Cass glanced in Juliet's direction but relaxed when she only put her pancake into the fire. Cass turned back to her breakfast and began to dig into her scrambled eggs and pancakes. She looked up when she heard Aggy's question "It's not really something you sign up for" Cass replied before continuing "It depends on the quest since if it has a prophecy to go along we can sometimes base who going on that" Cass said while twirling her fork into the air "typically you need to be an older camper but it's not completely unheard of for a newer camper to go on a quest" Cass stated as she stuck her fork into a bite of pancake munching on it and swallowing before continuing "I mean if you show interest in going, you'll be put into consideration ". Cass began to cut up more of her pancake trying to think of anything else she should add "Quests can be really dangerous though" she warned ",you and others might get killed" Cass' looked at Aggy with a serious expression making direct eye-contact with her, which Cass wouldn't normally bring up topics like this with a new camper but she wanted to make sure that Aggy was aware of all of the risks now rather than later.

teilo gave a little nod to the acknowledgement of his wellbeing, though wasn't sure that the concern was justified. the events of the day before seemed far away, unreachable. the big house was the only proof he had that it hadn't simply all been a fever dream - each spirit a piece of evidence that became harder and harder to ignore.
the truth was that he didn't feel much for it. not for lack of trying - he wanted to be distraught, to be thrown over and possessed by something that was reasonably congruent with the extent of the damages, but it seemed rather out of his depth. he had seen death. he knew death well. he knew the domino effects that occurred as a result, the tears, the heartache, and perhaps he could blame his father's influence for that, or perhaps his past with such tragedy. he simply did not feel at liberty to harbour any emotion toward it all. stoicism was a vice that he had tried extensively to rid himself of, and yet despite all odds, it remained.

his attention returned to the girls. "thank you," he said, taking the flower and examining it a tad before tucking it into the breast pocket of his shirt. when dahlia spoke and extended her hand, he took it, gave it a firm shake - one of the only acts of touch that he was comfortable with in casual situations. "it's dahlia, isn't it?" a bit of a guess, but a solid one nonetheless. another silent thanks toward the spirit who had whispered it.

"have you had breakfast?" he asked, aware of how strange smalltalk seemed. "i just woke up. slept the sleep of the dead." was that a joke? he wasn't quite sure. "mess hall's teeming. i thought i'd give it a miss for a while, just until the meeting."

it seemed the mention of ophelia had pushed her presence, as the promised camper appeared behind mira, tapping her shoulder, giving her little words that confirmed the preservation of her wellbeing. celeste smiled when her identity was sought, allowing mira's introduction to speak for itself for the most part. "that's me," she said, extending her hand across the table for a shake. "it's a pleasure to meet you." she said, a genuine comment. "i imagine we will be spending some time together in the coming days." or weeks, or years.
she hadn't even thought about what waited for her outside of the camp. was this station permanent? was it plausible for her to leave, with a face that had seen publicity over half a century ago? if she were to present her identification papers, she would surely be apprehended for some form of fraud. the thoughts crossed her mind, making her normally solid expression falter momentarily.

ophelia was not what she had expected, but that was nice. she liked to be surprised. with the rest of the cabinmates on the table being made-up, perfected to a fault, there was a 'ruggedness', hardness in the new face that she rather admired. her eyes drifted to the adornment on her wrist, noting that it caught the light. "i think we will get along swimmingly. i like your bracelet,"

Emerson "Emmie" Tags: Caleb Location: arena

Emerson sighed as he easily deflected the arrow. Time to rethink her strategy, she tossed aside her bow an quiver. Think Emmie, think fast she shifted into her fox form with haste and ran around him in circles charging up her body. Once she felt she had enough electricity stored she focused it all to her jaw hoping that when she'd bite him it'd shock him the same way her arrows would. She found an opening and leapt at him biting down on his calisthenics bouncing off quickly retreating back waiting for his reaction and counterattack. He probably expected wind manipulation to be her secondary power but nope, her father had gifted her with being able to shapeshift into a select few animals. She watched him with her tail swishing back and forth as she kept her eyes glued on him, hopefully she'd be able to kept hold of this form till the end of their match.

Aydan Tags: Ophelia, Mira, and Celeste Location: Dining Pavilion

Aydan looked solemnly at the empty Khione table then back at Ophelia and Mira talking to some camper in old fashioned clothing. He decided to let the girls talk for a few moments while he grabbed some food. He went over grabbed himself a bowl and loaded it up with yogurt before putting a handful of berries on top. He looked at the solitary Khione table once more before walking over to the Aphrodite table.

