|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Ophelia, Poppy|

Mirabelle couldn't help but chuckle when Poppy pointed out their matching accessories. Even just being in the presence of someone so positive and upbeat was starting to make her own typical chipper attitude return. Though she didn't usually handle the cold well, she had to admit that the snow was rather beautiful. Maybe I'll sketch out some winter fashion ideas later, if there's time. Her smile faltered ever so slightly as Poppy asked about their previous conversation. "Nothing really important, just lunch," she replied, attempting to keep her demeanor light. She shot an apologetic glance at Ophelia again, hoping she hadn't come off as rude or sulky earlier. The last thing she wanted was to tear a rift between them, or cause her cabinmate undue worry.

Mirabelle headed over to join Ophelia at the Aphrodite table, intent on getting her hands on some hot cocoa.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Canoe Lake|Tags: Aiden and Tielo |

Juliet swore under her breath as the ice gave way beneath their feet. "Oh, this is bad, this is bad." She usually wasn't one to panic in the face of danger, but the dark waters of the lake lapped ominously around the two campers; a jagged hole in the fragile ice. Still skirting the lake, she ran over to see who had fallen in. Oh no. It was Aiden, and some new kid she'd vaguely recognised from the Hermes Cabin. Crap. What do I do? I can't swim. Even if she could, the water was undoubtedly ice-cold. I'll be no use to them if I fall in too. A call for help jolted her out of her panicked thoughts. Adrenaline washed over Juliet as she ran towards the voice, faster than she'd initially thought she could.
By the time she'd reached the two boys, the new one had thankfully hoisted them up onto the bank of the lake. Even so, they were freezing. Juliet knew they could easily become hypothermic if they weren't warmed up in time. She knelt down next to him, shrugging off her winter bomber jacket and offering it to the boys as quickly as she could. Silently, she wrapped one of Aiden's rather limp arms around her shoulder. "Help me get him up," she told the other boy. "We've gotta get you guys inside before your freeze to death." Oh gods, please be okay.

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Forest|Tags: Jamie|

"Huh?" Chuck blinked, following where Jamie's finger was pointing. He tried looking up, but the action tilted his head and the wren fluttered down to land on one of his arms with an irritated chirp. "Oh, like, hey." He was not prepared for what happened next. The bird let loose a barrage of rather... unrepeatable language, yelling about the snow and migration patterns, and the animals getting all confused at the shift in weather. Chuck's eyes grew gradually wider as she angrily demanded an explanation. To anyone who didn't speak bird, it simply sounded like loud tweeting. "Okay okay! Like, geez, slow down, man!"
The wren tweeted angrily at him once more, fluffing up its feathers against the cold.
"Oh - like - sorry. Ma'am." Chuck scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, turning to Jamie. "So uh - apparently the weather is like, totally messing with the animals," he informed him. "Like, hibernation, migration, you name it. It's all being like, totally messed up."

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Peak of Mount Marcy|Tags: Khione, Nicholas Storm|

Vivienne had to admit, this 'Nicholas Storm' was a bit charming, in an odd way. She nodded sharply, suddenly unsure of what to say. Though she knew in theory how to be diplomatic, socialising with others was not something that came naturally to her. Especially when those 'others' were gods of some sort.
Khione turned her attention back to Nicholas and his comment about their plot for that evening. "Let's just say we have plans for that... silly game of theirs," she practically purred.
Vivienne resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Mother sure likes being cryptic. She turned to Nicholas, forcing herself to meet his gaze with steely indifference. "We're going to bury them in snow," she stated bluntly.
Khione looked a bit ruffled by her daughter's full-disclosure attitude, but held her tongue about that for the time being. "That's a simple way of putting it, but yes. We're planning our first attack during the game tonight. They should be distracted enough that they won't see it coming."

Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|camp|tags:Aggy
Auggie raised her eyebrows at the younger girls enthusiasm, she seemed a little too excited. Auggie was always eager to fight, but she wasn’t exactly a high energy person, personality wise. She took a step back as the younger camper started eagerly rambling about possible names for her new weapon. “I think you’re crazy,” She replied flatly, her expression still a carefully practiced neutral. Naming weapons wasn’t such a strange thing, especially among demigods, she just wasn’t a fan of the excited babbling. “Flora’s cool.” She added in a mutter, raising an eyebrow as the girl pulled the blade out, shining in the bright light after being freshly sharpened. Though the girl had claimed she knew how to use it, her movement seemed sloppy and inexperienced to Auggie, though she wasn’t going to underestimate Aggy again. Maybe her excitement was just getting the better of her, which wasn’t good in a battle, Auggie thought. The younger girl seemed to be put in a trance whenever there was a sharp blade around, it was kind of amusing. “Hey, kid, you still on this planet?” She asked, waving a hand in front of her face. “We sparring or what?”

Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Forest|tags:Chuck
If it was possible for Jamie’s eyebrows to rise any higher, they would’ve. He watched the bird on Chuck’s arm with wide eyes, his face twisting with the confusion at the series of aggressive chirps it let loose. He let out a huff of laughter when Chuck clearly offended the lady bird, though he was still fascinated at the conversation he seemed to be having with the wren. Although Jamie had no idea what the bird was saying, she did not seem happy. He suppressed the urge to ask what was going on, waiting until the bird finished and Chuck began to explain. He frowned. “I mean, yeah...that makes sense,” He said, glancing at the bird and then to the group of animals congregating a few paces away. “Is there anything we can do to help?” He asked, looking back at the bird then shaking his head as he realized he didn’t speak wren, before turning his gaze back to Chuck.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

Henry "Hank" Walker|He/him|Apollo|Location: Forge|tags: Ben, Laurel, Izzy

"Hank," He said, reaching out to shake the offered hand. Izzy was once again focused, and he feared she would go after the girl if he hung around too long. "I think it's best if I go see about my own armour." He said, giving Laurel an apologetic smile and lifting a hand to wave at Ben as he walked out.
He wore enough armour for a knight, his first game having been a rather...formative event for his style, and it would take quite a while to put on, but his main concern was getting Izzy out of there before she started something.
He didn't even make a move to remove her armour before exiting, head toward his cabin.

"Go for it!" Alex said encouragingly. He was disappointed to see the fellow fashionista leave, but he was too preoccupied with setting up this week's outfits to mind. He worked quickly, pulling clothes from his bag, the drawer, and the closet, and muttering to himself as he worked. Even with the weather as it was, there were only so many weeks of summer vacation.

Aiden 019 | a stranger approaches

Postby Kveykva » Mon Dec 21, 2020 11:33 am

    ──── Aiden Seaver
】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | Canoe Lake | Tags: Teilo Griffiths, Juliet Pratten
𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜
Everything happened in seconds. The ice gave way and Aiden plummeted into inky depths. He heard Teilo shout above him, yet it sounded surreal, muted. Despite how quickly the events passed, Aiden felt as though he were watching them in slow motion. His mental gears ground almost to a halt in awe of it all. At that moment, he found himself offering a prayer to his mother.

Is the world worth it, Athena? You're so much older and wiser. I know this isn't just us fighting the gods' battles, but I can't help but wonder... when will it end? When will your enemies stop? How many years will it be before demigods finish paying for the misdeeds of the Olympians? Is this really the destiny given to us by the Fates? It... it can't be fair. No one asked for this. No one in their right mind would want this. All of us here are halfway between our world and yours, and we don't have a place in either. Things are getting darker, each day marches on. There's never an end to the demigods that find their way here, but there has to be an end somewhere... right?

He felt lost. Aiden's arms drifted lazily through the freezing lake water, and his legs ceased to function. His mouth hung partway open, the last bubbles of air escaping his lips like a fleeting memory. Is this what it's like to die? Was that just his destiny? To die, in one way or another? He'd avoided these thoughts for so long, but he took the time to consider them now. Frankly, the world outside of Camp Half-Blood scared him. Better yet--it terrified him. The only memories he had were from being in foster care, and they were less than fond. He never wanted to be a problem; he never caused them intentionally, he didn't pull pranks, and he certainly didn't start fights with other kids. English was his worst subject in elementary school, with Math as a close second. He understood the concepts, but as soon as the words came out, nothing made sense. His dyslexia drove him to tears nearly every day. Aiden knew what the classes were going over, but he couldn't understand it. He felt like a pinball--knocked from place to place, everywhere within the confines of a metal shell, but never quite reaching a destination. His first taste of freedom came when he was six years old, living in one of West Virginia's children's homes. "We're setting up a meeting for Aiden on the 5th." He heard them say. "First-time foster parents, we're hoping they'll be a good fit for him." He remembered when they told him. "Angel and Orion Pax." He remembered their names. "They have a little girl just a few years older than you are. She's special." Aiden didn't wait around to find out what that meant. The last family that saw him for an interview tried to kill him. He counted down the days, and then he ran. And never looked back.

