houndtooth detected the sadness in her eyes. no, not sadness exactly, just a dimness. "anything wrong?" he asked softly. he knew he had a brutish exterior, but his voice had a tenderness underneath the calouses.

houndtooth watched as another, happy-looking tom bounce into the crowd. the deputy radiated positivity, and in a way it made houndtooth jealous. he was the resident grouch in breezeclan, but sometimes he wished he could be joyful incessantly. "my my, someone's in a good mood!" he purred good-naturedly "what clan are you from?"

"Faonpaw!" Bramblingpaw laughed brightly at the sight of ChessClan's medicine cat apprentice. It was the third time she'd seen the older she-cat, and to be frank? She missed her company. Faonpaw was like the reliable older sister, like Daisysong and Goldenmist back home, but much, much closer to her age.

The two former ElmClan cats sighted Tickstripe first, and the two seniors warriors were immediately at the younger tom's side. Fritillarytail coughed politely and meowed, "Hello there. Tickstripe of BearClan, correct?" Hailcloud added, smiling politely, "We didn't get to share much news before the Gathering ended last time, but I was wondering..."

"Have you ever heard of ElmClan, by any chance?"

The question was genuine. It finally clicked to him that Tickstripe had reminded him so much of the Clan he once had led.

Seabreeze purred, looking up at the moon shining above, "It feels so good to be coming here again. What do you think?" Her mate, Flaxmist, smiled and replied, his eyes open wide with wonder at the sight of so many cats, "In all my moons of traveling around as a rogue - even as a member of SeaClan! - I have never seen this many number of cats." Seabreeze laughed and mewed, her blue eyes twinkling with merriment, "Come on, it'll be fun! Let's go find some cats we can talk to!"

Morningstar sniffed the air gingerly as she approached the gathering. She had never seen this many cats in one place before. It was incredibly exciting, albeit a tad scary. In a burst of confidence, she padded over to the nearest cat. After a quick lick of her chest, flattening down a rogue fluff, Morningstar greeted the other cat.

Amberlight dipped her head respectfully as she approached a cat. She was used to talking to strange cats. This was natural for her. The cat she walked up to looked to be some sort of leader or deputy. Definitely a high-status cat.

"How's things?" She meowed to the cat, setting down on the grass.

Dogclaw looked directly into the DuckClan cat's eyes. He blinked slowly, showing that he was friendly, despite his very deep, gruff voice. He had a scary outer appearance that made it hard for him to make friends. But the gathering was a great opportunity.

briarstar hesitated than sat down where the other cat had gestured. “what’s a circus?” briarstar asked, very curious. she then answered the question, “snowclan has been doing very well. what about your.. circus?” but seriously what was a circus?

jinglenose smiled, “thanks.. it’s kinda nice there.. a lot of snow. the snow starts to fall in leaf-fall. it gets worse in leaf-bare, but it’s very pretty.”

scorchcry was unnerved and excited at the big gathering of cats. there was also a fear mixed into there somewhere, as the last time she had been to a gathering this large ended in disaster. that’s what had made her brother so cold and hardened. she wondered why he wasn’t here today. briarstar probably hadn’t invited him. he definitely would have made a fool of the clan, scorchcry decided.
she walked over to a cat - he seemed mad - and then mewed, “hello.”

the abrupt question made the tom flatten his ears. his brow furrowed as he tried to rack his brain for where he had heard that name before. suddenly, everything clicked. "y-yes, why, yes i do actually." he grinned "batfur used to tell us stories as kits about his time in elmclan and the journey to bearclan. at the time, quailthroat, his mate, was pregnant with my mother! elmstar is their daughter. she's our leader and she adopted me when i was just a kit! how do you know about them?"

"i'm winterwood. i'm the medicine cat of duckclan." they called him something else, the green magician, but he wasn't entirely sure about how he felt about the title just yet.

"gatherings are nice though. i get to, expand... comfort..." he forgot the phrase, stumbling over his words before finally finishing, "move out of my comfort zone. have you joined many? gatherings?"