The table was crowed compared to his cabin's, which wasn't saying much, with the crowd came the noise. He cringed at the change in atmosphere, compared to Ophelia her half siblings were much more extroverted and boisterous. He didn't care for it but would much rather be in Mira and Ophelia's company than all by himself. He strode over to Ophelia with his bowl in hand. "Hey guys... could I join you? My table is a bit crowded. " he pointed to his bare table with a sad attempt at a joke. He used his free hand to rub the back of his neck awkwardly while flashing them a smile. He already regretted the joke and hoped the floor would swallow him whole to avoid the embarrassment.

Ash Tags: Sa'd Location: Dining Pavilion

"You're very lively aren't ya?" ash asked Set with a cheeky grin. Ash didn't expect anything less from a god of chaos. Ash thought about the answer to Sa'ds question. "I know a lot about gods from Greek and other types of mythology, I was always fascinated with them. I know Norse, Egyptian, Roman, and some Celtic." he answered with a smile. "I'ma bit of a geek when it comes to mythology. " he said rubbing the back of his neck. "When do you think this meeting will start?" he asked growing impatient. He wanted to know more about this quest he was supposed to go on and with who.

Draco waited patiently by a tree waiting for Chiron's return with the Lieutenant Laika. He hummed quietly unsure of what to do.

Niji frowned as he watched his friend's retreating form. He hoped he found his dog. His frown deepend when he realized he was stuck with the donut.
He glanced at the donut and a random camper walking past. They stopped the camper, who glanced at his hair. "Happy birthday have a donut." Niji said tiredly shoving the donut at the camper.
The camper took it and walked to a gr and up of people who immediately started whispering.

'Great.' He thought.
Niji glanced inside the Apollo cabin; it was plum full of campers and Niji definitely needed medical attention, so he walked into the cabin and curled up in a corner falling asleep almost as soon as he sat down.

"Oh that's cool. Do you know how the god of Knowlege's name in Greek?" Sa'd asked.

"You don't have to answer it. Please do not answer it." Set asked Ash.

Sa'd giggled and ate some more food to suppress their laughter.

"Oh what meeting? I wonder if it's about the Nomes? I think another magician got here first I saw a girl around somewhere she must have told Mr. Chiron. Hey do you think the Ares and Hermes cabin found our pranks?" Sa'd asked their mind running a mile a minute and the words flowing out of their mouth as fast of the Tiber river.

Hu smirked. Her sister was in the midst of an experience - she was discovering everything awesome about Camp Half Blood. "Drachmas are Greek coins. Basically your typical loonie or toonie, dollar coin. And sometimes they show up in the fountain, I assume it's dad's weekly allowance for us. You could always break into the camp store's register, mind you. But we've got a substantial amount for buying candy and movie tickets, I mean, buy toiletries from the camp store." Ling had doven into the fountain and came back up with a pile of Drachmas in her paw. An Iris message is basically a message sent through a rainbow, powered by the goddess of rainbows, Iris. The mist makes the rainbow, you see. Actually, you'll see tonight. It's new-camper-movie-night! We have a lot of movie nights." Hu said, in response to Caspia's question. Then came the part Hu was waiting for.

"Ah, we have reached the best part of the room. This tank, you see, is the home of the best fish in the world. They are very intelligent, but only eat potato wedges pieces for some reason. Don't ask, they just do. Even fries won't work." Hu laughed, and then started to point at the fish. The tank had all types of fish, freshwater and saltwater together, bonded by Poseidon's power. "This here is Alexander Hamilfish, that's Angelifish Schuyler, an angelfish, this guy is Thomas Jeffishon and his pal James Madifish. And look over here, this is Fishlip Schuyler and Fishlip Hamilton, that's John Laurenfish, Marquis de Lafishette, Hercules Mullifish, and George Washingmachinefish. And.." Hu continued on, introducing Fishron Burr, King George the Fish, Efisha Schuyler, John Adamsfishadministration, Samuel Seafishy, Charles Fishlee, George Fishcker, and Bob. "Seems like George Washingmachinefish and Thomas Jeffishon don't get along well, and Samuel Seafishy loves to steal the potato wedges pieces, so keep him away when feeding the others."

Done with her spiel, Hu plopped onto her bunk, tossing some Skittles into her mouth. "When you're ready, we'll go to the camp store and get you some toiletries. The strawberry shampoo is amazing, made with Camp Half Blood strawberries."

