━━The ginger and white tabby slinked through the shadows cast by the trees, as quiet as a whisper. Her dull amber gaze scanned the undergrowth, her long whiskers twitching as she glanced to and fro in search of anything that seemed unusual. Her tail swayed back and forth as she padded alongside the others, occasionally glancing over her shoulder before returning her gaze to the rest of the territory. Border patrols weren’t the most exciting thing in clan-life, but they were something that was vital to the clan’s survival. Border patrols were important nonetheless and if no one ever checked the borders, threats could easily sneak in without any notice. Something that Marigoldmask wasn’t going to allow to happen.

━━Duskcloud laid in camp, his lime green gaze narrowed as it flickered around the camp. Most cats were already up and about, though Duskcloud hadn’t busied himself with a single task as of yet. The tom’s tail swayed slowly as he watched the cats chat among each other, laying his head on his paws as he let out a quiet sigh. He closed his eyes for a moment before re-opening them, continuing to watch the clan out of boredom.

━━Tanglefur sat in camp tending to her pelt, which was quite the task with so much fur. Her blue gaze was focused on the task at paw, her whiskers twitching as she flattened down the spiky parts. She couldn’t understand how her pelt became such a mess so quickly, she was always tending to it it seemed. Or perhaps she just liked tending to it. Nonetheless, Tanglefur finally finished with her grooming and then set her gaze on the camp. Perhaps she’d do a bit of hunting today, even if it would probably mess up the lovely job she had just done - oh well, there was always time to fix it again if it so happened. For a few more moments she watched the camp, before spotting a place among her pelt that was not groomed properly. Turning her attention away from the others, she quickly tended to it, her ears twitching.

If it wasn’t for the steady rise and fall of his back and the occasional twitch of his ear one might think life had finally left the tom. Truth be told, Mumblethroat had been up for quite awhile - he just hadn’t bothered to move. He had merely laid in his nest thinking to himself and recently had heard the sounds of his rising den-mates. His whiskers twitched for a brief second when he heard Snaketooth’s irritable voice after his son’s comment on needing more herbs. He shook his head a bit at the tom’s reply, but said nothing. When Snaketooth mentioned going for a walk, he tossed the idea around in his mind. Things weren’t as easy as they used to be for him - he wasn’t sure if he could do it. Before he could reply however, Lichentooth replied with his normal enthusiasm. Best to go in case of trouble he guessed. “Perhaps, it would be wise to see to the medicine cat first Snaketooth…” He said slowly, as he carefully rose from his position. “If you’re planning on going for a walk, you won’t make it very far in your condition.” Mumblethroat was trying his best to be considerate and not sound rude, but he knew Snaketooth was quite defensive when it came to his more elderly condition. His gaze turned to Frostpaw when the young apprentice appeared, nodding slightly in acknowledgement.

━━Lichentooth had just woken up when Windtalon arrived with food for the elders. He blinked, his ears twitching as the two interacted with one another - he watched with amusement, his whiskers twitching a tad as he rose and padded over to where the prey laid. He took a mouse for himself with a nod of thanks to the warrior, before retreating further into the den. As he settled down and began to eat his meal, his ears pricked at Snaketooth’s words. A walk? Well that would be...nice. He hated staying in the den all day, so any chance he got he would take if it meant being anywhere but. “Oh yes, Snaketooth. That sounds lovely.” He couldn’t wait to head out there and leave camp like he used to. Even if it wasn’t for hunting...or a patrol...just a walk...it was something. As always, Mumblethroat gave his piece on the idea. His tail twitched as he turned his attention back to Snaketooth, awaiting his reply. Suddenly his attention was caught by Frostpaw, whom he waved his tail in greeting to. "Hello Frostpaw."

Her eyes were slightly narrowed as if she were calculating something - like when the right moment would be to spring on an unsuspecting clanmate. Before long, the young molly grew bored and curled up into a ball to catch up on some sleep she had missed out on. Her mentor had seemed busy enough with another feline and probably would be for awhile. A few minutes wouldn’t hurt surely.

"I can't remember most of it." she meowed sounding irritated with herself, her gaze grew distant as she thought of the dream. "It was bad though. Cats dying, our clanmates. I was unable to protect them, but I can't remember what they died from. I only remembered the very end. I came back to camp and there was a dead snake in the middle of our clearing. Do you think the snakes will start coming here? They usually stay in death valley." She looked at Quillheart hoping he had insight. "Why would Star Clan send me a dream I can barely remember, much less understand?"

Snaketooth huffed at Mumblefoot's concern. "I'm fit enough for a walk." he grumbled. Seeing Frostpaw come in and hop around Snaketooth rolled his eyes though a smile made its way onto his face seeing her enthusiasm. "I remember when I could move like that!" he meowed commenting on her constant movement. He gobbled his mouse down then rose. "I'm ready when you are." he meowed to the other two elders walking stiffly past Windtalon and Frostpaw into the clearing. As he passed Frostpaw he whispered "Give your mentor a hard time today." with a mischievous wink.

Windtalon held in a sigh at Frostpaw's overabundance of energy. Though he was impressed to see that she had thought to bring fresh-kill to the elders without him having to tell her to. "That was thoughtful of you." he praised her with a nod to the fresh-kill she brought. "Come on. Let's go see if any of the other mentors are planning on battle training today. Then we can see how your coming along with those defense moves I taught you the other day.

Rosepetal was awoken by sharp teeth in her tail. She jolted awake before realising it was Mosskit with her jaws around her tail. The calico queen yanked her tail from the kits mouth before opening her jaws in a wide yawn. "Can't you two ever sleep in?" she grumbled though her gaze was filled with love as she looked at her two kits who had by now started play-fighting with one another.

Darkpaw was awake but he didn't feel like running out to see what dumb chores he was assigned to do today. He was tired of being asked to do all the dirty work around camp. Why should he have to clean old moss and collect spiderwebs? Couldn't the lazy old warriors do something? Darkpaw glanced around the den to see if anyone else was awake.

Emberflame sat in the shade on the side of camp. He was sure his apprentice would be out soon and he enjoyed watching the clan gather into groups in the morning. He groomed his paws flexing his claws out and tried to ignore the beginnings of the soreness that came with old age. He knew he was lucky to have made it as long as he did - so many of his friends had not. And soon he would have to think about the elders den, without the denmates he once had.
