thankfully for orin, the admiral appeared to have remained in her cabin, and it didn't take much bashing on her door before he was being verbally allowed in. there were a thousand words coming at a thousand miles per minute in his head, searching for the way to describe the danger that he perceived them to be in.
it wasn't just the facts of their exposition. no - it was more than that. he hadn't had much time to read the articles, but from what he had gathered, the minister had claimed that they were dangerous. another threat that they had to battle against. one that was much closer to home.

he opened the door, gulped down one of the waves of anxiety, and began to talk. "i know that it's not allowed," he started, not yet taking the seat that he had been offered, instead choosing to pace the room. it wasn't great for pacing in. there were things in the way, things that interrupted his derailing trains of thought. "i checked my phone. it was just - my sister and my ma, they went to dublin yesterday. took a flight. i wanted to make sure that they made it, you know? and - and i wasn't planning on calling them or anything, it was just - it was just to check. aisling normally texts when they land if they're flying without me, so i -" he was getting out of breath, but continued anyway. "but i checked, right? and she's told me to check the news. or she's asked if i've seen it. and i'm like - what could - what could possibly be in the news that would be - that would have any interest to me? you know, i don't really care about - about politics. brexit's nothing to me, it's for the birds. and the rest. the mortal stuff, it goes over my head, but -" finally, he paused to catch his gasps.

and slowly came the next words. "well - look." orin pulled his phone out of his pocket, tapped on the video of the conference, passed it to her, and finally sat down, wringing his hands together anxiously. "he's got the army around camp jupiter. and there's been an attack, and he's blaming it on - on us. and i don't - i didn't know who to go to. i know that we're not - you know, we're not friends, but you've - you've dealt with this before. dictators. proper mad ones. if there's anyone who's gonna have that lived wisdom, then it's gonna be you, right?"

he allowed the video to play, each word from the little speaker driving another stake into his back.
"oh, i don't know, a funeral shroud?"
"he knows. he's - that's - he knows about last night. how could he know about last night? he's a - he's a mortal. i don't -" the panic came in waves. his head was hurting. it was all getting rather too intense for him.

Aiden nodded without looking up from the count on his fingers. "Go for it, I'll be here." Where was his count again? Weapons, armor, changes of clothes, travel toiletries, drachmas, money, emergency nectar and ambrosia, he recounted the list in his head, removing the duffle bag from his shoulder. Everything should fit inside, Will had the forethought to make the shield function doubly as its disguise, as well as make its interior roomier. It could even transform while holding stuff, though that added weight did make it pretty heavy. He dropped the bag on his bed, filling it first with a breastplate and helmet, and then adding a xiphos off to the side. Clothes came next, with a couple handfuls of t-shirts, jeans, socks, and underwear haphazardly tossed on top. A toothbrush, deodorant, toothpaste, hairbrush, a first aid kit, and finally a little tin of ambrosia as the cherry on top. That should be good enough, if I missed anything, someone else probably remembered to bring it. Aiden stuffed a roll of drachmas and a dagger into his pants pocket and slung the bag over his shoulder, stepping back out into the snow.

He spotted Jamie immediately, and it looked as though the Iris camper had his belongings packed far more quickly than he had. "You almost look ready for this." He quipped, hinting at the fact that neither of them was particularly looking forward to dying. "I'm sure we'll be fine. I mean, at least this quest isn't spelling the end of the world this time, right?" He added, sounding confident. "We aren't going up against titans or giants, just a goddess and her temperamental daughter. Ten bucks says we aren't even leaving New York for this." Aiden tried not to think about the alternative.

From the moment they broke away, Lucy could see it. Hank wasn't the same Hank she'd left behind at the end of last summer. She had the same sullen look as all the other campers, which she found to be rather distasteful. They were gone, but someone would fill their place. In a year or two, it'd be like nothing ever happened. The Apollo cabin would be just as lively as ever, right? Seventeen, and... "Five Apollo campers?" Her eyes widened as she looked through the ranks, many of her siblings slowly meandering towards the breakfast buffet spread. The names Carmen and Mary weren't familiar, but the other three Lucy knew. Brad, a true gentleman with the voice of an angel. She and Brad often competed to see who could sing the loudest during the campfire. Jessica, the girl who'd given Lucy her introduction tour to Camp Half-Blood, who'd been there longer despite how young she was. Jessica was even the one to introduce Lucy to Victoria, the former Aphrodite head counselor. And then there was Sabrina, another sister that she'd met only last summer. Sabrina was claimed midway through the summer, and Lucy was quick to tuck her under her wing. The younger girl had a knack for getting herself into trouble, and Lucy swooped in to the rescue, though not without getting something in return.

