I looked across the border into the cold, unloving, green eyes of my mate. Birdkit and Tawnykit stood beside me. I watched as my mate's eyes traveled to our two kits with love and grief. I almost felt sorry for her and how she couldn't see her kits every day. I saw her as every day she would see Bramblewind. She didn't tell Bramblewind that she was there but would watch him. I then left and brought the kits and heard Brokenwillow plead to not make them leave yet. But I did anyway and left her.
