Beestar ✟ 49 moons ✟ ♀ ✟ Apprentice: ✟ Mate/Crush: Streamstar ✟ Tags: Clan ✟ Lives: ★★★★★★★★"𝒩𝑜𝓌 𝓈𝑜𝓃, 𝐼'𝓂 𝑜𝓃𝓁𝓎 𝓉𝑒𝓁𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈,
T h e tabby beckoned the kits forward with a broad stroke of her ringed tail. A purr rumbled in her chest as the three approached - she couldn’t help herself, these days. After raising her own sons and watching them become apprentices, she had a special fondness for kits, a fierce protective instinct that extended beyond her own. Watching Creamflower’s little ones step forward to begin their paths that would lead them to become warrior of OakClan made her proud, almost as proud as she had been of her own.
Her gaze fell on the only she-cat of the litter: Dustkit. “Dustkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Dustpaw. Your mentor will be Dappleleaf. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you.”
Beestar’s eyes flicked towards the young calico warrior. Not even twenty moons, Dappleleaf had only been a warrior of OakClan for a couple of seasons, but in that time had already taken a mate in her deputy’s son and grown as a result. The leader thought that both of the young warriors had grown with each other to lean on, and had discussed in length with Blizzardclaw if either were ready to take on an apprentice. Now, watching Dappleleaf’s eyes light up as she nosed her mate’s shoulder before padding towards Dustpaw, she was certain she had been right about the two. “Dappleleaf, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Violetwhisper, and you have shown yourself to be focused and patient. You will be the mentor of Dustpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her.”

T h e black tom focused on Beestar as he spoke, nervousness welling in his stomach. He nodded in agreement as Raccoontuft mentioned butterflies in her stomach - he could empathize well. He cast a sideways glance at the pretty tortoiseshell beside him. Splashfeather was the oldest of the three - so the most likely to receive an apprentice. Not that he could blame Beestar for choosing her, should it be the cast; he knew the queen was clever and full of a fire that made a good warrior glow, at least in his eyes. Her mention of perhaps the three of them becoming mentors caught his attention and the tom looked away quickly, giving his chest fur a few quick licks. “We can hope,” he agreed, his voice catching in his throat a bit, but a purr still rumbled nonetheless at the thought of training apprentices with his friends. As Dappleleaf was called forward to mentor Dustpaw, Jackdawstrike rolled his eyes. “Oh, StarClan, Beestar just had to pick a she-cat that will end up in the nursery before she’s done training her apprentice!” His tone was playful, but he flicked his tail towards Dappleleaf, who was padding forward towards the apprentice and leaving her spot rooted beside her mate, where she usually stayed.

Dappleleaf ☮ 24 moons ☮ ♀ ☮ Apprentice: Dustpaw ☮ Mate/Crush: Weaselstripe ☮ Tags: Weaselstripe, Dustpaw"нєу нσηєу уσυ ¢συℓ∂ вє му ∂яυg,
T h e thought of her mate’s father speaking well of her to Beestar made Dappleleaf break into a surprised smile. She looked up to Blizzardclaw, and wanted his approval, for her mateship’s sake. She saw his courage and wit in his son, and was certain that Weaselstripe took after his father. “I certainly hope so,” she replied, though her ears flicked towards the den entrance as Beestar’s cry rang out. “Oh - we had better get going!” There was an eagerness in her movements as the calico rolled to her paws.
From her spot beside her mate, Dappleleaf had been watching the ceremony. She had cheered eagerly for Dovespirit - she still remembered the day that she and Splashfeather had run into the kittypet in the forest. It felt like so long ago, and now Artemis was no more. In her place stood a skilled, well-equipped warrior who was one of OakClan.
Lost in her thoughts, Dappleleaf was startled when Beestar called out her name. Sitting straight up, the calico’s eyes widened with surprise, then lit up. She quickly touched her nose to Weaselstripe’s shoulder before springing forward, heading towards Dustpaw in long strides. “...you have received excellent training from Violetwhisper, and you have shown…” Dappleleaf’s gaze flicked towards the clouds briefly. Are you watching me, Violetwhisper? Did I make you proud, old friend? Her former mentor and closest friend had been gone for a few seasons now, but she could almost hear her kind tone responding with a firm, warm “yes.”
Purring in delight, Dappleleaf stopped beside Dustpaw as Beestar’s words finished. She leaned done to the she-cat and whispered, “Touch noses with me, let’s show your brothers how it’s done. I’m glad to have you as my apprentice, Dustpaw!” The words were sincere - of the litter, Dappleleaf couldn’t have picked a better apprentice for herself than Dustpaw.