It began before Lucy could realize it was happening. She felt something warm slide down her cheek, tears gathering at the bottom of her chin. She hurried to wipe them away, but only succeeded in smearing her sleeve with blush. Oh no. I can't start crying now. Logically, she knew crying wouldn't do any good. She didn't care about them, not really. Then why did it hurt so much to hear? To hear Hank say they were gone and never coming back? That they were dead? "Oh Hank..." She whispered, only managing a nod to his statement about the shrouds. They would have to start on those after breakfast, she imagined. And then there were all the campers staying in Cabin 7 while it was the makeshift infirmary. "I... I have to go to the meeting still," Lucy admitted, using a napkin to dab away her never-ending tears. "I have something to tell the questers before they go, but I'll stay here. I promise."

"Of course." Death agreed, seeing the minister's point. There would be time for undead pawns yet, but for now, Malcolm had other, more mundane matters that required his attention. "Just say the word." Then came Eris, speaking once more from the depths of her proxy as though he were an extension of her being. Given the context, it's likely he was. If Malcolm were to disappear, Eris would lose her only pawn in the mortal world, which could very well spell her doom. Nicholas decided he'd create the man a relic, as a parting gift. "I haven't spoken to him since the last time we crossed paths." The horseman informed the other goddess. "I'm still pretty pissed at him after that, and call it a guess but I think he's been wisely keeping his distance. I'm a lot more powerful than I was before." He searched his being for an item to form into a relic, summoning a small bone from his pocket. "I haven't heard anything as of yet, so I think we're in the clear for now. But if we are using the Doors of Death, it won't be long before he finds out." Death admitted. "Khione's already brought this to my attention and I told her I'd take care of it. I have some choice words for him if he decides to show, Greek or otherwise."

"That's what you don't understand about the apocalypse, Eris." Death didn't look up from his task of infusing the avian bone with power, the spirits around the room flickering. "My role as a horseman puts me at the forefront of the devastation when Last Judgement begins. The seven seals aren't broken all at once, nor are all of the horsemen active from the beginning. It comes in waves, and when my time rolls around a fourth of the earth, and all the gods will lay bleeding at my feet." A brief look. "I serve as a pseudo general to the Antichrist, but the horseman and their domains serve only as warnings. The rapture doesn't come to pass until after each horseman has their cut and all seven seals are broken, but after that..." he faltered. "I'm not sure what happens to me. The natural state of things is not life, it's equilibrium, so I'd assume after rapture comes to pass and earth is destroyed, everything is created anew with those left. How exactly, I don't know. In my defense, I've only ever met angels, and none of them gave me a "becoming a horseman" brochure to explain any of this. All I know is that the apocalypse serves as cleansing when done correctly, so the world and everyone in it doesn't grow sickened and stale in body and soul. If there's nothing left, there's everything to be created. That's why the horseman are kept chained in Tartarus. If they're free before their seals are broken, then there's nothing left for a rapture. The same could apply here if we aren't careful."

[]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|Arena/Cabin 6|Tags:Emmie, open

Owl boy? he protested indignantly, then scoffed at her next comment. “Please, this is me we’re talking about. Everything I do is remarkable,” he said, only half joking. He didn’t notice Emmie’s angry glare in Reese’s direction, or the electricity that sparked from her balled fists, he was too preoccupied with his earring at the time. He barely caught a glimpse of her flushed face as she turned her back to him, but decided not to mention it, not wanting to embarrass her further.

“You know what, I think ‘owl boy’ is growing on me. Makes me sound wise.” He nodded with satisfaction. “Not sure I want to find out, if you turn into a mountain lion or something...no that’d be pretty cool. I look forward to our rematch.“ He nodded to her answer to the question, suddenly wondering whether he wanted to go back outside in the cold. However, realizing he’d have to go eventually, he smiled and raised a hand in farewell before making his way out of the arena.

