Ophelia Rogers|Female|Aphrodite|Location: Cabin 10, leaving|tags: open
Ophelia yawned, and was suddenly struck by a terrible thought that had her standing up on her now asleep legs and limping into the Aphrodite cabin, shield still held protectively above her head. In wanting to look like she hadn't gone to the Artemis cabin in vain, she'd sat in the sun while sporting her third eye, which had surely felt the heat! She rushed inside, ignoring the glares from campers who remembered this morning's alarms, and sat down at a beauty station to fix her work, quickly flicking her shield back into a bracelet as she tilted her head slowly to check it from all angles.
She breathed a sigh of relief upon finding it intact, but she briefly wondered about using her mother's makeup, which could supposedly hold for days, before shaking the dastardly thought away and moving to leave before she got more than glares thrown at her.

Henry "Hank" David Walker|Male|Apollo|Location: Half-Blood Hill |tags: Kade, Pippa, Chuck and Karter
"Hank Walker, at your service," He said to Pippa with a mock bow and a grin.
The movement caused the bow on his back to tip forward, giving him an idea. "D'ya wanna see a cool trick?" He asked in a rush, not even waiting for a response before unclipping his bow from his back. He flicked out his celestial bronze finger tab, barely listening to the satyr as he melodramatically squared his feet up, knocked an arrow on his bow and casually it let fly at a puffed out dandelion 100 yards out, not even waiting for it to hit before puffing out his chest and looking around to make sure his audience was impressed.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|Female|Unknown (Ares)|Location: At the arch|tags: Mirabelle, Astren
"Ah, okay then," Aggy said, her forehead creasing as she tried to take in all the blonde was telling her.
She looked at the boy with them, and smiled darkly. She'd heard him say he was returning, surely an experienced camper would be up for some sparing.
"Hey, pretty boy, what are you up to?" She asked, eyes wide with curiosity as she put emphasis on the pretty. He didn't look like a girl, but he certainly looked like someone who was willing to throw a punch at anyone who suggested that he was girly... She kept her eyes on him, glittering in anticipation of her first fight to christen this new ground.

Skylar Kakitid, 16 years old, Female, Daughter of Hecate, 7 year camper, Location: Entrance of Cabin 20, Tags: Open

With a smile, Skylar looked at all the new and returning campers coming for the summer. She and a few others stayed the whole year, they had no where else to go. But, she loved this welcoming place. It was home. She loved the summer, plenty of time to show new campers who was boss around here. She was the most powerful magic user here and loved to show that fact. She hoped she could get some new half-siblings. There weren't many around good old Cabin 20 these days.

She surveyed the Camp clearing and Entrance with her dark grey eyes. Hmmm, where were some newbies she could amaze with her magnificent power? Skylar just needed to look for the young, wide-eyed stare that seemed to be amazed at everything. They would be her target. This year, she would make sure the firsties knew who she was. *Cough* Last year that did not happen as she planned *Cough* She decided to wait by the entrance of her Cabin watching all of the summer campers go by with a hard-core stare.

Kade Turner | Athena | Tagging: Hank, Karter, Chuck, Pippa | Location: Camp, Half-Blood Hill

Kade smirked at Hank. "Well look, now you’ve gone and made more dandelions!" He mock complained as the dandelion fluff scattered from the perfect shot, clapping his friend on the shoulder. He faced Pippa again. "Well I expect a lot of this is... overwhelming to put it kindly," he noted. "I think we're all in the same boat when we first start to figure things out and arrive. Do you know yet who your godly parent is?" If it had been mentioned, he’d been too busy dealing with assessing the situation and not freaking Karter out, which made him feel just a liiiittle bad. Of course, stupid question...so few people KNOW their godly parent upon arrival.

p.d 3 - camp entrance

Postby senna_ » Tue Dec 01, 2020 7:58 am

━ pippa diggery aphrodite tags: chuck, karter, hank, kade

Pippa wasn't exactly sure what Chuck was implying when he mentioned "whacky stuff," and she wasn't sure she was ready to ask. It was only her first day, after all. The first hour, even. Her stomach stirred as the Satyr continued on, though she was not one hundred percent convinced that it was all from nerves. This was all so new to her, and she was eager to get her hands on anything and everything. The mentioning of the North Woods put her off for a quick second, and she made a mental note to steer clear from there, but she knew deep inside that that note would vanish within seconds. She had a terrible memory if she didn't write it down. Surely there would be signs, no? The camp looked humungous, and she wasn't even properly situated inside yet. She opened her mouth to question what he defined to be a "monster," but Chuck had already carried onward. So she settled back into her quiet side, eyes focused intently on the curly-haired boy until she was sure he was finished speaking.

