebrows knitting together.

Niji stopped rambling when they saw Bay holding out her laurel leaf.

"A-are you sure?" Niji asked tears welling up in his eyes.

"That's a huge thing to Dyrads, obviously you know that, a-and I didn't do anything." Niji's hands shook as he struggled to keep in his tears.

Sa'd gave Juliet a small grin.
"Yeah it is with your fancy shmancy names." They laughed.

"Ahh- It's not my decision it's his." Sa'd informed them.

"I'm not saying it's a good idea obviously it's not, but I'm just saying that this certain Gryphon happens to like colorful rocks more then anything, so maybe try trading him instead of taking?" Sa'd offered.

"Love this nice girl is wanting to talk to us. She says it's important." Set said pulling Sa'd's attention away, or at least attempting.

"Can't it wait Set?" Sa'd groaned they were curious as to how this would play out.

"She's Egyptian." Came Set's reply.

"Okay." Sa'd answered obviously annoyed.
It was just what Sa'd didn't need; someone thinking they were a traitor.

"Tell me how it goes?" Sa'd asked Juliet.

Sa'd glanced at Set at the Egyptian's words. Set gave Sa'd a small nod and nudged them forward. Sa'd's only reply was to give Set a small glare.

"We'd be more then glad to follow you." Set replied.

"would you believe someone if they came out and said that harry potter was based on their life? or would you look at them like they were a bit..." leo rose his eyebrows. "i think the same applies. could work pretty well, i think."

at the overt flip that came from the comment, leo found himself smirking. there were two options - throttling him or playing the game - and he knew which one he would find a little fun. no, scratch that - he knew which one would be more likely to shake caleb's demeanour. he seemed to run on the faux narcissism, the joking flirtation. "yeah, it's just - i really think you're my type," he said, voice still monotonous. "i think i have a massive, intense crush on you, but i'm waiting to see how it plays out before i act on it." a pregnant pause. "is that bold enough for you?"

he still seemed to be painting himself as an untouchable creature. if he hadn't caught the brief look on his face, leo may have believed him. instead, it became a new idea. whatever it was that had rattled him must have been big. big enough to touch the so-called non-existent nerve, at least.

the roles reversed, the tables turned, and leo nodded slowly as caleb tried to give him a taste of his own medicine. and then he smiled again, let out a little laugh. "i'm bored. it's fun, don't you think? something to do. and you're still here. haven't run away yet. i don't think is an apology anymore. i think you're genuinely invested. unless you're trying to distract yourself. same thing, at its core." he sniffed, shook his head when the concept of becoming a therapist was presented. "i wouldn't be allowed." he said simply. "but it's not my gig anyway. i don't think i'd be any good at it. i'd give the wrong advice."

“Well I somehow popped into existence from the brain of the goddess of wisdom so if somebody told me that they’re ‘the boy who lived’ I’m not gonna question it.” He hesitated then shrugged. “Regular mortals are probably a different story, I say they’d buy it.”

Caleb’s face split into a grin at the other’s response, not having expected him to play along. Truthfully, he was glad the other hadn’t turned to aggression. Or just gotten annoyed and uncomfortable, there was nothing he hated more than people getting uncomfortable from the ridiculous things that spilled out of his mouth. “I’m a lot of people’s type, darling, you’ll have some competition.” He knew the other boy was trying to shake him; thought he’d be too surprised by the reciprocation that his cool demeanour would slip. Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t easy to shake Caleb—especially not with flirting. He tilted his head at the question of boldness, seeming to ponder it seriously for a moment before he nodded with satisfaction. “Yeah, not bad. Could work on your tone a little, but I’ve heard worse.”

He shrugged at the following explanation, unable to disagree. “Guess so,” he replied simply. He raised his eyebrows at the statement that he wouldn’t be allowed to be a therapist, curiosity spiked, though he didn’t question it. It wasn’t his place to ask. “I don’t think it’s possible to give wrong advice,” he said, thoughtfully. “You can give bad advice, sure. You can give really crap advice that ruins someone’s life, but it can’t be right or wrong. It’s objective, really.”

"how many mortals have you actually... met?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "i think you're overestimating them. a few of them would. the rest would call for people like us to be sent into an institution." leo paused. "or they'd try to use demigods for their own purposes. i think you've got a bit too much faith in their capacity for accepting things they don't understand."
perhaps a little too telling. he cut it off there.

