Alex Burns|17|He/him| Aphrodite/Cabin 10| Location: Forest| Tags: Team 1, communications, Niji, Karter| mentions: open

"Do we put him in front so he doesn't fall off?" Alex asked, not paying attention to how this might hurt Karter's feelings. Now that he had a mount, Alex was much more excited for capture the flag, even in the snow. Riding with two others wouldn't be the best look, but it was better than looking like a lame duck trying to fumble through a snowdrift. He hugged tighter to Niji as Quicksilver shifted underneath them both. It was probably not his brightest idea to get on the giant beast, but it would be worth it for the look's on his sister's faces!

Meanwhile, on team 2...

Henry "Hank" Walker|17| He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: Forest |tags: Team 2, Guard team, Aydan, open | mentions:

"You did good!" Hank said, tugging Aydan's closest arm over his shoulder, and throwing one of his own arms across Aydan's back and under his other shoulder. "We'll get you some sleep, but we need to get out of here first" He said, eyeing the look of pure exhaustion on Aydan's face. We might have a death today anyway, the thought put fire his blood, despite the achingly cold air.

He lifted a hand and focused the light particles away from the snow and into a glowing ball 30 feet above their heads. It flickered as they moved, fading in and out as Hank struggled to focus on moving, helping Aydan, and keeping it lit, but it led them toward the medical tent. With any luck, it would draw the attention of the other campers. Hank would've used his voice too, but between the high winds and his focus on other things, it would've been long lost..
There was no sign of Izzy, and Hank could only hope that she'd found a warm place to hide.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Forest | tags: Team 2, Chaos team, Juliet, open | Mentions: Ares NPCs

The storm around them suddenly weakened, when just a minute earlier it had strengthened. An Ares camper looked in her direction and managed to spot her strikingly red hair. "Hey! I've found the menace!" He called out, before charging at her. Aggy froze for just a moment, then she hopped up and was on the move, looping the long way back to the snowman, the way that wouldn't expose Juliet too, as she fumbled with her blade, crashing through the snow. Luckily, it seemed to slow the camper behind her too, though it did nothing for his anger. "Get back here you little punk!" He called out.

Breathlessly, she managed to duck behind the snowman. She had no idea where the other camper was, but she had bigget issues. She pulled out her cutlass, almost stunned by the glow, before being rudely brought into the moment when a blade flew to her side. Seriously, he's not even going to have fun with it? She thought, deflecting the sword and throwing her body at his. Something about the sword drew her to it, and she reached out a hand to brush the pommel in the Ares' campers moment of surprise. Rapier, 42 inches, overworked in sharpening, weakness midshaft. Huh, must be the demigod, she thought, slamming her cutlass into his the base of his swordshaft as he came back to his senses, throwing his weight back at her. She gritted her teeth and shoved, hyperaware of the fact that he would run her through given the chance. A snowball would be nice about now Jewelweed! She thought.

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Team 2's Territory|Team 1|Tags: Open, Walking towards Juliet & Aggy|

Oh gods. Oh gods. Mirabelle couldn't feel her feet.
Despite her efforts to keep her blood flowing, tingling numbness had overtaken her body. Exhaustion weighed on her bones, threatening to crash down upon her like a great wave. It was all she could do to keep her eyes open, let alone slog through the snow.
The sounds of metal clashing against metal broke through the fog in Mirabelle's mind. Almost desperate at this point, the Aphrodite head counselor forced her way towards the sounds of combat. She stumbled, landing rather awkwardly on her ankle. It probably would've been mildly painful if she could feel anything at all. Gritting her teeth, she pushed herself up. Keep going. It was the only thing she could do. Blackness pulsed at the corners of her vision. Her head swam. No no no no no! Push through it. She had to. Not just for herself. For the camp. She blinked hard, shaking her head to clear the thick fog of exhaustion, but it wasn't helping. Keep going - keep going - keep... The ground went sideways in her vision.
This time, when Mirabelle stumbled, she didn't get back up again.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Forest|Team 2|Tags: Aggy, Team 1 NPCs, Open|

