indentation It had probably been a bad idea to come to the meeting, she saw that now. But that was the price of gaining information. Dora didn't know if Chiron would share anything about the quest of prophecy when the questers left, so she did what she had to. Sighing, Dora glanced around the table, noting Chiron's dismissal of anyone not going on the quest, and decided it was time to vamoose. Twirling around in her seat, Theodora, slid out of her seat and stood up. She glanced at the table once more, gave a nod and short wave goodbye before making her way to where she'd left her things. With all the talking going on she had forgotten that Marcellus had helpfully picked up the things she'd abandoned. Seeing her things were no longer where she'd left them, she let out a wordless hum in thought. Searching her memories, she snorted at the fact that she'd forgotten that she'd seen her bag with her brother as he'd left. Shaking her head, she turned and left mind racing.
indentation In just a few minutes, everything had changed. The camp had someone - multiple someones - to blame for everything. For the crappy weather, for the deaths, for the damage to the big house. Honestly, Dora wouldn't be surprised if one of the more superstitious campers blamed a stubbed toe on these someones. Huffing in agitation, the young woman came to an abrupt stop. She had been heading to the Apollo cabin, but. Dora wasn't admittedly in a good place emotionally to be the calm in Marcellus's storm. So, she went to one of the few places she felt that she could, let out her frustration - or just calm down really. The climbing wall. Don't ask her why, but after a climb or two up the wall, she always felt much better. Calmer.

indentationMarcellus raised a single eyebrow, and looked the teenage over giving her a disbelieving look. "Right, and I've suddenly been upgraded to god. I've come to make sure that my cabin will be built." He replied point-blank in a blunt tone. Mark snorted, "You really expect me to believe that you were just about to go training? Considering the fact that, I'm pretty sure that I just woke you up?" He said in an I don't believe you kind of tone. Dear gods, at least figure out a better lie. Shaking his head he laid down on his sister's bed, one leg atop the other and arms behind his head, propping it up. Heaving out a sigh, the young man looked up at the ceiling, making a face.
indentation After a moment he spoke, "Well If you're going to go training, feel free to go. I'm gonna wait here for Thulile to get back and tell me what's going on with this whole winter during summer crap." He muttered, before closing his eyes, clearly done with the conversation. Doesn't she have a dog as well? Crap, how does Thulile stand it. Snorting he shook his head, then pulling a shadow from a - mouse? Nearby, the young man began to have the small shadow dance around on his clothed chest, which felt different than on bare skin.

the video played. the same face, repeated - the one that shifted from confusion to abject horror as the minutes kept coming. the words that were twisted in just the right ways. each time he heard it, he noticed something slightly different about the way the politician used his gift of the gab to paint them as the bad guys, the villains, without outwardly saying it. the way in which, like it was an art, the man seemed to shift off any theories of him drifting into madness by mentioning them directly.

but then something else as well. 'the snow that falls today is not a meteorological discrepancy, but a result of one of these teenagers rebelling'.
he knew far too much. was there a rat in the camp? someone who was spreading the secrets of their little lives, putting them at risk? or was it all joined up? maybe he was involved in the issues occurring at mount marcy. maybe he was just harvesting the dregs that those issues left behind.

theory was put to the wind when he realised, quite quickly, that lucy was crying. orin glanced toward auggie almost automatically when she asked the question that was on his own lips. he took the phone back. checked it one more time. nothing else seemed to have come about - the attacks in toronto, in chicago, they were mentioned alongside the minister's name again. he was reaping the benefit of all of the chaos. dancing on what would be their graves.
but that didn't matter. he put it into his pocket and stepped forward. "lucy," he said, quiet. his eyes flitted around the landscape, faces that were slowly shifting their gaze in their directions. "i'm gonna go back to my cabin. do you want to come with us to explain? we can talk about it there. you're alright. keep your breath." he reached a hand out for her to take, noting that he had used a plural 'us', assuming that augusta would be joining them. they all knew. the only ones, other than laika, and he wasn't sure that the hunter quite counted. "it'll be alright. it has to be. don't let the dread get too big yet."

