meeting group╚xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╝ "it's an art," orin muttered back to auggie, though there was notably less wind in his sail. he had hyped himself up for it. it was over. the bit was done. that was ticked off of the list.
laika was talking. the attacks in toronto, in chicago - they were mentioned. he'd almost forgotten about them. it was almost funny. so much had happened that the attacks there seemed like news for the sidelines. a threat to deal with at a later date.
his face hardened a bit, and when the polite call for anyone who was not attending came from the centaur's mouth, orin wasted no time in backing out, glancing to check if auggie was following after him.
unless she was planning on going on the quest.
was she? he didn't know. what he also didn't know - something that felt much more intense, problematic - was why the thought sent a little crash of panic over him.
he pushed it away. there was time for that later. out into the open air once more, orin's sights were set on his cabin. there was no more time-wasting now. he looked a state, he felt a state, and being averse to tasting something that would make him feel a bit sad seemed a foolish way to go. with all of that in tow, there were other things to tend to, as well - more 'daily routine' things that he had been putting off.
so, with a severe lack of spring in his step and without much of a look back, he started making his way to his cabin.

group╚xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╝ when laika piped up, teilo had to finish the still rather hot cup to stop himself from having a little go of his own. it made him angry, the way they talked about this girl like she was a thing, a bomb, rather than a person who had gone through hardship and likely had been manipulated into things that she never had the chance to understand the true nature of. the perspective was one that had its faults, absolutely, but he didn't think that there was a single person who wasn't worth speaking to - understanding.
everyone, through their difficulties, was trying their best to be happy. they were doing the things that they needed to do - because life is short and the days are long, and was not going to pass judgement on a situation that he very well could have found himself in if not for the guiding hand that brought him to camp.
able to bite his tongue for a tad longer, and happy for the interruption of the boy who called for a check of the news, accompanied by chiron's gentle hand that led them away from the debate that was threatening a boiling point, he took a breath in and settled with listening.
there were so many threats stacking on top of each other that it was almost difficult to pinpoint what was the 'worst' - and in their grouped existences, the punch felt less. after the events of the day previous, the revelations felt nothing short of expected. desensitised, perhaps. or maybe just lost for stress.
a chance to leave. to choose to go - and yet he remained still, watching and waiting as the faces lifted and shuffled out of the mess hall. he had to. this felt important. the fear was no good excuse for idleness. it felt as though it was meant to happen.

──── Aiden Seaver
【✦】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | ➡ Dining Pavilion | Tags: Quest Meeting Group
❝𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜❞
Hearing Mirabelle agree with Lucy was equal parts surprising and revolting. Still, he supposed the puppeteer daughter of Apollo made a fair point. The sound of arguing drew everyone's attention and Aiden knew who was involved without having to look up. Dahlia... A wave of sympathy washed over him. Given how inseparable the twins were, it was no wonder Delilah was so upset to hear her sister was leaving her behind. Though, especially now, Aiden couldn't say he blamed her. The sound of Skylar's voice pulled Aiden back into the meeting. "You're not serious," he responded, disbelieving. "She has a right to be angry, Skylar. How do you think I would've felt if you had died yesterday? In my arms when Teilo and I carried you out of the forest? You know me, I don't anger easily. Gods forbid if I do, and I can only imagine what losing the one person she ever cared about did to her. She has exploded. This is her rage, everything that's been pent up for five years, and it's being focused by Khione." He stated. There were murmurs of agreement, and while Aiden wasn't necessarily angry, his irritation was apparent.
Aiden had said his share on the topic, and he didn't feel the need to reiterate his spill when Dora spoke in agreement with Skylar. At least most of us feel she deserves a chance, he thought once the daughter of Apollo finished. Hearing Teilo speak up on the subject shouldn't have surprised Aiden, but it did nonetheless. He seemed to lean more towards the side of him and Mira, which Aiden was relieved to hear. Then again, Teilo had had his own share of loss. He knew better. Is that what all this is about? Aiden doubted it. Maybe it was a thought in the back of Vivienne's mind, but it certainly wasn't the main cause of her actions. "Wh─" Orin's blathering about bagels (or something) and the news were odd, but he didn't think much about it. Aiden didn't recognize "Sky News" beyond being, well, obviously a news station, but the blundering from the child of Zeus was enough to send Lucy away from the meeting, which that alone Aiden was thankful for.
"A bloodthirsty shadow?" The Athena camper stopped being surprised by Laika and her entrances, as she made them unnecessarily dramatic on the daily. Is that the god Khione's in league with? It didn't feel right, a little too off-kilter to be connected. Correlation, not causation. Thankfully, Chiron spoke up to keep everyone grounded. "Let us focus on Khione and her involvement for now. We can discuss the other matters in more depth after we get our current dilemma in order." There were a lot of events going on, and a lot of names were being tossed about. They needed to keep their eyes on one thing at a time, that being Khione and Vivienne. At the mention of the group separating between participating questers and those who were only present to provide information, Aiden peeked around Jamie, his eyes settling on Teilo. "You don't have to stay," he informed the other softly. "I told you wrong, at the lake. You don't have to put yourself through this. It doesn't have to be your job to save the world."──── Lucy Blitzen

