saw this while absentmindedly scrolling, thought it sounded fun to practice my writing. apologies if i mess anything up, just let me know if i did and i'll try and fix it !!

the fellowship of drakes, more often referred to as simply the fellowship, is a highly religious group of canines known for the tireless worship of their draconic deity, candu. they live in an ancient, abandoned castle deep in a rainforest-filled mountain range, far away from the poisonous touch of humans or other packs. they regard outsiders with wariness, and are feared throughout the rainforest as terrifying warriors. though candu is said to be first and foremost a peacemaker, the mighty dragon was not afraid to fight if the situation so called for it, and thus, the fellowship is no different. they are currently led by solomon, better known by sol to his packmates, who they all laud as a far more humble servant of candu then all of them combined.

Brynja woke and the ground was wet and she could feel the chill through her thick fur. It had rained while she slept, sheltered by the massive branches of Yggdrasil's child. She had sent her wish to the goddess last night and she had faith that the entity would provide her with the Kappi she'd asked.. only question now was where would they be? Would Freyja send her a female fit for the title of Valkyrie? Or perhaps a male, strong enough to kill a caribou with his own teeth. The images running through her brain sent shivers of excitement down the female's spine.

The Pyrenees stretched as she stood, joints popping into place, claws digging gently into the soft mud. She cast a glance at the ocean and mentally noted the rough waves attacking the shores. A storm and now Jormundandr was throwing a fit. Brynja chuckled lightly - the god's where having quite the day now, weren't they? The Drottning turned back toward the forest, preparing for today's hunt, hoping to fill her belly when a shadow came into sight, emerging from the trees.

Brynja's heart lurched - was this her first Kappi!? She stood stone still, ready for her loyal warrior to present themselves in all the elegance and prowess she'd been hoping for. Instead a rather scrappy looking, dark amber coated Retriever came forward, head hanging low, tail drooping. A fire lit itself in Brynja's chest and she sprinted toward the stranger, snarl on her maw. The Retriever's gaze sparked, a small rage burning in their depths. Brynja skidded to a halt, only a couple of hairs away from the younger male's face, "Who are you and what are you doing here?" she snarled, her tone indicating that she wouldn't allow much time for an answer.

"Gull," the young one answered, pulling his head up to face Brynja's challenge head on, "I was sent by Freyja to find the Drottning sheltered by the child of old." his tone was admirable for one so young - as if his word was the final truth and there was no arguing with it.

Brynja found her snarl falling from her face but her eyes narrowed as she looked Gull up and down. She paced around the younger dog, emphasizing her height by pushing her chest out as she circled. "Why," she began, her words sounding like a threat, "would Freyja send me someone so small.. so young?" she asked as she faced Gull again, face to face. The two locked eyes as the silence hung in the air for several long moments.

Gull finally opened his mouth, not daring to release the intimidating eye contact of what could potentially be his new queen, "I'm afraid that only Freyja can answer that question."

The Drottning was a little shaken by that answer. No contempt from the young one, no hostility. Simply strength and resolve - an unwillingness to falter, "You seem moldable. We shall see what the first Atok thinks of you, then." Brynja paced past the young dog and strode into the thick forest, "Come, Gull, show me how you hunt. Perhaps Atok will not claim you first."

It is currently fall. The air grows cooler, and there is a hauntingly familiar chill in the breeze. The trees are a
brilliant array of reds and oranges,a new layer of leaves coating with ground with each passing day. Birds are
migrating to warmer climates, and prey of all kinds are less frequent, growing scarce.

all was quiet in the sovereign's chamber, save for the sound of his own claws clicking against the stone.

it was peaceful. calming. the hubbub of the jungle had a certain charm to it, but solomon spent far more time attempting to block out the ceaseless noise than embracing it. perhaps it was a fault of his. the shepherd mix knew better than anyone that he had plenty of those. but, for now, he basked in the serenity of it all, tail sweeping against the ancient ground as he made his way towards the center of the room. he sent up a cloud of dust behind him, further reminding him of how long forgotten his faith was. unremarkable. mocked. he came to a halt, and slowly folded himself back into a solemn sit in front of a small, circular stone platform. its build suggested that something had once rested upon it, and solomon knew that he would never see it with his own two eyes.

this had once been a place of worship... a place of beauty. now, the banners with their faded imagery of dragons hung in tatters, and the sacred altar was all but gone. broken into many pieces hundreds of years ago, he knew, and most of them lost to the forests. there was no retrieving them. what remained was a sad excuse for an altar— mere bits and pieces of crumbling quartz and crystal and stone. it broke his heart to be so acutely aware of such a thing. solomon bowed his head, pale eyes closing and shutting out all outside distractions. his maw moved in a wordless prayer, whispers of a forgotten hope reaching up towards the ceiling of the enormous castle. he would restore this place to its former beauty... bring life to it once more. he imagined the sounds of pups eagerly bounding through the halls... the pleasant scent of juniper and mint and honey mingled altogether in a room dedicated to healing. an army of devoted worshippers, ready to both praise the great dragon and defend him, if the need were to arise. he imagined two thrones at the forefront of the sovereign's chamber... a place for him and his future advisor, where all would bow their heads as reverentially towards him as solomon did to the great dragon.

