”So… your name is Copper?” Conquest cocked his head to one side as he brought the young tom into the camp.
“Yessiree! I’m as young as they come, but no one can be like good ole Copper!” Copper’s thick British accent responded with joy. His brown fur shined in the daylight, his golden eyes twinkling. He turned to the broad oak trees with awe, his mouth gaped open. “Wow! These trees are bigger than the ones in my house!”
Conquest paused. “Your house?” He inquired, trying not to get tensed up.
“Yeah, my house! The trees there sit in small pots and are watered by my humans! They aren’t as big as the trees here…” Copper frowned for a moment.
How was Conquest going to break the news to him, that he couldn’t go back to his homefolk? It was going to be difficult for sure, but Copper could be of good use to him…
“Copper, let’s get you a nice place to sleep…” Conquest cooed as he guided Copper over to the fallen elm tree.

It's just after my kits' apprentice ceremonies, I'm so happy. They'll all have their rolls soon enough. I go to greet them before they head to the apprentice den. As I padded over they looked a tad bit sad. "What's going on?" I asked. "Will we not get to see you anymore?" Dewpaw looked up at me. "Oh course you'll get to see me, and I'll come visit you! I'm so proud." Their eyes lit up at my words. "Now get some rest." They nodded and went their separate ways.

”Remember to keep dodging!”

Samuel gritted his teeth at the instruction, before throwing himself to his right. The blunt paw of his sparring partner swiped through empty air, though as Samuel’s side scraped against the solid earth, he thought he would have been better off being hit by that.

“Move fast! Strike quick, flee quicker!”

‘I’m trying!’ Samuel thought as he scrambled to his paws. He darted in, kicking his opponent a few times, before turning to dart away. But before he could get any distance between them, a heavy weight landed on his spine, knocking him to the ground.

Panicking, Samuel flailed, trying to dislodge the weight, but it didn’t shift an inch. He tried to roll onto his back, find some purchase to fight back, but he couldn’t move an inch. Finally, exhausted, he went limp, panting. He made eye contact with Hailstar, who sighed.

“Alright. Take five.”

Samuel’s sparring partner, Nightmask, lifted his weight, allowing Samuel to get to his feet. Samuel limped over to the edge of the small clearing; his old wounds aggravated. Whatever had attacked him that day had clearly spooked Hailstar. He was having all the newer clan members learn additional battle tactics- ones suited for facing larger opponents.

Although Samuel had limited knowledge on clans, he knew BeetleClan had been around for a while. But then… why was it so small? Why did it take in any passer-by, just to get its numbers up? That didn’t strike him as normal clan behaviour.

Samuel watched Hailstar instruct a different pair of cats. He hoped someone would tell him what was going on soon.