❝𝚒 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚘𝚏 𝚖𝚢𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏 𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚗 𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚛❞
"At least someone appreciates my input." Lucy murmured, sitting back in a small pout. Thank you, Mira. she sneered internally, not seeming to register Hank's kind gesture. With the Delilah Dahlia debacle having come to a close, she returned her attention to the meeting. The daughter of Apollo didn't care one way or the other whether Vivienne was brought back alive or dead, or even brought back at all. But there weren't any doubts that she was being manipulated into committing all the atrocities they saw before them, and the questers could do what they wanted with that information. From the sounds of it, there was a fairly even divide; one half saw Vivienne as a culprit who needed to pay for her crimes, while the other saw her as a victim who needed the chance to atone for them. This piqued her interest, causing her to become mildly interested in which outcome would result. Then came a theory of Vivienne's secondary goal: bringing Audra back.
"Don't be stupid." she sniffed in the direction of the unfamiliar boy. "How would any of this accomplish that? Maybe that is what she wants, but she doesn't have a means." Lucy pointed out. "If Khione isn't working with Hades, what big, scary god would she be in league with that would give Vivienne the idea that it was possible? Thanatos?" She scoffed. "He's even more docile than the lord of the underworld, from what I hear. Victim or not, wanting your loved one back from the dead doesn't give you the right to kill anyone else to do it. At this rate, she may as well start kidnapping children." She spat. The shape of a lioness jumping onto the picnic table in the center of the meeting certainly gave Lucy a start, but her heart settled once she recognized the Roman Lieutenant of Artemis. She was quick to turn out her words as the ancient daughter of Pluto droned on, though she was rather tickled by how personally Laika took the attack against her Greek father's pride.
Laika mentioned something about mass killings in Toronto and Chicago, but the rest was lost on Lucy, especially when Orin popped by. As she'd grown familiar with seeing, the son of Zeus made a point to interrupt the meeting, babbling on about croissants and checking the news. The news? Lucy excused herself from the meeting before Chiron dismissed them, nudging Hank as she went. "You might want to make sure Dora isn't going, for your sanity's sake." The daughter of Apollo cast one last look to the gathered group before turning away, running straight for Orin. She spotted him standing with Augusta, the Hades cabin head counselor, but she couldn't care less who she was right now. "Orin!" Her voice lost all of its singsong luster as she came to a halt, nearly slipping in the snow. "What are you on about with the news?" She demanded. "You've seen something, haven't you? You had your phone out at camp. Show me."