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Quest Meeting Group|

Mirabelle watched as Chiron seemed to think for a moment, his gentle eyes flickering over the crowd. She was quickly distracted by Laika's prompt departure, however. The lioness brushed past her in one swift motion, and she couldn't help but silently remark at the grace of such a predatory animal. Though she had thought Laika's preference for her lion form to be a blatant show of intimidation earlier, she realised now that it was a faster, more agile means of transportation. It made sense as to why the Lieutenant would rather travel in such a fashion. She also noticed Dora heading out, and waved a goodbye in her direction. At least she'll hopefully be safe here. She hoped there would be time to say a proper farewell after the meeting, but she wasn't optimistic. There were still so many people she wanted to say goodbye to... Reese, Emmie, Cass, Yuno... even Mark and Hu. Oh Gods, and Will. She'd barely even gotten the chance to say hello to Will after his arrival the previous night, and now she was supposed to say goodbye, maybe even forever?
Mirabelle was brought out of her thoughts by a familiar sensation of minor discomfort. She had to quickly turn to stifle a sudden sneeze in the fold of her arm. Removing her face from her elbow, she sniffled a little and hoped no one thought anything of it. That feline fur must've gotten to me more than I thought. She cursed herself for not taking a Claritin earlier. If she was lucky, she could avoid having a full on allergy attack. That was not something she was entirely keen on experiencing in front of people. Still, Laika was gone now, and that would hopefully be enough to soothe her sinuses.
Laurel's comment had her listening to the conversation again, and she nodded in agreement. Sure, Vivienne could be an asset if they managed to switch her over. But Mirabelle was less concerned about the logic side of things and more about the emotional side. Vivienne was suffering - that much was clear. And if Khione was just using her... she was someone who needed help. There was no telling if Vivienne would believe them if they pointed out Khione's manipulation, but they had to at least try.
"If all of you are set on attending the quest, you’re not going to be able to fit in the Camp Half-Blood van," Chiron mused aloud. "The weather is too unpredictable to ask the pegasi to fly you..." he tugged at his beard.
"Just squeeze ‘em all in the van," Mr. D supplied, waving offhandedly. "It’ll only be a short while, get the little brats into the city-type area, drop them off, let them figure it out from there."
"The amount of safety violations alone that would break -"
"Do you have a better idea? Either that or let them walk there."

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 3|Tags: Hu & Caspia|Mentions: S'ad's Prank|

"Uh... sister?" Juliet glanced around the cabin, expecting to see Satchi or someone. Instead, a new face greeted her vision. Freckles, big blue-green hazel eyes, and an unruly mop of ginger hair. "Oh! New sister. Neat. Hey, I'm Juliet. Most people call me Jules, though. Call me Julie and I'll set all your stuff on fire." She tried to maintain a serious expression, but soon cracked a lopsided smile. "Nah, I'm just messing with ya. I'm a lot more likely to rob you blind than set anything on fire." Humour danced in her hazel eyes. "Unless you're Mr. D's shirt, that is. Then I'll definitely set you on fire." The comedy in her expression quickly fled when she turned back to Hu, however.
"Uh, yeah, about that - not exactly," Juliet explained. "It's like a gryphon, but not - it's giant - oh - it's better if I just show you. But be careful, and don't get too close to this thing. I have no idea how aggressive it is or even what it is, for the most part." She started to edge out of Cabin 3, gesturing for Hu and her sister to join her if they pleased.

"Like, thanks, man!" Chuck bleated, breaking into a grin. "You have like, no idea how relieving it is to hear that, you know?" He watched as Yuno jotted something down, absently chewing on his sleeve. Always organised, that one. They reminded him of Mira in that sense - though Mira tended to have a mental checklist rather than a physical one. He absently wondered if Mira's mental checklist was colour-coded and had little sticky notes all over it.
"Uh, so like, where do we even start?" Chuck shuffled his hooves in the snow. "We can totally like, get the other satyrs to help and stuff, most of them are like, trying to anyways, I think." He'd seen a few fellow satyrs out in the woods, mostly consoling dryads and attempting to offer help, though they had seemed a bit confused as to how exactly to do so.

