Was there a reason that wee have an extra New Year's pet this year in addition to the normal dogs?

Probably just that an artist decided they wanted to make a New Year's pet, and there was no reason to put it into a separate box on its own when you can just even out the odds accordlingly^^ We've had additional pets for new year's before, in January 2016 we got two deer and two dogs from the same box c:

The albino pets from 2017 were from a separate box, however^^
edit: partially ninja'd bc i was searching for the following link lol but yeah if anyone's curious, yes the deer did come from the dog box

Garbage fires aside, I'm really intrigued by these pups. The way the blanket is colored makes me think of my fursona, Queenie, with the sketchy look. If they end up looking the same way I may have to hoard them. ouo

They did get lighter!

My pups are still growing so they're still darker but that's interesting that they did change to get lighter. I wonder what that's about.
