Tendril pounded after crow, flashing him a quick smile as he spoke. She sunk her claws into the soil with every step she took, making an effort to slow down before they reached their destination. Grass was uprooted as the she-wolf gradually paced herself to more of a fast trot. As she peered ahead, her ears flattened as her Mentor didn’t seem to slow down. “Wait, you’ll-” Tendril started, raising her voice in somewhat of a warning. Not getting to finish as it was already too late, the Trainee cut off her words and winced as Crow came into worryingly close contact with the boulder. She flicked her tail back and forth and halted abruptly, only a few feet away from the other wolf.
“Are you alright? That definitely was a close shave.” Tendril mused, glancing to the rock for a heartbeat.

Aala tags open

Aala watches the two pups one balck and one white and she smiles ant thinks ‘I’m gong for a walk’ she gets up and says to coral “coral want to join me for a walk?”

Coral tags Aala
The female looks at the balck wolf and says “sure i need to dpstreach my legs any way” she gets up and walks beside the small black wolf

Crow looked over to Tendril with a crooked smile.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Little shaken up, but I got here on my own four feet, so I can't complain about it too much." He explained and shook himself. What to teach, what to teach...He inhaled, ready to sigh, when his nose caught a scent on the wind. Ah, that was it!

"Alright, Tendril, today we're going to set off and work on identifying different animal scents. What's prey and what definitely isn't. When identifying scent trails, you first need to have some idea of what animal you're tracking. Predators, like us, or the coyotes that are apparently roaming around, thanks to Achak's negligence, will have a heavier muskier scent, while prey won't have that quality. When we get back to camp, we can sort through what's left of the prey pile and you can tell me the differences of what you can smell on them. Will you be able to tell which hunter caught which animal based on the scent on is body, or will it have gone cold?" He moved around the boulder and beckoned for Tendril to follow him as he continued with his lecture.

"Fresh or recently caught prey may still have the scent of the creature that caught it. Being able to identify what caught it, whether it was a wolf or something else, is just as important as knowing its prey scent, because that can be given to the beta or lead hunter to inform the alpha about what might be hunting prey on our territory." He explained. "The warriors were sent out to take care of the coyotes, so if we scent anything musky, we'll know to stay well away from them. Let's head down towards the river in the meantime. There should be plenty of prey scent there. In the meantime, can you tell me what prey scents you already know? And, if you feel confident enough to do so, how you can tell the difference between them?"

Striker nodded, the pup writhing in his mouth. “ stop” he said calmly to the pup, but he didn’t know if they could understand him.

Zeus lowered her nose to the throat of the deer, sending a small prayer to the sky-dogs.
Let me keep this scent in my nose long enough for us to find the criminals that stole our prey, that could have fed our packmates. She thought and inhaled deeply. She raised her head and nodded to Fish, knowing that she would follow, as she lowered her head and moved to follow the scent. She circled twice and then was off, having picked up the scent from where the intruders had brushed their fur against against a leafy bush, hanging with the same scent.

She didn't speak for fear of losing the scent, so she held her breath, held the scent in her muzzle as long as she could and began to hurry through the forest in order to locate the perpetrators.

Fish paused only a moment, lowering her head to gently lick the shoulder of the fallen deer, a silent gesture to honour the lost life of the creature. Even if it had not been felled by a Pack wolf, each life was precious, and especially since it had been dishonoured by its hunter, it was owed respect.

Then the grey Warrior lifted her head and followed Zeus, keeping just a bit behind her as not to allow her own scent to mix with that of the trespassers and lose the trail. Her gaze darted this way and that, trying to see if she could catch sight of the intruders, or any hints of where they might have gone, but she found nothing.

Lucas | Lightning Warrior Trainee | Location: Training Grove | Tagging: Leo (mentions: Shadow)

Lucas' heartbeat had slowed down as he retreated within himself. The wolf that stood now... well, by all accounts it was still Lucas, in body and with the training that he'd given by the Alpha, his trainer. When she gave the go ahead, the pale wolf looked evenly at the other wolf, sizing him up. He was larger, but that also meant that there was more spots to land a hit. The other wolf hadn't moved, was he waiting to get hit? How noble. Thought the wolf. How weak.

The wolf wasn't fast, but he was in no rush. This test wasn't to see how quickly he could dispatch his opponent, it was to see how much he'd learned... and to show case his own common sense. If his opponent was so eager to give up the first attack, he would take what advantages he could.

"I hope you know that if you were in a real fight, a Fire wolf would've turned your pretty white pelt red." He said as he began to walk casually towards his opponent. "Real enemies don't care about politely waiting for any noble causes, they just know that you're their enemy and need to be removed from the scenario altogether." There was something hard in Lucas' voice, some venom that might only be found in snakes or those who harbored certain memories that otherwise were left alone. "Do you need to be removed, Leo?"

Leo was...startled to say the least by the sudden change. He grinned, locking his eyes on his opponent. "Each Warrior has their own style," came the response, but Lucas was right. In a real battle, would Leo have waited? He didn’t know. Making the first attack made him uneasy for some reason, but if neither of them made it, they would just stand there forever.

So with that, Leo lunged forward. The grove was large enough that he had enough space to build up his speed, aiming simply to use the force behind that velocity to ram his side against his opponent's in hopes of using his greater size to his advantage.