He shivered as he stepped out into the cold, shoving his hands into his pockets. The meeting probably hadn’t started yet, he’d at least have time to head back to his cabin and fix his hair beforehand. He could only assume it was a mess after that battle, especially considering electricity had been involved. He trudged through the snow as quickly as he could, not wanting to linger in the chilly air. Once inside the Athena cabin, he crossed the room to his bunk where he had a small mirror pinned to the wall and checked his reflection, running his hands through his hair in an attempt to make the mess look stylish and intentional.

[]Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Outside cabins|tags:Aiden

Jamie perked up at the sound of Aiden’s voice, looking over with a smile. “Yeah, right. Me, being ready for anything ever? Unheard of.” He chuckled, shifting his grip on the backpack slung over one shoulder haphazardly. He nodded in response to Aiden’s confident statement, though he wasn’t sure how much he really believed him. “Are we sure this isn’t the end of the world? I mean...snow in June is pretty...that sounds like some kind of apocalypse to me.” He hadn’t meant to sound so dire, but he couldn’t help saying whatever popped into his head—the habit was both a blessing and a curse, depending on the circumstances.

Just a goddess and her temperamental daughter, he repeated, looking over at the son of Athena with an amused grin. “Gee, when you put it that way they don’t sound so bad.” He didn’t feel any les terrified about what was going to happen, and his conversation with his father had only served to shake him up more, but he couldn’t control his light, joking tone. He was never the type to laugh in the face of danger, but making bad jokes in the face of uncomfortableness and anxiety seemed to be his specialty.

He considered the other’s words for a moment. Would leaving New York really be so much worse? From his experience there were plenty of monsters and terrifying things around here—there was more than he would’ve liked to be around in the woods at camp alone, how much worse could it be outside of New York?

“I Iris messaged my dad,” he said finally, unsure why he was telling this to the other boy but wanting to say something. “He thinks I’m crazy for actually choosing to go...said I should just come home right now,” He chuckled, but his eyes betrayed how much he wished he could’ve taken up that offer. “He also wanted to know if we’re going to have any adult supervision on this quest...was kind of hard to explain to him that it’s not a field trip without making him even more worried so I just said yes.” He smiled sheepishly. He didn’t like lying to his dad, and he almost never did, but he also didn’t want him to worry more than he already was over this.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

caspia felt embarrassed as she got laughed at, "how can I concentrate, I've never been in a fish before!" she exclaimed, still swimming a bit anxiously. "chiron? who is chiron?" she questioned before being scooped up in the bag, this topped her list of strange things. "this is so humiliating." she groaned, wishing she could just curl up in her bed. "a hat? really." she deadpanned, feeling a bit cold as the water chilled. it was extremely weird to be inside of a goldfish, her range of motion was extremely limited along with her sight. "don't tell everyone!!" she yelled desperately, wishing to hide herself.

"I'm not going to leave, I'm not hungry anyways." dahlia responded, walking alongside him. she was curious to see where he was headed, besides she promised her sister to keep an eye on him. "who are you talking to?" she asked, feeling perplexed as she looked around. this was the usual forest where they'd play capture the flag, what was he looking for? why did he want her to leave? "I'm not gonna leave, I can help with whatever you're looking for." she spoke, dead set on figuring out what he was searching for.

delilah walked into the dining hall, glancing around at all of the campers. she grabbed a bagel from a table before looking where to sit, although she typically sat at the hypnos table she was looking for a specific girl. her heart raced slightly as she found her target, fumbling with her basket she took a bite out of her bagel. watching as mira spoke to the other campers, delilah didn't want to interrupt. swallowing her anxiety she walked over quietly, giving a wave to the others around. "hello mirabelle" she spoke kindly, the name rolling off of her tongue smoothly. taking another bite out of the bagel, calming her beating heart. the girl always made her nervous, unlike anyone could. "did you sleep well?" she questioned.

"wilfully ignorant," the throaty voice muttered. "when it comes to it, do you think he will impede? creating havoc in his realm, it does not seem destined to be a happy reunion." there were other whispers, other things that came to the back of malcolm's head that were not raised in the conversation. subconsciously, he wondered whether the goddess was keeping some of her cards close to her chest - and furthermore, whether this was going to be helpful or hindering. they were too far in the dark to grasp. even if he had wanted to clutch at the hidden information, a blockade formed, creating a feeling similar to lethologica. he knew it was there, just couldn't quite reach it.