Zahra's lion form was a darker color than Laika's, and one blended into the yellowy glow cast by the sun, the other melted into the snow blanketing the camp.

Laika nodded at Zahra, and pelted down the slope, towards the dining pavilion. The snow sprayed from under her paws, and Laika had to try hard not to get snow into the face of her companion. Soon enough, they had reached where Chiron was standing.

With a meaningful flick of her tail and a glance, Laika beckoned Chiron to head off the dining pavilion. Two lions would be enough to send the whole camp into a flurry of terror if they saw her and Zahra.

Chiron eyed her, but not acknowledging Laika's true identity. He, like Laika, wasn't sure about Zahra's honesty. Chiron turned to the golden lioness standing beside Laika, and beckoned her to speak.

[] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|arena|tags:Reese

Auggie narrowed her eyes in response to her half-brothers grin, not about to let her guard down because of a friendly expression. It was possible she was taking this spar a little too seriously, but nobody ever got hurt from taking a fight too seriously. She’d show him for questioning her ability to fight with an injured arm.

She could still feel the blood dripping down her arm, though it seemed to be drying now, making for an uncomfortable cracking sensation. She ignored the feeling, along with the throbbing pain and weakened muscles and squared up in preparation for their spar, sword canted to the side slightly in a protective stance.

She nodded rather than spoke, to signify that she was ready. She studied him for a moment, eyes watching for any flicker of movement that would indicate his plans. He’d said he wanted to practice his geokinesis, that was fine with her, although her powers were essentially useless at the moment. It’s not like she could easily conjure up a blast of icy energy without serious repercussions on her mind and body. Then a thought struck her, the corner of her mouth twitching in the barest hint of an amused smile.

She lunged forward, light on her feet so she could change direction quickly. She feigned left and went right, casting out to collect a density of shadows as she did—creating a form to the left that was meant to catch Reese’s attention as she swung at him from the right. She used the flat of her blade, swinging with enough force that it would bruise if it made contact with his side. She was willing to rough the boy up a little, but she didn’t want him bleeding everywhere just yet. That was her job, apparently.

[]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|Arena|Tags:Emmie, mentions Auggie and Reese

Caleb watched with an amused half-smile on his face as Emmie seemed to rethink her initial idea. Of course, it made sense to use the weapon one was most familiar with, but in some circumstances that just wasn’t plausible. He opened his mouth to say something else—perhaps encouraging, perhaps taunting—when a flash of purple caught the corner of his eye.

His eyes cheated towards the entrance of the arena and found Auggie walking in with the son of Hades he’d spoken to yesterday. Were they going to spar? The younger boy hadn’t struck him as much of a fighter, knowing how aggressive the other girl could be he was probably going to get himself killed. Against his will, he found his eyes following the golden haired boy as they made their way across the arena.

He was drawn out of his moment of distraction by the form of a fox whipping around him in circles. His eyes widened in surprise, mouth falling open slightly. Was that the daughter of Zeus? She could turn into a fox? That hardly seemed fair. She hadn’t said anything about shapeshifting. Despite his slightly wounded ego and sudden disadvantage, he had to admit he was impressed. He barely had a moment to react to what was happening before the electrically charged fox was lunging towards him, biting down and sending a jolt through his leg that made him wince.

He stumbled backwards, shaking his head slowly as he locked eyes with the creature that had been a human girl just moments before. “That...” He pointed with the hand that gripped his dagger. “That is a cool trick. Could you teach me how to do that?” Hoping to distract her with his nonsensical rambling, he lunged forward, putting all his weight into throwing the silver shield, aiming for the fox’s feet.

“This is hardly fair,” He grumbled, looking at the dagger in his other hand then back at the fox. “You’re so cute now, I don’t wanna hurt you.”

please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

Jack "Reese" Dawson | 17 | Hades/Cabin 13 | Location: woods | tags: Auggie, (Caleb and Emmie /same building)

Reese watched Auggie closely, readying for her sudden movement. The blood on her sleeve was slowing, which was good for her, but very bad for him. Then she was moving, and his grin faded. There were two of her. He frowned. The ground to his right felt different, but there was clearly a form to his left. I see why they usually do this barefoot. He mused, regretting his choice to keep his shoes on.

He threw himself back, slashing at his left, but something grazed his right side. Trust your gut! He scolded himself, steeling his face at the pain. Channel it? It was more of a question, but it was his best option for now. He focused on the ground. And this is the part where you remember that the arena is groomed, idiot! He hissed, glancing around wildly as he remembered that the arena wouldn't have any rocks to work with.