|⟡|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Quest Meeting Group|
Gods, Mirabelle wanted to puke when Lucy acknowledged her tepid agreement. Still, the points being made were valid ones. But she wouldn't lose faith. It wasn't like her to do that. No one is irredeemable, her own words came back to her. Not even people like Lucy. Not even Vivienne. She knew she was being hypocritical, however. No one is irredeemable - no one except me. The years of guilt she had held onto were a testament to that. How could she possibly forgive herself for the things she'd done? It was out of the question.
Lucy was talking again, and Mirabelle found herself wishing she would just shut up already. She secretly wished they all would. The constant bantering was certainly exacerbating her headache. She figured its initial onset was due to her turbulent sleep, but the growing din was enough to cause it to rise from a soft throbbing to a painful pounding. Resisting the urge to massage her temples, she clenched her jaw ever so slightly.
'Victim or not, wanting your loved one back from the dead doesn't give you the right to kill anyone else to do it'. Lucy's words stuck in her mind. The conniving beast was right, though she hated to admit it. Agreeing with Lucy? Again? Mes dieux, what has become of me?
Thankfully, Aiden's voice broke through Mirabelle's thoughts. She murmured in accordance with his words to Skylar, though internally she felt as if she were being torn apart. Seeing a good deal of her friends argue like this... Gods, it hurt. She took a small breath and shoved the painful emotions down, bottling them up as always. She forced her facial features into a neutral expression and remained silent, having said all she needed to say for the time being.
Mirabelle watched as a good deal of the attendees filed out of the dining pavilion, leaving only Chiron, Mr. D, and a handful of demigods. Some of the faces caught her by surprise - Teilo and Aggy especially, given how new they were to all of this.
Dahlia, she had expected; the daughter of Nemesis had confessed her plans just the other day. She knew Dahlia was setting out to protect Delilah - a sentiment which Mirabelle shared. That, and Camp Half-Blood had been home to the twins for longer than she could remember. Of course Dahlia would want to defend her home.
Karter... Mirabelle didn't know him all that well, but she hadn't pegged him as the type to risk his neck for anyone. Perhaps he was going for personal glory or something of the sort? Or perhaps she had simply misjudged him.
Ash's presence was only moderately surprising. She knew he was a relatively positive and supportive guy; it made sense that he would want to help out his fellow demigods. She also remembered that he was really into video games - didn't some of those have 'quests' to complete or something? She hadn't really played any herself, apart from Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros with her dad when she was much younger. But Juliet had talked her ear off about Legend of Zelda enough times for her to get the gist. Maybe he viewed it as an opportunity to be a real-life video game character.
Laurel wasn't a shock to her either; the older girl had been at Camp Half-Blood even longer than Mirabelle. It was perfectly rational that she would want to defend her home. Besides, having her along would certainly be a boon power-wise - Mirabelle had heard rumours of her achievements the previous night. Using lightning to hold up the collapsing Big House so people could escape was very brave and selfless. Though Mirabelle didn't exactly know how the science behind that even worked. She was a bit wary to have two children of the Big Three going on the quest; they would surely attract a lot of monster attention. They were bound to do that anyway, what with such a large group of demigods.
Mirabelle couldn't remember the last time she'd seen Aiden volunteer for a quest, but his presence almost provided a sense of relief. Especially given the remarks he had made concerning Vivienne. It was nice to know that with both him and Teilo along, she wouldn't be the only one willing to give the bitter young woman a chance. His patient and level-headed nature would make him a valuable asset.
Mirabelle was a bit disheartened to see that Skylar had remained. Not only because the other girl had been so ready to condemn Vivienne, but because Mirabelle felt a particular responsibility towards Skylar. She had always viewed the daughter of Hecate as a younger sister. The prospect of seeing her set out on a quest she may not return from... It was almost too much. I'll just have to make sure she stays safe. Logically, she knew Skylar was perfectly good at taking care of herself - she had all that magic for a reason, after all. But her protective instincts remained, much as she tried to quash them.
Jamie was another person she was surprised to see still there. He was a pacifist by nature, she knew. Not only that, but Jamie was another person she cared deeply for, and felt very protective towards. It was heartening to see another friendly face along, as well as someone else who had defended Vivienne in the face of those who were so quick to convict her. Jamie may not have been the best in combat, but he had other skills that would be of great use - skills that others may discount. His big heart was key among them; a quality which Mirabelle greatly admired.
One notable absence however was Argus - the chief of security usually attended meetings like this. So where was the many-eyed giant?
"Mirabelle, you were saying Mount Marcy is where you will need to go?"
Chiron's voice shattered her musings, dragging her back to the conversation at hand.
"Er - yes," she started, sounding uncharacteristically awkward. "I've been having dreams. But one in particular stood out - I was - I was visited by Aphrodite." She twisted a strand of blonde hair around her pointer finger as she spoke, mentally willing her sudden nervousness to dissipate. "She showed me where we need to go, and I recognised it immediately. Mount Marcy, in the Adirondacks. We can access it via the hiking trails in Lake Placid. It's about an eight hour drive from here. When I saw it in my dream, it was covered in snow - a massive storm swirled around the peak." She managed to bottle up her anxiety, though her tone sounded dead and hollow. Chiron met her eyes with a gentle, sad gaze. He was one of the few people who knew that Lake Placid had been Mirabelle's home for most of her life. He also knew why she was hesitant to go back there, and the reason she had spurned any previous quests that could have led up to the area. My father. The prospect of seeing him again was enough to stop her heart. All the memories attached to that place were now tinged with the bittersweet guilt of what she had done to him. It was for his own good, she reminded herself, but the words felt empty. He would have gotten himself killed otherwise. Externally, she kept her expression stolid, though she could do little to hide the trepidation that shone in her blue-grey eyes.

