He let his tail stay still so Tawnykit could pounce on it. "Great job!" he purred, fully realizing how much he wanted more kits of his own. He turned to Bramblewind. "I know you probably won't believe me, but...Sageleap and a few other StarClan cats have entrusted me enough to give me two extra lives. They said that they would check in on me to see if they believe I can earn the other six lives or if they should revoke them." He stayed neutral as he explained to Bramblewind.

“I see” I said skeptically. I watched as my little sister played with Burningleaf’s tail. Maybe he wasn’t so bad anymore, maybe it was like he said, he just wanted to start a life

He smiled at Bramblewind, feeling like he could practically read his thoughts. "I no longer mean CloudClan any harm." He whisked his tail away so Tawnykit could chase it further. "I offer shelter and protection for the cats who...no longer reside in CloudClan. All I want is to keep them safe and strong." He smiled. "Maybe even work together in harmony with CloudClan. We can have clan meetings like we used to before we turned from our old clan."

She looked at Burningleaf. "So...who are you 'protecting,' as you call it?" Burningleaf looked to the medicine cat. "Well," he said, "Silverpaw, Owlpaw, Thrushwink, to name a few. We also just got even newer recruits, Thorngaze found a group of cats at the twoleg place, and—" Willowsplash didn't finish. "Thorngaze? You guys have her?" She unconsciously stood up straight, taking her lean off of Sageleap.

Tawnykit:

I batted with my paws at the tom’s tail. I then got bored. I took no notice that the cats were talking. I grabbed a pinecone and batted it towards Burningleaf, hoping that he would want to play

He looked at Willowsplash. "Yes, she is with us. She seemed a little upset, but I didn't want to push her or anything." He noticed Tawnykit batting a pinecone towards him. He shifted his weight so he could bat it back towards them, giving the pinecone a little air, but not so much as to where Tawnykit couldn't easily get it. "Did something happen to Thorngaze? Should I check up on her? She had a slight limp, but other than that, she seemed to be fine."

She almost couldn't believe herself. There she was, sitting next to her mate...worrying about another she-cat. She felt as if she was betraying Sageleap. She had barely been dead and Willowsplash's thoughts were already occupied by her former crush. "No, nothing really happened. I was just kinda rude to her last we spoke."

I jumped up to catch the pinecone, but instead it came flying at me and hit me as I reached to grab it. I fell back down to the ground and sneezed. It wasn’t going fast enough to hurt me but I was still discombobulated from the hit. I got back up and started to run circles around Burningleaf, wanting him to try to catch me
