Auggie studied his face for a moment, blue-grey eyes narrowed. “You’re trying not to laugh,” She commented, her expression blank, though she didn’t sound angry. She bit her tongue to keep from smiling at his acknowledgment of how casually she had said what she’d done, though she quickly suppressed the urge. “It was one of the new campers,” She explained. “I told her it was a test she had to pass before she was allowed to use a weapon, and if she couldn’t beat me in a race she’d have to jump in the lake.” She left out the part where she’d cheated and used her powers to trip the girl up. “She’s fine,” She said in response to his question. “Might’ve actually done her some good.” She muttered, thinking of the younger girl’s attitude. She didn’t usually speak so freely, but she trusted Sam more than most people at camp—although that was still very little. However, her moment of near vulnerability was quickly over and her gaze hardened once again as she changed the subject. “Want to spar?” She asked, nodding towards the arena where she’d been headed. “I’ll go easy on you.” She added, with a challenging smirk.

Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Big House-woods|tags:Chuck
Jamie pulled the satyr to his hooves and watched as he dusted himself off. He chuckled at his joke and fell into step beside him as they headed towards the woods. He paled slightly at Chucks question, biting his lip as he thought for a moment. “I mean, yeah...” He responded, though he didn’t sound too sure. He couldn’t just tell Chiron he was going to do something and then not do it, but he guessed he had already lied to the centaur, even if it was only for a second. “But they’re probably all pretty busy with this stuff, right?” He reasoned, trying to convince himself that he was being rational. He kept his eyes on the ground as he walked, kicking up a flurry of snow with one foot. “If I run into one of them and it comes up...maybe. But I don’t want to bug anyone.” He concluded, sounding as if he didn’t quite believe himself.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

Niji couldn't help but laugh a little at the threat, but it stopped when he saw her glare.

"Sorry. I didn't realize you were serious." Niji held up his hands in surrender.
"Truce, truce. I didn't realize that it was taboo to take a weapon."

"Indy? Is that what you think my name is? It's Niji." He said quietly hoping that she wouldn't ask why they were Arabian, but had a Japanese name, but then again he was sure that despite her claims she was an Ares child, so maybe she would ignore it. Not that she liked him anyways. His stupid mouth got in the way again.

'Maybe I'll talk to the Aphrodite campers they seem nice.' He thought.

"Well as "fun" as making you mad has been I should probably take my leave before you turn me into a shish kebab. So nice to meet you or not nice to meet you if you would rather. See you on the battlefield for capture the flag?" Niji said putting air quotes on fun and phrasing it as a question.

They grabbed their weapons, turned towards the 'not Ares child' and started to back away slowly.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|She/her|Unknown (Ares)|Location: Armoury|tags: Niji

Aggy snorted, "Indy...Like Indiana Jones, cause you seem to think that's a whip," She gestured at the wire. She'd never heard that name before, but it didn't concern her much, as she had no intention of using it. She did not like their audacity in taking the blade, which had felt so at home in her hands. This would be their reward.

In all honesty, she was pretty much done using the whetstone. But she still sat by the door with it, working intensely. She found Niji's fear comforting, and it prevented them from asking nosy questions. She grinned as he backed away "My name's Aggy, but I doubt you'll need to use it," She looked up, a glint in her eyes as she watched them back away. "What, ya scared of something?" She asked innocently. Aggy didn't like killing things, or even harming them, really. It was just so funny to see people riled up. When you were scared or angry, you didn't hide things. You told truths you didn't know yourself yet. You were like unforged metal, melting into the mould of the person you were.

"I-oh. That's not what I was expecting. Sorry." Niji apologized his face turning red.

"I'm not... scared, but cautious I suppose. You're still agitated- I think, I don't know I'm bad around people and out of practice talking around them. I'd rather keep all of my digits and somehow I don't doubt that you would take a few from me if you had to."

Niji rested his back up against the cool metal.
He sighed thinking. 'I've only prayed three times today. I should before I go to the stables, but where? The big house is out of my way. Should I find an Aphrodite kid to talk about makeup and clothing? There has to be different clothing colors other than orange. Maybe blue? Or pink? Or both?'

Niji was lost in his thoughts and was concerned that Allah wouldn't be kind to him now that he was another god's child. Niji was so lost in thought that he hadn't noticed the tears marking his face and sweater.

