golett let out a cry of pain and azalie felt bad for him but knew they had to keep going. "Alright Andre astonish" and as she called out the move he attacked. Both her and golett waited for the next attack.

James was a bit of a late bloomer.

He hadn't left home when he was ten or eleven. He hadn't gone at the marginally acceptable age of twelve. No, no. He was nearly a decade overdue when he ended up on the road to the lab to get his first pokémon.

None of his reasons for waiting as long as he did mattered at all to him at all anymore, however, the moment his eyes met the big red eyes of the tiny plant monster before him.

After staring back at him for a while, the Bulbasaur moved first, waddling towards James. James fell into a crouch, reaching out to pet it and exclaiming with delight. "Oh, you are so perfect," he praised, rubbing its head with his hands. "Sweet little flower bud baby... I think I will name you Troye."

Before long, and after ignoring a lot of information he was given about how to catch pokémon and how to use the pokedex (he had been given these talks many times before), James and his new friend set out on the road away from home, beginning their adventure.

As you walk along the road you see a Cyndaquil running on the road. That's strange.. wasn't that a starter choice? The Cyndaquil looked happy running around like it has been here a long time

Nose scrunching up a little bit, Nestor shrugs. "Still doesn't sound familiar." He's actually pretty sure he remembers an old friend talking about some weird team on the news that stole pokemon, but he didn't pay much attention to it, and for all he knows they were talking about some other weird team. Them letting out the Riolu makes him frown for a second, wondering what people like this are doing with one of them, but then his attention is easily stolen by the poor scared pokemon running.
When the Munchlax runs behind his legs, he can't help but grin, shifting his stance just a bit to put himself between it and the weirdos as much as possible. "Look like it!" He responds, and looks down to Lindar. She gives him a determined nod, and he returns it before glaring back up at the so called Team Rocket. "Lindar, use tackle!"

The "team rocket" member looks surprised when you mentioned not knowing the team. You could hear the friend whispering something but the only thing you could catch was "too far." The riolu flinched when it got hit by the tackle taking some damage. "use feint!" the trainer called out but.. the move failed. Next he had Riolu use quick attack moving before you and dealing some damage

Trick seemed to pause for a moment before large grin spread across their face. They nodded quickly before saying, “Alright Dew! C’mon out!” and sending the Oshawott out. Trick was actually a bit excited, not really ever having fought before. They bounced lightly on the balls of their feet, seeming to think for a moment. “Okay Dew! Use tackle!”

The Salandit jumps back after being hit by the tackle "oh~ so enthusiastic!" she was having fun as well as she says "Aria use poison gas!" a strange purple gas emits from the Salandit and gives poison to Dew.

She looked at one of the advertisements to see where it was, before beginning to head there. Luckily it wasn't far, so she arrived quickly, Sagebrush and the Shelmet at her heels.

After getting everything ready, you walk to the lab, ready to start your adventure. Before you could enter, an orange shape bursts through the doors, followed by the clumsy professor. You pick it up, it tries to free itself from your grasp but you manage to keep hold. It seems to be a level 5 starter, a Chimchar. "Oh, thank Arceus you were here!" The professor stops to take a breath before properly introducing himself. "Bertl, is it? Well seeing as you came here to get a starter, why don't you keep that one?" You think about it for a second, you were considering getting a fire type pokemon, and now you have one in your arms. You look at it and decide it's going to be your starter.
