snowdrift decides to go for a walk outside of camp, feeling a strange pull towards the river that she can't quite explain; instead of waking her grumpy denmate maplespark, she decides to go alone since it'll just be a quick walk to get her joints moving. maplespark awakes several hours later and her denmate hasnt returned, so she goes looking. maplespark discovers snowdrift's lifeless body floating in the nearby portion of the gihon river.

hmmm, I'm currently trying to figure out how to get back my love of writing, so for the time being, here's a skeleton ^^' Hoping maybe having a bit more of idea of where things will go will help me out. If I'm allowed to add in comics, then I may mess around with that a little bit so I have some way of getting my ideas out of my brain ^^'

After three days at sea -- with Asher essentially taking the reins by fishing and navigating for the both of them -- the pair arrive on a rocky beach just next to a small human village. Asher appears somewhat reluctant to strut on in in broad daylight, but Tessa is determined and won't listen to reason. The pair decide to search the village of any sign of Tessa's owners or any sign of Onno's family. Along the way, they meet an extremely fluffy brown tabby. She refuses to give her name at first, bargaining her knowledge and personal information for caught prey and pretty accessories. Asher's attempts to convince her to do otherwise fail and because Tessa cannot hunt, he leaves in a huff to snag something to trade in.

Fortunately for Tessa, the brown tabby's partner reveals her name by accident -- the brown tabby's name is Kiki (placeholder) -- and apologizes both to her mate for ruining her scheme and to Tessa for giving her trouble. While the silver torbie is trying to lead her partner away, softly chiding her actions, Tessa speaks up and asks if they could still possibly help her out. She'd still be willing to pay for information if that is what it took, but Kiki's partner quickly turns the offer down and asks what they can help with. Tessa explains the sea had been so vicious that it had torn her family away from her. She asks if there have been any new humans to arrive or if there are any cats that may have lost their kitten in the wave. Both of the cats appear confused -- there may have been a higher tide several moons ago, but not so much as to damage the village or harm the local cat population. They offer to ask around regarding the lost kitten while Tessa wanders around to find her owners. The three of them decide they'll meet up again in a few days to discuss their findings before they decide what they should do next.

After Asher returns, fish in jaw, to see that only Tessa remains, he spits it out in a grumble. Tessa explains the situation to him and the pair set off. While searching through the town, they are unable to find her owners and discover that no one new has been on the island in many, many moons. Although disheartened, Tessa knew that she was asking for a lot. She still holds up but puts her focus on searching for Onno's family. After sheltering in the dilapidated ruins of a food stand, Tessa and Asher meet up with Kiki and her partner to discuss. The mated pair could not find any information about a mother missing their kits and all the cats that they knew personally were accounted for. They could only suggest that the family is on another island or were lost at sea in the storm. For some unstated reason, Kiki feels particularly responsible and offers to join them on their journey to see if she can't help them find some answers. idk, maybe kiki had a litter of her own once but lost the kits to one reason or another? or maybe she had younger siblings that were lost to the sea? i'm not sure yet Although her partner tells her off for being crazy, Kiki manages to convince her into letting her go and maybe even joining her if the other molly is so worried.

The four of them have a short discussion on where to head next. They could help back to the main island or they could head off to another one nearby. They decide to head back to the main island for the time being to regroup and check in on Onno and Blu.

Blu and Onno have been fending for themselves relatively fine actually. Onno has opened up a little more to the colorpoint tom and they've bonded a bit. Onno is surprisingly talkative and likes to babble on about all the stories that their mother once told them -- but that ultimately turns into a sobbing session with the little kit begging for their family back. Blu isn't certain how one would go about comforting a kit and he fears what the noise may bring. They'd been safe so far, but Tessa often spoke of spirits, which had been enough to spook him into losing plenty of nights of sleep. In his futile attempts to hush the kit, he almost manages to miss the rustle of leaves behind him. But as he's turning back to flare up his tail and hiss at the intruder, a big and round molly pushes into the makeshift den to coo to the kit. Blu still growls and tries to force his way in between them, but the molly ignores him easily and before too much longer, the kit grows quiet, having cried themselves to sleep.