Zahra followed the young magician to the stately building, again silently admiring the soaring Greek columns. The sound of many voices rang out as she crested the hill. It seemed the demigods were in some kind of meeting - most likely concerning the troubles they were dealing with, she reckoned. Amidst the crowd, she could sense Set's chaotic energy somewhere close by. "I thank you for your aid, Jay," Zahra whispered, at loathe to interrupt the proceedings. "Now, if you could kindly point me in the direction of the Host, I would be most grateful."

Jack "Reese" Dawson | 17 | Hades/Cabin 13 | Location: Dining pavilion/kitchens | tags: Emmie

"Yes ma'am, that's the spirit!" Reese said, sharing her grin. Given recent events, it was straight up irreverent, but he was having too much fun to care. Her laughter was something like bells, and it was over much too soon. Hmmm, how do I make her keep laughing? He wondered, confusion clouding his features at her sudden change in mood. He slowed from swinging her arm, unsure if he should ask or let it slide. Before he could decide, she was talking again.

My dear Clyde. He knew it was all an act, just part of their scheme, but something in it brought a warmth to his cheeks. Looked away, toward the quickly approaching kitchen door, and nearly missed her question. "Well, my sweet bon-bon, that's a difficult question." He tried to keep his expression even, but a smile tugged at his lips anyway. "That's quite a hard decision..." He said, conspiratorially. 'Hey Reese my boy, a butter pecan like your old man?' His grandpa was grinning, fully expecting him to comply. 'I, uh,' 'Speak up boy!' His grandpa was no longer smiling. 'Stop scaring the boy dear! I will have you know that he follows after his Ma in this one, right Reese?' He'd simply nodded at his grandma, and she'd grinned back and gotten his cone. They had reached the door, and Reese released Emmie's arm to hold it open for her.

"I would have to say mint chocolate chip? And what about you, dear?" He asked, words just as sweet as ever, but a smirk playing at his face.

Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Cabin 10 | tags: Celeste, Aydan|

Ophelia chuckled at Celeste's remark about perfume. It was nice to have something to laugh about, a moment of peace before she returned to the storm. She turned to meet Celeste's eyes at her next remark. Do you expect to fail? The question chilled her to the bone. Maybe she should have acted more proud about it...or more broken up? How could I convince you? I don't wanna go, but the moment I arrived here, I knew I wouldn't make it past twenty-one. Might as well go down with the wind in my sails. Ophelia had noticed early on that those at camp tended toward the younger end of things. She didn't dare ask about what happened after camp. She pulled her sapphire gaze off Celeste, toward somthing over her shoulder, her jaw tightening. If I don't have a choice, I should take the rear guard. Buy them some time.

She was glad to see that Celeste had moved on. She took her explanation of the weapons as an invitation to look over them. She had to admit, it was quite the arsenal. She studied the pens, trying to find a way to tell them apart. "Quite," She said dryly, a bemused look crossing her face.
At the sudden accusation, she stiffened. She thinks I want to go down with the ship?! "I take it that you're new to the demigod part." She said, quirking an eyebrow. But she let it drop, for now. She shouldn't go after this women, she really shouldn't. But you had to accept some things, and move on with living. Death was one of those, a constant friend from her childhood. She had simply run out of fear for it. She shook her head. "Mortal metals are no good against monsters. You'll need some celestial bronze upgrades for these."

A rap at the door caught her attention, and she strode over to open it. "Looks like Aurora's back, I'll get you both to the armoury...I think you'll like it!" She called to Celeste, her amusement at the idea of seeing Celeste look through the armoury catching in her voice. She'll be a kid in a candy store. She reached for the handle and tugged it open to reveal a drained looking Aydan. Her eyes widened and she touched his shoulder with a questioning hand. "Hey, you alright now?" She asked, searching his face. Who do I get to punch for this? She wondered, before remembering that Celeste was behind her. But she wasn't concerned about that right now.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Dining Pavilion | tags: Quest Meeting, open!| mentions: Aiden

Aggy watched the conversation bounce back between campers. Why are they more concerned with some cowardly demigod, than the actuall gods involved? She wondered, but kept her mouth shut, feeding off the antagonistic energy. A boy piped up, barely older than tweleve from the looks of it. But he seemed intent on settling the tensions. He might not look like much, but Aggy could appreciate his feriocity. She'd have to keep an eye on him. She watched the other campers responses, noting how the Skylar girl's cheeks lit up at being called out. Yes, this has been a rather fruitful meeting. She thought, her attention called back to the from by the centaur dude. He was sending the nonquesters back. Aggy perked up at this, watching a large portion of campers get up and take their leave. Ah, so it's a smaller event.

