Dog Owner Chat V. 5

Well we had a busy trip for thanksgiving... Ended up staying with a friend who had a Standard poodle ‘foster’ of sorts that my partner fell in love with, so she came home with us to get training and see if she fits with the pack. If not we will rehome her to a sports home after training. They haven’t picked her name just yet.

Then our main reason for going down, we added a Central Asian Shepherd to the farm! He will be a working livestock guardian dog, keeping our horses, poultry, rabbits and future sheep safe. We’ve decided to call him Appa. He’s 5 and has worked with horses before but was mainly a well trained pet, so he’s basically a blank slate to mold into a great LGD for our farm.

Omen and Bones came along because they are the hardest for my MIL to watch. Bones got to run a ACT1 course for agility yesterday and absolutely killed it. I can’t wait to get back to agility classes in the new year! Omen also tried the equipment out and did perfect, she’s such a confident little pup. Fairytale definitely sent us the perfect puppy!

(Yes we know the poodle looks like a mess. We haven’t made it home to get her shaved and groomed up yet. We are putting her in a corded pony cut, so she will still look kinda crazy during he cording process but not so bad.)

i don't go on the forums too much, but with the latest addition to my household i figured i'd come and say hello here!!



this is astra, our 3 month old siberian husky! she's a complete handful but i love her to death. she's my first dog that's actually mine (i know, i know, "how could you get a husky for your first dog?!?!" i wanted one for so long and oh boy she tests me every day LOL) so it's definitely a learning process! i'd love to hear any tips from other puppy or even husky owners, i'm always trying to learn more about how to train this little gremlin haha.

I don’t personally have a husky but I do care for a couple (I own a small doggie daycare), they are so much fun once you establish that you’re the boss not the other way around lol! They do test their limits at times which I’m sure you know haha!

Appa is doing really well so far! He’s met the livestock already and doing well with them, still working on introducing him to all the dogs. Octavia immediately showed him that she was the boss no matter to the fact he has 130lbs on her 😂 (hes 160 shes 30 lol)

Azula is also doing well, we are working on getting her shaved down now but once she is I’ll get new pics! She’s gonna be such a fun sport dog!


What a cute husky! Ive got one in for training right now, definitely work with your pup a lot. Try to get those manners and everything in young so you don’t have a crazy pup when they get older.

I think it's time to introduce my good girl!
Her name is Raika and she is a mix from several breeds. We know that she has a bit of a Border Collie and a hunting dog but it's probably even more.
We got her from the shelter in 2013, somebody abandoned her She's 8 years old now and she loves sticks and tennis balls. she always tries to carry tree trunks lying around in the forest because she thinks they are big sticks:




I love her so much and she is my everything! Unfortunately, she keeps barking at some dogs and also won't stop barking when the door bell rings, even if we tell her to stop. Any advice?

This is my family dog AbbII. (The II because she is Abby the second.) She's a Mini Australian Shepherd.
She's almost 6 years old, and she's the best dog I've ever had. She's a little bit derpy sometimes but she's super smart and loyal.
She's a super happy and playful girl who thinks she is a human, but there's some comical aspect to the way she sometimes has some intense look of shock or terror in her eyes. xD But she's got the prettiest eyes I think I've ever seen.

I love seeing all the beautiful and adorable dogs in this thread, so I thought I'd share too. ^^

My sister found something really important in regards to the dogs the other day and I thought I’d come here to share.
We got Mungo a little over 8 years ago now, November 1st 2012. Unfortunately, many of our old pictures of him were on old cameras and hardware we no longer have access to, so many were lost, but last week whilst going through an old set of photos on her laptop, she stumbled across the very first picture of him ever taken.

This was the image they originally had up when advertising each dog on our local rescue centers’s website, likely taken weeks before we even went up to see him there.
I’m so glad we were able to find this, it’s shocking how young he looks considering he’s about 12 now and his age is definitely showing.

Thankfully his arthritis has cleared up nicely thanks to the supplements we got him, he certainly has a spring in his step again at least, but I get so emotional when I see him struggle with things now. He’s been with me through thick and thin and I don’t know what I’d do without him. Even if he’s a pain in the ass sometimes I couldn’t ask for a better dog (other than Midge of course-) <3

Edit: I don’t think I ever did an update on the flea situation, but thankfully with persistent combing and washing of beds and blankets, we believe they’re all gone :’)