"Uh... sister?" Juliet glanced around the cabin, expecting to see Satchi or someone. Instead, a new face greeted her vision. Freckles, big blue-green hazel eyes, and an unruly mop of ginger hair. "Oh! New sister. Neat. Hey, I'm Juliet. Most people call me Jules, though. Call me Julie and I'll set all your stuff on fire." She tried to maintain a serious expression, but soon cracked a lopsided smile. "Nah, I'm just messing with ya. I'm a lot more likely to rob you blind than set anything on fire." Humour danced in her hazel eyes. "Unless you're Mr. D's shirt, that is. Then I'll definitely set you on fire." The comedy in her expression quickly fled when she turned back to Hu, however.
"Uh, yeah, about that - not exactly," Juliet explained. "It's like a gryphon, but not - it's giant - oh - it's better if I just show you. But be careful, and don't get too close to this thing. I have no idea how aggressive it is or even what it is, for the most part." She started to edge out of Cabin 3, gesturing for Hu and her sister to join her if they pleased.

"Like, thanks, man!" Chuck bleated, breaking into a grin. "You have like, no idea how relieving it is to hear that, you know?" He watched as Yuno jotted something down, absently chewing on his sleeve. Always organised, that one. They reminded him of Mira in that sense - though Mira tended to have a mental checklist rather than a physical one. He absently wondered if Mira's mental checklist was colour-coded and had little sticky notes all over it.
"Uh, so like, where do we even start?" Chuck shuffled his hooves in the snow. "We can totally like, get the other satyrs to help and stuff, most of them are like, trying to anyways, I think." He'd seen a few fellow satyrs out in the woods, mostly consoling dryads and attempting to offer help, though they had seemed a bit confused as to how exactly to do so.

Zahra followed the young magician to the stately building, again silently admiring the soaring Greek columns. The sound of many voices rang out as she crested the hill. It seemed the demigods were in some kind of meeting - most likely concerning the troubles they were dealing with, she reckoned. Amidst the crowd, she could sense Set's chaotic energy somewhere close by. "I thank you for your aid, Jay," Zahra whispered, at loathe to interrupt the proceedings. "Now, if you could kindly point me in the direction of the Host, I would be most grateful."