His eyes widened as he realized that he was not about to test his geokinesis here. He held his blade up like a shield, knowing it wouldn't be much use. I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die. This was not the plan. Wait, something was off...

The ground was...trembling? Realization hit him, and his grin returned. He pulled the energy toward the spot just in front of him, where she'd have to cross if she wanted a hit on him. With any luck, she will try to cross it before I run out of energy...

Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Dining pavilion | tags: Aydan, Mira, Celeste |

Ophelia noticed Mira's sad looking eggs, but she knew there was no way the blonde would open up about what was bothering her out here. Instead, she turned to Celeste. World war 2...that explains the oufit. She thought, looking over Celeste with a smile. "And you as well," She said simply. "I think you'll like to know that it's a bit more than that," She said, tapping on the dragon fondly before the Khione boy came over, bearing a plate of food that reminded her just how hungry she was. That smells heavenly, she thought, taking in the scent of warm foods she didn't know the names of.

She watched him glance back to his table. So Aurora has a sense of humor? Interesting. "I'd usually say no, but Mr. D doesn't look to be in the admonishing mood today." She told him, peering over at the big table and one distraught looking wine god. Did he...lose a kid? She wondered, wrinking her nose as she tried to hone in on his feelings, sharp as they were.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Dining Pavilion | tags: Cass, Juliet

Aggy looked unperturbed at Cass' warning, but then she remembered the lake incident, the collapsing building. I'm not going if we have to face the impossible. "Great! where's this meeting being held?" She asked, turning her full attention to Cass and dropping her fork onto her plate with a clatter. This was not a time for eating, it was a time for action! She looked at Casd hungrily, barely registering when Juliet plopped down at the table. Mom would kill me, but she can't do that if I'm already dead!

Henry "Hank" Walker | 17 | He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: Dining Pavilion | tags: Izzy, Skylar

Izzy's tail flopped lazily at someone's approach, and Hank followed her gaze to Skylar. Hank smiled at his friend, but let that smile slip when she asked how he was doing. He looked toward the Apollo campers raiding the buffet contemplatively. "As well one can be." He swallowed, then turned back to the pale girl and lowered his voice. "We lost five. Most of them were going back and got...well, you know. " He paused, his thoughts going down the dark road of their deaths. Jess and Mary were down with the flu, but Brad was a healer. Carmen and Sabrina however... He shook his head and smiled sadly up at her. "I'm mostly concerned with the young ones. It's gonna be tough to explain to the shrouds to Mattie. Then there's this blasted quest..." He trailed off. "Well, how are you dealing?" He asked, taking in a bite of his food, though he couldn't really taste it. More to the brazers.

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Celeste, Ophelia, Aydan|

Mirabelle nodded in agreement with Ophelia's words, looking up to examine the newcomer. "You're Aydan, right?" She recognised him as the boy who had helped her cabinmate the night previous, when she had been flooded by the camp's grief. I wish I had time to teach her how to better shut it out before I have to leave. She knew there was no 'turning it off' as her friend and sister had put it the evening before, but there was a way to at least lessen the pain. Emotional barriers were finicky, however, and required a lot of concentration. Perhaps Celeste would be able to help in that department? At least it seemed like the two would get along. Mirabelle turned back to Aydan for the time being, offering him a welcoming and not entirely facetious smile. "Apart from last night, I don't think we've officially met. I'm Mirabelle, head counselor of the Aphrodite cabin." She held out a hand in his direction, expecting a handshake. "I am actually leaving later today, however - Ophelia's taking my position while I'm gone." Speaking of, I should really get on with my farewells... The long list of people she needed to say goodbye to was staggering. However, she didn't want to be rude by leaving in the middle of a conversation, and two of the very people she wanted to bid farewell to were already in her presence. She also wanted to make sure her cabin was in good hands. Mirabelle trusted Ophelia implicitly, but some of the stresses and duties of the job worried her. Keeping track of everyone, for instance. Alex still had yet to be seen, which only deeper confirmed her fears. I should let her know. She's going to find out sooner or later. "Oh, on that note - Ophelia." She turned to address her soon-to-be stand-in, unable to hide the concern that glimmered in her eyes. "I hate to get down to business so early, but I think you should know - Alex is missing. I've already notified Chiron. Well, Mr. D, but no doubt Chiron now knows as well." She spoke the words carefully, trying desperately not to betray the wealth of guilt roiling inside.

