No deaths for now please, other than stillborn kits! i have a plot i'll be setting in motion soon, and i assure all of you bloodthirsty people out there, there will be enough deaths as it is!

Camp was quiet this morning, as Asterflight slipped out of the warrior’s den. Yawning she padded over to the nursery where Mothflutter lay just outside, swiping a paw over her face to clean her long muzzle.
Mothflutter smiled at Asterflight and the Blue she-cat sat down beside her mate.
“Good morning Mothflutter. How are you?”
“I’m alright. The kits will be born soon. This moon is what Ridgepelt said.” The orange and white queen responded. Asterflight nodded.
“Have you seen Candleflicker or Canaryglow yet?” Asterflight asked.
The oriental queen shook her head. “No, I haven’t though I did see Blizzardfoot slip out of camp earlier this morning. Or not. I might have just dreamed it, it was pretty early.” She chuckled.
Asterflight smiled, getting to her feet.
“I’ll go find him.” She mewed.
Wandering through the misty woods, Asterflight took a deep breath, enjoying the cool air. The sun was strangely absent this morning, obscured by thick clouds. Hopefully it meant rain. Ridgepelt and Spruceleaf has been complaining about the herbs beginning to crisp up and dry.
Asterflight was brought out of her thoughts by voices drifting through the trees. Curiosity led her towards them and though she knew it was wrong to eavesdrop, she wanted to know more.
A smile crossed her face as she recognized Blizzardfoot’s voice and she quickened her pace a little bit.
But then she hesitated. Stopping a few pawsteps away, still obscured from view, she heard a second voice.
“... take care of them. The little she-kit is Bonfirekit and the Tom is Flarekit.” A female voice mewed, sounding worried.
“Don’t worry. I will.” Blizzardfoot said.
Peering through the brush, Asterflight’s fur stood on end as she surveyed the scene. Blizzardfoot’s white pelt stood out like a bear in a flock of ducks and beside him was a strange she-cat and two kits. She hissed softly. What was he doing with a rogue? Or worse, a cat from another clan?
Sinking her claws into the grass she watched as the kits tumbled around and Blizzardfoot and this stranger kept talking.
“I have to go now.” The she-cat said. Blizzardfoot sighed.
“I should too. Will I see you again.” He asked.
“Maybe at gatherings. I love you.”
“I love you too.” He said sadly. “I’ll take good care of them.”
The she-cat merely nodded then sprinted off. Blizzardfoot looked down at the kits.
“Alright you two. Let’s head back.” He turned to leave but Asterflight stalled out of the bushes.
Blizzardfoot’s eyes widened. He stepped back.
“Asterflight! I-“
“Shut up.” She snarled. “I’ve seen enough.”
“I’m so sorry—“ he started. She whirled around.
“No you’re clearly not!” She roared. “It’s too damn late for your half-hearted apologies!”
“Are-are you going to tell Featherstar?” He stammered. “Please they’re so young!”
“No. But you, me, the others, we’re done.” She snapped. Furious, she added. “I hope you know that the most dangerous cat to your kits, is you.” She stalked away, wincing slightly as he growled.
“I don’t need any of you! We never loved each other! Maybe you and Mothflutter loved each other, but me, Canaryglow and Candleflicker, have no one.”
“So be it.” She snarled and stormed off, leaving him standing there alone.

Tawnyheart padded through the misty forest down to the stream, the half-moon’s light on her back. Two days ago Blizzardfoot had brought his kits back and chaos had followed. But it had gotten her thinking. How many other mateships we’re close to crumbling. She knew that Cypressclaw and Flamepelt were on thin ice, Cypressclaw not wanting any more kits, Flamepelt hoping for some and Firepaw caught up in the middle of his parent’s fight. Surprisingly in the midst of all this chaos and mistrust, Fleetrunner and Heatherbreeze had grown much closer now, and the two she-cats might someday become mates.
Thinking back to her own rushed mateship she wondered if her and Wolftail were as stable as they thought. Leaping over a log, she realized they really hadn’t spoken much since Larkbounce and Ivytuft’s warrior ceremonies. He became more and more busy with his duties as deputy and they both agreed more kits was not something they could handle so... now what. She paused. She truthfully didn’t know anymore. She’d been so certain that they were meant to be together, that she didn’t really consider whether they should be together. She hated being a queen. She loved her kits but she loved her freedom. Being able to run and hunt and fight. Being a warrior was who she was. Not a mother. At least not a good one. She’d been distant at best from her kits.
As Tawnyheart thought it over she began to realize. She never should have been a mother. Nearing the stream she looked down at her reflection. Scars marked her pelt. Her face naturally turned down to a frown.Her ear was torn from a battle from her youth long-forgotten.
Ripples stirred the water as a tear slipped down her cheek. why she thought. It was the only thing that mattered. The clan had been so small. It needed kits. She’d been confident that serving her clan was the right choice. But she hated it and her kits suffered as a result.
Sighing she looked at her reflection again. Her face was screwed up into a sob and she snarled. Swiping at the water with her claws she turned away, fuming. This was what motherhood had done to her. It made her anxious and depressed and nervous.
She needed her freedom. Badly. She needed to be free from all distractions and she knew what that meant. Turning, she bounded through the woods, dodging brambles and roots leaping around stone and over logs. When she reached camp panting she fought to catch her breath as she pushed through the thickets into the entrance.
Thankfully Wolftail was sitting alone, eating fresh-kill.
Trotting up to him, she mewed breathlessly, “Wolftail, we need to talk, please come with me.”
Once they were a little ways away from camp, she sat down on the mossy ground and wrapped her tail over her paws to keep it from twitching with agitation.
As she explained everything, Wolftail listened intently, but she could see the sadness in his eyes. “So, you see. I need this. I need my freedom back. I...” she took a deep breath. “I don’t think we should be mates anymore. I need to be free and I think... I think you do too.” She finished.
Wolftail paused. Finally he nodded and opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. Sighing he tried again, “I understand.” He croaked. “But... if you ever need me, I’ll still be here for you, as a friend.”
Tawnyheart smiled. “Thank you.” She said and touched his paw with the tip of her tail. “To freedom.”
“To freedom.” He echoed.

