You never really know what it's like to lose someone you love until it actually happens to you.

I lost my mom to cancer when I was 10 years old and at the moment she died, I also lost my childhood. I lost the chance to ever really be young and carefree and not have a problem in the world.

When someone who plays such a major part in your life passes away, you lose every chance at ever being completely happy. Because no matter how happy you may think you feel, their loss will always be at the back of your mind and in the middle of your heart, creating a hole that can never be filled.

The day she died, I was sitting in math class wishing to be anywhere else but there. Well, I got my wish.

My teacher reached for the telephone as it rang and her face grew into first a shocked expression, then just incredibly...incredibly sad. She quietly put down the phone and called my name.

"Bella? Would you mind joining me in the hall?" she asked. I stood up and nodded, not minding at all. Anything to get out of doing my work.

"Bella, your father is waiting for you in the office. He has...he has some news to share with you." my teacher said as I began to grow nervous, a giant knot forming in my stomach. I nodded again and began the long walk from the third floor down to the office. I imagined all sorts of tragic things that could have happened, but the news I was about to receive had never even crossed my mind and little did I know that my life was about to change forever in the worst way possible.

"Daddy? What's wrong? Why are you here?" I asked him as soon as I reached the office.

He looked up and the knot in my stomach tightened as I studied his red-rimmed eyes, full of tears. He gently sat me down next to him and took my small hand in his.

"Belles...I'm so sorry...your mother passed away this morning."

My blood turned to ice and my entire body froze and went rigid with shock. For what seemed like an eternity, my mind went black and I closed my eyes as his words repeated themselves to me over and over again. Suddenly, like a tidal wave, the reality of those words hit me and I collapsed against my father in grief as I sobbed and sobbed until both my throat and eyes burned and I had no more tears to cry.

Oh wow, completely forgot to comment on your story, Aqua.
Your stories are always so sweet and touching. You don't overload them with ridiculously big words or a million little details, you tell them perfectly. I think that's what makes them so heart breaking.
And I'm really sorry for your loss. <3

I saw her at a barrel racing tournement. who wouldn't she was the only one dressed up for a ball. She had the palest blonde hair I'd ever seen, and her manicure was perfect. I was a dusty old cowboy with roots nowhere. I was carrying my drink when I ran into her. Her top was ruined, and she began to cry. "What's wrong?" I asked.
I came here to see the man I fell in love with in highschool. And instead of a hug and kiss hello, he dumps hiss drink on me. "Bethany?" I said, stunned. I picked her up, and swung her around. The joy I felt flooded me. A little boy ran up, and tugged her shirt. " Mommy, ICan I have... Who is he?"
"Jeff, this is your son, Anthony."

A year later, Beth died of cancer. Her only regret, she said, was that she never told me about Tony before then. Tony is an adult now, with a lovely wife, and several kids.
But me, I've never loved another besides beautiful Bethany.

I was there to be pretty. Not to learn, but be there simply to pass the time. Fater paid the teachers to give me A's and 100 on tests that I bombed. I was the rich girl they all envied. You would think that I'm snobby, and stuck up. But I'm not. Nobody's behind me. I'm only skin- deep. They say I have eveything, but truly, I have nothing. I crave friends, and I want aceptance. I keep to my self, untill today, Today, I was ready to learn.

She was the one they all loved. The boys would go after her, but she didn't even bat an eye. Girls wanted to be her. She seemed to go around school in a daze. Like, her body's here, but her mind a million miles away. She was the rich girl. Since she never seemed to hear, or see anyone, she got the rap about being the snobby rich girl. The girls spread nasty rumors about her. Me? Girls came after me, but I just wasn't intrested. Call me a clishe, but I wanted Jenive. I wanted to see the real her. To show the girls that she wasn't snobby. But me? Lots of the jocks would laugh at me. I'm just a boy from the projects, and I don't play any sports. I'm fit, I have a six pack, but I dress differenty from mainsteam. Mostly because the stuff is from the Salvation Army. I was prepared, but not all the time.

Seeing how I was never paying attention, I was mildly surprized when I walked into math class to see a bunch of smart people. They looked at me oddly, and went back to their warm up. Daddy musta paid a lot for me to get into this class I thought to myself, and ploped into a desk. I placed my bag down, seeing It carried all my poems I write when I day dream.

"Excuse me miss, but you're in my seat."

A wonderfuly smooth, deep voice said behind me. I swiveled around to see a handsome boy standing there. The whole class seemed to lean in. They've all heard of me, but I never spoke so they never hear my voice. I could just imagine them putting bets on what I would do.

"I... ... I'm so sorry. I didn't know this was your seat. As you can see, I'm new to this class."

I said, stuttering and making myself look like a fool.

No no, it's fine. But can I sit next to you?"

He asked, guesturing to the empthy seat next to me.

"Sure, nobody's sitting next to me anyway."

I said, looking down. He threw down his torn and dirty brown bookbag. I wanted to do something, so I looked down at the warm up. As I was "working" I snuck glances at the boy. He looked like he was from the projects, in a good way. He was on the cute side, with his slightly messed up fur, and his different clothes.

"Ummm, this is a little weird fro me, but what's your name?"

I asked in a whisper. He looked up at me with surprize on his face.

"M....m.... My name?

He asked, looking stunned now.

"Of course you. who else would I be talking to?"

I said with a little snicker in my voice. The whole class seemed to pick up on our conversation. They were all holding their breaths, like if they dared to breathe, they would miss something. The boy, seeming to recover from his shock answered me.

"My name is Greyscale."

He said smoothly. I knotice he didn't ask what mine was. But oh well. Atleast there's a name for a face in the crowd now.

All I remember about my night is my dream. I was falling. Falling for eternity. Waiting for the end to come, to die from this endless black. But them I heard a scream. A horriable, blood-curling scream. I look to my left. There's Jenive, falling next to me. I try to grasp the walls of black around me, but dirt falls away. "GREYSCALE! PLLEASE DON'T LET GO!" I grabbed her hand, and held on tight. We would go through it together. I woke up, sweating. Dirt was all over my sheets. What?

(I know, Melody has been in a story already, but I felt like.. She didnt belong in it, so Im putting her here. They seem like a much better couple.

I stare at her from across the classroom, each time she looks back I squint and my head flies the other way. Every time she returns her beautiful lilac orbs to the front, I continue my staring. I know, it seems really creepy and stalker-ish, but I cant stop. Her beautiful fur shines like wood, like she was carved by angels. And I bet she doesnt even know I exist -- Well, Today, I was wrong. After class, She walked up to me and said hi. I reddened, looking down at my Nikes shoes. She was about to say something else when I was called into the hall. "Balto, you have a phonecall." Mrs. Silljer Said, looking unconfident and sad. I wondered why, but simply took the phone and held it to my Black, shining ear. "Yeah?" I asked, as my father's voice popped up. "Hey, sport," He said. "Your little sister is in the hospital." I gasped for breath, not believing. "Why?" I asked. He sighed. "She fell out of a window." I started to bawl. I loved Anne So much... Why her? "What hieght?" I asked, leaning against the wall and soon falling to the floor. I got up quickly and sat in my seat. I could here him crying too. "Maybe two stories, I wasnt there to witness it." He replied between sobs.