"if they all happen to turn up missing, then there'd be no competition, would there?" he gave a saccharine smile. "though... for someone with a harem of people swarming to kiss your feet..." leo looked around pointedly, making a bit of a show of it. "well. i don't see any of them. maybe there won't be much competition at all. say, fancy getting out of here and eloping? we could make a show of it. see which one of us backs down first. you can be the wife." still dull, still vaguely amused. "i've been told that before. apparently nothing i say sounds serious. but i'm being serious now. deadly. let's do it."

"if someone came up to me and said they were being bullied, i would tell them to rock their skull," he said simply. "i think that would be wrong advice to give. not in the case of 'incorrect' versus 'correct', but more... you know, morally. i know that my methods aren't exactly smiled upon by the many." he was hyperaware of how unreasonable he could be in times of tension, somewhat surprised that he hadn't gone for a swing yet in the face of the son of athena just to wipe that sanctimonious smile off of his face. "i'd get bored, too. listening to people's problems. i only wanna know what i wanna know. the rest is wallpaper to me."

    Shaye really wished that they could go back to visit the underworld.. at least it was warm down there and they didn't have to deal with this blasted snow. Their hiking boots were successfully keeping the wet wintery hellspawn from seeping into her socks, but that was besides the point. it was the middle of summer, this stuff wasn't supposed to exist until at least November.
    They fiddled with their clothing; grumbling to themselves as their pace slowed, the tracks they left in the snow turning to skidmarks until the white ground got levelled out by their many pacing footprints. The high collar of her denim jacket helped keep the wind from kissing her skin, but they pulled their hoodie up anyways, her curly brown locks falling into her eyes when the hood flattened the mop of hair that made their head look twice as big.
    They probably looked like a watching flashback of pop-punk meets canadiana... the flannel hoodie underneath the bulky jean jacket lined with fleece. Her jeans were tattered and at one point were black, but the rips were definitely poor taste in this weather. They hadn't really planned to spend the summer dressed for cold. They wore a heavy belt that probably didn't work well in keeping their pants up, a chain bouncing off her thigh with each step. Hidden in each boot were their daggers, named respectfully Honour and Pride; which was which? they didn't know. Yeah, it was definitely a more clashing type of style they'd recently become obsessed with... they didn't really have a comeback for that.
    Whatever, it didn't matter to them anymore, they were stuck like this; at least they looked relatively stylish.
    The wandering aimlessly through the woods kind of looked like a scene from a fall out boy music video, lets be honest. They took a deep breath, scrunching up their nose when their breath temporarily appeared in front of their face like a soft cloud. pathetic, no, they hate the cold... not nice nope, not poggers that was for sure.
    whatever, they weren't emotionally attached to the situation... they could just remain in camp until like December when the blasted snow melted and it got up to ninety degrees, yaknow, just in time for Christmas.
    Shaye wished they had a monster-energy at this exact moment, mainly because they hadn't had any caffeine today and they kind of wanted to see how chaotic they truly could be... maybe if they found someone they could just... adapt to being a feral gremlin?
    that sounded like a plan, okay they were going to find someone to bother.
    They halted in their tracks once more, realizing they weren't even thinking straight(well i mean they can't but yaknow) and instead of adopting a plan to finding their next victim, they were just looping around the trees in circles. They had passed their own footprints several times at this point and honestly she believed that at some point the dryads were going to kick her out sooner rather than later... especially if they kept grabbing random branches that were low enough to reach just for the sake of doing so.
    They were closer to the lake than they were to the cabins and big house... maybe there were people there? a poor little Poseidon child that unbeknownst to them were in the wrong place at the wrong time? that sounded like an idea.
    With newfound vigour, Shaye struts off toward the lack, the snow becoming more difficult to navigate as the ground hidden underneath it morphed from grass and dirt to sand and pebbles. Even with the weather being cold enough to leave a thin film of ice all across the lake in front of her, the sand remained... well sandy.
    Was there more than one person there? Shaye squinted because apparently, they needed glasses or something like that. Not far ahead they could see a couple of silhouettes near the shore of the lake.
    Now, Shaye was definitely not familiar with all the campers, despite being a member of the camp for just over 6 years now, they just weren't that great with names, and only was familiar with the other demigods that uh... unfortunately found her pranks more than once...
    They approached with a skip in their step, bright blue eyes wide as they recognized the pair. Did Shaye remember their names? nope and they weren't surprised honestly, neither of these two had run into them when they were running their usual shenanigans. Their faces were familiar though, so they weren't new campers.
    Were they talking? yes. would it be rude to interrupt? probably. was Shaye gonna do it anyway? absolutely.
    Shaye picked up the pace to a quick skip as they neared the two campers, taking a quick leap and landing heavily, showering snow over the pair. Unfortunately, it didn't reach either's face, if anything just dotting their clothes with the white grossness.

