I don't mind any of what you said, besides this.
They are not the most misunderstood animal on this planet, at all. Sharks are much more misunderstood, and you could find many more 'misunderstood' animals if you tried.
Because... If kids were taught that they eat children and kill everything, or whatever, then how to those children grow to love them later on? I've never met someone that said they were scared of wolves. Bears and sharks, however...
True, mice are also more understood then wolves. More people are afraid of sharks and bears as well. FM-Radio is correct.
Tigers would probably be counted too, because some tigers learn to become man-eaters, and so would Alligators.

Pitbulls are also far more misunderstood. And rats, when I first told my cousin I wanted pet rats the first thing she said was "Ew, do you
want to get the plague or something?"

I couldn’t count on anyone to stand there behind me
And keep the dogs from dragging me off with them
While I slept you crept in and pulled the rug right out from under me
Then the rain stole away and took the parts that kept me functioning
My heart will be blacker than your eyes when I’m through with you

varoujan; True, you got a very good point. And I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want a stinky animal carcass dump EVERYWHERE you go, am I not correct?
new canterwood crest; Yes, indeed we should! They are graceful and beautiful; yes. Thats why we all should pitch in and do our best to help each and every wolf species.

I'm for helping the critically endangered wolf species, such as the Ethiopian and Red wolves. As for gray wolves, I respect the fact that they are hunted and I'm glad that they have a nice, stable population.
Wolves are far from misunderstood though, lol. When is the last time you heard someone say that they were afraid of wolves?
Personally, I find the cool, predatory gliding of sharks in the ocean much more graceful than wolves. But that's just me ^^
