Mavis MacDounagh was born, an only child, on the 21st of February in the year 2066. She had a peaceful, happy and well, normal life, at least, it was. When Mavis discovered her telekinesis, aged 4, her mom and dad freaked out. They told a Taskforce member who lived just down the street, because Mavis was just about to turn 5. They had to put her in a school, and the schools for in-humans would mean everyone was safe. A Taskforce officer came to her house, and explained to her she was going to a 'special school' because of her 'special abilities' and that she'd have a 'great time.' and that she could be a 'hero' and 'save the planet, improve it' She'd see her mom and dad whenever she wanted, and she'd learn loads! Mavis was okay with the move, and she went to the school, planning to see her mom and dad within a few days to tell them all about her new friends!
When she got to the school, she began taking mandatory, power based classes, and after a few days Mavis decided she wanted to see her family. But when she asked, she was told, no that's not happening and the small child had a tantrum. She missed her mom and dad! She ended up discovering she also could shift into a demon. All in front of a Taskforce officer, which resulted in her being taken to another side of the school, for different sorts of tests. Things like seeing her abilities and what her powers could do. Before she knew it, she was in an isolated facility. Her classes stopped, because they took up 'too much time' and were 'too risky.'
This went on for two or three years, no changes, nobody new, nothing new; unless you consider harder tests new. Tests were done daily, until one day, she met this lovely young woman. Her name was Carrie, she was able to make people see things that weren't there. She helped Mavis, helped her see things. She had been moved into the facility, and she cared deeply for the people around her. She'd often point Mavis' tattooed number, and compare it to her own and would say it was horrible that they had them. That it was unnatural and disgusting. The words drilled themselves in Mavis' mind, she guessed they meant bad things, the tattoos weren't nice. She hated hers.
Carrie and Mavis got extremely close. Often times, the teachers were just cruel and mean to them. So Carrie always took care of Mavis, and made sure that she didn't just go straight to sleep after the day of power use, that she'd eat and drink. And Carrie could check and make sure she wasn't hurt. There were a few times she did come back hurt, days Mavis couldn't control herself. But she quickly learned not to. Carrie had enough seeing how drained both she and Mavis had become. Mavis, who was only 10, didn't want to be there. Who would? Carrie didn't either and one day, she managed to cause a few guards to see things that weren't there, like, a pair of in-humans who were escaping. All the guards left, running to catch them. Mavis and Carrie took their chance, and left running, using fire-exits in order to leave.

_______________________________________Getting out was difficult because they did have some run-ins with guards, but thankfully Carrie had managed to keep the duo alive. When they got out, they ran as far as they could into the city, and together they found a place to stay for the night, and for the next little while. Occasionally, Carrie would find a cheap bed and breakfast to stay in for the night and she and Mavis would. Where they'd usually stay was an old, very run down abandoned shop and they were found one night after staying there for about four months. Mavis managed to get out, and, well sadly, Carrie ended back in Taskforce hold. Mavis ran for a while. She lived off stolen goods and had even stolen clothes for herself so she wasn't in the gown she wore in the facility.
She wandered around the city, sleeping wherever she could with a teddy she had stolen, until one day she got caught stealing. The man who found her stealing his shops goods chased her for a while. Then Mavis ran into Michael, and he saved her from the man's anger. He took her down to the catacombs and cared for her, minded her. He taught her how to read and write and he took her around the city. He helped her, and she helped him. Being able to steal seemed to be pretty helpful. Since she was so small, nobody expected her to be someone to steal money. She never stole high quantities at once, just what she needed from those who had plenty, Carrie had taught her how to and Mavis was okay at it.
Together the two joined the rebellion when she was fifteen. She had (and still has!) bad anxiety which does often manifest itself in bad behavior which causes a lot of people to dislike her. But she also had a real family and she'd do anything for them.
During her time in the rebellion, Mavis grew up. She was a recruit when she met Graham and Milo. They became her parental figures and she began to really look up to them. She had her brother Michael too. She learned to fight, became more talkative. And with that, yeah, she got mad at people a lot and got herself into arguments a lot when she was 15, 16. Then as she began turning 17 and getting older, Mavis fought people less. She still argued and got into physical altercations with people but, it was far less. She was finally maturing and learning how to properly cope.

