not about myself but the little animals - especially hamsters - who become gifts

yea, i don't usually make posts like this but

if you're getting or if you got a hamster this christmas. then please.
PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH ABOUT HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM IF YOU HAVEN'T YET.
and this goes for ANY little animals, e.g. guinea pigs, rabbits, etc.

at least for hammies i can provide a great source of info, her videos helped me a ton with my lil bean Luna
if any of y'all have good sources for any animal care, then feel free to share it below, i just want these little babies to have a good life and not end up being thrown away because the person that got them got bored of them!! ;^; <3

Yes same here! I work at a pet store and unfortunately all I can do is dissuade people from giving pets as presents. Only give animals as a gift if the recipient has expressed they want one and has done their research!

YES !!
It always disappoints me when I see someone with a tiny cage, not enough bedding, and horrible care overall. IMO, hamsters are not good pets for little kids. Don’t impulse buy a pet! Hamsters aren’t as easy to take care of as people think.

Same goes with rabbits. My parents owned a rabbit when they moved in together, and it was a lot of responsibility. Buying tons of hay, replacing things constantly, etc.

Adding onto announcement: Animals require maintenance. If you are not willing to do maintenance, especially if this animal is for a child that will need adult supervision, do not get the animal. Simple as that.

And yes! Please! Do your research! It's very important that you know what you are doing and that you have something set up for the animal before you adopt them!

Great message behind the drawing. Lots of rodents, especially hamsters, get in the wrong hands around christmas : (
