A very much needed rule change, thank you for adding this!
I hope this change may bring more positive behavior to the CS community in the future. I think all of us need to learn to be better to one another.

Though i do wonder, how will such work with things of the past, before this rule change? Because if I am not mistaken it seems you would be able to just take anything anybody has said and slap it into a report. Could also be very easily abused in cases of people no longer getting along.. I hope there is careful action taken by staff to ensure there is none of that because I know plenty will try and take advantage of this. Same in cases of offsite illegal sales; I know there are people who will again, take advantage of this and if there isn’t proper context given I could see a lot of potentially unjust reports that skew the reality of a situation. I hope to see both sides able to speak and explain their side of the story before staff slaps a punishment on someone.

i’d also like to know how this applies retroactively. i definitely agree that this could be abused but i trust that staff will look at things with due judgement, especially if there is very large amounts of evidence from multiple people of targeted harassment. i’m also personally wondering if irl stalking/doxxing/contacting someone’s school/work with false claims would fall into this category even if it’s not directly cs related as long as the users/groups are on cs?

To answer above, this rule will only be enforced for situations that occur post this rule change. So no need to report old stuff. Although, we may take into account past incidents if recent behavior indicates that someone has a trend/pattern of bullying/harassment and these cases are likely to be handled more strictly.

Offsite rule breaking trading / account hijacking has always been against our rules so feel free to report old instances of that.

When in doubt, report a situation. We will use our discretion from there and determine the appropriate course of action.
