YES !!
It always disappoints me when I see someone with a tiny cage, not enough bedding, and horrible care overall. IMO, hamsters are not good pets for little kids. Don’t impulse buy a pet! Hamsters aren’t as easy to take care of as people think.
Same goes with rabbits. My parents owned a rabbit when they moved in together, and it was a lot of responsibility. Buying tons of hay, replacing things constantly, etc.

Adding onto announcement: Animals require maintenance. If you are not willing to do maintenance, especially if this animal is for a child that will need adult supervision, do not get the animal. Simple as that.
And yes! Please! Do your research! It's very important that you know what you are doing and that you have something set up for the animal before you adopt them!