"Consider me an Aphrodite dude," Pippa told him, doing as she could to keep a straight face. "Dude" wasn't exactly a common word in her vocabulary, and it practically tasted funny rolling off of her tongue, but it was rather gleeful to innocently mock him in return. "Her symbol is a dove, I saw it. It was sparkly, though I guess given the Goddess, that's probably not surprising." She wasn't sure how serious this makeup look was, especially given the way Chuck mentioned it, for she'd gotten little more than a pretty shimmery eye shadow that touched on the shade of the cleanest sea water. She took the shade of blue came from Aphrodite's birth place, which, is she was correct, was from the ocean. It wasn't anything extraordinary, nor was it bewildering, for Pippa wore makeup anyway. She'd only momentarily panicked when she had issues rubbing it off the first night. Her parents were quick to fill her in, though. "She claimed me, did you say? If that's the right word, yes. That's how I figured out-" she gestured with both arms to the large sign before them- "all of this. It was pretty hush-hush beforehand."

The two newcomers finally stepped up close enough for her to have a decent conversation with them. The brown-haired boy had yet to introduce himself, and Pippa wasn't going to push for it. She'd introduced herself, so it was up to him if he wanted to return the manners or not. Hank, the blond, hopped right on board, though, and Pippa returned his smile, hers genuine. It faltered slightly as he casually revealed a rather dangerous-looking bow-and-arrow, her eyes glued to the shiny-tipped arrow as he rocketed it elsewhere. Impressively enough, it hit a dandelion square on. Pippa wasn't even sure he'd properly focused his gaze on it beforehand.

"Does everyone just carry around weapons like it's nothing?" she questioned, eyeing the bow-and-arrow for a second or two longer. "Are they really necessary here?"

vincent whittaker / son of ares, nike legacy ( counselor ) / seventeen / closeted bi / location: dining pavilion / tags: open

Thirty minutes later, after hammering some sense through the thick skulls of his half siblings, Vincent finally departs the cabin. With the sun high, there's more than a few campers walking around now, and he nods at some of them as he makes his way towards the dining pavilion. He's starving. Vincent grabs a plate of pancakes and dumps a good portion of them into the brazier as an offerring, before heading over to the Ares table to eat. There's a couple of stragglers hanging around, mostly latecomers - like himself.

It's only when Vincent's halfway through his second plate of pancakes that he belatedly remembers he was supposed to be greeting the new campers today. "Oops," He mumbles quietly under his breath, before going back to devouring his pancakes.

astren byrnes / son of apollo / fifteen / gay / location: camp / mentions: x / tags: mirabelle, agatha

Astren zones out as the two girls talk, taking the time to survey the strawberry fields and take in the fresh air. He and Agatha aren't the only people arriving now, as faces flood the gates, both new and old. No one he's particularly close too, but then again, he had only himself to blame. His first two summers had been quiet ones, out of the limelight and fuss, and he hadn't made many close friends. Still, there were people he was looking forward to meeting again, especially his half-siblings. The hustle and bustle of the Apollo cabin was a stark difference from home, where it was just his mom and him.

Turning back towards Mirabelle when she poses a question, he shakes his head. "I'm okay," He says, mindful of the mandolin case on his back, and the two duffel bags by his feet. "I think I've got it, thanks though." He steps forward, only to freeze up at Agatha's cutting remark. Was she teasing him? Did she know? Astren frowns, pushing his lips together in a thin line. "What's that supposed to mean?" He snaps, the words coming out harsher than he meant.

emerson crow / child of hypnos / fourteen / pan / location: arriving at camp / tags: open

The taxi shudders to a rolling stop at the edge of the dirt road, and Emerson looks up from their book, confused. "Uhm," They asked quietly, "We're not there yet."

The man tips his head apologetically at them, "Sorry kid, but this is as far as I go."

Emerson sinks down in their seat, fiddling with the straps of their backpack. "Can you... take me closer... please?" They ask, only to wilt further when he shakes their head.

"You're not too far out kid," He says, "Maybe a couple of miles from here." Emerson tunes him out as he rattles off the cost, numbly combing through the big stack of bills Aunt Bella had pressed into their hands before they left.