Stormpaw ☣ 8 moons ☣ ♂ ☣ Mentor: Elmshade ☣ Mate/Crush: Dustkit ☣ Tags: Falconpaw"Can't bear to wash out the wasted time
“ W e l l then let’s go,” Stormpaw said, rising to his paws. He gave his gray tabby pelt a shake. “Oh, mouse-dung. We’re late.” Beestar was already addressing the crowd from her perch as Stormpaw pawed his brother’s shoulder and darted from the den. He spotted Bearsong and Artemis pretty quickly, as they hadn’t gone far. The two seemed to be chatting with Hazefire and his mentor, Elmshade. Stormpaw padded near them - but not close enough to hear their conversation - and settled down to watch the meeting. He glanced back to make sure Falconpaw was following.

T h e brown-and-white tabby was almost in shock as Poppykit dashed forward. “Ah - let’s go!” He headbutted Dustkit, hoping she would follow him. The tom’s paws were shaky as he started forward and he couldn’t help but cast a nervous glance back towards his foster parents. They had given him a good kithood, and he only hope they still accepted him as part of their family as he grew up. Fawnkit only wanted to make them proud of him, to show them that he would become a strong OakClan warrior just like the kits they had that were full of warrior blood. As Dustkit’s name was called first, he shot her an encouraging glance before standing next to Poppykit.

Swiftbadger ☄ 45 moons ☄ ♂ ☄ Apprentice: ☄ Crush: Littleflower ☄ Tags: Redpaw"𝕀'𝕞 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨𝕟 𝕒𝕤 𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕣𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥-𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕤𝕝𝕦𝕘𝕘𝕖𝕣-
E a r s pricking as he heard his name, Swiftbadger stood to his paws. I knew this would happen, the brown tabby thought, shooting a glance at Littleflower, though his pride was wounded when he found her eyes hastily darting away from his own. He shoved the thought from his head as he padded forward. He stooped to Redpaw’s height as he touched noses with the young tom. He couldn’t be happier - of all of Foxcloud’s kits, Redpaw was a good one to get, he had decided. He had been around the kits quite often recently as he had been visiting Acornspots, and couldn’t help but size them up, deciding who he would like to train should he be given the opportunity. He often watched them play and had realized quite quickly that Redpaw was a leader of sorts, and determined to become a strong warrior of EagleClan.
As the ceremony concluded, the agile tom flicked his tail across Redpaw’s flank. “All right,” he said, looking the apprentice up and down. “I think you’ll be able to keep up...we’ll try to get through as much of the territory as we can today, and while we talk, I’ll explain some things like the Warrior Code. One second - I’ll grab Littleflower, she and Brightpaw can come with us.” Swiftbadger was determined to force Littleflower back into his life, and the fact that they were now both training apprentices would be a great asset for that, at least in the tom's eyes. But as he glanced back, he realized that Littleflower had already started out of camp with another pair. His face fell slightly, but he turned back to Redpaw quickly, not wanting the tom to think he was disappointed that they would be alone. "Well, you know what they say about the early bird getting the warm. That's okay, we can head out alone. That way we can take our time anyway!"

T h e silver tabby’s eyes flashed with sympathy. Acornspots didn’t know what being deputy was like, no, but she knew what being a warrior was like. She had always been up at dawn, the first one to volunteer for patrol. She had always been well on top of her tasks and had always been so focused. Looking back, Acornspots knew she had been so uptight and cold all of the time. Motherhood had changed her - for the better, she thought, and had helped her mend her relationship with Swiftbadger. She gently touched the tip of her tail to Streamspot’s shoulder. “I don’t know what you’re going through - I can’t imagine the weight the deputy bears,” she mewed gently, “but don’t let that keep you from experiencing things in life. Things can be different if only you make them. You deserve happiness.”