The boy from earlier called her name, and her eyes snapped back to him. "Yep!" She replied enthusiastically, jutting out her chin and holding his gaze as if daring him to challenge her. He should know well that little people are more than they look.

Henry "Hank" Walker | 17 | He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: Dining Pavilion | tags: Lucy, Quest Meeting

Hank let his hand fall from Lucy's arm when she seemed to pin her attention on someone, following them from the building like a coyote pursuing it's prey. He frowned, unsure where that comparison had come from. Of all the creatures, Lucy's more of an antelope. He told himself, shaking his head. He was more than happy to oblige Chiron's orders, as long as his cabinmates did the same. He stood up, waiting for the remaining Cabin 7 campers to make their exit before following them out.

He scowled as he left the dining pavilion, dreading the burial shrouds. Any loss is too much. He sighed, resigned to a rough day.

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Quest Meeting Group|

Mirabelle watched Mr. D's face, souring as he contemplated Laurel's words.
"Oh, Leslie? And how are you gonna find some mode of transport that fits all you little brats on short-notice?" the wine god huffed. Mirabelle could swear he used the incorrect name on purpose."There are -" he paused, visibly counting on his fingers like an oversized second-grader. "- ten of you. You'd have to find one of those ten-person party vans. Or, I could just blast a few of you into smithereens. But Chiron seems to think that's against our mission at this cursed camp."
"Blasting is a form of harm, Mr. D," Chiron reminded him.
"Fine, fine, I'll restrain myself. How about I turn half of them into dolphins instead? Send 'em up the bay. Mayyybe they'll freeze to death, but that's not my problem."
Chiron sighed, offering the demigods an apologetic look. "Freezing is also a form of harm, Mr. D. Besides that point, do any of you know how to drive? I would send Argus or a satyr along with you, but regrettably, we need them here to protect the camp while we are under threat. Argus can accompany you part of the way into Riverhead, but unfortunately after that, I must recall him."
Mirabelle couldn't help but think that Chiron's use of the word 'recall' was mildly amusing; as if Argus was a malfunctioning car or an expired gallon of milk. She thought back on the topic of driving, shaking her head slowly so not to exacerbate her headache further. Thankfully, it had started to recede, dimming back to just a dull throbbing.
"The only means of transportation I know how to handle is a horse," she admitted. "We could rely on public transport if we have to, but I'm not sure what's open or delayed given the weather." Despite herself, she wrinkled her nose at the mention of public transport. She'd had to rely on it a few times in previous quests, and it was not her cup of tea, to put things lightly. The weird smells, the rude people... not to mention the amount of monster attacks they'd had to deal with while riding on a train or bus. She'd found out pretty quickly that fighting on public transport while trying not to get motion-sick? Not a great idea. At least puking on a Scythian Dracanae had provided a good distraction, and the other two demigods had finished it off rather quickly.

banter passed between chiron and mr. d, though it seemed a tad sour. there was more than just jokey bitterness in dionysus' tone - it was coming from somewhere deep inside of him, and such was clear from the vibes the god was giving off. teilo looked between the two of them, watching the thought processes bounce, and finally raised his hand when it came to the question of whether any of them could drive.

unsure if he would be noticed, he cleared his throat a bit. "the weather's alright. i learnt a couple of years ago," he was certainly hoping he wouldn't be asked how he learned - that was a tale for another day. what mattered was that there was something of use that he could provide for the campers, another reason for him to go on the quest that he had, until now, been so apprehensive regarding. "i'm not getting on a bus."

celeste noted that there came no immediate response to her questions, but that was of no bother. it meant that ophelia was thinking about them. if she didn't know, then it meant there would come some form of challenge. in a way, that was what she had been looking to do. if there was anything that she knew, it was that knowing one was going to die young was not an excuse for being okay with it. the fight was bitter until the end - and she had avoided that rather narrowly.
strange, to think that if things had gone the way that they should have, the way that time intended for them to go, in a straight line, that she would have been dead by now. probably. with the warnings on her new cigarette packets, reaching one hundred did not seem so much of a given.