As the Ares campers continued to fight amongst themselves, Juliet finished off the last of her snowball arsenal. Man, this is just priceless, she mentally remarked, stifling a giggle with a gloved hand. With the Ares campers distracted, now was the time to make a move. Sure, an angry Ares kid was a dangerous Ares kid - but Juliet had counted on this. Though the weather was getting more hazardous by the minute, she couldn't help but grin. The blinding snow provided the perfect cover for her to strike from the shadows, and dart back before she could be seen.
Amidst the sounds of fighting, Juliet slipped from her hiding place and snuck into the fray. She narrowly dodged as a spear came hurtling towards her. Phew. That was close. Holding her dagger in a reverse grip, the daughter of Hermes slashed at anyone she got close enough to. Insults flew like a hail of arrows around her. As she skidded out of the way of a tussling duo of campers, a loud "Let go of me, you dumb - WHAT IN OLYMPUS!?" followed by a loud shriek caught her attention. Lightning-quick, she whipped around to see what had caused such a startling reaction.
"What the -?"
The snowman.
It was moving. And it was angry.
A good deal of the Ares campers charged the now-animate snowman, bellowing war cries of various intensity. Juliet, however, did exactly the opposite. Get Aggy and get out. If those Ares kids were dumb enough to take on that thing, it was their funeral.
Now Juliet was having serious regrets about arming the snowman with a sword.
Find Aggy - find Aggy and get out. Through the raging blizzard, she could make out a few blurred silhouettes. She ran through the snow, scanning each one for Aggy's petite frame. There! She spotted her engaged in combat with a particularly beefy camper. Thinking quickly, Juliet bent down and started forming a snowball. She would've thrown her dagger, but it wasn't exactly balanced for that. Her hazel eyes narrowed, locked on the larger figure as she took aim. Now or never. She lobbed the snowball at the hulking brute, aiming right for his oafish head. She didn't even wait to see if the icy projectile hit before she began frantically signaling to Aggy, waving her arms up and down wildly.

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Medical Tent|Tags: Aiden, Jamie, Tielo|

"Uh - right! Weapons," Chuck bleated nervously. His heart pounded in his chest as he frantically searched for anything that could be used as a weapon. Medical supplies went flying in Chuck's hurried search, bandages bouncing around the tarped floor. He couldn't find a single celestial bronze item in the place. That being said, the medical tent had never really needed to defend against anything before. His fingers thrummed against his thigh nervously, but were met with something decidedly un-clothing like - the smooth texture of his reed pipes. Like, the reed pipes! Chuck quickly unfastened them from his side, raising them to his lips with trembling hands. He nearly dropped the pipes a few times, but managed to get them to his face in once piece.
Vines burst through the earth as he played a rather shaky rendition of 'Another Brick in the Wall', snaring themselves around anything they could grasp onto. Oops. The satyr realised a bit too late that they most likely wouldn't find purchase on the storm spirit. Demigods, however... that was a different story.

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Flying Over the Woods at Camp Half-Blood|Tags: Ayden (mentioned), Open|

Vivienne and Khione were steadily whipping the cold winds into quite the deadly storm. Through the clouds, the daughter of the snow goddess could see that Ayden had calmed the smaller vortex of cold weather he had created. Tsk. Young demigods. No control over their powers. She had once been like that herself, but that didn't stop her from having judgmental thoughts. With any luck, the blizzard venti were on the attack. She knew from experience that they could provide quite a challenge to kill - after all, she'd trained against them quite regularly under Khione's instruction.

Niji Sakura Budōnoki • 17 • (he/they) • Homosexual • Dionysus • Location: forest• Tags: Alex, Karter, team 1

"You want to ride with us Karter? I know you said something about being on the ground and I'm not sure which you'd perfer." Niji admitted. It didn't matter to him either way the mare could gallop with a two person sled attached pretty easily, so another person that couldn't weigh over 90 pounds would be nothing to her. It was just a matter if Karter wanted to get on her and honestly if he could he was really short and Niji honestly wasn't sure if the short boy could reach Quicksilver's saddle.

