outside
physical appearance
↳ xxxceleste is graceful in a way that begs belief. conventionally attractive, especially by her time's standards, oft compared to a doll or - as her nickname suggests - a siren. long, dark hair cascades and casts contrast to pale and unblemished skin, eyes a hazy mix of of blue and green, capturing and bright, usually seen with subtle notes of makeup to exacerbate these features. what would be noted by people of this time, though, is how vintage she looks. rarely seen without a vast greatcoat, especially in the cold weather, her style is of her era and refuses to bend to the chops and changes of recent fashion. she moves with confidence, doesn't seem to betray any expression that happens behind the mask, and gives off a generally intimidating aura. at five foot nine, she's slightly taller than average, with an excellent posture and air of regality that surrounds everything she does.
personality
↳ xxxit would appear, at first glance, that celeste is rather introverted, that she keeps to herself, but this is perhaps reductive of what is truly going on behind the scenes. she tends to take a backseat, to watch and listen before she asserts herself into conversation or interaction, and can come off as standoffish as a result of this. if this is something that she is aware of, celeste doesn't care. once barricades of ice and fire are broken down, she is rather soft at heart, protective of those that she deems worthy, happy to make a sly joke under her breath, and is often captured by moments of wonderment and awe, especially in this new world that she has found herself in. she doesn't like to be undermined by her peers, but when it comes from her enemy, it is revelled in. intelligent and aware of it, quick to judge and usually correct when it comes to it, but emotionally closed off and highly secretive.
inside
likes
↳ xxxella fitzgerald, fruit (any), quiet evenings, reading, combat
dislikes
↳ xxxwarm weather, the mortifying ideal of being known, loud noises, loutish men
fears
↳ xxxfailure, dogs
strengths
↳ xxxthere's not much that celeste can't do - she has impeccable aim, moves like a ballet dancer, knows her enemy well, and can fit into most any situation through a little, subtle switch in personality. she's got a multitude of languages under her belt, all of which she speaks with ease that would otherwise be seen in those who boast them as a mother tongue - these include french, her native, english, russian, german, italian, spanish, czech, dutch, and though she rarely gets the chance to use it - afrikaans. she has experience under her belt of high-stress situations, and knows herself wholly. her 'wiles', as they have been noted, are an aside to her more mortal skills, godly blood bolstering her human side rather than the other way around.
weaknesses
↳ xxxceleste has not got a clue about the demigod world, and though willing to learn, she can be skeptical at best and stubborn at worst. currently, she has no true control over her powers, not unless they were used in her daily life, and they can cause her great pain. she's very slow to trust and hard to get to open up. prone to episodes of depersonalisation and derealisation, she loses time often, and can get caught in a bit of a stupor if under heavy amounts of stress.
powers
charmspeak - advanced
↳ xxxshe doesn't really know how she does it, but celeste's always been very convincing. she would use these powers of influence to their full extent during her time as an espionage agent, and have been rooted in her since she was an infant. for the most part, she uses them for 'fun' - especially when not in the line of duty - notably using them at the lotus hotel and casino to get someone with a full house to fold while she had a dud hand.
emotion detection - intermediate
↳ xxxshe can sense strong feelings from other people - most of them pertaining to attraction, desire, and love. this is one of her more resented powers - due to her having no true training on how to control it, she experiences everything in its intensities, which causes exhaustion when around people who are experiencing rather more intense emotions.
desire manipulation - intermediate
↳ xxxa 'new' power, certainly, and not one that she is truly familiar with - she can alter the desires of a person to fit what she directs them unto. this does not extend further in use to anything but manipulating the wants of the soldiers that she led to the slaughter, though if trained, could certainly amount to much more.
virtuakinesis - beginner
↳ xxxunused thus far, but fitting for her name, celeste, with training, would be able to concoct hallucinations in her enemy. perhaps a gift from her mother as a result of the 'siren' alias, a bit of an inside joke on olympus, or just a case of good luck.
weapons
smith and wesson model ten
↳ xxx'never seen without it' is a bit of a stretch, for celeste's trusty pistol is always hidden in her coat, ready to be drawn at a moment's notice. as of now, it is filled with celestial bronze bullets to account for her change in enemy. she has excellent aim, and trusts it more than anything. she would not trade it in for the world. it has carried her through darkness and through light.
notable items
the briefcase
↳ xxxcarried with her from the hotel to the camp, celeste's briefcase has seen everything that she has seen. it contains all of her materials from her days in the SOE - weapons, for the most part, all shrouded in mundane items. the case itself is an incendiary bomb. if opened incorrectly, then it will trigger its explosion. inside lies a bottle of wine, also an explosive; a hairbrush, which contains money; a pen, doubling as a single-use pistol; another pen, which is just a normal pen; a chess set containing maps of france, america, and germany; a biscuit tin that is actually a radio, and contains no biscuits; a collection of documents, loose sheets of paper, and letters, and a collection of badges whose pins extend to four-inch blades. in essence, it is a vault of treasures, especially for those interested in history.
the song of the siren by orson harper
↳ xxxgiven to her by the satyr who brought her to camp, the book is a new addition to her collection. it contains a biography of her life, or what the author knew of it, and details of their correspondence over the years. it is not only a sign of the times but a sad reminder of all that she missed out on. it humiliates her somewhat to know that people in camp may have read it, may know who she is through the passages that feel all-too revealing, but she will treasure it in times to come, a tiny glimpse of what home used to be.