[✩] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|Dining pavilion|tags:Orin, LucyAuggie was briefly distracted by the conversation happening, a morbid curiosity for everything going on as well as concern for what the other campers were facing—not that she’d admit to being worried about them—drawing her in. She was a little frozen in her thoughts, at least not literally frozen this time, and didn’t move at first when Chiron requested those not attending the quest to leave.
People started to go and she watched with a furrowed brow as it happened, feeling a wave of concern for those who remained in their seats. Not all of them were people she expected to see go on a quest. Jamie was still sitting there, looking like a nervous wreck but staying put nonetheless. As if he could hear her thoughts, the boy turned back and noticed her watching, offering a halfhearted smile and a wave. She remembered telling the son of Iris that he’d have to die with the secret of what he’d caught her listening to in his first year at camp. Now she was really hoping he wouldn’t.
She nodded back with a grim expression before turning on her heel and heading out of the dining pavilion. She’d never been one for saying goodbye and that wasn’t about to change now.
She stepped out into the snow, drawing in a breath of cool, crisp air. Her eyes landed on Orin a few paces ahead of her. She hadn’t seen him glance back and felt a brief moment of hurt that he’d left without her. Maybe he just wanted to be alone now. They’d been through a lot in the past couple days and she couldn’t say she blamed him after that ordeal. This was usually the point that she’d shut herself up in her cabin and avoid all forms of human contact.
But for some reason, she quickened her pace to catch up, falling into step beside him without a word. Then there was a shout behind them, and she turned around to face the daughter of Apollo, her expression melting into a frown at the girl’s demanding tone as she asked to see Orin’s phone. [✿]Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Dining pavilion|tags:quest meeting groupAfter he’d said his bit in defence of Vivienne, Jamie stayed quiet. The conversation was starting to explode and he wasn’t one for picking sides in an argument. He listened to Laika’s story and Orin’s rambling about the news with wide eyes, feeling his heart quicken with every word. Was it still too late to back out?
He shook the thought away. Whether he went on the quest or not, bad things would still happen. He couldn’t back out of that. He had to do this. For once, he wasn’t going to be the coward everyone knew he was. He watched the others get up and leave the meeting when Chiron asked, feeling a pang of worry for everyone who remained at the table—himself included. He knew these people, most of them at least, and now he was supposed to go off into the unknown with them and hope they all made it back in one piece.
He looked back as those who weren’t attending the quest started to leave, his eyes drifting to the door where he locked gazes with Auggie. They’d been on somewhat friendly terms since the time he’d caught her listening to Backstreet Boys in his first summer at camp. Of course, friendly for August meant that she hadn’t murdered or maimed him yet, but he was grateful for that regardless and shot her a quick smile and a wave before turning his attention back to the group at the table.
Aiden was leaning around him, saying something to Teilo on the other side of him, who he remembered from their brief interaction before the capture the flag game from Tartarus had gone down. Not wanting to seem nosy, he tried not to listen, but that proved to be pretty difficult considering he was sitting right in the middle. It doesn’t have to be your job to save the world. That was a nice thought. Not too many people at this camp seemed to think that.
if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

mentioned: lucy,
auggie╚xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╝ auggie landed next to him. he didn't quite acknowledge her yet, but the greeting passed silently. a little glance here, a nod there. he probably should have asked her to come with him, but the initiative that she had taken in doing so without request was enough to make him feel just that bit more secure.
it was a short walk. the cabin was in sight, and he was ready to get inside - but then came the interception of the shrill sound of his voice being called.
he considered pretending that he hadn't heard - simply continuing to walk, but fast footsteps were approaching far too quickly, and ignoring people when they were right in front of him was something that he had not yet quite mastered. perhaps one day.
he took a deep breath in, held it there, and then span around, flashing another smile. "lucy," he greeted her, though it seemed that he wasn't going to get the same polite response. her questions began, flying in the air, and his hand subconsciously went toward his back pocket, protecting the device - as though that mattered.
"no oxbridge pleasantries, then?" he scratched his nose a tad awkwardly. "it was just a suggestion. just thought it would be a good idea to catch up with the news before dipping out into the big, wide world. current times, anything could have happened. some people have only been here a day, sure, but - you know, we're living in the future. this is a day hence. outside, there could be robots on the street. kim kardashian might be the new pope. we don't know."
it lasted a moment. he didn't really have the energy to continue the act much further. his head was splitting itself in two, and that was a concern for many a reason. he needed to get back to his cabin. just for a bit, just to manage himself, to get the bruise off his face, to make sure that the rest was all in working order. it would've been a miracle if it was, given the recent events, but he thought he quite deserved a little miracle.
folding, though not for lack of trying, but lack of bothering, orin let the smile fade and pulled the phone from his pocket. after checking it for any messages - of which he found none of note - he tapped the 'news' icon, dragged the article up, and passed it over. all without a word, no quips that forbade her from looking anywhere else on the screen. just silence. he knew her power - maybe a bit of him was trying to stop his words from being repeated outside of contexts that he could hear them. maybe he was just a bit tired.
"you got me," he said, his tone in an odd equilibrium of sing-song and dull monotony. "kim kardashian's not the new pope. would've been funny if she was, though, wouldn't it?" a brief, forced smile. "if that'll be all, i have some things that i need to sort out. my face, mainly. not that there's much that can be done to this mug that'll make it any better, but hey. no harm in trying to polish the turd." there was no heart in it. the situation was dire. the jokes fell flat.