Quicksilver looked around a bit impatiently, so Niji stroked her neck and gave her a kiss on her poll.
Niji chuckled a little as he felt Alex hug him tighter.
"It's alright Alex she's just shifting her weight. Nothing to it you aren't going anywhere."
Niji remembered his first time on a horse knowing the feeling of momentary fright at a horse suddenly shifting their weight and the wonder if you would fall. Of course horses of any breed were to big and muscular to fall just from a shifting of their weight, but there was always that fear.

Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Forest | tags: Team 1/ Flag guard (real), Aphrodite, Izzy, open! | Mentions: Teilo

The sound of a chuckle came from inside her head, and Ophelia knew she was going insane. 'Oh darling, your sanity was never in question' a women's voice sounded, still in her head. She frowned, blinking a few times to see if she could still make out the flag.

You wouldn't say that if you saw me a few minutes ago, she argued, reasoning that it was probably just her conscience, manifested from the Teilo situation. Is he okay? She wondered, chewing the inside of her cheek in thought.

This time, the voice sounded exasperated. 'That's what makes you human.' What a lovely thought. It will be the death of me. She retorted, still sour. 'The boy is fine. His time is yet to come. But I do appreciate the sentiment.' The voice seemed to be smiling. It's amusement was on Opehlia's nerves. That's great. I'm here a year and this is how I finally meet you? She growled back. It was either her mother, or some imitation of her.
'It's easier to make contact when you show some love for your fellow humans'
Ophelia stiffened. I just didn't want him to die, do you think I'm heartless? No response came.

What did come was a spotted dog, clad in leather armour. It barked at her, but for once didn't seem to want to do more. Did that idiot die or something? She wondered of it's owner (Hank). She glanced up and noticed a flickering light, moving away and becoming fainter, but still visible. What on Olympus? She wondered, staring at it with a wrinkled brow.

Meanwhile, on team 2...

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Forest | tags: Team 2, Chaos team, Juliet, open | Mentions: Ares NPCs

Oh no you don't! Aggy thought as he pulled against her with his brute strength throwing her blade off course. A snowball whizzed by, brushing her shoulder, but she she ignored it.
Suddenly he seemed to be wary of something behind her. Huh, that's odd. She stopped pushing and ducked out of the way of his oncoming blade, which crashed into the snow to her right. Using the instant of confusion to stomp on the rapier's weak spot with a boot, snapping it in half, "You idiot!" He roared, but seemed to be very concerned with something behind her, oddly enough.

It was then that she noticed Juliet, frantically waving for her. Huh, I wonder what's up with her? She thought, ducking around the Ares' camper, who was intensely focused on... Something, it didn't really matter what. She reached Juliet a grin spreading across her face. "That was wild!" She said breathlessly, her exhales making puffs of moisture* in the cold air.

Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|medic tent|tags:Teilo, Chuck, Aiden|Team 1
Jamie shrugged in response to Aiden’s exasperated cry when he handed him the celestial bronze paintbrush. Technically it was a knife, but he didn’t know how to turn it back and they didn’t exactly have time to figure that out right now. Part of him wondered what would happen if it never turned back to its original form, if his mother had suddenly decided a coward like him didn’t deserve such a beautiful weapon and turned it into something more suited for him. He shook the thought away before it could consume him, he barely had time to think anyways before Aiden started shouting orders. He nodded in response. Running again. That seemed to be the only thing he was good for.

He braced himself as the others prepared to attack, shooting a concerned glance in Teilo’s direction. The guy had literally just died and come back to life, and now he had his scythe out and was ready for battle? He opened his mouth to say something but didn’t have time to question it as the head Athena counsellor shouted and lunged forward. He had to go. He ducked out the tent entrance as far to the side as he could, hoping to avoid the venti altogether. He didn’t quite make it out unscathed, one of the spirits lashing spikes of ice caught him in the side of the face and he stumbled slightly, clutching a hand to his cheek. He couldn’t stop moving. He may be running like a coward again but this time his campmates were counting on him to run like a coward and to do it fast. He shot off into the snow, wondering how he’d find Chiron when he could barely see a few feet in front of his face, but hoping he’d locate the centaur before anyone else got hurt.

Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Forest, Zeus’ fist|tags:CTF group, Orin, Maria|Team 2
Auggie didn’t see when the storm spirit was obliterated. The force of her powers had sent her sprawling to the ground and she had stayed there. Her breath was coming in short, shaky gasps and her hands were over her tightly shut eyes. With the amount of negative emotions she’d had to channel just to use her ice powers for that one brief second, she was worried that uncovering her face would reveal more weakness than she was willing to share. She didn’t look up until she heard Orin’s voice next to her, and then she hoped he wouldn’t notice the glossiness on her eyes. She blinked a few times, her eyes shifting to the space behind him where the storm spirit had just been, then back to the boy next to her. They’d actually done it. They’d defeated the storm spirit and they hadn’t died. And she hadn’t killed Orin beforehand which seemed like a miracle in itself. Her eyes drifted to the burn on his shoulder, the burn that she had caused and she cringed slightly, gritting her teeth. She hadn’t meant to do that, but she wasn’t sure Orin would believe her if she told him that.

Any anger she had felt towards him before was gone, she knew that she’d overreacted, let her stress and anger get the better of her. He was acting like she’d done something impressive, but there was no way she could have defeated the spirit without his powers. She would’ve been dead before the battle had even started, worn out from the petty feud she’d started earlier. He warned her before he hugged her, but she still wasn’t prepared for that. Her breath hitched slightly and her whole body stiffened. Under normal circumstances, she may have punched him again, but she was too tired and her brain was too foggy from the battle to put up her usual cold front. She didn’t want to fight anymore. She leaned into him slightly, though she would’ve blamed that on exhaustion and the fact that he was pulling her in so tightly, she hugged him back. Her breath was still shaky and she was starting to feel the cold. She hadn’t noticed the frost melting from her hands, but all traces of it were gone now.

You were my opponent. You were never my enemy. She supposed that was a pretty crucial difference, one she had ignored in her eagerness for a fight. Orin was a lot less irritating now, a lot less loud and obnoxious than she’d first pegged him to be and she thought maybe she’d been a little too quick to judge him. She laughed at his next words in spite of herself, and despite the fact that she tried to hold it in. But as soon as he pulled away the mask was back on, she turned her head to avoid his gaze and leaned away slightly. “I’m fine, I can stand. I’m fine.” She said, a little too quickly. She pushed herself to her feet with a little more speed than was necessary, determined not to show any more weakness. As soon as she was upright her head spun and she staggered, nearly falling to the ground again but she managed to keep her balance. She blinked slowly before turning around to face Orin. “I’m...” She hesitated, looking as if the words were difficult for her to say. “I’m sorry I tried to kill you.”

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

orin was thankful that he was hugged back rather than lurched away from and slapped. it would have been a tad awkward - but as she seemed to warm, literally and figuratively, and their immediate danger was complete, it was a thankful respite from the stress. he was exhausted himself - all of his muscles aching and screaming at being thrown about and strained - but that was a problem for another time.

when she laughed, it brought a smile to his face. that was the aim - that had always been the aim. with all of his vigour and flippance, the aim had always been to create a lighter atmosphere for people who were otherwise very caught up in a life that demanded constant seriousness. of course, sometimes he went too far - sometimes it twisted, became something different, something that was sometimes malicious - something like this had been only minutes ago.
auggie stood and staggered, and, in time, so did he. "right. we need to... back to camp. get any stragglers with us. people are too scattered right now. recipe for disaster." orin thought aloud. "if we get back before everyone, we set up a makeshift med tent in one of the cabins. could pray to hera, see if she'd be okay with us using hers as a safe spot without impeding on anyone's space..." the thought came, and with it, a quick realisation. he was a child of zeus. she wasn't going to take anything he said seriously, was she?

he was interrupted in his mutterings by an apology. he rose his eyebrows, nodded slowly. "is that what you were trying to do? i thought we were just mucking about. god, i have to get better at reading cues like that. it's gonna get me in a lot of trouble one day." he let the joke come, but quickly his face became one of solemn seriousness. "like i said. forgiven. always and completely." the words settled like the disturbed snow in the air. he offered an arm out to her. "you said you're fine, and i'm not saying i don't completely believe you. i do! it's just... i might get a bit stumbly." he said. "i'll end up looking like a newborn giraffe. all... flimsy legs."

he wondered what the other campers were up to out there. the wave of dread that he had been trying to surf over was crashing on the shores of his mind. everything had only just begun. the crests only got higher from here.

