So back to the drawing board...
Going back to 1889 (131 years ago) and the Starry Night above the Cypress tree,

The starry night that inspired this paining looked like this

Van Gogh’s moon in theupper right-hand corner, is not astronomically correct.
The moon was actually a waning gibbous moon but Van Gogh paints it as a crescent moon with a bright halo
So with that in mind, these 2 pups come to my mind as possibilities for Aquila’s pup
The first one due to the similar yellow “moon and stars” on the pup’s body, and the second one has a halo and similar coloring to Starry Night
There is one other pup I am looking at that reminds me of a starry night, and it is this one
This one’s body looks like a starry night. The leaves are not Cypress leaves; however the asylum grounds where Van Gogh was in 1889 also had ivy covered trees, lilacs and irises in the garden, and he also painted many olive trees whose leaves kind of look like those on the pup’s body.
This was another path I was exploring before Shiba dominated my brain wink wonk
Another interesting fact I also considered exploring because kids would definitely like this...
1889: Fusajiro Yamauchi founds Nintendo Koppai in Kyoto, Japan, to manufacture hanafuda, Japanese playing cards.
Western-style playing cards originally came to Japan in the 16th century with Portuguese traders, but over the ensuing three centuries a variety of different card games were created in Japan. The most popular in the late 1800s were hanafuda, cards printed with beautiful, colorful images of flowers. The yakuza often used hanafuda in their illicit gambling halls.