"Here," They say, handing him a couple of twenties before hiking their backpack onto their shoulders. They hop out of the car, grabbing their duffel and Nible's carrier before shutting the door. Before they can even blink the taxi is gone, leaving nothing behind but a plume of smoke that disappears all too quickly. Squinting at the dirt road stretching out before them, Emerson sighs tiredly, and starts to walk.

It's nearly an hour before they see the gate. Their feet are aching something awful at this point, and all Emerson wants to do is sit down. There's a couple of cars around, parents wishing their children goodbye, and they squash down the spark of jealously that's threatening to burn. Limping past a couple of groups, they step through the camp gate, hoping fervently that this is where they're supposed to be. "Let's hope for a good summer, Nimble." Emerson mumbles.

s.m 1 - camp

Postby senna_ » Tue Dec 01, 2020 8:11 am

━ samuel malfrid • nemesis • tags: skylar

Samuel woke up late, as per usual. Despite having always been a light sleeper, his past few peaceful years at the camp had allowed his body to relax, become appreciative of what was there to offer. For him, a major one was a comfortable bed and a nearly empty cabin. Samuel used to wake up at the crack of dawn, but he'd trained his brain to rest for a few more hours. It was ever-so rewarding.
This particular morning felt different. Even from where he was situated, he could hear low, excited murmurs from around his cabin. Inhaling sharply, Samuel tossed the blankets away from his body and slowly sat up straight, running a hand through his mop of curls before rubbing his fatigued eyes. Yawning, he forced himself out of bed, sloppily throwing his covers back in a lazy attempt to remake his bed. He took his time changing and preparing for the day, but eventually made it outside.

The sun was seemingly brighter than usual, as if it too knew today there would be newcomers. He squinted against it, rubbing his eyes yet again until his vision properly adjusted to the vicious light. A sharp yet rewarding gust of wind raced past him, as if overly excited to meet the newbies. Samuel lacked that energy; It was far too early. Still, he found himself drifting towards the entrance, where waves of both unfamiliar and familiar faces were rolling in.

A figure in particular caught his attention. They were standing off to the side, eyes fixated on the arrivals as if it was the most fascinating thing around. Samuel brought himself to learn more about Skylar Kakitid that summer. It hadn't taken him long to figure out much like himself, she had little desire to return home, if she even had a place to go. Due to the few amount of people that stayed during the summer months, casual chats had been shared. But Samuel always ended up hiding in his comfortable shadow by the end of the day. And he was sure that would be the case this time around, as well.

"Already planning on picking on one of them?" he drawled as he slithered up behind the blonde. "At least give 'em a second to catch their breath, would'ya?"

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Half-Blood Hill|Tags: Astren, Aggy|

Mirabelle's blue-grey eyes widened when the two other demigods started to bicker. "Whoa, no need for aggression!" she cautioned both of them. It was then that a sudden thought struck her. She knew she'd recognised Astren, but it wasn't until Aggy's snide comment that she realised why. Astren used to be a girl. As an ally - and secretly part of the LGBTQ+ community herself - she felt anger start to churn inside of her at the thought of someone teasing someone else for being transgender. Taking a breath, she wrestled the anger down. I have to remain clear-headed - otherwise I'll just add fuel to the fire. "Aggy, why don't we go get you settled in Cabin 11?" she suggested in an attempt to diffuse the situation. The Head Counselor shot Astren a quick look to show she understood his reaction, all the while still struggling to keep the peace.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 11|Tags: Open|

After watching to make sure that no one was coming, Juliet made a mad dash for the Hermes cabin. Once inside, she slammed the door shut. She was barely even winded from her exploits. She was rather warm, however, so she unzipped her army jacket and tied it around her waist. With a sharp laugh in triumph, Juliet stashed the stolen goods under her cot, intent on sharing them with her cabinmates when they all returned from breakfast - or whatever else they were doing.
Seeing his person return, Romeo began chittering excitedly. The ferret scurried to the opening of his enclosure, leaning up on the bars to get Juliet's attention.
"Okay, okay," the daughter of Hermes laughed. "I'll take you out for a bit." Not even bothering to do it physically, she unlatched the gate with her mind. It was good practise, after all! Romeo dashed out as soon as the gate was open and immediately climbed up Juliet's body until he was perched on her shoulders. The ferret blinked slowly as she scratched his chin, evidently pleased with his new accommodations.