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Unconscious in Team 2's Territory|Team 1|Tags: Open|

12-year-old Mirabelle was standing on the edge of a sea of campers gathered around the campfire. Through the mass of solemn shapes, she could make out the shape of a human-sized bundle swathed in indigo being lowered into the flames. Clouds blotted out the picturesque sky and snow swirled from above. "This is all your fault!" The heart-wrenching scream echoed across the amphitheater. Mirabelle could see Chiron start to gently approach someone she couldn't make out among the crowd.
"No - Vivienne, you don't under-"
He was cut off by another screeching rebuke. "I don't WHAT!? Were you going to say that I don't UNDERSTAND!?" The girl named Vivienne spat. "I don't understand what, Chiron? That my best friend is DEAD!? That she was killed during a STUPID, MEANINGLESS GAME!? THAT WHOEVER IT WAS WON'T ADMIT WHAT THEY'VE DONE!?" Her voice rose in pitch and volume. Mirabelle could feel the girl's anguish from where she stood. She hadn't necessarily had great control over her abilities in her youth... her amokinesis had her feeling every one of the intense emotions battling inside the girl. It felt as if someone had driven a lead spike though her heart, filled her lungs with saltwater, and then churned that water up into a maelstrom of intolerable pain and suffering.
A cold wind swirled through the camp, cutting though her pastel clothes. Mirabelle looked up to see that the snow was falling down harder by the minute. Some campers had their weapons drawn, while others looked on with stunned expressions.
"YOU'RE ALL TO BLAME!" Vivienne screamed. The wind churned around the campers, whipping Mirabelle's hair out of her face. She hurriedly pulled her golden locks back over the right side of her face, holding them there with a balled fist as if they would protect her from the onslaught of winter weather.
"ALL OF YOU!" Now, Mirabelle could make out the girl producing the frigid gale. It was a dark-haired girl with the post piercing, pain-filled gaze that she had ever seen. The girl - Vivienne, she figured from what Chiron had said - glared across the mass of demigods. Her ice blue eyes sparkled dangerously, and her face was wet with tears. She only looked to be about a year older than Mirabelle.
Mirabelle vaguely recognised her as belonging to Khione's cabin, but didn't really know more than that. This was years before the social butterfly within her spread its wings, after all.
"YOU'LL ALL PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!"
The words echoed in Mirabelle's mind, even as the dreamscape shimmered and shifted before her eyes.

"Yeah, wild is the right word for it, alright!" Juliet exclaimed, though her usually relaxed tone was breathy with fear. "So, uh, remember that decoy snowman I made? Turns out it's less of a decoy and more of a 'monster-trying-to-kill-us'-oy." She had to raise her voice to be heard above the howling winds, but she didn't care at the moment. "Some of those battle-crazed Ares guys are trying to take that thing on! If you wanna go get yourself killed with them, that's your choice - but I'm gonna put as much distance between evil Olaf and I as I can. Maybe even try to find Chiron; get this whole thing put on ice for the time being." Even in such a serious situation, she couldn't help throwing in a bit of humour to cut the mood. "I love Capture the Flag as much as those meatheads over there -" she pointed to the silhouetted group of Ares campers attacking the animate snowman "- but no one's gonna win this game if this crazy storm and monster attacks keep up!"

Aiden 033

Postby Kveykva » Sun Dec 27, 2020 5:47 am

    ──── Aiden Seaver
】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | Medical Tent | Tags: Chuck, Jamie, Teilo
𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜
"Less talky, more stabby!" Aiden shut down Teilo's criticisms hastily. If all he was given was a paintbrush, he'd have to make do. It was celestial bronze and that was enough for him. Teilo's divine blood put in the work to keep the teen on his toes, and he sprung to action at a moment's notice. His first attack landed: that was a step in the right direction. The venti took the blow better than one hoped, and shook it off quickly. Now that the three of them were out in the open, he took a moment to strategize. Fighting without any armor posed a challenge; both boys would need to keep the monster at arm's length. Aiden had his shield, but he'd have to get close to deal any damage with the brush. Teilo had his scythe, but it looked about as unwieldy as its size indicated.