_______________________________________She met Sparrow when she and her hit it off. They began to talk, became friends, then best friends, then they began dating. Mavis and Sparrow were really close and she could talk to her girlfriend about anything. They were dating for six months when
Once warned of the bomb, Mavis panicked. She sat on her bunk, frozen when she should've been packing. The initial shock wore off after a few minutes and she packed. She was one of the last to leave the rebellion. They left the rebellion's little place where they lived and began trying to escape the catacombs.
Mavis and Sparrow ran as quick as they could to exit and reconnect with the other rebels. When they was at the most dangerous part of their journey - where they was about to run past the place where the bomb was the beeping began getting louder. The duo knew that they wouldn't get out unhurt. Maybe even alive. So instead they began saying their goodbyes and telling each other they loved each other and that they'd never forget each other. They shared a last kiss and then as the bomb went off; Sparrow stepped in front of her, taking most of the blow. Both of them fell back due to the force of the bomb, and they both had been hit. Sparrow died, and Mavis was knocked out cold, by a piece of rock that hit her face.
Everything calmed down and she woke up a few hours after. Her head hurt. She lost half of her sight - you see - she was now blind in her left eye. She had suffered some burns too down her side and on her arms an legs but they weren't major. Most were first or second degree and only one ended up being super bad. After a few moments it dawned on her, Sparrow was with her. Mavis shot up trying to check her girlfriend's pulse, despite the physical pain she was in being unbearable - Sparrow was gone - all she wanted to know was that Sparrow was alive. The realization fully set in. Mavis remembers how much she cried trying to get Sparrow to come back, and how she stood up and tried search for her. But Sparrow was gone. Unresponsive. She really just wished she could tell her girlfriend how much she loves her. And to find her. Avenge them. The rebels. But most importantly her disappearance. Nobody could get away with what happened. Mavis knew in order to get better she had to leave, leave the place Sparrow *could* be around in. It killed her to, but she had to, in order to get better, to later on be able to fight and look for her. She grabbed her bag and began to get up.
She managed to get out of the catacombs after about a lot of struggling. Along the way, she thankfully found an old first aid kit full of supplies which she used to dress most of her wounds. Anytime she tried to use her powers, she couldn't. She couldn't use her telekinesis anymore, and she couldn't shift.
Then, she forced herself to get up and go. She was very tired, and was dehydrated. So she needed to go in order to get a drink, and get fresh supplies and clean herself up.

_______________________________________She found it tough to get through it all. She was motivated by her book - one of the only not burned things - in her bag. It had pictures of her, and her friends and family. Song lyrics, quotes, a place to write down how she felt. Mavis read it and wrote it in it daily, because she needed the outlet. She missed Sparrow, and she couldn't tell anyone because she had nobody. Over time, she began to blame herself more. She shouldn't of froze up. She shouldv'e been quicker. She should've blocked the blow. She should've saved her and she FAILED. She failed at keeping one of the most important people to her SAFE. She messed up and she can't forgive herself.
After a few months when the burns, the wounds and her eye pretty much entirely healed, she began to hang in the library a lot. She'd sit and read for hours. It helped her feel better, no Taskforce were ever there and it was safe. She was safe there.
For food, Mavis had a lot of take out, and she'd drink a lot of smoothies. She did try eat healthy, but she really didn't have the energy to go buying and trying to store fresh goods. All she had was her bag and her arms and pockets could carry. She slept rough, in old abandoned stores, in the subway, under bridges.
After a few months, she adapted to the one eyed, homeless life, even though she wanted to be home. Home was with the rebels. Yeah, the place mattered, but the people mattered more, she realized.
Mavis wanted to hear the voices of everyone again, but instead she was alone. That took its told on her. She became shut off and antisocial. The voices from the demons had gotten worse. They were angry, and wanted the blood of the Taskforce. But, Mavis was alone. She had nobody to fight alongside, she was trapped.
She was half blind.
Exhausted.
Homeless.
Alone.
Angry.
Sad.
And most importantly,
Just about ready to accept defeat.
She lost the one person she thought was for her, her family. Everyone.
For a short time, she contemplated getting taken by them, so that she could get healthcare, but she decided against it knowing how it would shape her. She had someone to avenge, her girlfriend. They'd turn her into a wrongen, one of them and she didn't want that. Sparrow would be so hurt. Mavis couldn't do that to the person who saved her, the person she loves.
So instead, she stayed alone. Isolated from everyone, Mavis was in the process of healing and getting better.
As it began to progress to the colder months, Mavis found it harder and harder to sleep. She'd be seen asleep in the corner of a library, or curled up in a blanket she was given inside a McDonalds with a chicken wrap and fries. Maybe a McFlurry if her sweet tooth was looking for something sweet. She consumed a lot of tea, and coffee, and soup too. She knew that to survive and not get sick she needed to stay warm, so she did her best.
She hasn't given up. Not now, not ever.
She doesn't give up when she believes in a cause.
Especially not her own.

How's she doing? Mavis has some burn scars on her forearms, thighs, and the small of her back. Pretty much all of her scarring is on the left side. Her left eye has scarring from the rock hitting her left eye. She has some fading scars from wounds she got as she was leaving through the rubble, the most prominent being a slash down her arm. Mavis is shut off, and hasn't really entered the stages of grief yet. She really hasn't had time. She was focused on just surviving and keeping herself clean, and now she really is just focused on finding a job or a consistent form of income, and someplace more permanent and safe to stay. She's adapted to living with only the vision in her right eye and while she wishes she wasn't - she deems herself lucky to still have sight at all because the rock very easily could've hit both eyes but it missed.
