"That's..that's interesting. Usually, friendships dwindle after a year or two. Eh, that could just be my experience." he twined his tail. "Either way, my deputy is named Harespring. Im glad he's joined and took the position; he's a great deputy so far."

He nodded. "i wouldn't exchange my position for anything. Im still learning; learning about how each cat has strengths in everything. We've had three cats join the clan so far, and Ive sent them both on hunting and border patrols. I am yet to know what there strengths are; the gathering came first." He looked up at the trees. "But either way, it's a good experience. For all of us."

Not, because they are blind,” he added quickly, “but because Shrikepounce, one of them, is fairly new to our clan and for other reasons chose to stay behind, and Stormkit, is, well, a kit. They’re both very remarkable cats, you should see how Stormkit runs around with his littermates.” He chuckled. “What about you? Are you the only blind cat in your clan?”

Rookstar couldn’t help but laugh at the way Cypressstar acted. He seemed so carefree and settled, as if nothing ever bothered him. “Our nursery is positively overflowing with kits right now. Not the best circumstances, considering that it’s leafbare, but all our queens seem healthy and happy to have their families. I’ve watched so many of our younger mothers grow up,” he sighed, thinking of Pipistrellecave and Whimbreleyes. Both had been born into the Clan, and Rookstar had watched both become respectable members of the Clan.

Chasmstar jerked her attention back to Ploverstar. “You are doing wonderfully. I joined ChessClan as a kit, butI understand where you’re coming from. I’ve welcomed several former kittypets into my Clan, and they all prove themselves worthy. You’re still learning, so of course you’ll make mistakes. I still make mistakes. Don’t blame yourself because you’re still proving yourself. StarClan is proud of you, Ploverstar,” Chasmstar murmured, daring to lean closer and press herself to Ploverstar’s side. She wanted to comfort this molly to the best of her ability, and she wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was because the fears Ploverstar was expressing were the same fears she had.

“I’ve been deputy for about ten moons now. I’ve welcomed countless new members and countless kits, but I’ve been a member of my Clan for just about forty moons. I’d like to say I knew every cat, but that’s a complete lie. Several younger cats are beyond my reach,” he chuckled, remembering the several apprenti that seemed to put him on a pedestal and worship him. “I agreed to stay as Tour until the true Tour, Freuxfreckle, finished raising his adopted son. He’s recently adopted a daughter, though, so I may stay on a little longer,” he sighed, remembering Freuxfreckle’s loud cries during Pluvierpetal’s naming ceremony.

Wolfwhiskers chuckled, knowing several cats who fit that description in his Clan. “Scare them into being more careful,” he joked, and then perked up. “You said your training wasn’t quite finished. How are your herb stores?” he asked, worried about of Bumbleflight had taught Pumpkinseed how to store and ration herbs during the cold months in which they didn’t grow. It was a hard task he needed to teach Faonpaw soon.

Faonpaw smiled down at Bramblingpaw and sighed, hoping the night would never end. Maybe she’d see her again at a later Gathering. “Now I know why Valleyrunner loves to gossip with the older cavalier,” she chuckled, referencing the common statement that all elders liked to gossip and talk about other cats behind their back.

Ourspaw grinned happily at mention of his sister. “She isn’t here, but I can bring her to another Gathering to introduce you two! There’s always a bunch of apprenti in ChessClan, so I could never imagine training alone,” he chuckled, knowing how many times he’d sparred with apprenti older and stronger than he was. He relied on their snores to put him to sleep each night, and the absence of that scared him.

Oiseaupaw chuckled and ducked his head with a blush. “Family is one of the best things that’s ever existed, even if it drives you madder than a hare sometimes,” he rolled his eyes, remembering how nervous and annoying Violindapple could be sometimes. He’d still never met his father or his supposed numerous siblings, but that was just fine to him.

Nuitpelt chuckled at Quickflow’s words. “I feel you, Quickflow. The sea sounds beautiful, and it’s a place I hope to one day encounter. Living in that little valley protects us, forcing predators and enemies to go through treacherous territory to reach us, but it also traps us and makes it hard to get out. The sea just sounds so... free,” he sighed, his voice trailing off and his eyes unfocusing as he daydreamed.

They’d never witnessed such evil in the world, and so they were positively stunned by how horrible a single cat could be. “I can’t believe he would do that. It’s not okay,” they whispered.

The tom was lost in thought about plans for new places for the border patrols to check. He wandering around the mass of cats, not paying much attention to those around him. He could feel his brown furrowing, starting to get a stressed headache. However, his attention was caught by a sweet smell. He looked up and his eyes landed on a beautiful brown molly. He kept quiet, staring for a moment. Before he could stop himself from bothering her, his mouth seemed to move without him forcing it to. "Hello there." He said with a small smile. He gulped, hoping to not look stupid.

He shuffled his paws awkwardly, looking up towards the sky to occupy himself. Quietcove felt a little lost in the crowd of cats, thinking of his old friend Shell. He found himself missing her a bit, feeling comforted by her company.

She had heard about gatherings in her old clan, remembering how her mate was excited coming back from them. Most of her memories of Jungleclan had only been in camp, pregnant with her five kits. She smiled as she made eye contact with a few cats, yet she didn't have enough courage to start up a conversation with them. She shuffled her paws awkwardly, looking up towards the sky to occupy herself.

The tom was actively avoiding this father's gaze, knowing he would disapprove of him mingling instead of listening to his lecture about the meaning of these gatherings. He looked across at the cats, wondering how their clans were. Did they have Chiefs and Heirs? What tactics did their Hunters and Guardians use? Even the ideas of other clans were much of a mystery to him, since his clan wasn't really close to any others.
