The facts were super interesting as well - I didn't know it was coffee plantations that were destroying habitats. I think I'll need to pay closer attention to what coffee I buy, because I usually just buy the cheapest kind (which definitely isn't fair trade). I'll go see see if they have some better options in my local supermarket!

Elephants are such wonderful creatures. I was really lucky to be able to see them on safari in Tanzania a few years back. I so hope to do so again one day. <3

I think I remember a nature documentary saying that female asian elephants don't have tusks. Not sure though whether they have none at all or whether the tusks are just tiny...

Another fact: In India (I don't remember which area) there are a lot of elephants living in tea plantasion areas. A program was set up to alert the program supervisors to the whereabouts of elephant herds, so that the workers at the plantasions can avoid contact with the elephants. (I.e. the elephants can roam in peace and don't feel the need to protect their young from randomly met humans.)