Raven followed Goldenfur, Flamepelt, Thrushwhisker, Heatherbreeze and Juncopaw through the territory, eyes dropping. He’d done his best to get on every patrol he could. His Mother was still out there, and he needed to find her. Somewhere Smoke was in the woods and she was probably looking for him, Crow and his dad. He wondered if she’d had her second litter yet, or if she was still expecting. He yawned. It was going to be strange having little siblings. Crow had been born first and alway liked to lord it over him. He loved her nonetheless. She was very smart, having tracked him for a while noon on her own. Since his family had been shattered by two-legs he’d been looking for them one by one, hoping that someday things could go back to normal.
A touch on the shoulder from Heatherbreeze shocked him out of his trance and he looked up at the dilute torture she-cat. “You alright Raven? You’re practically asleep on your paws!” She chuckled.
“Yeah.” He mewed. “Just didn’t get much sleep.”
Heatherbreeze’s gaze softened. “Worrying about your mother?” She mewed sympathetically. Raven nodded. “Well,” she huffed, “from what you’ve told me she sounds like one of the toughest cats ever.”
Raven smiled. “Yup.”
“Kind of like your dad then eh?” She inquired.
Raven frowned. He didn’t like his father much. Shadow had always liked Crow more. Both his parents had been tough rogues and Crow was a natural born warrior. To Shadow, Raven was to scared to fight. “I guess.”
“Not so sure about your old man, huh? Well if it helped my dad never really liked me either. Me and my brother weren’t really supposed to be born.” Heatherbreeze admitted.
Raven looked over at her. “You have a brother?” He asked.
Heatherbreeze nodded. “He’s dead. Or not. I don’t know. He went missing many moons ago.”
“I’m so sorry.” Raven mewed. He couldn’t imagine what it would be like if he lost Crow. She may be rough, but she was his sister, right?
Heatherbreeze shrugged and smiled again. “That’s alright. Nothing I can really do about it now, eh?”
Raven sighed. “Yeah. I—“ he was cut off by a yawn.
Heatherbreeze laughed. “Hey, why don’t you finish that thought tomorrow? I’m sure Goldenfur won’t mind if I take you back to camp to get some rest.”

Greywing walked through the undergrowth with Thrushwhisker. Her mate insisted on coming despite her protests and though Greywing was glad of the company she would have preferred to go alone.
“You know I would have been fine on my own.” She repeated. Thrushwhisker looked at her.
“Maybe yes, but you’re expecting kits, I’m not taking any chances. I’m not gonna lose you.”the brown she-cat persisted. Greywing rolled her eyes, but she was grinning.
“Fine.” She chuckled. “Let’s go to the stream.”
They walked together, discussing things quietly, like names for their kits, or whatnot when the two Mistyclan she-cats stopped.
“It’s so shallow.” Thrushwhisker murmured, batting at the water with a forepaw. The stream had dried up significantly after so long without rain. She remembered The medicine cat’s complaints of dead herbs and dry moss, but she’d dismissed it so quickly. Now that she realized it she couldn’t stop. The ferns and grass were all shriveled and crispy at the edges. She’d seen greenleaf get hot but never like this.
“Strange.” She murmured. Padding forwards she took a closer look at the stream. It’s normal soothing babble had been reduced to a choked bubbling. Reaching out a paw, she barely grazed the surface of the water when her head flooded with strange images.
Burning cattails, the mists turned blood red around her, unnatural smells flooded her nose, deafening noises all around her. Everything moved so fast but she was hyperaware, like a squirrel, every detail magnified so much her head hurt and her vision swam. She was in unfamiliar woods, her heart beating so loud, fleeing. The sky was black with clouds and the grass beneath hr paws crumbled to dust. A deafening roar blocked out all her senses and a big yellow two-leg monster bore down on her, steel-trap jaws stretched wide.
“Greywing!” Thrushwhisker shouted. Greywing blinked. She was lying on the ground, her mate standing over her, fear in her blue eyes.
“What happened?” The gray queen asked, shaking violently.
“You touched the water then you collapsed, shaking and writhing on the ground, hissing at nothing!” Thrushwhisker stammered. Greywing tried to stand but her legs gave out, Thrushwhisker rushing forwards to catch her.
“Let’s get back to camp.” Greywing said weakly.
Back in the medicine den, Greywing described her vision to Ridgepelt.
“What to you think it means?” The gray and white medicine cat asked, looking slightly disturbed. Greywing took a shaky breath.
“It means,” Greywing swallowed. “That a terrible danger like none we have ever know is coming to Mistyclan.” She locked eyes with Ridgepelt, “ and it could destroy us all.”