Hank's sudden desire to get up and leave was rather surprising to Kenna, considering the fact that he had seemed a bit eager to get more answers in the first place. She had a feeling his Izzy comment was nothing more than a weak excuse, but decided not to comment on it. If he wanted to go, there was no stopping him. So she gave a light shrug, lifting her hand, which was surprisingly still warm, to give a semi-weak wave in his direction. However, he had already turned away, and the chances of him seeing her wave were most likely rather slim.

"Good idea," she agreed. Though it was definitely both more significant and more convenient to get people to step up and confess during their later official meeting, scoping out some and gently putting it out there wouldn't hurt. It wasn't like Kenna personally had anything better to do. A new thought struck her a moment later, and she frowned. "It's weird," she mused aloud. "I'm not even sure my powers would work against snow and ice. I wonder if this is just setting me up for failure." Though the last sentence was said in a lighter tone, it was genuine, deep inside. It would definitely be concerning if she was left nearly defenseless.

The walk seemed longer than Pippa had originally expected. She wasn't sure if that was because it was quite literally longer than the path Kade had taken her from the welcoming gates to her new cabin, or if it was just because of the eery silence that lingered above them. Ophelia had broken ahead, and although Mirabelle stayed back, her head was definitely thinking about something. Nobody stared up ahead the way the counselor was currently doing unless there was something on their mind.

Pippa knew this most likely had to do with the prophecy and the strange dreams, the one Mirabelle had quickly touched on a few minutes prior to the current situation, and she genuinely did feel bad. Based on their reactions, she had a feeling this wasn't something that happened often. The fact that it all started to stir up only moments after the campers arrived seemed a bit nerve-wracking. Were they targets? Would they have to fight? Pippa didn't know how to fight, nor did she want to. She didn't even know anything about the side of her that granted her access to the camp! What if this was the year she was going to die? That was a terrifying thought.

"I think that question better applies to you guys," Pippa responded, her tone almost shy, worried she'd upset them yet again. Ophelia was out of earshot now, waving frantically to catch their attention a little ways away. "I get it. I just feel like maybe I shouldn't really be getting in your way and all. You guys all know more than I do." She gave a half-hearted shrug, forcing a smile onto her face. "I'll be okay after I eat. Wanted to get some exploring in and all before the sun goes down."

Samuel did nothing more than offer a simple shrug, unwilling to verbally admit to her discovery, yet not willing to deny it, either. It was a serious thing, especially given the fact that the temperature had dipped to such a degree that hypothermia was probably something one could pull from their personal deck of cards. The way she said it was highly entertaining, though. But not surprising. The story she revealed also wasn't shocking to hear. "Shocking," he returned rather sarcastically. Yes, that seemed like a very Auggie thing to do. However, Samuel was admittedly a bit impressed by this to-be-discovered newcomer, who had taken Auggie up on her offer. He'd witnessed a few run-aways due to Auggie's, well, lack of friendliness in terms of first-impressions. It was often Sam who had to go to them in an attempt to calm them down.

"Has she been claimed?" Samuel asked, raising a brow. "A girl standing up to you and willing to jump in a lake because she kept her promise? Kind of reminds me of Athena," he couldn't help but add thoughtfully. As a trend, those children were often rather feisty, yet weren't nearly as prideful and stubborn as the Hades and Ares kids were. Interesting.

The topic shifted, and Samuel could tell it was with something she was more comfortable with, understandably. He had begun to suspect he was an easy target for Auggie, given their differences. Not only did she happen to have been claimed by Hades, the tough God of the Underworld, but his main connection was towards Nemesis, who only went rough on those who deserved punishment. Samuel had taken that trait for himself. During spars and fights, he found his energy never truly peaked until someone wounded him, in which instinct took over and decided they needed to be taught a lesson, and his tougher side emerged. Still, sparing was something to keep his mind busy, and he rarely refused a duel.

"We all know you're going to win," he said in a matter-of-fact tone. "But I'm in."