Quiverheart ◎ 18 moons ◎ ♀ ◎ Apprentice: ◎ Mate/Crush: ◎ Tags: Darkclaw"All these confusing images of what life should look like...
Q u i v e r h e a r t didn’t mind the quiet. She felt comfortable in it, and it seemed that time spent with Darkclaw often held silence. It wasn’t a bad thing; the queen just focused on the sun warming her thin pelt as the two bounded towards the stream. “Oh,” she replied softly as Darkclaw inquired about her father. It made sense that he was curious; the tom had been his mentor, after all. Her ears pinned back as the last six moons ran through her mind. “Not the best he’s ever been,” she admitted. “I thought for a moon or so that he was going to grieve himself to death over it...he was so excited at the thought of having more kits, after what happened with my mother and siblings. I think that hurt him more than losing Foxcloud.” She shook her head, her nose wrinkling as if just saying the queen’s name left a bad taste in her mouth. “I worry about him more now, though! I don’t know what they were thinking, assigning Eveningpaw to him! I can’t imagine that would be healthy for either of them!” As the queen got more worked up, her voice rose - at least, to a volume that was unusual to Quiverheart - and she could feel her paws shaking beneath her.
Are just illusions; they are just illusions - that mean so much to me."

A s the apprentices chattered behind him, Deertail focused on calming himself down. His fluffy tail was in kinks, and the ginger-and-white tabby’s mind was toiling. He almost felt dizzy with panic, now that the initial anger had subsided. He didn’t want to be around these kits. He didn’t want to be around Foxcloud. He didn’t even want to think about her, about how she had cheated on him without even enough decency to tell him who the real father was. And now, just when he thought perhaps he was beginning to recover, Eveningpaw had become his apprentice. As much as he hated Foxcloud, what had this apprentice done? Just at six moons old, she had hardly had enough time to be alive. How was he supposed to train her, to remain objective, when he just saw her mother in her eyes? When her pelt didn’t look like either his or Foxcloud’s - but who’s? Swiftbadger’s? Daydream, after all? Who, who? His ears pinned back subconsciously, but he soon caught himself. Deertail, you have to focus. You have a duty to EagleClan. You have a duty to what’s right. Eveningpaw isn’t Foxcloud. She didn’t hurt you.
The tom’s voice - to his dismay - was shaking as he slowed, skidded to a stop, and faced the apprentices. While shaky, he tried to convey a gentle tone as he asked, “Well, now that you’re out in the forest, what would you like to see first? We could start along the thunderpath - or we could start along the stream, our border with OakClan. I can still remember my first day as an apprentice - I know the forest is big and it can be intimidating, but soon you’ll remember every tree and clump of brush in every corner of our territory.” The words had poured from his mouth quickly, as if he were eager to get to the end of them, which left his sides heaving for air as he finished. Embarrassed, the tom tried to force a smile at the two young cats. Even with the bitterness in his heart, he would try to keep his temper even.

A small squeak escaped the tortoiseshell as she tumbled under her sister’s weight. Almost shaking with excitement from the game, Willowkit rolled around, trying to batter her sister with her hind paws. She paused, her eyes filling with concern. “Mom! Pinekit! Applekit!” Tottering, the kitten tapped her sister’s shoulder with her paw urgently. “Everyone left us! We have to catch up!” Willowkit was a rather quiet kit, so she and Sorrelkit got along well, as did their brother, Emberkit. Quite the oddity, a male tortoiseshell, Emberkit was often shadowed by Acornspots. While there was nothing wrong with his health, the queen still worried for him - being different was usually not a good thing when it came to acceptance. Willowkit did not envy him. She was glad to have her space, and glad that Acornspots only looked over her shoulder the normal amount.
