The mention of ambrosia sounded nice. "They'll need it for the injured campers." Aiden disregarded the offer, pulling his quivering hands away. The motion of slipping them into his pockets was meant to hide his weakness. His tears had slower to quiet sniffling, his eyes as red and puffy as his nose. Aiden imagined refixing his facade would be difficult; Teilo saw through it and watched it shatter before his eyes. There wasn't any coming back from that, but that wouldn't stop the Athena camper from trying. "I have to be sorry," He teetered to his feet, the chill in the air combated by the anxious heat swelling in his core. "I've got to have someone to blame, and right now there isn't anyone besides myself." Slowly but surely, the Aiden the rest of camp knew was coming back to life. For the first time since the tragedy, he gazed upon the incident in all its morbid glory. "Eighteen." Eighteen corpses lay peacefully in the snow, laid out if they'd been resting. The sight felt surreal; while they looked peacefully asleep, the sight was contrasted by the specks of blood and debris clinging to their clothing and tainting the otherwise white snow.

Draco nodded quietly bracing himself for the pain.

"Thank ya both. Ah should be fine after its bandaged up and ah get some weight on it. Ah've been through a lot worse, so it's a'ight."

Draco wasn't sure where Mr. Dionysus or Chiron was, but with everyone but Liaka out of the big house he felt as if everyone deserved some knowlege as to why he was here. Maybe not all of it, but at least enough to piece together what he was doing.

Orin started to protest, but Laika shot him a meaningful glare, and he soon realized what she was getting at. Somehow or other, a camper had died, not to the house collapsing, but to some other treacherous fate.

Laika thought the situation couldn't get any worse, until she realized the basis of her survival was a miracle that had just gone out. Laurel finally succumbed to exhaustion, as expected, and a house fell onto the hunter and the son of Zeus. Granted, it was mostly flimsy wood, but gravity had it going in for them, as always.

Of course, she couldn't blame Laurel; holding the house up long enough to get everyone else out was an unimaginable feat. All at once, the beams began to creak, slowly at first and then quickly coming to a cresecendo, which resulted in a large amount of carved up trees dumped unceremoniously on their heads.

Orin chucked himself out the window, again. What was it with that kid and jumping out of windows? There was no time to ponder, as Laika heard more wood come crashing down behind her, coming fatally close. She turned into a lion and hurled herself out, twisting in the air to land on her feet. Between her cat instincts and Orin's air cushion, she managed not to severely damage her arm any further.

"That was a nice game of toying with death. I'm not playing again," she said, as she resumed human form. "Right. Lets go find this last camper. They seem to be up north, definitely not in the big house, or what's left of it, now that I think about it. Come on, let's go."

"you are an injured camper," teilo reminded him, voice remaining calm and still despite the whirlwind happening outside of their little bubble. he heard a crash - the collapse of the house, a thud of a body hitting the ground, and then a groan. someone had jumped out. he didn't look. didn't take his eyes off of aiden for fear that if he did, the son of athena would somehow slip away, disappear altogether.
which, in retrospect, was more of a risk that other people would have been taking in regards to teilo, considering his penchant for sudden and unprovoked invisibility, but he wiped the thought away.

"no, you don't," he said, standing in tandem to turn and take in the scene for all that it was. it looked like an oil painting - a scene from a film, not something that was happening to him here and now. "none of this was foreseeable. things happen." he pursed his lips. "when you snap a mast, it's time to get a set of oars or learn how to breathe underwater."

"they're glowing, you know," teilo said. and they were - each of them looked brighter than the living demigods who fretted around them. it was a sight to behold - he had seen bodies, been to funerals where the casket was loomingly open, but never had he seen them so new. a tear fell, rolling quickly down his cheek and hitting the snow, where it crystallised and became part of the barren landscape. "all of them. it's - i wish i could show you."

the fall hadn't been so bad. it had, in actuality, been quite exciting. a final bit of adrenaline before he landed, at a loss of grace and decorum, and then it just hurt.
orin wasn't sure whether it was the sudden shock of the snow that clung to his ruined shirt or the removal of the immediate threat, but the pains in his head became earthquakes where they had previously been tiny bits of terrestrial friction - and his back made him feel as though he had been kicked by a very angry horse.