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Cass, Aggy|

Juliet absently listened to Cass' explanation, rapping her fingers on the table. She suddenly stopped, however, when Aggy asked where the meeting was being held. "Whoa whoa, hold up," the daughter of Hermes chimed in. "You can't actually be considering going on this crazy quest." She had already lost one cabinmate the previous night - she wasn't about to lose a friend as well. Not another one, at least. With Mira certainly going and Aggy seeming eager to follow suit, Juliet had to face the fact that she might not see either again.

||Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Cabin 2 --> Walking to the Dining Pavilion|Tags: Chiron; Open|

After a long discussion and explanation of what was happening in the Duat, silence fell upon the two.
"I can see that you are busy with your own problems," Zahra finally said. "But if you could spare some of your warriors, the Nomes would be in your debt."
"I doubt that this is unconnected from our problems," Chiron spoke thoughtfully, stroking his beard. "Needless to say, your issues are very concerning. To be facing beings on a primordial level, and eight all at once... I will see what I can do given the circumstances. It has not passed my notice that two of your magicians have arrived not long ago - perhaps start with them. Neither has revealed their purpose to me as of yet, but we have offered them shelter as we will with you, if you so need it."
"I thank you for your kindness, Effendi."
"There is no need for such formality, Zahra," the centaur smiled. "However, I do suggest that you begin with the two - they were able to pass through our barrier with little issue. As such, I suspect them to be in league with your gods. I was rather surprised by their arrival, especially given the lack of information they have disclosed thus far."
Zahra nodded, golden eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. "Where can I find these magicians?" she inquired. "They could be with the two gods who are missing from the battlefield. I had almost believed them to be consumed, but now... Yes. I will speak with them."
"The boy - S'ad, I believe their name is - was spotted by the dining pavilion not long ago. Jane... I have not seen her since her arrival last night."
"Thank you again," Zahra purred. "I will go to find them."

Emerson "Emmie" Tags: Caleb Location: arena

Ha was rambling, Emerson knew what he was trying to do. As he lunged she moved but the movement was a second too late and the shield tripped up her right back leg. She tumbled as she lost her footing, she quickly managed to get back on her feet. She opened her mouth as if to speak forgetting that she was currently a fox. Instead of words coming out an airy cackle of sorts escaped her in an almost taunting way.

She could feel her focus on keeping the fox form slipping. She leapt into the air quickly changing into her eagle form. Instead of attacking she went over to his shield picking it up with her talons and flying over to the boy Caleb had been staring at earlier, Reese, she believed was his name. She dropped the shiny shield at the boys feet before flying back over to Caleb.

Instead of wasting more energy and focus on staying in her eagle form she changed back to herself. "I mainly use those forms as a mean to spy but. They may prove useful in battle as well." she stated with a smirk. "Now that you have no defenses what are you going to do about these?" she questioned as she waved her hands in the air, sparks of electricity bouncing off here and there.

" It's Apollo, he's the God of knowledge and truth whereas Athena is the the Goddess of wisdom. I don't want to butcher his name in Greek though in cause he'd try to make ann example of me." Ash responded with an answer that hopefully satisfies both parties. Ash was surprised when the boy asked about the meeting, he though everyone knew about it. "Woah, woah, woah Hermes. Slow down, the meeting is about the upcoming quest... which sounded like a glorified snowball fight if you ask me but, that's besides the point. What prank?" Ash asked Sa'd, his curiosity peaking.

"it seems that my penchant for hidden weapons is at home here," celeste said as ophelia tapped the little dragon on her bracelet, making the assumption - rather boldly, to add - that that was the nature of her wearing. in a world full of so-called monsters and gods, it would have been foolish not to carry around something that would defend oneself. as time went on, it appeared that she was finding herself more at home in the camp than she would have anywhere else.

a boy approached with a plate piled high, making jokes about the solitude of his assigned table. she waited for introductions to pass through mira and him, and when the former's words became directed toward ophelia, she reached out for her own handshake. "aydan, is it?" she asked, pulling the name from the previous speech. "celeste." there was something that had entered the air between all of them, something that she could not yet quite place her finger on - but it was nostalgic in its own mysterious manner.

through the brief introduction, she could hear mira's words piercing through. someone was missing. it was of no matter to her in the bigger picture - in all reality, it should have meant nothing, but celeste felt her chest sink a little regardless. "should someone go searching?" she asked hesitantly. "to be stuck out in this cold -" it's a death wish.
perhaps best to leave that part out.