The memory shattered as the water above him roared to life. Aiden felt arms wrap around his torso and freezing air pierce his skin, each snowflake like its own little dagger. The world gradually picked back up to speed, the pint-sized Athena camper stirring as he heard Teilo calling for help. Stranger that his volume was the sensation of his arms cradling Aiden's shivering body. A figure came sprinting from shore, but the boy was too bleary-eyed to recognize a face at that distance. "..J..J-Juliet?" The words were spoken slurred and through chattering teeth. Her jacket felt as nice as the crackling hearth of Hestia. He nestled further into it, and Teilo by extension.

A stranger approaches ! ! | Tags: Vivienne Isole, Khione
"A game?" He disregarded the bickering of the two women in favor of having a question answered. "You'll have to forgive me, I'm not familiar with Manhattan's famous--or infamous, in your case, Camp Half-Blood." He reached for one of the provided cucumber sandwiches, checking his watch. "Scratch that, it seems time has gotten away from me." Nicholas kept the sandwich regardless, planning to make the most of their hospitality. He retrieved his cane and bowed to Khione. "I'll have to take my leave, but as promised, I'll clear some space in my schedule for you. Should you need me, you know where to find me." He produced a business card from his breast pocket and handed it to Vivienne before disappearing into the shadows. The black rectangle of cardstock bore the royal purple symbol of an Inner Eye. It read the business name "Final Witness Mortuary and Crematorium" and address alongside his name and a 484 phone number in ornate golden font.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|She/her|Unknown (Ares)|Location: wandering by Armoury|tags: Auggie

"Huh," Aggy said, her attention being rudely drawn from the weapon by a hand in front of her face. Her soft gaze hardened a touch to meet the taller girl's eyes. "All the better for me then!" She said, her eyes glittering with delight as Auggie's comment registered. I don't care how tough you are, when someone's crazy, you play it safe. She thought, beaming at the though of trying the newly ship-shape Flora in the ring.
"And Flora's happy to oblige!" She added, giving the blade one last slash in the light before tucking it into the scabbard and starting toward the arena.

(Just posting for these guys right now to wrap things up c:)

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Canoe Lake|Tags: Aiden and Tielo |

Juliet nodded, doing her best to help Aiden to his feet. Thank the gods he hadn't drowned. She let out a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding, puffing a little white cloud into the cold air. All this nearly drowning business surfaced a few memories in her own mind.
She was seven years old. Her mom had taken her on an outing to Brighton Beach as a special treat for managing to stay in a new school for two weeks. Juliet took to the water like a fish - she'd been a relatively strong swimmer at the time. Not strong enough to beat a riptide. Her mother had saved her life that day, only for her to return the favour years later. They had taken a winter trip to Vermont to ski the mountains and spend some time in nature. One of those nature activities was skating; Juliet's favourite. She'd only really skated in rinks before - never on a pond. Juliet heard the ice crack under her mother's skate before her mom did. She'd football-tackled her, throwing both of them to the shore just before the ice gave way.
Shaking her head, Juliet snapped herself back to the present. She turned to the new kid, urgency flashing in her hazel eyes.
"Come on, let's get you guys inside before you turn into demigodsicles."

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Forest|Tags: Jamie|

The wren chirped at Chuck some more, seeming less angry as she continued on. The exasperated roaring of the bear interrupted her, however. From the sound of it, the bear was complaining about the weather spurring her instinct to hibernate, though she didn't have enough nutrients stored in her body to do so. Autumn took up a very important role for the animals, and going straight from summer into winter meant that they didn't have enough time to store food or bulk up. Squinting, Chuck could make out a few smaller black fuzzy forms behind the large bear. Her cubs, he realised. No wonder she was so worked up. "Like.. I gotta go deal with this, see if the other satyrs and nymphs have a plan or something, you know?" he bleated nervously. He started to edge toward the gathered creatures, reluctant to leave Jamie all alone, but also loyal to his duty as the bridge between humans and animals.