group, jamie, aiden╚xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╝ lucy's onslaught became directed at him, and it was giving him quite an issue to not bite his tongue in half in his efforts to hold it. the truth was that they did not know the nature of the supposed deity working alongside khione. they didn't know what she had up her sleeve. discounting something that had been off the cuff with such a scoff seemed a bit foolish.
and then she mentioned thanatos, and his 'docility', whatever that meant, and his scowl became a very small smirk, hidden as he dipped his head down. he didn't know much about his father. had spoken to him once so far, and the words were very far away -
apart from a few. 'there is lots to come'. that had seemed important. the god had said it like it would mean something one day, like he wanted the words to be heeded, kept close to the heart.
regardless of what he knew and didn't know, it didn't seem beyond possibility that there was some magnanimous 'other' pulling the strings.
the smile slipped when she talked about dead loved ones, became the pensive, ever-so-slightly guarded expression that it defaulted to. his eyes turned up when his name was mentioned by aiden. he hadn't quite anticipated it, in all honesty - and the memory of carrying the child of hecate to warmth was one that had almost slipped away in the hectic mash.
contact made between their eyes, and aiden seemed to say exactly what the reasonable part of his brain was screaming at him. he wasn't ready. he wasn't prepared for something this big. he should have been picking up his bags, saying his little goodbyes, and drifting back to his cabin.
but by that logic, he would never be ready.
"i'm alright," teilo said. "and i'm not putting the fate of the world in the hands of a load of american teenagers. that hardly even works in films about fictional end-of-days scenarios. gods help us in the real world." it was a joke. it wasn't very funny, but if it lessened the anxiety, then it would be enough. he offered a smile through pursed lips. "i'll manage alright. if i die, then i suppose it's just a way of giving my dad custody, isn't it?" he put the mug down on the table. "i'm going. there's not much else to say about it."

Skylar Kakitid, 16 years old, Female, Daughter of Hecate, 7 year camper, Location: Dining Pavilion, Tags: Quest Meeting People, Mentions: None
Skylar nodded and understood where they were coming from. She definitely did not think they should just kill Vivienne and she didn't like arguing with Mira, whom she saw as a close mom-like friend. Mira had always been caring to Skylar, since day one at camp. So she sat silent as a few others argued and defended her. She didn't really care that much whether she "won" the argument. She just wanted to make sure her warnings were acknowledged. Honestly, she was just here so the smart people could point to her who's butt she needed to kick. She had no idea about all this planning. The Lieutenant from earlier added some more information while the argument continued. Chiron looked uncomfortable with all the arguing and finally just asked everyone who wouldn't be a part of the quest to leave. Surprising herself, Skylar stayed. Maybe she would be needed. Not to be smart or plan anything, but just be the power and magic behind the quest. That would be her job.
Suddenly, she heard Aiden start speak irritatedly towards her and she turned to him, half-listening. That is when he claimed he and Teilo had been the ones who had rescued her from the forest. Skylar felt her whole face heat up. She hadn't known who had rescued her and felt embarrassed by have being saved by another counselor. Someone she knew... She looked down, ashamed of the weakness she had shown in the forest. She couldn't believe he had brought that up like that, though. She had hoped no one she knew would know about this weakness, but now Aiden had told it to everyone at the table. Hopefully this did not spread and ruin her reputation. Skylar also wondered how he had carried her, she was definitely taller than him. She didn't really pay attention to much after that, still embarrassed and still thinking about her decision to stay. They seemed really passionate about this and kind of angry. Maybe she shouldn't be a part of this after all.
Skylar heard the subject change abruptly to the quest. That was more important after all. They could discuss this whole Vivienne debate after they got going. She didn't think they should kill Vivienne, but it would probably be better if they came up with a way to stop her. They couldn't just have no plan and hope she turned. That got people killed. She heard Mira and Chiron talk about a mountain and Skylar couldn't help but wonder if it was the same one she had glimpsed in her vision in the forest. She listened quietly, however, not tent herself to speak. She reminded herself that she was not here to argue or be smart or make decisions. That was the smart people's job. She was just here to hopefully help with the fighting. And try not to make enemies along the way. And try not to die.

