Kira's stomach was in knots, she couldn't bear it any more. She walked off, with Spike following, and went hunting.

Spike dashed in front of Kira, into their hunting grounds. He instantly picked up the scent of elk. They were close. He slowed his pace and saw the huge herd of elk centered in the plain of the field. He spotted an old buck, his time of death was very close. He lunged at it, and it fought and fought, not giving up. The rest of the herd running for their lives. Spike snapped on its neck, but it bucked forward before he could get there. He fell hard against the ground.

"Yes..." Witcher said quietly, "Our pack needs pups quite badly." He was worried for the endurance of the pack without young to replace the old.

"Spike, Spike!!!" Kira yelled. No reply. Kira panicked and wondered what to do. She nudged him with her paw, and still nothing. His eyes were closed, and his body life-less. He smelled like death, which is something she feared. She needed at least two in a pack. The stranger wolf! Her mind shouted. She pondered her thought through the tears she cried over Spike's body. She was one of the Night Runners though, would it work? She remembered that the acceptance was not official, but she had spoke with the pack, looking relaxed.