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Peak of Mount Marcy|Tags: Nicholas Storm --> Khione|

Vivienne twirled the card in her dainty fingers, looking it over as her mind raced. Sure, it was great to have allies, but what exactly did they need his help for? Judging by his dark wings and foreboding presence, as well as the address on the card, she figured Nicholas had something to do with death. She'd never heard his name before, however. He wasn't of the Greek pantheon, of that she was sure. Vivienne made a mental note to do some research on this mysterious 'Nicholas Storm' when she had the chance. With a frustrated sigh, she approached her mother.
They had a lot to talk about before the attack.

"Thank you!" Niji said.
"Sorry to leave in a rush, but I have something I habe to take care of." He explained motioning to his dufflebag.
Niji put the jacket on and walked to the stables. He sighed as he tried to find a clean space. He found a, relatively, clean spot and unfolded his rug. He prayed and after he was done he folded the rug back up, put it back in his dufflebag, and started ti pet the horses.

almost as soon as he had pulled aiden out, there was another presence next to teilo. it confused him briefly, looking up wildly to see a girl he hardly recognised. had he met her before? he wasn't sure. there were too many thoughts, too many things going on. he continued on with them - everything else could wait. aiden was breathing. shallowly, but certainly breathing. that was a weight off of his chest.
the adrenaline rush of the fight or flight made it so that the cold was of no object to him - instead, there was a fire burning in the pit of his stomach, urging him to carry on, to do something, to fix this, because ultimately, he had stomped on the ice. he had led to the events that made aiden stumble backward into the water, and he would be damned if he allowed himself something else to self-flagellate over. it was going to be okay. he was certain of that.

teilo took a deep breath in, still holding aiden, and holding him tight, firm, and nodded when the new girl - the one that aiden had named 'juliet' - hooked his arm around his shoulder. he did the same, helping with the lift. "i'm fine. he'll - we need to take him to - he needs a - bloody hell." the words were not eloquent. he stumbled over them, chaos buzzing through his head, and took a moment to slow himself. "this is going to take too long. hold him up for me."
he moved away for a moment, just so that he could reposition himself in front of aiden, and with precise, learned movements, grabbed the other's right hand with his left, draped it over his shoulder, lowered himself, and looped his other arm around the back of his knees. with that, a squat, and a little bit of repositioning, he had aiden over his shoulders in a fireman's lift. "cabins." he said, trying not to appear too surprised that he was managing such a feat. he wasn't heavy - he was small, admittedly, and teilo had had some moderate training when he was younger. "thank you. for coming." he said to juliet, beginning the walk, careful not to jostle aiden too much. "it's juliet, is it? i don't normally meet people like this."

when they reached the cabins, he nodded toward the door. "could you.. hands are a bit full right now, is all." and once opened, he did not waste any time in getting him into one of the available, made beds, happy for the literal weight off of his shoulders - and finally feeling the cold. "i imagine a medic will be in order. do we have medics? this place is going to get shut down one day for criminal bloody negligence, i'll tell you that much for free." he attempted an awkward chuckle, but it sounded more like a wheeze. the immediate danger was over. they were, for the most part, alright.

Aydan Tags: Val Location: Lake

Aydan heard the crack of ice and before he knew it he looked to the lake in time to witness a camper fall through. He was only thinking it would be funny but seeing it actually happen made his heart twist with guilt even though he knew he didn't do it. He looked at Val "We should go check if that campers ok." he said to her before standing up. He momentarily held out a hand to help her up but retracted the offer and shoved his hands back in his hoodie pocket. "Lets go." he said to the girl gruffly.

Emerson "Emmie" Tags: Karter Location: Dining Hall

Emerson registered the discomfort in his face after they had reached the training area. "I'm sorry I grabbed your hand without notice, I sometimes act before I think. I'll make sure to ask next time." she said reassuringly. "I was thinking we can train using weapons and our abilities, though ill only limit myself to using Electrokinesis. " she told him. This would be easier for them and she didn't really need to practice her shapeshifting for this instance.