    "what's poppin kidlets?" They piped, knowing full well at least the hebe child was older than themself. Their voice climbed to a higher octave of excitement as they waved before throwing a peace sign because what else could they do? Finger guns might've been more authentic... everyone does peace signs these days.
    They shook off their boots, and honestly probably made a couple of gross noises as they did so, before stepping over onto the cleared earth and pebbles that were right next to the water. They dragged the tow of their boot to write out a very crude 'sHaYE', then an acronym that likely no one knew and could only take a wild guess at, it was the most intelligent saying she knew, and it was a secret only her and the cool kids knew... 'lol'
    Did they want to talk more? well yes, Shaye had a million things to say at once, and could probably keep yapping for hours about literal nonsense.
    Instead, she just quirked her mouth to the side like that one Kermit meme and stared with wide eyes... yo maybe they had a spare firework in their coat jacket, that'd be fun to throw out onto the lake...
    no no no wait that's dumb... wait until night and throw it into the campfire, that might be a good idea.
    "Anywhoooo" they whistled. "do anything fun lately? or are you guys lame?" Yeah that's a good icebreaker, good yes good cool that's good. Shaye found themselves nodding before realising they were just responding outwardly to their own thoughts.
    ... nice

“I’ve met plenty of mortals. People like to believe that fascinating things are real, they’re pretty gullible.” The words felt false in his mouth. He was only joking around, but he knew what Leo said was true. He’d experienced it himself first hand. Sure, his dad had been a jerk in plenty of other ways, but there were certainly a lot of people who wouldn’t react well to the existence of demigods. “What can I say, I like to look for the best in people,” he concluded with a smile, clearly not meaning a word he said.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise. “I’ve never had somebody threaten to murder for me before, that’s new.” He paused, a frown creasing his brow as he thought. “No, scratch that, there was that girl in ninth grade...she scared me a bit. Something not right with her. Oh and the guy at the—“ He cut off his own rambling mutters, turning his attention back to the boy in front of him. He scoffed indignantly at the implication that he had overexaggerated the number of his admirers. “Well they’ve got lives outside of worshipping the ground I walk on, eh? They’ll be around.”

He pondered the following proposal, expression entirely serious. “I don’t think I’ve got any plans that would interfere. Always thought I’d be asked in a little more romantic setting than outside the Ares cabin but you’re not too hard on the eyes so I guess you’ll do,” he replied, making a show of taking in their setting and then glancing the boy up and down. “Backs down? I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m clearly madly in love with you and would never do such a thing. I say we leave immediately,” he declared, voice rife with over dramatism.

“Morals,” he shrugged. “Those are objective too. And life is much more fun without them,” he added with a mischievous grin. “Fighting back against a bully isn’t the worst advice. I’ve knocked a couple heads in my time in school, see how I turned out?” He gestured to himself, eyebrows raised dramatically. “If you only know what you want to know what are you doing probing me for? I must be pretty interesting to keep you engaged for this long. Though I supposed I should be happy about that, being your future wife and all.”

Aoife nodded in response, glad to hear that at least somebody was holding it together. Her gaze flicked to the dog when Rox pet her head, reaching out to let the creature sniff her hand before giving it a small pat. She let out a bitter huff at the mention of trying to save the big house. “Lot of good that did.” She winced internally as she realized how insensitive that had sounded. She hadn’t actually seen Laurel using her powers to hold up the collapsing Big House, but from what she’d heard it had been quite impressive. “I guess it could’ve been worse. Not much, but still.”

Then the question was turned around on her and she shrugged non-chalantly. “I’m not great obviously, bit traumatized—who isn’t?—but I’m not falling apart or anything.” She turned her attention back to the lake, staring out at the rough, glassy surface. She was shaken out of her thoughts abruptly by the arrival of someone else—announcing their presence with unapologetic flare and sending a spray of dirty slush against her legs.

“Dude, watch it!” She shot the other camper a glare before eyeing them with an expression that was curious, but not unfriendly. “Kidlets? You sound like a middle aged highschool english teacher trying to be hip.” She watched Shaye trace something out in the sand with her boot, eyes following the movement with interest. “Anything fun like almost dying? Or fun like avoiding near death? I guess that’s pretty standard around here, isn’t it?” The question was rhetorical, a little bit morbid to actually expect an answer. “I’ve never been lame in my life thank you very much. What have you been doing besides spattering muddy snow on my good jeans?” Her tone was playful, she wasn’t as irritated by the arrival as her words may have implied. It was just snow, the wet spots would dry and there was no point being upset over it.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?