The cinnamon calico introduces herself as Sasha and offers her apologies. She didn't mean to barge in and was certain the tom was perfectly capable of looking over the little one but she just couldn't ignore the kit's cries after having just recently lost her own. Blu doesn't exactly know what to do, but decides to scold her for barging into someone else's den uninvited. He does, however, thank her for her help quickly after. Sasha has an incredibly warm aura about her and the tom feels himself relax in her presence. With Onno settled, Blu and Sasha strike up a simple conversation about the kit -- Sasha mentions having seen a couple of other cats wandering the beach -- and although they've just met, Blu feels as though he can trust Sasha with the kit's safety and offers to go seek out the strangers. Sasha warns him that she does not know them and did not get close enough to see what types of cat they may be, but Blu reassures her that either way, the more information they get, the better. If they're enemies, they'll defend themselves. If they're friends, they'll welcome them into their little ragtag group.

Given that everyone so far had been a little bit lost, Blu feels like keeping everyone together would keep everyone calm and help them make good decisions regarding where they need to go and what they need to do. With a swift goodbye and an affecionate nuzzle to the kit, Blu heads off towards the beaches. He doesn't expect his partner or Tessa to be back just yet -- they left only a day or two ago -- so he's curious to see who else washed up onto the island's beaches. The tom picks up the scent of the other cats, as well as some other odd animals and, strangely enough, a human. He has no way of knowing whether or not the human belongs to Tessa and decides to ignore it for now in favor of the cats.

the cats of Káto Kósmos have access to two of the three known regions of the underworld; tartarus and the asphodel meadows. cats of Káto Kósmos are commonly not considered worthy enough to enter the space of elysium, which is the realm most aspired towards; this is considered the 'heaven' of the underworld where the residents who were the kindest or most heroic on earth get to spend their days in paradise. the higher ranking cats of Káto Kósmos often come from tartarus, which house's the worst perpetrators to endure endless punishments due to their evil characters. the majority of the clan is from the asphodel meadows, which is considered a realm of neutrality or indifference where the largest portion of cats would end up in the afterlife. the cats primary water source is lake acheron and its connecting river, the acheron river.

religion
instead of the traditional beliefs in & requesting aid from starclan and/or the dark forest, cats of Káto Kósmos instead turn to their primary deities of the underworld; Hades and Persephone. it is more common for the leader and overseer to speak to Hades, although the fixer often prefers speaking to Persephone. if a cat/couple wishes to become mates and try for undead kits, they must seek the approval of Persephone; only she has the power to allow this.

trouble (ie 'predators')
skirmishes for the cats often come in the form of fights with either prisoners of tartarus or the guards of tartarus. giants (such as the titans), demi-gods (half-children of the gods), and dragon-like snakes are some of the main threats to the clan, as these cats tend to be larger or have more powers than the cats of Káto Kósmos. the hydra was another threat to the cats as it resides within lake acheron & the attached acheron river, but typically would only attack those who tried to swim in its waters, or who remained at the water's edge for too long. cerberus is another major threat to the cats, for if they travel too close to the gates of the underworld, the three-headed dog will not hesitate to rip them apart.

"deaths"
because this clan is technically part of the underworld, these cats are already dead. when the 'death' of a cat is rolled for by the clan's mod, this essentially means that cat has been chosen to be reincarnated back onto earth and has ascended out of the underworld. they essentially no longer exist to the cats of Káto Kósmos, since these ascended cats are returned to the earthly plain rather than remaining underneath it all. for plot purposes, when a cat is reincarnated, it will be said that they went before the "three judges of the dead" who decided they were worthy of or ready for reincarnation.

During leafbare, queens and kits are more likely to die during birth, prey will be less abundant, and less cats will be found on patrol.
In addition, predators and sicknesses abound, waiting for the chance to pick off the weak.
All in all, it is best for a clan to be at full strength during this time.