his head inadvertently began to nod as nicholas explained. unclear whether this was a result of his consort taking true host or simply an automatic reaction, malcolm allowed it to take its course. it was doing no harm. in the corners of his vision, he watched the ghouls flicker. poor signal, maybe. "but you were released?" a quirk of the brow. "all horseman chained bar the pale rider. does that bode well for your plans?" true curiosity from the deity, it appeared. "you are correct - i lack understanding. i am unfamiliar with the tales of genesis, but there is knowledge in here." his hand moved to tap his own head. she was talking about malcolm. there was a burst of strange pride as a result. "in legend, you come with the breaking of the fourth seal. does that mean it is broken, or that you drifted out of your cage?"

she seemed to let up for a moment. "speaking of -" he said, his normal voice clearer now, if not a tad huskier. "is one of your spirits yeats? he had some choice words to say about you." a general wave at the shimmering figures. "did men create you, or was that artistic license?"

when dahlia asked who he was talking to, teilo's gaze automatically fell on the ghost, whose face seemed to contort with further confusion. "why can't she -" he trailed off. he was going to find out sooner or later.
he didn't answer, just crouched next to the snow pile. "it's not a whatever," he said, his voice gentle as he hiked his sleeve over his hands, using the rudimentary cover to shield his hands from the biting cold of the snow he began to scrape from the heap. "it's a who." sombre and definite. his efforts produced what he anticipated - a lock of hair, a cheekbone, and as he continued, a pallid, drained face framed by the otherwise untouched, ethereal snow.

"but that's - that's me," the shattered whisper came. "how can that be me? i'm here."
"i'm sorry," teilo sniffed. he wasn't sure if it was directed more at the spirit or at dahlia. "they only found seventeen bodies. this is eighteen." his voice was dull, empty of anticipated panic. not quite mournful, but morose. "i'm really - i'm really sorry."

the spirit flickered. left.

"you shouldn't have followed me," he muttered, beginning the slog of clearing the snow from the rest of him. he was gentle, slow in his movements - as if that mattered - though he felt like it did. he had had it drilled into him to respect the dead. speak well of them. even, annoyingly, if some of them still did a lot of talking for themselves.
he drifted his fingers over still-open eyes, closing them, then shirked his jacket to cover his face. he wasn't sure why he was doing it. it just felt like it was something that he had to do; for the sake of the daughter of nemesis behind him, maybe. "you can still leave, if it's -" too much? was that patronising? understating? "- not something you're used to."
yeah, that was much better. make yourself sound like a psychopath instead of risking sounding a bit rude.

She tried to talk with my.. uh goldfish group." She didn't mention her Hamilton-practicing goldfish troupe. "And she got stuck in James Madifish... Somehow. She can't get out! Chiron, what do we do?" The centaur stroked his beard. "Let's take her to the Big Hou- I mean, the Poseidon cabin. It won't be freezing in there." He led Hu to cabin 3, and Hu sat onto her bunk.

She didn't even double her skittle-popcorns, just chewed on a yellow piece of candy in stress. "Caspia, first you'll need to calm down. Then we can figure things out, alright? You'll be fine." The way he was saying it, Hu was scared that the centaur would bust into some breathing exercises.

Like any good admiral, Laika constantly had an arsenal nearby. Of course, the one in question when Orin walked in was an arsenal of sharp remarks, but it was an arsenal nonetheless. But Laika's mind was focused on the situation at hand.

"Sit down, you're going to give yourself a headache." Laika chided. She would have preferred to have called Orin a gerbil having jumped from a detailed bullet train, but it was a bit much.

She laughed softly when Orin mentioned using a phone as 'not allowed' Was he really going to worry about that when the world could be destroyed. Then he went into a ramble, a flurry of information coming out of his mouth. Laika's eyes narrowed when he handed her the battered phone, and Malcolm Kingston's face filled the screen, spilling proclamations of the hidden demigods. "I'd call him Minister Kingston if he weren't trying to kill us all, even if it is politically and in the face of the public." Laika hissed.

Listening intently to Malcolm's speech, Laika couldn't help feeling impressed by the man's oratory skills. He was cunning, that was for sure, and could spin literal myth into truth. Granted, whenever even Laika was mildly impressed by the enemy, it was a sure sign that the casualties would be beyond the expected. That wasn't a good omen, not at all.

Then Camp Jupiter was mentioned, and Laika's hand started to reach back to her pistol. A mere minister from an ocean away was leading soldiers to surround New Rome? It stirred a billowing hurricane of anger, but Laika quickly chilled it to cold anger. It would be better used that way.