Chuck whistled as Hank hit his mark, sending little dandelion puffs flying everywhere. "Like, wowzers, man," he complimented in that odd 70's speech pattern of his. When Pippa mentioned that she had been claimed by Aphrodite, the satyr's ears perked up. "You don't say!" he exclaimed. "I happen to be like, tight with the Head Counselor of the Aphrodite Cabin. We go waaaay back." He shot a glance across the grass at Mirabelle, but she was busy talking to some other campers. "Don't worry, she's like, super nice and stuff."

Skylar Kakitid, 16 years old, Female, Daughter of Hecate, 7 year camper, Location: Entrance of Cabin 20, Tags: Samuel

Skylar continued watching the first years and played a little with her magic. She started twirling her fingers and little wisps of purple started to weave around them. Some kids noticed and pointed at her in awe. They hadn't even seen anything cool yet. maybe she could draw a small crowd of them and show her true power. Just as she was about to do something really cool, she heard a voice behind her. She jumped and swirled around in surprise, briefly and unconsciously turning her nose into a pig snout. Embarrassed, she turned her nose back and faced who was talking.

It was Samuel, a older teen who had also stayed the whole year. She didn't know much about him and had only had a few casual chats with him. She remembered that he was the son of Nemesis and two years older than her. She confidently smiled and chuckled at his comment. "Picking on them? Ahh, come on. They just arrived and they need to know what to expect from Camp Half-Blood. Especially Cabin 20. I was just going to give them a little demo about what Camp Half-Blood is all about. Learning." She causally swung her hands behind her back, grabbed her hands, and twisted her fingers towards an older first-timer entering the clearing. The kid's shoe laces tied to together and he stumbled, looking confused. "I make it my job to make sure they learn all about Camp Half-Blood and its magic."

Hank flushed at his friend's comment about camp being "overwhelming" before responding to Pippa. "Well, that depends on how long you plan on living," Hank said, before quickly realizing how dark that sounded. "I mean like, as a daughter of Aphrodite, the monsters shouldn't target you too badly." He said, wincing as it came out even worse than his previous comment.
He scratched his neck awkwardly, hoping one of the others could cover for him, and wishing he hadn't sent Izzy off this morning. She could've been here right now, fetching his arrow (and making him look even more impressive) and smoothly breaking the ice.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson|Female|Unknown (Ares)|Location: En route to Cabin 11|tags: Mirabelle, Astren
Perhaps her bait had worked a little too well.
She shrunk back at the girl's comment, always wanting to be on the authority's good side, but not before taking the last word. "Too chilvarious to fight a girl?" She taunted. Batting her eyes dramatically, she added "Oh, what a knight in shining armour you are, here, take my hankerchief." She sniggered, then pulled out of range, and focused on following the blonde girl

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Leaving Half-Blood Hill|Tags: Astren --> Aggy|

Mirabelle cast an apologetic look at Astren as she quickly led Aggy away before things could get worse. When they were out of earshot of most of the other campers, she turned to the younger girl with a stern expression. "Look. I understand that people often lash out when they're stressed or upset," she said quietly yet firmly. "But that doesn't make it okay." She did her best to keep the frustration out of her voice, but a small amount leaked through. The Aphrodite counselor took a breath to calm herself, pushing the mix of emotions down to deal with later. "There are plenty of better ways to blow off steam," she continued, more gently this time. "We have an entire arena full of training gear and stuffed dummies to practise on, and there are always other demigods willing to spar. I find that's often a good way to release some aggression."

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 11|Tags: Open|

Juliet sat on her cot, stroking Romeo as she brainstormed pranks to pull with her newly acquired supplies. I could rig the Big House... but Mr. D's probably hiding out there to escape from all the new campers, she mused. Of course, I could always rig any of the cabins, or even ours... Oh wait! The new campers... prime prank victims. A smirk played across Juliet's features. I could just throw bang snaps at them, but that's too simple, she reckoned. I'll have to do something big... false monster attack? The wiry girl immediately grimaced. Nope - nope. Too many ways that could go wrong.

Chuck winced at Hank's awkward comment. "I mean... you'd be surprised, man," he chimed in. "When I was bringing Mira here like seven years back, we got the attention of some pretty gnarly dudes. And that was, like, before she was even claimed. Like, the first one we had to deal with was like an empousa that had gone like, totally bananas. Came after - uh, right, getting off-topic." Chuck quickly cut himself off under the premise of wanting to spare the gory details. However, in reality, he realised that he'd nearly said too much. Mira's story wasn't his to tell - if she had wanted people to know, they would by now.
