I’ve gotta brag on my crew for a minute. I’m so beyond proud of them. We recently moved in with my boyfriend and they are doing fantastic with the horses! Bones and O got to go on their first rides with the horses and they both followed cues super well, and had a ton of fun. We’ve got a couple things to work on like coming into my right instead of my left when cars pass but they will get there lol. Zona will hopefully get to go with us soon, trying to get a bit more weight on her before we start that sort of exercise. Overall I’m super proud of how well all four of them have adapted to horse life considering they had never really had any experience around them until recently.

^ That's awesome! I'd love to be able to ride with a dog trailing along with me one day.

I feel like there should be a little speech bubble above her head (the dog) saying "Gee I think I'm being followed." lol.

so i recently found out June Bug has hip dysplasia which makes her the third one in the family (both my stepmom and i have it). we found this out when we took her in for x-rays after she hurt her knee while chasing a ball. because of her knee, we have had to keep her from being active for the last few weeks. luckily it has been not as bad as it could since she is a german shepherd x belgian malinois. she does not understand the fact that she is supposed to go easy at all and she is so speedy on three legs. she has definitely become a little less obedient, and she has become extra nervy. she is also getting a little sausagy, but that is to be expected.

Image
she has been really enjoying this small red couch we keep in the front room. i think it is because my step-mom (who is her favorite) has been doing lots of yard work right outside the window behind it.

So (and not that others' recent purchases have tempted me at all) I just bought an Embark kit! They were on flash sale and I couldn't resist; I've wanted to do one for so long but everyone thinks it's a waste of money and we don't need to know what Ruby is, "She's just Chicken and that's it.". But I'm an adult and I don't need to listen to anyone else lol, I can waste money if I want to.

It's going to take a while to arrive, coming all the way from America and customs and such, but as soon as I get the results everyone and their dog will know. I can't wait???? She's such a strange little dog so hopefully they can get some solid breeds from her, because all I know is that her dad was some little white terrier and her mum was --I've never known how to describe her-- tall as a greyhound with disproportionately long legs and looked a bit like a hunting dog with the same coat colour/pattern as Ruby. I've always suggested maybe a collie somewhere down the line, and my dad's always been sure about bedlington, so we shall see!

Here are some pictures, because I never post any: (sorry they're massive)
(1) Ruby and her paternal half-sister, Paz, who is very similar to Ruby in both mind and body and so obviously they don't get along very well (I personally have a theory that they're full siblings because they look so alike and the pup that went missing from Ruby's litter was female and white with patches, what are the chances, but that's just a theory haha) ; and (2) Paz, and Ruby's maternal half brothers, Ren (black and tan) and Stimpy (brindle) who look considerably different to Ruby because their dad was a greyhound, ex-track I think.
It was near impossible to get pictures of any of them together, because Ruby didn't want to be next to her 'rival' nor did she want to hang out with her little brothers, because she's a grumpy old lady and doesn't like to share her humans.

Hmmm I agree with your Dad about the Bedlington. I'll guess there's some Wire Haired Fox Terrier in there. Paz's coat makes me think there could be some Poodle in there somewhere. I'm excited to find out too.

hey everyone! i havent posted on this forum for a while now, i've been busy and just overall trying to enjoy things c:
i just wanted to give everyone a little update on how things are going with my pack!
heres a picture of them! (from left to right)
koa, sophie, paris and buddy!

Image

unfortunately, my border collie mix buddy, passed away in june. he was an amazing dog and my performance dog. we did dock diving, barn hunt, flyball and tricks/canine freestyle. i miss him so much, while i love my other three girls, buddy was my heart dog.

my girl gang has been doing okay. koa grew up with buddy so she was confused when we came back from the vet and he wasn't with us. sophie only knew him for a couple of months, we got her in march and he passed in june.

i've been thinking of getting another border collie for a few days now but, it doesnt feel right. i dont want it to seem like im replacing him you know? my partner has been wanting to get another great dane, we are now obsessed with the breed since getting sophie lol. we're stuck between the two, they are very different breeds. danes are amazing breeds with great temperaments, but i cant do much sports or tricks with them since they're really big. we'll just have to see what happens. i'm still hurting with the loss of buddy so i wont get another dog for at least a month or so.

anyways theres my update for you guys! hope you and your pups are doing great <33

^ My deepest condolences for the loss of Buddy. *hugs to all* When you're ready you might want to considering fostering for a Great Dane or Border Collie rescue. That may help you decided if you're truly ready before committing to adopting/buying another dog. It may also help you figure out if your pack is ready for a new addition and which might be the best fit.