he was not a power hungry creature. rather, by nature, he was a gentle and deferent soul. he had wandered the jungle for many seasons all his lonesome, and seemed to know nothing at all despite it. he was not wise and elderly, nor was he a fierce warrior. he was scrawny, rather; while the beginning of muscle rippled beneath his pelt, suggesting a future powerfulness in his prime, he still had an adolescent look about him now. a boyish, moonstruck expression forever stuck to him, and his coat was not quite at its heaviest. his chest was not yet wide and deep; his voice still cracked in stressful circumstances. he was not a commanding presence. too much legginess and too little brain, his mother had jokingly told him once so long ago. truly, his only goal was to bring praise, and to once more build the dragon a following seemed like the greatest way of all to do it, no matter how he looked now. what he lacked in strength, he knew he could make up in reverence.

solomon gazed up, his soulful gaze resting on the dusty set of stairs where, at its peak, he knew two thrones had once sat. they were there no longer... but they could perhaps return again, if all went well. the shepherd mix puffed out his chest a little, considering his presence and power. if the great dragon accepted his request, then he knew that he was destined for this life, and was prepared to do whatever it took to embrace it. would an advisor truly appear here upon the ancient castle's doorstep, ready to follow his every command in the name of the great dragon? it almost sounded too good to be true, and yet he believed with every fiber of his being that it was possible. he stood, feeling lighter both in spirit and stride. he turned to leave the great chamber, but cast one last look over his shoulder to commit it to memory. when he spoke, his voice was a low rumble— but in it was a note of affection. too.

"one day, this chamber will be filled with souls chanting your name, great dragon... and i shall lead them. i swear it. the fellowship of the drakes will soon be yours to command... and you shall rise to glory once more."

then he headed out towards the balcony, intending to watch the sunset from his new fortress for the very first time. pink and orange light spilled across the floor, basking him in an otherworldly glow as he walked away. he had much to do to prepare.

and the broken altar whispered— so softly that solomon thought it to be the wind— and tendrils of light swirled around its crumbled fragments. if one squinted hard enough and perhaps turned their head to the side as well, they might be able to make out the slitted eye of a dragon, watching his loyal pupil walk away.

The Found Hounds must have ranks, or risk falling apart. Thankfully, most of the dogs in this kennel were raised in strict disciplines. That does not mean, however, they always agree. Nor are they always civil in their disagreements...

Marshal: (Replaces Alpha) Lead dog. They get the final call on EVERYTHING. They must have the most experience, but don't have to be the eldest. As a note, Marshals only get 2 lives TOTAL.
General: (Replaces Beta) Often two or three supporting voices for the Marshal.
Colonel: (Replaces Ironteeth) Dogs who are most experienced with frontline combat (in RPG terms, tanks/brutes) with enemies and threats.
Captain: (Replaces Ironteeth) Dogs who are most experienced with backline combat (in RPG terms, DPS/marksmen) with enemies and threats.
Lieutenant: (Replaces Tenderpaws) Young dogs not yet trained in the proper disciplines.
Medic: (Replaces Shaman) Dogs who formerly accompanied human medics or have a knack for healing.
Betty/Betties: (Replaces Pup Mothers) Pregnant and nursing dogs. Rarely a permanent rank. Their children are simply called Pups.

Food is scarce in the lands these dogs roam. They do their best, though, and are the least picky animals out there.

The Found Hounds have no home. Staying in one place is dangerous, and safe conditions can turn deadly overnight. They're nomadic, settling into new homes every week.
Hunting/Patrolling locations will simply be in terms of "North/South/East/West from base camp" generally.

The Found Hounds chase the hope of a proper home, and peace. The Marshal is gifted with The Sight. The Sight allows them to see the Hound of the Lake.
The Hound of the Lake appears as a glowing wolfdog with two heads, one who speaks with a masculine voice and one who speaks with a feminine voice, with fur bleached, and skin and eyes pink. An albino. Due to the elusive nature of the Hound of the Lake, many don't believe in them. They have very limited effect on the real world, only able to create whispers and weak visual images.
In their own world, however, they are all powerful. The Lake is where they live, only accessible through dream states and high stress states. It's unknown if it's physical, but assumed to be some mix for any visitors, as they can physically move things, but all is reset upon the next visit. The Lake is a stunning location that becomes a morbid place once one takes it in. In the distance, forever-imploding trunk structures stand. The sky has black and white clouds both. It's strangely warm despite snow patching the landscape. The sky is dulled reddish to dulled green. It's like time has stopped.

There are more than a few threats in war-torn Siberia. Just a few might be...
