Staff Litter 2020 Discussion Thread

I've been v happy with this whole litter, especially for the dogfish outcomes, since I collect them, lol. Always cool to get new ones. Impressed by all the awesome designs this year

I started reviewing all my guesses for wolfbane, including tonight’s outcome. One of my earliest guesses was this:


I am pretty sure that the lynx pup is wolfbane’s

But then there was a hidden text in an answer about what ur pet would you design: or an eastern dragon, wink wink

as well as answering the question how does your pup smell? Incense!

which would make one think that wolfbane designed an easter dragon and not the lynx. However, I found this information today


Native American Lynx Mythology

The dreaded Water Panther, a dragon-like aquatic monster of Eastern Woodlands mythology, is associated with the lynx in some northern tribes within this region (whose name for the creature has the literal meaning "Great Lynx.")

So I really do believe the lynx is wolfbane’s pup


I reviewed all my guesses again and came back to this pet. Maybe it is just because of the dressup. But regardless, I looked into it a bit more into this guess and found this from Dragon Mania Legends - the Lynx Dragon



and here is the baby lynx dragon



Perhaps this is nothing, but the markings on the lynx and the lynx’s nose reminds me of this baby lynx dragon, so once again I’m guessing this as wolfbane’s. wolfbane didn’t deny this guess, but said

I have a feeling that this pup may belong to wolfbane. ?

Both are some lovely lovely theories, but my hints are very much on the nose!
I will say that one of my hints is crucial to when you'll see the outcome.
Don't overthink it and happy guessing!

The second pup is chevreuil’s. This one is still unclaimed. I’m probably way off base, but this is my guess once again.

besides, I got to post these adorable images of the lynx dragon, so even if I’m wrong, which I probably am, at least it was fun looking at this again


Also, I think tonight’s dog may be saikiyo’s representing Artemis - she often depicted as a huntress carrying a Bow & Arrows. The deer, wolves, and the cypress were sacred to her.

I like this year's theme, but am crossing my fingers for a galaxy litter next year!

Something has been nagging me about Yugi's clues. Just wondering if there was something else we missed earlier and I'm looking at the little cupid pup and noticing one of the tufts of fur at the top of it's head bears a striking resemblance to a small horn... adding that to the other things that made this one of my top three choices (and the fact that the other two have since been claimed make me want to rethink the theory that this might actually be Yugi's pup.

so with eyes closed at pup stage, features that make me think of Yugi's previous staff dog, (and the fact the other two pups I was looking at have been claimed), a tail hinting at a Capricorn type dog or an Eastern dragon type outcome, or maybe even a kirin, and potentially teeny little horns as a precursor to the ones Yugi has suggested the adult dog will have (also features of dragon and kirin).

Maybe I'm missing something though because the image clues both in and not listed on the hint chart suggest a 9-tailed wolf - unless it was the mythological creature aspect - but Yugi is this enough to put us out of our misery and claim or deny this puppy please?

This is my first staff litter and these are some of the most gorgeous and most detailed pups i’ve seen so far! I love the colours and designs and all the staff have done brilliant jobs! I’m excited to see the rest of mine grow!

On Discord, I stated that I thought this was Saikiyo’s dog, and Saikiyo responded:

I did a bit more research and came up with this:

this is probably what the tie in is - An element of the earlier myth made Actaeon the familiar hunting companion of Artemis