Just going to wait for Caspia before she’s overwhelmed with interactions
Sadly, Hu couldn't find any 'welcome back to your mortal body!' posters. Even an orange and blue confetti popper would have done the trick. But alas, Hu had stored all her explosives and other fatally annoying devices at the other side of the cabin, so she clapped instead. "YAY! Welcome back to your mortal body!" she said, then looked her sister up and down, before wrapping Caspia in a hug. "YOU'RE NOT A FISH! I NEVER THOUGHT TWO DAUGHTERS OF AN ANCIENT MYTHOLOGY'S GOD OF HORSES WOULD EVER SAY THAT IN A SPAN OF 30 SECONDS! IT'S TRULY A WONDER!"
Just then, a knock rapped the door. Hu recognized it as Juliet's distinctive tapping. "Heyyyyy Shakespeare! Guess what? My sister's a human!" She saw the look on her friend's face and grinned. "So what's up? Got another victim to rob?"

Laika had been planning to travel with the questers, if not to only have peace of mind that they hadn’t gone and provoked any Titans or giants of the sort. They didn’t need more enemies.
Suddenly, a feeling, a flood of memories, swept over her. Temple Hill, but dotted with less temples. The barracks of the 5 cohorts, the glowing eagle mounted high. The pine tree on Half-Blood Hill was unfamiliar, hostile even. And the Big House had literally fallen apart. To say the least, Laika could just feel Camp Jupiter calling her home. She had to find Camp Jupiter, and the romans of the 21st century. With that, Laika, now a pale lioness, gazed at the campers who seemed to be remaining and then bounded out of the crowd, heading for Cabin 8.
Back at her desk, Laika pored over the remaining correspondences, most with groups of hunters across the globe, trying to find a connection between the chimera in San Cabo and the hellhound running rampant on the shores of Crete. She could only hope she wouldn’t be disturbed again.

──── Aiden Seaver
【✦】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | ➡ Dining Pavilion | Tags: Quest Meeting Group
❝𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜❞
Aiden breathed; it wasn't a laugh. It was meant to be one. "I won't tell you no." He shook his head. "I can't. It's your decision, so... I hope you've thought it all the way through." Everyone else here had already made their peace; Mirabelle, Skylar, Jamie, Dahlia, Ash, Laurel, Karter, even himself. Aggy was... "Hey, Aggy." Aiden piped up to the unclaimed camper from the Hermes Cabin. "You uh, you know that all the campers not participating are good to go, right?" He imagined she'd just come to hear about the meeting, but she'd just missed the part where Chiron released her. When Mira began to speak, Aiden gave her his full attention. Mount Marcy. He wasn't familiar with the name, but Mira sounded as though she knew it better than just by its name. Eight hours from Long Island wasn't, Aiden thought. It brought him a small amount of relief to know that they wouldn't be leaving New York, but the idea that the threat was so close was no less unsettling. Laika Krieger exited the meeting along with many of the other campers prior, leaving only a few scratches and bundles of fur to mark her territory. Why's she gotta be so weird?──── Lucy Blitzen