"Now that we're on the matter of the attacks, have you heard the news of the massacre in Toronto? 37 killed, all with the same gash on their necks as the civilians in Chicago. What's strange is, this force, whatever's behind this, isn't aiming to actively target us. If it is working with Khione, it's doing a rather terrible job of it. No, I say it's deliberately causing chaos. It's keeping everyone on their toes, traveling haphazardly and slaughtering wherever it goes. But I assume that's not our most prominent threat. At the moment, of course."

Her eyes turned dark and stormy, and Spiffy immigrated to the other side of the cabin, sleeping, briefly escaping the terrors of the world around the tiny rabbit. "This Malcolm Kingston.. he isn't our average mortal. Trust me, you can't judge someone based on if they are mortal or half god - someday your life will depend on one, and you'll see. Kingston knows more than any amount of government corruption and gossip could have told him. The only way is if he has divine assistance. Or, at the very least, someone who is aware of the camps and the gods. Now I know what I'm about to say may sound indelicate, but either a demigod's turned traitor, or this Malcolm's got a rather powerful god on his side."

Laika could see Orin's rather obvious panic and extreme stress. It was a bit disquieting that he was being hit this hard just from a simple omen of death and doom, but Laika had to put that aside. "Orin Gorman, you are not allowed to pass out, die, or melt into a panic attack until after we get this sorted out. I need information. So don't you dare lose it right when you're needed." It was the closest to sympathy Laika would allow herself to show.

At Hank's words, Skylar was taken aback. She flinched back at the sudden questioning. He questioned whether she wasn't going to be here for her siblings and Skylar felt like her heart fell into her shoes. "Well, um, I don't know." But he was gone. Hank turned and walked over to the brazer with a half-hearted apology. Skylar was shocked, why was he so upset about the quest? She turned away and walked towards the edge of the Pavilion, gazing out into the snow. Hank had a point, though. Would she be abandoning her siblings when they needed her most? Would it be enough to try to get this over with quickly for them? She didn't think she was doing this for herself, she just wanted this dumb snow done with! And after the weakness in the forest maybe she needed to prove herself? Maybe she did have a motive. Maybe it would be better for someone else to go. Another one of her powerful siblings Skylar resolved to go to the meeting, share what knowledge she had, then try to not get involved too much in this quest. They probably wouldn't need her anyway.

Bay nodded, slightly embarrassed. "Oh! Um yes!" She shuffled around the Cabin and grabbed a few plates of pancakes and eggs. Then she rushed back over. "Here." She set the plates down a d grabbed a refilling goblet. She loved these things, all someone had to do was think about what drink they wanted and it was there. Plus, it never was empty. "Are you feeling alright this morning? Do you need some healing or ambrosia?" She fingered her dress as she looked at the boy.

Draco waited patiently by a tree waiting for Chiron's return with the Lieutenant Laika. He hummed quietly unsure of what to do.

Niji looked up at the Dryad.

"Thank you. And I'm feeling fine thank you for asking." Niji gave her a nervous smile.

"Would you like to sit down and eat with me? You've been up attending to the campers, but are you remebering to attend to yourself?" Niji asked her.

Sa'd shrugged.
"We don't have to worry about him because my uncle got wind of how he's treating the horses and Griffins and is putting the farm in my name. I just have to learn how to be a host before I get it."

"You act as if it's normal."
Set hummed.

"It's not normal, but my uncle talked about giving it to me for years, so it's a bit of common knowlege."
Sa'd explained.

"Not everyday it happens though."

"there was - there was something about that. but he's using it. he's using it to say that - that we're - we're dangerous, and -" orin's speech devolved into various syllables, barely able to be described as 'words'. "but he's a normal guy. that's what i don't - like, he - when i was home, we'd see news about him. and he was decent. he was - he was for scottish independence and he wanted to reunify ireland and - and it's not often you get a - a guy like that who just - everything slides off him. like, there was one guy a few years ago, he got absolutely destroyed 'cos of the way he ate a bacon sandwich and 'cos he spoke a bit weird. and now he's - now he's doing this, and i don't -" he shut his mouth, rubbed his face - jerked when his fingers pressed against the darkened skin of his temple. "and i watched that, and i believed him. if i was anyone else, i would've believed him."