and then laika was talking to him. he knew that she was talking to him, because she had that tone in her voice, the one that made him feel tiny, the one that made him feel like locking himself in a cupboard, but he could barely hear her. his ears were ringing from the sheer noise of the thing.
he caught something - an order, and he, in all of his carelessness for his own wellbeing, pushed himself to shaky feet and took slow, shaking steps forward. didn't reply, didn't come back with a witty retort, just walked.

it wasn't healthy. he knew that. it was dangerous. he hadn't felt this rough in a very long time - but he wanted to avoid the chiding words, the feeling of shame at falling before the final hurdle. even so, each step felt like he was wading through tar.
unavoidable. "i'm gonna... i'm gonna, um - have a little - you can - you can manage that. i'll just slow you down," he stammered out. "i'm just gonna lie down here. just for a minute. got a bit of a - a headache."

good of him to offer a warning, he thought, before his knees buckled. it was odd - even though he was collapsing against the icy grass, he made no effort to break his fall - just accepted it as fact when his cheek came down to kiss the floor, managing to let out garbled groans despite the muzzle that was his awkward positioning.

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Cabin 10|Tags: Ophelia|

Mirabelle hesitated at first, but eventually gave into Ophelia's request. She couldn't deny that she secretly longed for a comforting embrace, particularly in the given moment. She just felt so... vulnerable. The word left a bitter taste in her mouth. It was one of the many reasons she'd trained so hard to become such a fierce warrior; one of the reasons she armed herself with so many weapons. Not to mention the whole 'everything's fine; mask of sunshine and rainbows' thing.
But here, with just the two of them, she had let her guard down. She'd even allowed herself to be seen, for once. Sure, it was terrifying, knowing that someone had glimpsed her authentic, genuine self. Especially given her true feelings about herself. To the outside observer, she might seem confident and content with who she was. A look deeper inside - much, much deeper - would reveal the broken, twisted person she believed herself to be. The thought of someone getting that close was petrifying. But she found that being seen, really seen, was also strangely... comforting, in a way. With Ophelia, she could let go of the mask. She didn't have to be perfect - and that was okay.
Mirabelle returned Ophelia's embrace, sinking into the warmth and consolation. For once, she allowed herself to relish in just how wonderful it was to be cared for by someone. She wrapped her own arms around Ophelia, letting her head fall into the crook of the other girl's neck. Gods, it had been so long since she'd allowed herself to feel something so... good. Her eyes fluttered closed in her bliss, her previously shaky breathing calming to a slow, steady rhythm. Exhaustion threatened to overtake her, but she fought its tempting tides for now.
She would hold onto this peaceful moment, if only for a little longer.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Outside Big House|Tags: Auggie, Chuck, Cass|

Juliet cringed at being fussed over in front of Chuck and Auggie (especially Auggie), though her heart warmed at knowing just how much her older half-sister cared. "Yeah, I'm okay," she insisted, despite the fact that her shoulder was obviously not where it was supposed to be.
"...sorry I ran off like that," she grumbled, not meeting Cass' eyes. "Hearing about one of our cabinmates just... gone, it messed me up a bit. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't happen to anyone else." She paused momentarily, her gaze flickering back up to Cass' face. "Uh... might've dislocated my shoulder though," she admitted sheepishly. "Any chance you know someone who could pop it back into place or something?"

Juliet snorted, furrowing her brow. "As if I give a flying thunderbolt about my own reputation," she muttered, rolling her eyes. Nonetheless, she conceded, forcefully shoving the square of ambrosia back into one of Chuck's bags. "Fine, fine. If you don't wanna take it, go on right ahead. It's not my pride on the line if you keel over in front of all these campers." She shrugged, an action that soon caused her to wince and swear under her breath due to her probable dislocation. If Juliet had been closer friends with Auggie - or friends at all, for that matter - she certainly would've pushed further. But hey, it wasn't her fault if the Hades counselor wanted to make a fool out of herself.
Juliet nearly jumped when a thunderous crash sounded from behind her. She whipped around to look over her good shoulder, only to see the entire Big House in absolute ruin. Jeez, I hope everyone got out in time. She had no idea which Zeus camper had kept the house from collapsing as long as it had, but she was seriously in their debt.

