Celozon wrote:@villainelle! That story looks good! It is fine to have multiple trick or treaters, but its best to only put in the image for one of them to keep stories from filling up with a bunch of trick or treater images. You can link the second one when the second character is first mentioned so as to still include what they look like.
Quick question! When did allowing multiple trick or treaters become a thing and what was the reason? I just remember back a number of years ago that was actually a rule to only have one and noticed the last couple years that the rule had changed. =D

I was actually wondering the same thing. I looked a couple of times to see if I had overlooked that rule, but it seems to be missing this year. I'm still undecided on how I feel about that.

i too am a bit undecided on the multiple trick or treaters rule. while i allow double dipping, most people dont, and i think if you have a hard time keeping track of whose visited you, a second story would throw you off and make you think its a different person- because personally i kinda rely on my memory of peoples stories and trade rules to figure out if theyve come to me already since i think keeping a second list (as in one of who lolo'd at my pms) would be too much as im already keeping track of who i trick or treated at, ya feel? but i mean i guess i dont mind it after all, lolo is for fun in the end, and if having multiple trick or treaters makes it more fun for people then im for it :>

oh, that's why the multiple story rule is in place, to prevent cheating... ah, i see now. i wasn't gonna use it to double dip (just to utilize the two characters i made for this year - if i end up doing it at all) but now it makes sense.

Having multiple trick or treaters still means you only get to write one story and visit each house once unless they say otherwise. It would be like a group walking around together
as far as LOLO is concerned, rules still say to pick A pet - if you notice someone is using a different pet or story than they were approved with, it is something that should be reported to the LOLO mods

I think they do have multiple trick-or-treaters, but they're in the same story and PM. It's not like sometimes they send one and sometimes they send another. For example, maybe one person has their trick-or-treater and three of their friends going trick-or-treating together. In past years, you could have multiple characters but only one was allowed to go up to the door, so at some point they had to split up. This year it seems like that may have changed. Now I guess they can all go up?

I believe it was 2017 that we removed the rule on not having multiple trick or treaters. This is referring to multiple trick or treaters within a single story though, not multiple stories (I know there was a bit of confusion on that). It was originally put into place because at one point during out earlier years some people started putting multiple trick or treaters in their story as a way to guilt-trip for more treats.
For example, if they had 4 trick or treaters but were only sent 2 pets, they'd message back asking for more 'for the rest of the trick or treaters' (sounds kinda silly out of context now but we had a lot of issues like this the first couple years, people refusing to take treats that weren't rares, or demanding certain pets, etc). Since we haven't had issues of that kind in quite a while I removed the rule. Of course we're still keeping an eye out for stuff like that.
Multiple stories, as mentioned, is more an issue of people double-dipping, either on purpose or accidentally. A lot of people still refuse to keep an accurate track of which houses they go to (the eternal 'I'll remember' excuse) and I handle reports all through October of people revisiting houses and have to remind them to keep track of who they go to. Only having one story helps the people receiving remember if they got that trick or treater already or not (and you aren't required to keep track of those you receive).
I've never liked having tons of rules for LOLO, so the past few years I've been trying to cut out some of them that aren't needed anymore like that one. Unfortunately we do need some structure or the whole thing descends into literal chaos (didn't have any rules when I originally started it in 2011. Did not work out very well).

@villainelle!
I'd suggest maybe, including both points of view in the story? Will make it a bit longer, and obviously will need to decide the 'main' trick or treater, but could always flip perspective between them to include both sides within one story ^^