"Cut the crap, Orin." If he'd had any more jokes prepared, she was having none of them. There was a certain, characteristic ferocity in her tone that suggested she wouldn't hear him tell her no. The usually upbeat and airheaded child of Zeus seemed to crumble before her. Normally, Lucy was never so harsh with Orin; she saw him as a valuable asset, and his mad, happy-go-lucky attitude made him easy to cooperate with most days. Whether it was the events of the day before, or Lucy's words on their own, or even a combination of the two, she wasn't sure. Orin responded promptly, pulling the phone from his pocket. The daughter of Apollo wasted no time feasting her eyes on the secrets within, but nothing could have prepared her for what she saw. "What is..." She snatched the phone from his hands and tapped on the video, a different emotion clouding her normally cheerful expression. Slowly, it morphed into horror, following the same signs as Orin's and Auggie's before. A hand covered her mouth, tears spilling from her eyes. Real tears.
Lucy refrained from dropping the phone, but she passed it back to Orin with trembling hands. "Do you know what this means?" She whispered, her voice cracking. "They don't need me anymore. They're going to kill her." There was a reason her current expression was a new one; it was fear.──── Maxine "Moxie" Bishop

What am I supposed to do? Moxie paced back and forth within the cramped room, the hum of an air conditioning unit serving to mute everything besides her own thoughts. Julius lay at the foot of the cleanly made bed, sharing his partner's anxiety. A pause. "Laika Krieger." Julius perked his ears, though Moxie wouldn't expect him to recognize the name. They've never met, after all. With frenzied hands, she dug through the bag she'd brought with; she'd only packed the essentials, with everything else having been left behind in Pennsylvania. From its depths, she produced a single drachma, and one of her rings slipped from her finger and transformed into a golden dagger. "I've never done this before, but here goes." Moxie shifted the blade until it caught the light from the window, a rainbow forming on its golden surface. "Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering." She spoke formally, pausing for a sigh. "Show me Laika Krieger, Lieutenant of Artemis." Maxine tossed the drachma into the glare cast on the dagger, the coin vanishing within its depths. Within moments, she was faced with the scowl of a very focused daughter of Pluto. Moxie reflexively stood at attention. "Admiral Krieger, sir."

[✩] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|Dining pavilion|tags:Orin, LucyAuggie didn’t bother attempting a pleasant greeting, but that wasn’t something she was usually known for. She was more tired than she’d realized and the lack of sleep was finally starting to hit her. She rubbed a hand across her face, not eager to hear Kingston’s bitter monologue repeated but not wanting to deal with Lucy’s demanding tone much longer—or to keep anyone in the dark about what was going on, but that was more of an afterthought.
She glanced at Orin when he attempted to make a joke, silently wondering why he would bother when Lucy clearly wasn’t going to let up until she got what she wanted. Even he didn’t seem to be impressed by his own lines, and gave up before she could say anything. She watched with a somber expression as Orin took his phone out, cueing the video for the younger girl to see. Part of her felt bad witnessing this, the moment of curiosity before everything caved in, just another disaster piling onto the end of the world. She chewed on her lip nervously, not looking forward to hearing the voice of the crooked politician again.
Her gaze stayed down on the snow covered ground as the video played, jaw clenched tightly as the words seemed to drill into her head, the beating only contributing to the pounding headache that wouldn’t seem to let up. Ambrosia didn’t seem like such a bad idea at this point, though she’d still do her best to avoid it if she could manage. The thrumming in her head served as a valuable distraction from the video, she sank into the feeling, focusing on the fuzzy pain and lightheadedness rather than listening to the words coming from the phone speaker.
She didn’t look up until she heard Lucy speak, the daughter of Apollo’s voice much less fierce than it had been just moments before. She blinked in surprise. Of course, nobody would have a very good reaction to what she had just witnessed, but she wasn’t sure she had ever seen the girl cry when she wasn’t trying to manipulate someone with her tears.
“What are you talking about?” she asked, the confusion and anxiety making her voice come out a little harsher than she meant to. She hadn’t intended to snap at Lucy, but she was getting a little tired of people speaking half-truths and airing vague concerns without any context. She made a conscious effort to soften her voice as much as she could, though her hard expression remained. “Kill who?”
if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?