Welcome to Runningclan, young leader.
We will tell you all you need to know, simply listen.

Here in Runningclan, we live on the open, flowering moor. Every color imaginable will be at your paws every newleaf. Warrens will dot the grounds like stripes on a tabby, and you will learn to run free and avoid these holes. You will live in the large sets for dens, sleeping in the open under the sky and stars that gives us strength. You will learn to chase the prey and predator with vigilance, with power, with confidence. You will learn that here.

Here in Runningclan, the threats are ever present. You will find the aggressive fox and badger, the swooping hawk and eagle. You will defend yourself from these threats, and thrive on the prey.
Here, field mice, voles, and rabbits are common. If you are lucky you may strike yourself the uncommon hare, and if you find a lucky clover among the flowers, you might find a pheasant or starling.

The other cats describe us as cowardly and skiddish, but we believe ourselves free to live our own lives. We are swift and adaptable, and we rise and fall with the hills we call our home. Every flower, no matter how heavily it wilts, will bloom eventually. Do you feel the wind sweeping your fur against you? That is what freedom feels like. Relish it with every tuft of your pelt.

Many moor herbs live in this meadow, but you will always see the ever present goldenrod and raspberry bush.

You, my young leader, will hold the meadow and the sky in your paws.

It was a peaceful morning in BrookClan camp. Cinderstar felt relief at the fact she had a medicine cat to care for her new Clanmates and smiled at Pumpkincrackle as he sorted the few herbs he had. She tried to ignore his height and how tiny he must feel among the rest of his Clan. Rolling over, she spotted Pigeonpaw heading into the forest with her mentor, Honeyblaze. The three new cats had been found by Sunshade a moon before, but never said where they were from. Perhaps they were ancestors of cats that had lived in this territory many, many seasons ago?

Froststar
Froststar paced at the bottom of the medicine tree. She'd been waiting for what seemed like forever to talk to Maplecloud, but now that the sun had finally gone down and everyone had gone to sleep, she was having second thoughts. Maybe she was okay. Maybe she wasn't pregnant. She tried desperately to convince herself of this, but in her heart, she knew it wasn't true. She finally swallowed her pride and scaled the medicine tree up to Maplecloud's hollow.

"Maplecloud?" Froststar whispered as she took a couple of steps into the entrance of the hollow. She saw the dark she-cat sleeping in the back corner and lightly pawed at her.
"What?!" Maplecloud hissed, still half asleep.
"I'm sorry, Maplecloud, but I need to talk to you," Froststar meowed. Maplecloud paused as she noted the worry in her leader's voice. She sighed and shook the sleep out of her fur as she sat up.
"Of course," Maplecloud meowed sleepily, "what happened? Did you have a vision from Starclan?"
"No..." Froststar looked down at her paws as she struggled to find her words, "I... at the gathering... do you remember that mysterious bengal tom?"
"Yes?" Maplecloud leaned in, "Do you think he's a threat?"
"No, no" Froststar shook her head, "Listen, during the gathering, he and I got talking... and... it might've gotten a little... out of hand." she blurted out. Maplecloud looked at her with a blank expression.
"You what?!" Maplecloud finally exclaimed, "Out of hand?! You're the leader! You're not supposed to let things get 'out of hand'!"
"Maplecloud, hush!" Froststar hissed, "It was an accident, I didn't mean for it to happen, but he was just so charming, and now... now I don't know what to do." she meowed as she started to break down. "You have to help me Maplecloud, please, tell me what to do." Maplecloud took a step back. She'd never seen her leader like this and it was a bit of a shock. She watched as Froststar paced around the hollow, her breathing rapidly increasing.

Maplecloud sighed, "Calm down," she meowed, "we need to figure this out."
"The clan can't find out." Froststar said, the worry in her voice continuing to grow, "They would lose all respect for me."
"Are you sure? You'd be willing to give your kits away to keep the respect of your clan?" Maplecloud questioned her.
"Absolutely," Froststar meowed without hesitation, "I'm their leader, it's my duty to them and to Starclan to lead them and I can't do that if they don't respect me."
"Yes, but-" Maplecloud started.
"No." Froststar cut her off, "My duty is to my clan. Nothing will come before that. Nothing." she repeated.
Maplecloud hung her head, "Okay... we'll have to find a surrogate then. Leafwhisker just got pregnant, but she'll give birth almost a moon before you."
"We'll just have to make it work." Froststar, now fully composed once again and her mind set, stood tall and walked confidently out of the hollow. She waited until she got back to her nest to break down again.