"I'm fine." he breathed, wiping blood from his cheek with his jacket sleeve. "We have to lure it away from the tent, there's still gonna be campers coming here for treatment. Especially if there's more of these things lurking about." Aiden added, unwittingly reading the other's mind. "Use that scythe of yours to keep distance between you and it. That thing's claws will shred you without any armor." The tune of reed pipes filled the air, and Aiden could have leapt for joy. Chuck's nature song coaxed fleshy vines from the earth, grappling whatever they could get their hands on. Instead of joy, the demigod jumped out of the path of a twisting vine.

"Chuck!" he swore loudly. The vines didn't affect the storm spirit, so it left the demigods' near cornered in their maze. The venti didn't let up, using Aiden's momentary distraction to mount a counterattack. Between dodging vines and shielding himself from attacks, he could hardly stay on his feet. As he wove deeper and deeper into the satyr's nature magic, the Athena camper concocted a plan. I'm small enough, and something tells me storm spirits have the object permanence of a two-year old. All of Aiden's ducking and weaving was dizzying to watch, especially from the outside, but before long he stood in the upper parts of the vines, bracing his shield in from of him. The venti appeared lost in the foliage. "Teilo!" He called. "Get ready!" Aiden didn't give any further explanation, and without hesitation, he jumped, shield down, and body slammed the monster, stabbing it vigorously with the paintbrush.

Re: Camp Half-Blood: Into the Storm - Open & Accepting!

As Jamie started running, he had to fight the urge to look back over his shoulder at the fight he had once again run away from. He had to believe that the others would be okay—despite the fact that he’d given Aiden a paintbrush to defend himself with. Unlike many of the other campers, Jamie had never been angry with his godly parent. He’d never cursed her or wondered why she wasn’t around or gotten upset at her for giving him this life. His father had always spoken so highly of her and at this point he’d just accepted that he was what he was. But he had to admit, the paintbrush trick was a little bit frustrating. He hoped Aiden would either figure out how to turn it back into a knife or...somehow use the brush to his advantage.

As he broke out from the edge of the forest, his eyes scanned the snow covered field for any sign of Chiron. His gaze landed on the centaur, observing from a little ways away. He was surprised the game hadn’t been called off already, but with the amount of snow flurrying through the air it was likely Chiron didn’t even know what was going on. He stumbled across the snow, shouting to get the centaurs attention, then spoke as soon as he was close enough to hear. “Venti...in the woods...” He panted, still gasping for breath after his run and the panic experienced at the medic tent. “Teilo almost died. Have to...have to call off the game.”

Chiron listened to Jamie’s words and without hesitation, blew the hunting horn at his side to signify the end of the game, to signal to all the campers that they were to come back in. After making sure Jamie was alright, Chiron unslung the bow from his back and rushed off into the forest to offer help wherever it was needed.

Auggie considered his words and realized that he was right, everyone would be scattered throughout the forest because of capture the flag. Deadly storm spirits weren’t usually something hidden in the forest to attack unsuspecting campers, and if one had broken through the protective barrier, there was certainly more. They’d been lucky to defeat one with the combined force of their powers, but there could still be countless others out there and the other campers could still be fighting them. She narrowed her eyes slightly at Orin’s suggestion. It wasn’t bad suggestion, and she hadn’t had much experience with Hera, but from what she did know she figured the goddess probably wouldn’t be too happy with them using her honorary cabin as a medical tent.

She gave Orin a half-hearted glare when he offered his arm, but after a brief hesitation she took it. They were both weakened and exhausted; if one of them fell it was likely they both would, but at least she could blame it on him. “You already look a bit like a giraffe,” She muttered in response. “And we’re probably both gonna end up with a face full of snow but let’s go.”

