image from the ddr wiki I love rhythm games, but I'm kind of new to them and want to talk abt them to other people!
What kind of rhythm games do you dis/like? What do you dis/like in a rhythm game? Do you have any tips for particularly difficult ones, or getting started in arcade/dance-pad ones vs. controller/keybased ones? Songs you love, songs you don't?
Personally, I've played the recent MMD and Taiko No Tatsujin games on the switch, and have played a little bit of rhythm heaven, but I just got into stepmania (I was really looking for that early 2010s kinda electronic music like breakcore, etc.) and some of the more difficult levels are definitely daunting.
I'm also a little interested in getting into the arcade/dance-pad ones, but it seems a little hard to get into, and there's only one place with DDR machines in my city, not to mention Miss Rhona TT^TT

Hello! :>
I also like to play rhythm games here and there. I played a lot of Taiko too and really enjoyed it.
I eventually got into playing Muse Dash on steam, which I think is also on the switch? It's a lot like Taiko! But you jump up and down to hit the enemies, so it's simple. Muse Dash is probably my favorite. Osu is also a good one with different modes I recently tried. There's a taiko mode and just, any kind of rhythm game mode with it. You can play any song you want to on it which is a plus, as long as you download the music you want. Though I found it kind of hard, personally.
Crypt of the Necrodancer is also a very unique roguelike rhythm game :0
I've never tried any of the arcade dance ones but I've certainly played a lot of dance games with my xbox kinect as a kid. And a lot of guitar hero.
Sorry this is going on for so long :<
But I think my personal favorite type of rhythm game is like Musynx because it's a bit more of a challenge and helped improve my reaction time :>

ooooh I love the art styles of Muse Dash and Musynx! I've played Necrodancer a little with the boyf, roguelikes always make me a lil nervous in any genre, but the premise is really neat!
Osu definitely looks like it has really neat gameplay, and I really said ππ at the taiko mode, I'll def have to look into it!

hi! i've been trying to get into rhythm games (elite beat agents is probably my favorite) and i have a passing interest in ddr and other bemani stuff but i'm terribad at them and stuff other than ddr tends to not be accessible for americans ;_; necrodancer is a super good game though, even though i'm also bad at it
i'm basic and my favorite ddr song is probably DIVE or LOVEβ₯SHINE. i've been trying to get into pop'n music but i've only played a few times at my local con and the line was pretty long so i couldn't practice, but i love yuli's songs

oof yeah, my local small arcade got rid of their ddr machine a while back, and I think the only machines in my city are ones at a Dave and Busters. I think there's a pretty dedicated group of kids that are regulars there tho, when I went a while back they were on the machine for like an hour and they were way better so it was a little intimidating.
on the bright side, my brother and I found a pretty cheap non-slip dance pad on amazon that we're trying to mod for more stability, so hopefully we can try and practice without the mortifying ordeal of being perceived lol.