Marlon's fur bristled as another molly bumped into him. He was going to have a stern talking to with Nyx and Nickel when they left this...this...awful gathering of sorts. Sudoku had briefed him on the general ranks and happenings inside a clan since she originally came from one, but he was still not used to being around many cats at his own home and now he was in a random place surrounded by strangers. "Chasmstar?" His gravelly voice was as flat as ever, "you must be a leader then."

Nyx forced herself to look away from Marlon. He could take care of himself; he did it for 30 moons before she met him. She shook herself to get those obtrusive thoughts out from her head. With another look back at Aether who was regally cleaning her paws, she continued forward to what could be classified as the front with more important cats quietly conversing in their own little groups. One of those cats was just arriving and Nyx hurried forward so she could also look like she belonged there. "Hello," She greeted the gray tom slightly out of breath, mostly from nerves, "This must where we're meeting tonight?" She hoped he wouldn't notice that she had no idea what was going on; clans and gatherings were foreign to her.

Derby only came to Websnout's shoulder but that didn't seem to bother them. "Sudoku said that clan cats had fancy double names," They continued on happily like the two had been best friends for years, "Though hers was Streamfur. Do you get to pick them or what?" They looked at the ground for a few seconds while Websnout stood taking them in, "I'd be Derbyracer if I could choose, I think." They nodded, coming to a conclusion of their slew of thoughts.

This time, the leader pushed through the crowd with her head held high. No more hiding; no more uncertainty. After the disaster otherwise known as her first Gathering, she was determined not to make that same mistake again. Silverstar settled down with a confident smile. She could do this.

He approached the most decent-looking feline near him and stated bluntly, "It never ceases to amaze me the number of cats who manage to squeeze themselves into a single clearing."

The young tomcat bounded through the sea of felines, his ears pulled slightly back in nervousness. It was his first Gathering and his efflux had immediately disappeared... unsurprisingly. Banjaxpaw despised Aldernight. The starcursed tom brought bad luck wherever he went regardless of rank and supposed importance.

In his momentary distraction, the torrent nearly walked into another cat. "Er, hi..." Banjaxpaw greeted uncertainly. Then, he recalled his manners. "Right. I'm Banjaxpaw. Who are you?"

The tomcat's pelt bristled as he pushed through the crowd. He didn't understand why he needed to be here. Yes, he acted as Silverstar's closest advisor, but surely the leader could do without him for a night? Apparently not.

"clementineflower..." she said, nodding slowly. coalstar had remembered seeing the small, orange flowers before and had always found them beautiful. a small smile spread across her face, "pretty name." she paused briefly before adding, "I'm the leader of lightclan. we're still... pretty new around here." she stopped herself from adding more and left it at that. after all, opening up wasn't something coalstar did well. even though the other molly seemed pretty friendly so far, she barely knew her. instead, she decided to shift the topic, "first gathering?"

he nodded slowly as the other tom spoke. "there's not many of us in lightclan, but it's alright. we'll grow." he said thoughtfully. it was true, as of now there were only four... five? other cats in the clan. thornstrike wasn't entirely sure. after all, he had barely gotten the chance to get to know them. he shifted himself to face marchsnow better and met his gaze. the poor tom seemed so anxious. "not really" he replied with a small shake of his head "this is my first gathering. I only joined a moon or so ago, this is all still pretty new to me."

grinning, she couldn't help but let out a light chuckle at the other molly's enthusiasm. collerettewink seemed like she was really nice, and seemed to match eggnog's own excitement, too. even though she had arrived not too long ago, she was enjoying her first gathering so much. it was nice seeing all of the different cats and clans, and the change of scenery was nice too! "is this your first gathering, too?" the she-cat asked, tilting her head slightly. "I'm still pretty new to clan life, I mean, I hadn't even heard of a gathering before this!"

the young molly's attention shifted to the other cat who had just approached her, sitting up straighter. the newcomer carried the familiar scent of herbs that swancry recognized almost immediately. of course. they were another medic, or medicine cat, in the other she-cay's case. she couldn't help but give a small smile, it was nice to know that there were other cats like her at the gathering. "I'm swancry. medic of lightclan." she had never been much of a talker, but there wasn't any harm in a small conversation. and the other molly seemed like she might be worth talking to. unfortunately, swancry wasn't the best at conversation, either. "it's... my first time here. a bit overwhelming, actually."