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Outside Big House|Tags: Big House Gang, Juliet, Auggie, Cass|

Though Chuck didn't believe Auggie one bit about the whole 'not biting him' thing, at least she allowed him to dress her wound. He carefully wound the bandages around her arm, making sure it was nice and tight to help stop the bleeding. Not too tight, though - he didn't want to risk cutting off circulation to her lower arm.
"Like, I'd put more pressure on that, if I were you," he advised nervously. "Don't wanna like, bleed out or somethin."
Unlike Juliet, Chuck actually did jump when the building fully collapsed. He desperately hoped that there hadn't been anyone still inside. The satyr cast a glance around to see if everyone was safe, or at least, that there were no more casualties.
Through the descending darkness, Chuck could make out a few Hunters of Artemis cresting the hill, with a familiar centaur in tow. It didn't take an expert to guess that Chiron's facial expression looked very, very grim, though Chuck couldn't make out any defining features in the lack of proper light. Another figure materialised nearby to them; who the satyr could only assume was Mr. D.
"Alright, everyone listen up!" The wine god's voice boomed. Even Chuck could hear the trembling emotion in Mr. D's voice - a rare occurrence, to be sure. The last time he'd heard Mr. D this upset was when he'd lost one of his demigod children. Though the ill-tempered camp director acted as if he could care less about most of the campers and other residents, it was at moments like these that his true feelings became apparent. Heck, the guy hadn't even called everyone 'miserable brats' this time. If anything, that was a true testament to the actual depth of how shaken the god really was.
"Everyone, get the injured to the Apollo cabin. It will serve as a temporary infirmary until this crisis is resolved," Chiron commanded. "We can begin work on burial shrouds for the deceased tomorrow. For now, Mr. D and I will transport them somewhere safe." Spoken as if the departed campers were still alive. Chuck realised Chiron must've been taking this harder than he was letting on. "The rest of you, meet around the firepit at the centre of the cabins for campfire and announcements. Hephaestus campers and anyone with Pyrokinesis, dry out the logs and get the flames started. All head counselors who are present, please make sure your cabinmates are informed of this. There are some important announcements to be made, and all able-bodied campers should ideally be present. Anyone unable to attend the campfire meeting will be briefed in the morning."
If there was one thing to be said about Chiron, it was his ability to keep his head in a crisis. Chuck marveled at how strong and assured the centaur sounded. He couldn't even imagine what the guy was going through - after all, Chiron had lived in the Big House for much longer than Chuck even knew. To see your home get destroyed like that, all in one fell swoop - Chiron must've been devastated.

|Draco Eqquum-magno|19|Draft Centaur|He/him|Gay|The late Pan|Location: The bighouse|Tags: Roxanne|

Draco smiled at the girl.
Thank ya. Ah ahould be right as rain now. Why don't ya head on to the campfire? It must be really important." Draco said as if he didn't know what at least a piece of it was about. He was curious about what the older centaur had to say and how he kept his composure so well. It amazed Draco, but this wasn't the time to wonder about trivial things. Not with the tasks at hand.

Draco helped get nearby campers to the campfire since the injured were either getting taken care of or already was and once everyone was seated he walked over to the campfire himself and laid down beside a log his feet tucked neatly under him.

Draco hoped he would be able to get up relatively well; he didn't want to look stupid getting up.

Karter Zael | Hades | Tagging: Draco, Roxanne | Location: Camp

Karter raised an eyebrow. "Since when do you know medicine?" He asked, gaze sliding briefly towards Roxanne. Healing was HARDLY a part of being a child of Hades! He couldn’t deny he was a bit jealous. But when she said not for Draco to stand on his leg, the brunette blanked out. "What now? You expect him to just...stay here in the snow after all the recent...issues?" He asked indignantly. "We can help him get to campfire, where he can sit down properly and maybe get one of the Apollo campers to tend to his leg?"
