I've personally come into contact with some natives around where I live, and I'm actually part native (most people are, really). I've asked them about it before and I personally was told it didn't matter as much as long as it was respected and "correct" and not thrown around lightly. Ash is fine- not to mention I personally wanted my own to be wendigo based. If you have an issue with people using folklore as characters or designs, then you have an issue with a whole lot of people.

with that said, and once again as my opinion in this should matter as well since I'm actually part native, I don't really see a problem and it personally doesn't bother me at all. Ash isn't disrespecting any culture with this.

Sorry to suddenly jump in;

If you do research on the matter a vvast majority of the native specifically with w-ndigos as part of their folklore find it increadibly insesnsitive and rude to use them as a "design" or as an "oc". it's bad as is mentioning it's name.
Please do research on not only the cultures and people of them first before trying to jump into an arguement. You'd know to censor it if you did. Also; if everyone is technically part native then I have a say in this; Dont.
Also an additional note; this is meant to be polite so if I come across as insensitive or rude I apologise.

I never said everyone is part native. I said a lot of people are. "Most people" being most people from around the usa and nearby. Or from the usa (as obv they owned it first). And when I say "most people" I'm not saying all of them have major parts of it. A *lot* of people have very little percentages of the blood in them. It's not me saying most people have a whole lot of it in them.

Me saying I'm part native isn't me not doing my research- I've got a lot of it in me. It's also not "not doing my research" if I've asked plenty of natives of their stand on the topic due to me personally liking the topics as well and being an artist both on here, on other sites, and irl. Most of my creature sketches and doodles are irl.

It does seem rude, actually, for you to come and try to pick at my points, as it feels like you're doing. It's also a bit rude imo for you to suddenly say to do research when I have and literally am part of the culture here and there. While I wasn't entirely raised on it, I'm not suddenly non-native all because I wasn't entirely raised on it.

Again, as someone who has a lot of native blood in them, this is *fine* to me, and doesn't offend me. Yes, some of it does go far into how you shouldn't mention the name etc, but how many people really abide by that? Not only this, if you're non-native and you want to follow your own points that you've "made", dont bring it up at all, not even with a censorship. There's different beliefs to this "argument" and telling someone to do research on it is absurd when I've literally done so.

I've asked about this a lot around natives I see irl, (or ones that I speak to) and I've never ONCE been told to censor it. Nor have I been told it's a problem as long as it is *respected.*

And I'm sure you've had experiences where you've either said it without censoring it, or you've literally used something from folklore before where it's been said not to. A *lot* of people have.
