I don't have much to say, but I agree.

Demand versus supply is always tricky to negotiate.

People that are actively trading are going to want either the absolute fairest trade possible, which fluctuates dramatically, or they want as much as they can get for as little as they can offer. It's not the best but it's just how it's working out.

I'm the kind of person where I want trading to be really easy and both parties are happy. I want my OMGSR to be just as fair and equal as another OMGSR. Or, I want to be able to swap one UR for another UR and not have to worry about how many "nons" worth to put in the trade because the banana isn't "popular" enough for an UR bengal cat. I can understand why this happens, but I don't really like it.

There has to be some other way of trading fairly xD

I think this is the way that Chicken Smoothie will hopefully slowly work towards. Perhaps there could be a site-wide poll that every user either had to participate in, or have their vote be used as a tie-breaker. Anyway, everyone takes a poll to put your idea into effect.

I wish demand wasn't the way it is now

Honestly, I don't understand how demand was figured out in the first place, did some player just say rats are in bad demand in 2009 and now we're here 11 years later and rats have "Bad demand". Personally I can't understand rats even having low demand as the number of people who collect rats, in my opinion, is higher than any other pet species on the site.

I wish that value would be more based on rarity than on demand, but It seems we're too far now to change it, I am quite fond of a lot of "bad demand" pets but I'm too afraid to trade there real worth for them because I don't believe I could get it back, I can understand how the Cinnabun is more preferred then the Grapes but it would be so much better if someone who liked the grapes more would be able to swap without losing "demand value"

I believe that a lot of users like some bad demand pets but don't want to trade for them because they're afraid of not getting there value back

At the worst end of so called "demand" is store pets, a Zebra is much more rare then a Raven dog but never are you gonna be even able to swap them, The demand of store pets has gone crazy far too a point in a few years the raven will be going for 10 OMGSRs even though it's not as rare as one

Demand should be user-based only

People who are in best position is those who like the pets that're in lower demand 'cause they can often get them for cheaper but I see the issue in owning the grapes for example and trying to trade them off for their "actual" value (not sure where they'd be in pure rarity as mostly only seen the demand value slapped on em).

But problem would also be how one would go about fixing this?
If 100 users suddenly started to actively trade the lower demand pets for higher value then ultimately it would cause others to want the higher value for theirs too. Same with how if handful would get sorbet for example for a x pet then others would start to want that value too for their x pet.

It's as long as people keep paying the high value for a pet, others will want that for theirs too. If everyone refused to pay the high value then the values would at some point come down. But this would be long and tedious process to achieve. And honestly probably almost impossible at this point.
There are some very unstable pets like the dragoncat pps, joker, etc. That kinda sway in demand and how much they go for (heavily depending on who you trade with).

Interestingly enough the grapes are actually worth more than a Sunjewel following pure rarity. But yeah, good luck ever getting that for them unless people suddenly throw demand out the window.

As for rats having "bad demand", I'd just like to leave these pages here from my more valuable trading groups of pets that have been left in there untouched for years; x x x x x and many, many more. There's a species that sticks out a bit, hey.

I will actively seek out people who collect rats, or have trade threads searching for rats, or signatures advertising they're looking for rats, and try to get simple swaps. Same rarity, same year, sometimes offering double the amount of rats for other species (not always asking for dogs fyi) and they'll get cancelled 90% of the time for being "unfair". So even the people trying to say "I appreciate rats! I want them, trade them to me!" won't pay fairly for them, which makes it incredibly hard for anyone to attempt that idea of raising their value by demanding that value. Trying to get a decent trade for OMGSR rats is like pulling teeth in this community, I got offered a toxic for my dark pawprint rat a little while ago and I almost took it because.. that's the best offer I've had for it. And it's worth a Noncoon. I really do wish people would trade fairly for all species, but I just don't see it ever happening. I even catch myself declining non-wl offers that include rats, or art payments including rats, because I know I'll be stuck with the dang thing for years, and I really hate that that's the case.

i completely agree with this! i like trading, but it's impossible to get any good pets. also, i think there should be a dictionary for pet terms, such as "ur," "non," etc because they're really confusing.

As an older player I completely agree with this!

I took a hiatus from 2013-15 until I started playing again and it felt way easier when I rejoined in 2015 to get pets. Everything was worth its actual value. An uncommon 2012 for an uncommon 2012. Two 2014 rares for a 2013 rare. Nothing more. nothing less. Then nons and lists became a thing and I was BEYOND confused.

Now I feel as if every trade I make is bad because I don't overpay for everything and the trade partner cancels. I'll offer a pet of equal or greater value from their wishlist and they'll deny it because "they're looking for more" but I don't want to trade away my ENTIRE account for a pet. (Not that every trade I've gotten canceled is because of that.) I just feel as if people expect more than what they have or should expect from a fair trade.

It's definitely going to destroy CS at some point because no one will trade for anything and pets will become more and more valuable because the people who own them expect more and more. Like inflation. New pets aren't worth anything anymore. Not until they're 3-5 years old. which of course is understandable to a certain degree.

I just can't find the fun in trading anymore. I want new pets and I want to give people the pets they want in their trades, but how can I want to trade and have fun when people constantly want to scam me and make me overpay?

Meh, I don't really mind demand most of the time. It makes sense to an extent, since more people are collecting those specific pets. If more of them are in peoples' personal collections, less are circulating for people to trade for, y'know? And there's more competition for the few that are left. I do agree that it's gotten out of hand for some things, especially rats, but I guess it doesn't bother me much since I'm fine with overpaying for pets I want. Not much anyone can do about it at this point, though, since trying to trade solely by rarity is going to get your trades rejected by the majority of the playerbase.

I took a big break from chicken smoothie and this is literally what i’m dealing with. People are very generous when it comes to recent pets of course, but god forbid you go for these ‘high demand’ pets.. you’re left with lots of rejections in the trade center ( ゚д゚)
Plus i’m in constant fear of being swindled with a trade so i’m always asking away like crazy if trades are fair both when i’m offering or when i’m receiving.

the demand for cerberus is crazy, i've seen someone in "The: Is this a fair trade Thread?" said that they are worth 7-10 nons