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Pippa, Ophelia|

Mirabelle smiled, a sad yet genuine smile. Pippa's concern for her and Ophelia was touching. She could tell that the other girl wasn't necessarily being fully honest about her feelings, but decided not to push it for the time being. "Well, if you need anything, I'll be here," she said reassuringly. "At least, until the quest starts. But even then - I'm only an Iris message away."
When they caught up with Ophelia at the dining pavilion. Mirabelle sensed that something wasn't quite right. Despite all of Ophelia's methods to hide her emotions, the Aphrodite head counselor could usually tell when someone had been crying. She was rather an expert on hiding tears herself - she had years of practise on that front. Though worry prickled at her heart, she decided not to say anything for now. If I were in her shoes, I would want to pretend it never happened and move on. Instead, she offered Ophelia a smile and headed over to the buffet table to figure out what she wanted to eat.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Walking Through Camp|Tags: Open|

Juliet eventually got bored of thinking. I wonder if the lake is frozen over. She kicked a clump of gathering snow, wandering over in the direction of the lake, albeit slowly. Memories of playing ice hockey with her mom and her mom's friends came swirling back like the snowflakes twirling from the sky. Maybe I could start an ice hockey team or something? she mused. Camp Half-Blood certainly had enough people for multiple teams, and she figured that most of the demigods would want some sort of replacement for the volleyball games that usually took place after Friday lunch. Thinking about her mom made her wonder how she was doing. Had the snow reached beyond Camp Half-Blood? Perhaps Brooklyn was experiencing similar weather. She absently slipped a drachma out of her pocket and rubbed it thoughtfully. Maybe she'd send her mom an Iris message to check in. Sure, writing letters was good and all, but it took time. Time to write, time to send, and time waiting for a response. Juliet didn't want to wait.

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Walking Through Camp|Tags: Jamie|

Chuck shrugged. "Like, I guess," he agreed tentatively. "I know Mira's always up to chat with ya, at least. The other counselor dudes seem nice too, for the most part." He absently watched the snowflakes flutter down and gather on the ground. A sudden thought struck him as they left the Big House, draining the colour from his face. "Oh no! Like, the poor strawberries!" It took everything in him not to turn back. "I mean, they don't really like me, but they were like, totally unprepared for this! Aw, they're probably frozen solid already."

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Peak of Mount Marcy/Blizzard Dreamscape|Tags: Aydan|

The ability to control ice... Vivienne's gaze sharpened with interest. Perhaps that's why he feels oddly familiar... could he be another demigod of Khione? The thought seemed ludicrous. Certainly her mother would've told her if she'd had any godly half-siblings... right? Her mouth tightened into a thin line. I'll have to bring it up with her as soon as I awaken, she decided. "There is much one can do with ice," she stated instead. She neglected to show him what she meant - that would be a dead giveaway of her identity. Though she had manipulated the dream blizzard around them earlier... Still. She decided she was better safe than sorry in this situation. Speaking of awakening... she felt her grasp on the dream begin to slip.

Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Field|tags:Samuel
Auggie rolled her eyes at his sarcastic response. She knew that harassing a new kid and tricking them was a very in character thing for her to do. As much as she hated being predictable, she could never resist the urge to mess with someone, especially when they let her do it so easily. She shook her head at the question, frowning thoughtfully. “I don’t think so,” She replied, remembering that the girls belongings had been kept in the crowded back of Cabin 11. “Could be,” She agreed, “Though she did it for a whetstone and looked ready to fight me at every turn so I’m not sure.” She added. She’d never known a child of Athena to be so aggressive and belligerent, but then again, not everyone took after their godly parent, and it wasn’t like she’d gotten to know many children of Athena anyways.

She raised an eyebrow at the statement that she would beat him in sparring. She didn’t really take it as a compliment because she already assumed it was true. Auggie wasn’t one for flattery, any sort of compliment that she didn’t want to hear or wasn’t already aware of and she’d become very uncomfortable. But she already knew she was good at fighting, and Samuel never seemed to try very hard. She thought she’d managed to make him a little angry a few times, but that seemed to be a rare occurrence.

Auggie spent a lot of time at the arena, practicing with her sword. Partially because she enjoyed it and wanted to get better, and partially because it was an excuse to stay as far away from others as possible. Right now she just wanted a distraction from the events that had just taken place and from whatever weirdness was going on with the snow. It gave her an unsettling feeling that she’d been trying to ignore, and the whole camp felt like it was brimming with uneasiness. “Well I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t think I was going to win,” She said with a roll of her eyes. “But I’ll try not to scratch up your pretty face too badly.” She added sarcastically before starting off towards the arena again without looking back to see if he was following.

Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Big House-woods|tags:Chuck
Jamie nodded to Chuck’s statement. He knew the satyr was right. The counsellors all seemed like nice people and Jamie’s possibly prophetic dreams were probably important. As much as he didn’t want to think they were, Chiron wouldn’t have told him to talk to Mira or one of the others if it wasn’t necessary. If they were busy dealing with whatever this was right now, Jamie wouldn’t be bugging them by talking to them, he’d just be adding on to the already existing problem.

He looked at Chuck as the satyr seemed to have a moment of panic. He glanced back towards the strawberry fields and the blanket of snow that was quickly starting to cover them. He frowned, about to respond when he was caught off guard by Chuck’s next statement. “Wait, the strawberries don’t like you?” He asked, brow furrowing in confusion. “Do you want to go...check on them?” He asked, not really sure what they could do to help, if anything could even be done at this point.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|She/her|Unknown (Ares)|Location: Armoury|tags: Niji

This was not a reaction Aggy had planned for. She stepped out of his way. She didn't understand his reaction, and that bothered her even more. "Dude, i-it's okay," She said gruffly. Aggy was not well versed in comforting people (mainly because she didn't usually try to), but this kid clearly had bigger issues. While surface issues that brought out anger were fun to toy with, tears were different.

She slid her cutlass into the too big scabbard and the damp whetstone into a large pocket of her cargo pants. Keeping one hand on the hilt of her blade (she wasn't taking chances with Indy), she reached up to pat their shoulder gruffy. It was awkward, and not just because of how far she had to reach out her stubby arm.

Ophelia Rogers|She/her|Aphrodite|Location: Dining Pavilion|tags:Pippa, Mira

Good, I'm clear. Ophelia let out a rather shaky breath, offered a steadier smile, then settled back into stride with the other girls. She stuck behind Pippa while walking to the buffet, as if to guard her from the other campers. Though she hadn't known her for long, Ophelia knew the experience could be...overwhelming, to say the least.

She stroked her butterfly as she decided on what to eat. There were so many options. There was always options at Camp.
She ended up with a soup of some sort, caring more about the temperature than what was actually floating in the chicken broth. Ophelia hadn't been lying earlier, at least not fully. The cold did get to her.
It was now that she remembered it was polite to small talk. She looked to her bowl for inspiration, then up at Pippa "Do you have a favorite soup?" She asked softly.

Henry "Hank" Walker|He/him|Apollo|Location: Forge|tags: Ben Lu, Izzy

Hank strolled away from the girls. It was just getting too heavy for him, and this seemed like a situation where they'd need to work though the problem, rather than around it.

He sighed. Even though he was warm, the sight of this much snow at camp sent shivers down his spine. He walked faster, calling out for Izzy as he went.

She didn't come, but he had a good guess as to where she'd gotten to. He trudged to the forge, the heat rolling off the building in layers, already melting the surrounding snow. At least something was normal. He pushed open the heavy doors, and walked in to find Ben (expected) and a tall blonde girl (not expected). He lifted a hand in greeting, preoccupied by the search for Izzy. As casual as he pretended to be about the dog, he honestly didn't know what he'd do if he lost her. Finally spying her settled in a crevice away from the big fires, he let out a sigh of relief. "Found a warm spot, huh girl?" He said, giving her a scratch on the ears as he clipped her lead on.

"I'm sorry. I don't usually cry in front of people. I don't know what came over me." Niji sniffled.

They jumped when they saw Agatha's hand on them. "Oh no, I can't control my powers yet. It's best if you dont touch me. I dont want to hurt you."

Niji gave Agatha a weak smile. "Guess I really lost that fear factor huh?"

Satchi had been alone most of the day. That wasn’t quite right in her books. She didn’t like being alone. However, on her way to join the others at the dining hall, she caught sight of another girl, perhaps a year or two older than her, she would guess, whom she could not remember having spoken to before. Completely abandoning the idea of lunch, the black haired girl skipped over to the other young woman.

"Hi! Sorry for the interruption, saw you standing here and thought I’d come by and say hi. I can’t remember meeting, so hi, I’m Satchiko, call me Satchi!"