"i'm not gonna pass out," he said, though he wasn't sure who he was fooling. to his credit, though, he took some time to catch his breath, realign his thoughts. "he's - it's not just the stuff about us. okay, we're in the public domain now. that's - there's nothing we can do about that. was bound to happen someday. but it was meant to happen on our terms. it was meant to be something we were prepared to do. and now he's taken the flag, and we'll never be able to have that again. he's - he's already won that front. and -" the next thought made his face screw up. "my family's in cork. and people know about me there. sort of. they know - they know some stuff. and if they see that, and they think i'm dangerous, they - what if they - my ma, and aisling, they're in danger."

fear; it's all around but weighs too much to slow you down

Aiden waved his hand dismissively. "Come on, really? Snow in June is very anti-apocalypse if you ask me. If Tartarus freezes over, maybe." The son of Athena brushed many of Jamie's concerns aside, and in the process, he buried his own. If they were jokes, neither of them could be afraid. Smile and laugh. Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid.

"Your dad?" Aiden echoed, casting a side glance at Jamie. "Oh boy, I bet that was a fun conversation." There were plenty of other campers that were probably Iris messaging their families about everything going on, he realized. He paused to hear Jamie's answer, but he failed to repress a snicker at the other's white lie. "If you count all the head counselors going, then you aren't wrong." Aiden shook his head. "Could you imagine if quests were like field trips? Like, imagine we were still going to face off against Khione, but instead of fighting her we just got a tour of her lair and went home. And then the snow stopped because all she wanted was some company." Now this had Aiden laughing; it was such a stupid concept, but what if that's the way things were? It'd be like going to a haunted house, a few cheap scares from a real goddess, and then it was over. If only things were that simple.

He led Jamie back up to the dining pavilion, glancing around to see if he could spot the centaur. "Chiron said we'd be having the quest meeting here, but he didn't exactly say when. So I'd say grab something if you're hungry before the Ares cabin gets there." As he spoke, the aforementioned god of war cabin made their way to the mess hall, shambling along with notably less liveliness. It seemed as though everyone in the camp was more muted than usual.

    ──── Nicholas Storm

"I think it's bound to happen, sooner rather than later." Death shook his head, managing a chuckle at his next thought. "Khione won't even say his name for fear he's listening. Yet she is the very same goddess who had Hera bound at Wolf House." In all honesty, Nicholas wasn't looking forward to the meeting. He had a plethora of things he wanted to say, but he was unsure if they would maintain their cohesiveness when the opportunity arose. He feared they'd flood together completely, which wouldn't present a very strong image. I'm a god now, aren't I? It's about time he started acting like one. The spirits around the room, at last, stopped flickering, but their appearances were notably muted. The bone resting in the horseman's palm looked unremarkable, but it possessed tremendous power nonetheless.

"I'm out, not released." Death corrected. "The Lamb has yet to break any of the seven seals, including the fourth to signal my calling. I'm present in the mortal world as a result of... gaining a vessel." He found it strange to be speaking with both Eris and Malcolm simultaneously. "If I hadn't been born, the horseman would still lie in wait with the others. When the fourth seal is broken, I would be released and take Thanatos as my host. But I'm here instead, escaped prematurely but not freed. My birth called to light a prophecy, which resulted in yours truly." He gestured to himself. "Death raised me but neglected to mention it. There is a reason why he was a virgin god." It sounded as though there was more to the situation besides a few hard feelings, but the horseman didn't pursue the line of thought, becoming distracted when Malcolm once again resurfaced from his depths.

Yeats. Nicholas pursed his lips in an attempt to recall who Malcolm was referring to. "The Irish poet." He recounted bluntly. "Some days I wish I were just another of man's constructs like the Pagans," a sigh. "I could fade in peace, you could have your apocalypse without me. Instead, I lie in wait alongside the rest of the world for the trumpets' call." Death stood and offered the created relic to the defense minister. "But I do believe I've taken up enough of your time, Mr. Kingston. Should you find yourself in need of a few spirits to keep your enemies at bay, this should suffice." He dropped the frail bone into his hands, retrieving his cane. He stepped towards the still dark corner of the room, the shadows growing ever longer as he prepared his departure. "Stay fresh, cheese bags." With that, Death was gone, the shadows spilling him out back at Mount Marcy. He recovered with a small pause. "Hold on, what did I just say to him?"
