I don’t believe having a premium option is a good idea in my opinion. One of the things that has made cs so lovely and popular is that it’s free to play for everyone, and there is no way for somebody to pay and get an advantage over other players. There is the ability to buy C$, but that doesn’t give a significant advantage over those who do not have the money to buy C$.
I actually have left sites that have implemented a serious premium feature. For example, poke farm used to be an entirely different site, and be much easier for the free users to get valuable stuff and hunt for shinies and such. Now on the pokefarm q site, I personally find it a lot more difficult to get the things I want and have a good time getting them without paying for hypermode or ZC. Games that make it significantly easier to play when people pay money is not very fun fo those who can’t pay that money.
Not to mention that a lot of the users on this site are children or younger teens, and not all of them can simply ask their parents for money to buy in game things, so I feel like it would be unfair for them especially since CS originally started out to be geared towards younger people.

I just want major QOL Updates people have been wanting for years. I am majorly disappointed in how long some people (myself included) who have fought for simple QOL fixes. Many of them aren't even particularly hard to do add in as some of them are literally plugins for the forum. I do hope there can be more coders or designers added to the team soon.
I also think it would be cool to have more things to do with C$ as I agree there isn't a lot at the moment besides items and pets. TBH I don't know what that would look like, but I was thinking of being able to buy "premium" subscriptions to CS and get some sort of reward? Maybe even something cool like a custom forum vista?
Just some ideas. Hope that many of these things can be implemented.
I definitely think there should be a "premium" subscription option. They could show rarities in the Pound or increase the adoption limit. Idk. *Something* would be nice. I do not think they should sell though. I'd be nervous Ubisoft or some other giant company could acquire the site and make it a profit-driven nightmare.
The only thing with 'premium' content is: this site is dominated by children. parents likely aren't going to want to buy their kids a membership/premium account thing for a forum game, over say animal jam or club penguin (rip club penguin) for example. im not a parent, but if i were, id be more comfortable with my child having membership/premium benefits for a site without forums. mostly for online safety reasons. that's the prime reason, as a kid, my family didn't buy me c$. they didn't like the fact that i was interacting with strangers on the internet.
while one could say you interact with strangers on animal jam or club penguin too, it was no where near to the extent you can here. on animal jam, as far as i know, parents are able to limit their child's chat options and what not. here, it's hard to do that. only thing is COPPA, but that only applies to a certain age group. And of course, parents views differ too, maybe some would on a special occasion like birthdays or something (I often got animal jam membership for my bday as a kid), but I still don't see it being popular. Kids might want the premium content, but we also have to consider the parents who would be paying for it.
I just don't see it as a possibility. I don't think CS has enough to offer for a premium account/membership type of thing, that and I just don't see it as something that would happen at any point. And like hatchspawn said, I worry some new site owner would only use it for profit and let the site go down the toilet. Sometimes, premium content is the downfall of a site. I've seen it happen, the only times members were cared about is if they HAD said premium content, otherwise you were left in the dust n what not.
while it would be neat to see, I worry it could also cause a rift in players. what I mean is, i noticed in animal jam, that players with membership acted like they were "better" then non members, that they should be held on some pedestal because they get benefits non members don't. I remember once, a member referred to me as a "peon" and a "lower life form". Of course, I'm not saying EVERYONE with a premium account will act this way, but some might and it can cause more problems then benefits in the long run. We are already a huge userbase and I can't imagine how many reports of bad behavior come in daily. I couldn't imagine how many more would come in with this premium content.
Another worry is, some games implement SO MUCH premium content, they become unplayable without paying for said premium content. I have, as usual, seen it before. When I was a kid, I played foo pets, and at first it was free, but eventually it got to the point where the premium membership was required to even f e e d my damn pet! I doubt CS would get this way, but it HAS happened.
Maybe, in a non premium content way, we could get forum vistas like flight rising has. that'd be neat! Maybe one you can customize to show off favorite pets and each event they could come out with themed ones and what not. But that'd also likely require the site to be updated to the newer PHBB boards, and I'm honestly not sure if PHBB can run something like forum vistas. Either way though, it's a neat idea! I doubt I'll be around anymore to see it if it were to be implemented,
I do agree though on the QOL updates, some are absolutely simple plugins that likely wouldn't be hard to implement.

ooohh, that would be so cool! if we had forum vistas. that could be a really neat thing to add to the C$ store. that and more customization options. i love expressing myself through profiles, and would definitely pay up for another box to go with my signature and stamp collection. i'd also be willing to pay for special stamps for the stamp collection.
i would love to see more in the C$ store. maybe more items each month to go with the bi-monthly store pets, you know?

IF YOU DECIDE TO CHARGE A SUBSCRIPTION,you will have plenty of members now,who will have to quit.Enough people live on low or fixed incomes. IF you are in an age group to still have parents,ALL. MEMBERS CONSIDER THIS: The world is rapidly turning into two basic categories, those who have money and those who DO NOT. THAT'S IT.
Deciding to turn Chicken Smoothie into another "Pay,or don't play."website,is really contributing to the notion that you MUST HAVE MONEY NO MATTER HOW YOU GET IT.There is a whole big place,in one nation where every single bit of Nature needs to have money.IF you fish,or clam,or ride a bike, swim, row a boat, camp out,go walking in a forest,or sit on a beach,YOU HAVE TO PAY A FEE.
It is rapidly turning into that every where.Making Chicken Smoothie that way also is a sad sad world.
This is the best website!

I'm returning here after a long hiatus, and I haven't been in the community long enough to know the history well enough.
But I will say that I feel like forums, in general, are dying. I love being able to post at my own pace, and not having to worry about topics falling off a wall. Creativity and custom user names, all that jazz. I kinda just don't want forums to die.
People have jumped ship into Discord and Facebook Groups.
Bees, bees, bees, bees!

agreeing hard with this statement. paying has always been an option and strictly for cosmetics. it shouldnt be implemented in a pay to play way.