She started to head towards the cabins and then paused, hesitating for a moment as her eyes looked out into the trees. “What about the others? A makeshift med tent isn’t going to help them if they’re all being killed by storm spirits.” She looked over at Orin, her expression back to it’s usual hardened glare, her eyes alight with the determination to fight everyone and everything in her path, no matter how broken or beaten up she was.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

the words were enough to shut teilo up for the time being - though in his head, there were slurries of complaints falling in their thousands. capture the flag seemed like a very dangerous game, as was becoming clear, and he wondered what exactly was keeping the damned thing going.

he swung and hit. that was good. it wasn't exactly precise, mind, but a voice in the back of his head pushed him further. a fire had been lit underneath his feet, it seemed, and all of a sudden, all he could feel was the air around him - everything was moving in slow motion. he nodded at the order, extending his arm fully to do just as he was told. the scythe was long - its distance was a plus. "i don't know about you, but i'm not dying again today. it was really inconvenient." he spluttered.
teilo's head turned to the sound of the pipes, almost chuckling at the sudden and uncalled for rendition of pink floyd - until vines sprung from the earth, grappling for his feet. in attempting to escape their writhing terror, he hopped and skipped, as though dancing. aiden had already shouted his discontent. he supposed there was no need to add to it. still, it was another complaint to add to the list.

the son of athena appeared to be concocting a plan. teilo was watching it happen, cogs turning behind grey eyes, and hoped, for both of their sakes, that it would work. as he skirted around the frenzied plants, luring the thing out of the way of the tent, he waited for his call.
it came. with no other explanation.

when aiden jumped, teilo took the opportunity to grasp the scythe properly, regaining a bit of balance. he had a very short amount of time to do it, with the thing distracted by the wild stabbings of a paintbrush that really shouldn't have been so useful, but time was all that he needed. he shifted his hands so he had one on the snath and the other on the grip, then sped toward the venti, lashing at it one last time, with all he could muster, swinging the weapon the way one would a baseball bat - while being very careful not to hit the demigod in the process.

he could feel it, in a way. the death of the thing. the stabbings had been enough, would have been enough, but the blade that aiden had frowned at seemed to absorb the venti's essence, shining and glimmering in the low light of the woods. teilo looked anxiously between the scythe and aiden. "right. paintbrush worked, then," he said. "i'll never discount your proficiency again."
his words were somewhat cut off by the sound of a horn emanating. it was loud enough to send a rumble through teilo's sternum. "there's gonna be more out there." specifically, the shining light that was hanging high not far from where they stood. "surely we leave the forest. we're too far apart." his words were separated by little gasps of exhaustion.

"i hope you mean that in a good way. i hope you think that giraffes are the most majestic of all the terrestrial animals, and you're not thinking of those videos where they're swinging their heads about like they're at a rave. i really hope you're not thinking about those videos," he managed a laugh. "but now if you are, i've put it in your mind, so it's not really what you were thinking about before. i've won there, see?" he cleared his throat, began to walk. "i would bring out another anecdote about snow but every time i tell a story from my childhood it seems like things just die. i bet it wasn't even us that killed it, it was just that sick of hearing about my nativity."

auggie brought up her qualms and orin had to consider them for a moment. "we need to be back in a group. if we go out looking for people who are scattered, we'll end up scattered. if we can get everyone together, figure out who's missing, we can split into search parties. there's more strength in numbers. and - i mean, i don't think i could even give someone a static electric shock right now. seems i've powered down." he let out a short, sharp breath when the hunting horn sang through the trees, chiron's beacon to call them back to the centre. with that, he was more determined to get back. "the med tent won't work, but while people go out in search, if it's... needed... then we could set up in the mess hall. it's big enough - a few tables of ambrosia cubes, some mugs of nectar, hot chocolate on the go to warm 'em up, then save the proper medical bays for the people in emergency. there are gonna be campers with a couple nicks on the shoulder, and there are gonna be some who're hypothermic. it's just a case of making it streamlined. prioritising the care for the unhealthy." that was all very serious, and it took him aback after he had spoken. it wasn't often he fell into the realm of authority that would have seemed so natural for a cabin counsellor, but his face was calculating, his brow furrowed. there were no jokes in this stream of words, just plotting.

"point is, the venti want us separated. 'he will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight' - we're not in the right state. we'll get more hurt than this." he nodded toward the direction the horn came from. "come on."