"new to demigods," she said. "but the circumstance is not so different to what i do know, i can assure you." all wars were the same war, be the threat germans or titans. her hands clasped together, and with a little, wry smile, she nodded at the changes that would have to come to her little collection. "i can lose most of these. i don't think it would be a good idea to keep the case lying around for any prying fingers to open." though if it did end up exploding, she supposed that that would be the perfect excuse for redecorating the dollhouse cabin.

the mention of upgrades and the following rap at the door had her hand shifting into her pocket, pawing at the pistol hidden in a slot of the seams. new bullets would certainly be interesting.
celeste stood, walked over to the door, and kept a respectful distance as conversation passed between the two of them. there was that strange feeling again. odd.
"aydan," she nodded in greeting.

[]Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Dining pavilion|tags:quest meeting group

Jamie listened to the discussion in silence, frowning at Mr. D’s suggestion of vaporizing a few of them to fit into the van. He didn’t have anything helpful to contribute to the dilemma, but he couldn’t say he was upset about anything delaying their departure. He’d made up his mind to go on the quest but that didn’t mean he was looking forward to it.

He glanced up when Aiden addressed Aggy, his gaze going to the girl who had threatened him yesterday for no apparent reason. Hadn’t she just arrived at camp? He couldn’t say he was surprised that the aggressive girl was determined to go. If he’d had the excuse of being new and inexperienced, surely he would’ve taken that. Come to think of it, he probably could use that excuse. He wasn’t exactly new, but anyone who had seen his lack of skills with a weapon could argue that he was inexperienced, or at least not a useful asset in a fight.

He blinked and shook the thought away, realizing his gaze had still been on Aggy when he’d gotten lost in his thoughts. He turned his eyes away quickly, not wanting to give the girl another excuse to pummel him.

[]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|dining pavilion|Tags:Khione

Caleb got up reluctantly when Chiron asked anyone not attending the quest to leave. He’d gotten away with hanging around, but he didn’t want anyone to think he was going with them if he hung around much longer. He had more important things to attend to back at camp, including being acting head counsellor apparently. Thinking of those other important things, being asked to leave the meeting was a bit irritating to say the least.

He headed out of the dining pavilion with the rest of the campers evacuating the meeting, glancing back only once at the group who stayed. He knew most of them, some better than others, and the realization sent a surge of guilt through him. He didn’t want to hurt any of his fellow campers, but he didn’t have a choice in what he was doing. He shoved the thought back and turned away, the face of his younger sister, Orla, appearing in his mind. The thought of her choppy, uneven bangs and crooked, gap-toothed grin brought a bittersweet smile to his face. It would be worth it. He had to trust that the questers could take care of themselves, they’d be fine.

He didn’t go very far when he left the dining pavilion, stopping outside the doorway and leaning against a column, head tilted slightly as he strained to hear the conversation continuing on inside. Mount Marcy. So they did have a location. He stayed where he was for a few minutes longer, but eventually he got the feeling he’d heard all the important bits. They were just discussing transportation now, that didn’t really matter to him.

He drew in a slightly shaky breath, running a hand through his hair before pushing off the column and heading out towards the woods with purpose in his step and a calm, confident expression painted on his features. Not wanting to raise suspicion, he offered his usual charming grin to those that he passed, the look perfectly practiced to be believable despite the turmoil in his head.

He headed down to the lake, where he assumed no one would be at this time, and glanced around to make sure nobody was around before he raised his hand, using the prism on one of his rings to reflect the cold, bright sun and create a rainbow. This wasn’t one of his inventions, simply a happy accident that he’d found out one of his more eccentric style choices actually had a use. He fished a golden drachma out of his pocket and flipped it into the air.

“Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering.” His words were quiet, but they still seemed to ring out in the air, any other sounds dampened by the snow that covered the ground. He couldn’t think about what he was doing. If he thought, he might second guess himself, and he couldn’t do that. He just had to recite the words, not let the weight of what he was doing take hold.

“Show me Khione, goddess of snow.”

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?
